Stratos Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 So every time we create a new mission, we will need to add the deck crew on the carrier? Or will the crew be a part of the carrier itself? Thanks! I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
Fri13 Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 I hope that every aircraft carrier, airbase etc will have dedicated ground crews and personnel, that you need to disable if not wanted. The major problem in DCS is that it requires way to much creating own missions to get it believable environment for basic flying. New improved ATC will be nothing if there ain't random flights going in/out and aircrafts parked, taxiing etc. It is time that DCS gets default settings that create random missions etc operational. The future AI should be included in that. This doesn't mean that there must be AI that will attack all threats it see, not that it will send planes to missions and just operate them in patrols etc. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.

Fisherman82 Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 In the simplest form ED would just have to include a template mission with each terrain. In the case of the Nevada map for example the template mission could have random flights going from and to the airbases plus static aircraft on the ramps and civilian aircraft flying from and to the civilian airbases. Same with the upcoming Marianas. Now everyone has to create such template for themselves. In the case of the Supercarrier there could be one for each terrain that includes a carrier battle group with escort ships, helos, tankers, e2s and so on prepared. And static aircraft on deck and deck crew.

RaTzo Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 It is time that DCS gets default settings that create random missions etc operational. Couldn't more agree!! There should definitely be a "choose a seed" option where the game populates portions or all of the map with traffic and things that could need to be attacked or protected. Not necessarily enemy units but lots of civvi stuff that we could build a mission around. The map often feels lifeless... and then you get a mission that is populated but it is all enemy stuff and it is just like Air Quake. Also "static" crew will still be animated in some idle state, right? I mean they will not be frozen!? My improved* wishlist after a decade with DCS *now with 17% more wishes compared to the original
tekrc Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Any plans for "static" deck crew on the kuznetsov? Also "static" crew will still be animated in some idle state, right? I mean they will not be frozen!? 90% sure you would be able to place the static crew around on the kuz also but probably still in the usn uniforms. although given how current placement of "static" things seems to work it will also block spawn points. cool view if you want to have part of the ship full of parked aircraft with crews working around them but limits how many players can spawn in at once (also hinders ai taxi pathfinding on deck probably from what ive seen) and can lead to the waiting for spawn message issue again. honestly to help solve this I would LOVE to see the limit areas around spawn points we could place something and not interfere with it but thats for the wishlist even if animated would it be worth that for what youre trying to do? for many general use servers for high population probably not as they would want the spawn points and space more than eye candy. for private servers with a pre determined smaller group doing a mission from the ship I probably would expect to see more decorating. concerns apply to all carriers plus land bases really

I thought das civilians airports are closed in an air combat area. When im i civilian pilot on Kutaisi and i now there is an US Supercarrier fight agsinst Ukraine i would stay on Ground and and away from airports. I dont think that civilisn flying in a warzone is a thing.

I dont think that civilisn flying in a warzone is a thing. First of all, even war zones are not empty of civilians, but more importantly not everything needs to be a warzone. Military operations and training are carried out in peace times, with the civilian population goin on about their daily lives. So on a training server, you can have civ traffic on and even use it to simulate scenarios like non responding plane and so on. Danger zone!

Harker Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 You can already place aircraft and helicopters and crew from the US Deck Crew mod on the Kuz, just like on the Stennis. The only issue is that static aircraft placed on the ramp still appear horizontal, not inclined. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord. Will they decide where to park the aircrafts after landing? Are they going to use any tugs?
sLYFa Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Will the ground also support after recoveries and parking? Will they decide where to park the aircrafts after landing? Are they going to use any tugs? ED did not mention anything about AI guided/controlled spotting (i.e. arranging the aircraft on the deck). So I think the answer to all of this questions is no. However, I believe if the SC sells well they will consider adding features like that in the future. i5-8600k @4.9Ghz, 2080ti , 32GB@2666Mhz, 512GB SSD
Silver_Dragon Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Will the ground also support after recoveries and parking? Will they decide where to park the aircrafts after landing? Are they going to use any tugs? 1- By now, ED has not talk about them, the AI yet has only centred on catapult use. 2- I supouse has the same as actually. We can parking on any site. 3- Tug funtionality has not implemented. By Chizh on the russian forum has talk about a "hope to" in a future, on the "Wishlist".
