FPS Lost after DCS 2.7.7.14727 patch

I just wonder why one needs a track or mission as prove. The difference is clearly there even on a simple static view.
Example: F-16: Ready on the ramp: waited +/- 30 sec for the FPS to stabilize, it then stays just a fix value.
Stable 2.7.6.13436: 91 FPS
Open Beta: 2.7.7.15038: 73 FPS

Stable: image.png    OpenBeta: image.png

Same settings for both Stable and OB.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

Adding to the questionable requirement of a track, if the performance issue is general, i.e. not a specific spot on a specific map, then testing via a replay track on a different system is a scientifically invalid test. Particularly when circumstantial evidence points to the dev builds/systems running DCS better than on the consumers' systems.

Track files contain mission and your configuration settings.

These recreate the conditions for the Testing Team.

Can you send me the mission, if you dont want to share it in public, send it to me in PM, thanks.

Goes for anyone, if you have a mission or track you know was smoother before than now, I can use it to compare in most cases, thanks again.

Thanks for yours and @BIGNEWY time , looking into this. I've sent a copy to you as its too big to upload to the forum.

Penalty for early adopters?

..but have they applied both the Windows 11 update fix and the AMD Chipset Driver fix just released targeted at the known issue with Ryzen CPUS and Windows 11 ?

If so then definately very bad news. I'm in no hurry to adopt that's for sure.

EDIT: Just read his YT posts and he states that he has installed both the above...so definately bad news !

Whilst this is not good, i'm pretty sure Microsoft will seek to address it; in the mean time it should be clear that this is a problem with Ryzan chips and not with Intel...  terrible for some and no impact for others

hmmm, from the AMD site..

As of October 21, 2021: Windows 11 update KB5006746 fully resolves the performance impact of Issue 1 described in this article. AMD Chipset Driver 3.10.08.506 fully resolves the performance impact of Issue 2 described in this article. AMD has verified that the performance and behavior of compatible AMD processors are working as intended on Windows 11 subsequent to the installation of these updates. AMD and Microsoft recommend that users promptly install this update on affected systems.

Hi all,

Can I get back to version 2.7.6.13436 without losing my config files?

I got it

steps:

open the cmd with admin privilegies

go to BIn folder at your dcs instalation path , my pc: E:\Games\DCS World OpenBeta\bin

Execute the dcs_updater.exe with this parameter E:\Games\DCS World OpenBeta\bin>DCS_updater.exe update 2.7@release

Then will be installed the last released version 2.7.6.13436 of the 29 september (without losing settings/configs files) and your lost fps will be back

Be Happy.

amen!

I'm back to my previous glory, clarity and smoothness. 100/100 SteamVR SS

I’ve put some screen shots here of my NVidia panel, dcs settings and a photo for quality.
system specs

i5 9600k no overclock

RTX 3060

32gb 3600 RAM

250 gb NVME windows disk

1tb SSD with dcs install

120 gb SSD scratch/page file only

I’ll attach a track file later when I can fly, is there any preferred mission or would you just like my testing mission?

I have done many more analysis in which I compare Release (Which I freshly had to install) and Open Beta (where I already deleted caches and so on).
Scriptfiles are synchonized to enable fair comparing.

First of all: My previous fouding which i posted here, that the Terrain Shadow has to be Default, applies also to Release. So this effect is nothing new.

In the attached Zip, you will find following analysis result files (All data is doubled. One set for Open Beta, one set for Release):

- DxDiag output

- Logfiles
   - Fresh, containing only start application, run trackfile with high settings and close.

- Trackfile with flight over Beirut with F15, Syria Map ~110 seconds
I recorded one flight, this can be checked here: Youtube-Link. It may help to bring the nvidia protocol data (data from every second) in the right context.

- All Settings set to Low
   - Textfile: Benchmark the whole flight (Result FPS Average: Release: 130.1 Open Beta: 109.8, -15.6%)
   - CSV: Performance Protocoll form NVidia (Performance Overlay)
   - Screenshot of settings

- All settings set to High
   - Textfile: Benchmark the whole flight (Result FPS Average: Release: 81.5 Open Beta: 72.6, -10.9%)
   - CSV: Performance Protocoll form NVidia (Performance Overlay) (3 Files, I did it 3 times)
   - Screenshot of settings

- All Settings low, but Textures High
   - Textfile: Benchmark the whole flight (Result FPS Average: Release: 127.4 Open Beta: 109.4, -14.1%)
   - Screenshot of settings

- All Settings low, but Terrain Textures High
   - Textfile: Benchmark the whole flight (Result FPS Average: Release: 132.1 Open Beta: 111.8, -15.3%)
   - Screenshot of settings

- All Settings low, but View Distance Extreme
   - Textfile: Benchmark the whole flight (Result FPS Average: 102.0 Release: Open Beta: 85.9, -15.8%)
   - Screenshot of settings

- All Settings low, but all Sliders to max
   - Textfile: Benchmark the whole flight (Result FPS Average: Release: 130.8 Open Beta: 106.6, -18.5%)
   - Screenshot of settings

- All Settings low, but Water High
   - Textfile: Benchmark the whole flight (Result FPS Average: Release: 119.8 Open Beta: 109.6, -8.5%)
   - Screenshot of settings

Small note the the continous nvidia protocol: I did not find something special compared the overall benchmark (MSI Afterburner). Things like temperature, PGU usage etc. are not really constantly changing comparing Release with Open Beta. Maybe others will finde something interesting in this set.

Max fps from 142 to 93, -34.5%

Min fps from 57 to 48, -7.7%

No changes in system, tests made literally 15 minutes one from another on windows 11

Or something with the underwater terrain, wasn't it mention somewhere ?

I have seen that behavior long before this patch. Usually on multiplayer servers, mine in particular would regularly do this while upon selecting an aircraft on the Batumi airfield.

It would only last a second while being drawn or compiled, but the water is the first and only thing seen until the land appeared over it.

I don't think anyone was suggesting Win 11 it had anything to do with the issue reported for the latest DCS patch. It was just reported on this thread as a seperate issue and any further discussion on it should probably be moved to a new thread to avoid any confusion.

@BIGNEWY Since we're talking about BETA, can you roll back only the water enhancement to the 2.7.6 level?
I'm sure feedback would be instant if fps increased.   If no fps change, then you know it's not the water enhancement.

My uneducated hunch is that they can’t simply ”roll back” a single feature from a patch without rolling it all back or rewriting an entirely new patch without the suspect feature. Probably a lot of work to do something as drastic as that.
