Dear all, We hear your concerns, and I’ll try to help explain. Check Six Simulations is an Australian group of DCS enthusiasts that want nothing more than an Australia map in DCS to fly over. Because Check Six Simulations is a first-time map developer, this map is an ideal choice to learn the Terrain Development Kit (TDK) and the quite complex process of creating a map. As with any 3rd party that has first demonstrated to us the required skillset, we will not forbid them from creating a map of their dreams if it does not conflict with existing map plans. Creating this map in no way impacts the creation of other maps. Will this map be your cup of tea? Perhaps not, but it may be for some and will not impact your enjoyment of DCS. Eagle Dynamics wishes the Check Six Simulations every success. Kind regards, Wags21 points

Dear all, There is a bug in the current OB that prevents yaw dampening to activate regardless of the yaw/anti-slip or pitch dampers switches position. We have it fixed internally and it will be corrected in the next update. We apologise for the inconvenience.11 points

I recommend you slightly reduce your mask's oxygen flow, and things should return to normal11 points

With this map I'll be on hold on position ;), but what about more anticipated and needed map - DCS: Vietnam ??? It could be first day purchase for many. We are asking about it from years F-5, F-4, MiG-21, A-7, A-6, MiG-17 etc ..... you have or will have stuff for this map, so why no any news about it still ?8 points

Honestly, I'm just disappointed that valuable resources are wasted on this map right now. To me this map makes currently no sense whatsoever in DCS. Considering DCS being a combat simulator and the available (and upcoming) modules. Like mentioned above, so many modules from the Vietnam War are already there and several others will be available soon. It's like a no-brainer. Or do Taiwan. So many more interesting theaters... I'm sorry but that's just the way I see it. Fingers crossed for the team, but this is a very strange decision, also from the business point of view and potential sales.6 points

These issues have been acknowledged in previous threads, and unfortunately I cannot provide any details as to when they will be resolved. I have brought up the issue of the long Saturation tone to the team in particular as that can obviously interfere with other audio happening during the mission, whether it be radios or RWR alerts. This is among a number of behaviors that is already being worked on by the dev team regarding the flight model. Since it all intertwines with one another (flight controls, Flight Management Computer, the rotor aerodynamics) this is a very complex task that the team has been working on for some time. As a DCS player myself, I eagerly anticipate these fixes right along with you. However, we need to be patient, as hard as that can be sometimes.6 points

Besides the on going tensions between Australia and China: https://www.9news.com.au/national/aukus-submarine-deal-uk-australia-us-china/ca83691b-c5c5-4969-bc60-3f597e1aeea7 There has been historical tension between Australia and Indonesia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia–Indonesia_relations It's not like nothing is happening over in that part of the world. Even without these things, it's a landmass of a nation that has used various DCS modules (Sabre, Hornet, Mustang). It's not some random location in the middle of nowhere. This doesn't make any sense. Maps sell and some people want more variety. How close is the world to being done anyway? No one knows. As I said before, that may not even be possible to do well currently.5 points

Is it a bug when I drop a LGB 30+ degrees off alignment and the seeker fails to capture, thus gliding off unguided into the ether, to fall on some completely unsuspecting patch of terrain, or is the simulation accounting for bad shot parameters? This isn't bad physics on short final into touchdown and rollout. This isn't even "don't fly the helicopter upside down, because reasons"- this is limited loft and guidance logic (both DCS and the AIM-54A) coupled with bad technique; only, the SMEs, devs, and testers are saying it's a bad shot, while users believe they should be able to get away with it, because... well, just because. Launch and release envelopes exist with the express understanding that a round has limitations as to what it can cope with once it goes hot; squeeze off a round substantially outside of them, and there is no telling what is going to happen. In this example, a weapon has been fired outside of parameters to a degree that the seeker could never attempt to maintain or reacquire guidance during the loft- which is a requirement. Doesn't have enough of an INS to compensate for losing its bearings, so it has now become the pre-teen girl screaming while riding the Wall of Death, while the carnie intones to the crowd- "round and round and round she goes, where she stops, nobody knows!". The Phoenix is literally losing all relation to where it is (the missile does not know where it is, because it doesn't know where it isn't), has no way to compensate for it, and is thus doing a grossly unexpected thing, which is what happens. Now, down range, API change perhaps at some point with maybe the ability to better shape the loft profiles and possibly compensate somewhat for ownship orientation? Maybe a bit of this gets shaved off. Perhaps not- the viable shot basket is what it is. The fact that the missile is can do goofy things when shot unrealistically is a known factor; how much of that can be adjusted in the future is as much a matter of the handles that become available as it is how bad the shot taken actually is.5 points

New update: The last piece of the puzzle, the housing and rotary knobs (we made our own) will arrive on Monday. Shipping starts immediately, meaning the first package with Apache MPDs leaves the warehouse on Tuesday. We will produce the frames as fast as we can, hopefully for filling all pre-orders within a week or two. Sorry for keeping you waiting. It will be worth it.5 points

25's top speed at low level is limited by severe flutter @ 1200 IAS. It could go faster (albeit not by much) if you really hate having your ailerons still attached. It is however also a very big aircraft that has a surprisingly poor TWR when fully fuelled. Regardless, good luck finding any aircraft that can exceed M 1.2 on the deck in standard conditions, while in combat configuration (ie full onboard equipment, painted up, external antennas present, etc.) - especially from that era. You won't, because they either physically don't have enough thrust to keep them accelerating, or because something happens at that speed which is mutually exclusive with continued flight. Any claim the F1 could achieve north of 800 knots at sea level is naive at best and intellectually dishonest at worst, which fits with the moving of goalposts and failure to address any argument which isn't easily deflected or dismissed as some sort of logical fallacy, as if fluid dynamics care about high school debating technique.5 points

Another huge map that's mostly desert. I suppose it makes sense given the current performance limits, but I'm probably not going to be all that interested. Unless there's a quality campaign that makes use of it, that is. NTTR is good for what it does, with Iron Flag, Zone V, the upcoming Speed and Angels campaign, and numerous Red Flags, it's got plenty of content well suited for it. Small size helps, too. Australia? If we get an F-111, or any aircraft that the Aussies actually flew, I'll be interested. AFAIK, of aircraft of interest to DCS they had the Sabrejet (Canadian version, not the one we have), Mirage IIIO, F-4E, F-18A, the Superbug, F-111, and now they fly the F-35. So, basically, it'll be a map for the F-4E and, assuming the variant RAZBAM is making is not too far off the O, Mirage III.4 points

Three new maps, all of which as per usual are extremely heavily defended by complex SAM networks and dozens of air bases... Yet we still have nothing for the most war ravaged continent on Earth...? When tf are we going to get somewhere in sub-Saharan Africa!? You literally can't realistically populate any of our current map choices without destroying your frame rate. Are we ever going to get somewhere that's not bristling with air defenses and huge frame destroying cities? We need something that lends itself to small insurgencies and PMC deployments. Not another world war! ie: Somewhere like Sierra Leone, Angola, Kenya or the Congo. It just makes so much sense, especially considering the modules we now have. There is like a decades worth of threads calling for an African theatre, yet they have all gone unnoticed by ED and the rest of the dev community. Literally, not so much as a comment... (Yes, I've read them all) And if that is going to continue to be the case, I'm just going to boycott ever new map until we get something actually freezable for the current years hardware. And before you tell me its not about what I want, actually, yes it is. I'm the customer, and one of the most loyal ones at that. I've been handing over my hard earned dosh to ED since their first year in business (yes, I'm old af) and have bought virtually every product they have ever released. And not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I'm honestly I'm starting to get tired of being ignored...4 points

I meant "abandoned" by the user base, not ED. Not a lot of content for this map, which is a shame IMO. As I said, it could be a fantastic map if it were to be extended (doesn't have to be for free: do it like the A-10II or Black Shark 2 models). And I never claimed there was. I was merely suggesting what IMO would be an easy win for ED for comparatively small effort. Edit: Just thinking about the possibilities makes me dizzy: NTC for the Apache, Combined Arms, could even fit the A-10 in I suppose. NAS Fallon: Tomcat, Hornet, F-5, A-4 mod. No brainer. Edwards: Could open some interesting possibilities for 3rd party developers who would like to recreate experimental aircraft from the 50's and 60's. Yeager, Hoover, Ridley anyone? OK, enough thread derailment.4 points

If you mean LABS, the simulated A-4E does not have it, instead it has a CP741 bombing computer:4 points

The point of vuichard, so far as I understand it, is to increase tail rotor thrust to help "pull" you out of the column of air in the direction of thrust, hence the application of left (or power pedal). The main rotor may be stalling, but the tail rotor definitely isn't. Left pedal will increase thrust and assist with directional control and the right cyclic will also serve to assist with this as well. Translating tendency is ever present, and you're using that to your advantage to effect a rapid recovery.4 points

4YA OPERATION WW2 CHANGELOG VERSION 3 RELEASE - 25TH AUGUST 2022 This major update to all of the Project Overlord 4YA WW2 missions brings performance and stability improvements as well as some tweaks to the missions you all know and enjoy. Removal of ingame scoreboard. It's known to be inaccurate - your kills are still visible in our Discord server - and, of course, www.ProjectOverlord.co.uk/stats Performance improvements that should reduce black flickers and random stutters Mission points display on F10 menu - this shows the percentage of points completed in the mission. Points are awarded for successful bomber escorts (more than half of aircraft making it back to England) and completion of ground and anti-shipping tasks. The more targets your side completes, the closer you get to mission victory! Revamped EWRS to cure reliability problems. The script will run every 7 minutes to inform you of the closest two enemy aircraft. More upgrades to EWRS are planned for future releases. Weather changes to introduce more clouds and to bring the Project Overlord experience closer to historically accurate weather data. Display of airfield labels on the F10 map. You can now see at a glance whether an airfield is open or closed and what capabilities it has. (repairs, fuel, bombs, rockets) Allied heavy AAA swapped for German 88mm guns due to over-accuracy of the 3.7" guns Other updates: Allied airfields now have water in stock for P-47 rearm/refuel taskings following ED bugfix. 6th July 1944 now includes another historically accurate Allied ground target: strike raid on Evreux airfield, as discovered in 416th Bombardment Group records for that day Enjoy!4 points

I play DCS often. So if something bothers you, it's probably bothering others, including me and other members of ED. If it matters to you, it matters to us as well. But I also see how much work the devs put into the product every day, and it really drives home the phrase of "battle of priorities vs time/resources". As such, I've gained an appreciation of priorities. We'll get there.4 points

For me, every new map is a big value for DCS and the most interesting news of today‘s newsletter is the fact that there are enthusiasts who make a new map and the we have a new 3rd party joining DCS. So please let us give them a chance and let us be surprised what these guys will be able to offer us.3 points

That's not a given. I've seen many users praise NTTR for small disc size and high FPS. I love big maps, but it seems the current NTTR has its niche, and to be fair it's a pretty complete map. The one solid point against it is a lack of place for carrier, in my opinion. DCS's map list is expanding significantly. We're at the point where we don't have to try to please everyone with every map. That's a good thing, and I think it needs to be kept in mind moving forward.3 points

it's really to each his own. Some might like it because it's "home" and familiar, and lends a particular flavour to the flying, and others might not like it for exactly those same reasons. As a yuuuuge map slut, I'll take any map of anywhere. Gimme a map of a filthy McDonald's bathroom - I'll fly it.3 points

I get the sense that if a third-party developer can meet the technical and quality requirements, they can create a map of just about anywhere in the world as far as ED is concerned. That's not a bad thing of course, assuming it does not tax ED resources, as in the end the DCS community will vote with its wallets. If someone wants to make a West Virginia/Kentucky map to recreate the war of the Hatfields and the McCoys, I guess we'll have the option to buy one. I wonder to what extent the success of the South Atlantic map is driving third party developers to take more leaps of faith on passion projects. I was very dubious of that one when it was announced, but it wound up being a day one purchase for me.3 points

I can understand the willingness to experiment and try unrealistic things but the simple answer is that putting time and effort into making the F-14 work with the Kuznetsov is just not high on the list as it's completely unrealistic.3 points
