Really? I guess this isn't for you then But if this is too stressful you can just hop in the trawler and enjoy a warm cup of coffee. The quiet humming of the engine and the sound of the waves against the hull is very soothing7 points

I noticed this thread and took a stab at this. Felt like a fun challenge to see what could be done with the old 775 model. I didn't make any models or textures for this project, I used the ones described in this thread. After an evenings work, this is what I came up with. Project 775 Rapucha Class by Currenthill Version 1.0.0 Developers: Currenthill Credits: - ED for model and textures - Suntsag for original idea - Urbi for liveries Features: - Ropucha Class landing ship based on EDs model and textures - 2 x AK-725 57 mm cannons with custom shells - Lights - Waving flag - Spinning propellers - Working damage model - Working bow door (land a helicopter on the ship and the door will open) - Realistic ship performance - Will go very close to shore for landing missions - Working FCR - Exhaust smoke - Rotating radars Known issues/limitations: - Ropucha model is incomplete which creates limitations - AK-725 guns doesn't move visually (had to disable the movement since the ED model animations are backwards and centers are missing) - FCR won't turn correctly towards the target (due to incorrect animations and missing centers in the ED model) - The forward radar won't turn because of model issues7 points

@rato65thanks a lot mate Yes, you'll need CA. Those driveable ships are actually amphibious ground units (like the BTR-80 or the LAV25) as I've never figured out how to make a proper driveable ship. I wont make them all driveable, only those with a half cabin. This means the new trawlers (research, somali and armed somali) the speedboat shown above and a version of the new tug, to which I've added a helipad. I'd love to make them all driveable but the other ships require the interior to be made from scratch so...in a future update maybe?6 points

Wow, they improvised a helipad on top of containers on a listed wreckage? Just when I thought I‘ve seen it all….4 points

I spoke a bit too quickly last time as I forgot a few things I wanted to add to the pack before release. Almost there, promise. And now we have a selection of driveable ships4 points

Currently L16 Symbology is displayed wrong when wingmen lock up Air targets, then switch to AG mode without dropping the lock first. Even turning away from the bandit outside of radar gimbal keeps the shot lines on the HSD and the last known position of the bandit is stuck in place. Mission setup: 2 client F-16 1 AWACS 1 Hostile Hostile is set to dump altitude from 20k ft down to 5k ft right over bullseye (so you have a visual reference where that should happen). Flow: Wingman locks up bandit at 20k before the bandit reaches the Bullseye and drops down. once lock is established, I observe the HSD and FCR with the DL symbology and the shot line of my wingman. My wingman then switches to A-G mode without dropping lock. he turns away so the bandit is out of his radar FOV. Result: Shot line remains to a target at 20k ft. I no longer get updated DL info about this bandit, despite awacs being present. i cannot find the bandit below 20k ft despite the radar elevation being correct. i can visually see the bandit within 15 nm... setting the MIDS filter to NONE didnt get the bandit to show up, so i have to switch to DGFT mode to get a lock. My wingman changes to A-A mode again now and suddenly i get correct DL info again. Thanks @Moonshine for testing See tracks attached from both player aircraft and the MIZ + Tacview Link-16_WingmanTrack2.trk L16_Lead_track.trk Tacview-20221120-132953-DCS-Test_L16.zip.acmi Test_L16.miz3 points

Please stay on topic. This is about the performance drop in Open Beta, and not the very helpful advice to switch to stable. We get it, we know it. Create your own appreciation thread for the stable branch and let people do their testing here.3 points

Thanks, but I think you're missing the point. We have been waiting over 2 years for this one-line fix. Back in August, @MAESTR0 told me that the fix was made internally but that it would have to wait till the October update. That deadline passed with no update, and then he told me that they needed to test it, but they were too busy with Normandy 2 to do it. (I offered to test it for him, but I didn't receive a reply.) This is a trivial fix that should have been in this map from day one like all others (except Marianas, but that was quickly fixed). We can all be nice and polite about this, and talk about continuing patience (for another 2 years?), but really, this is poor from UGRA.3 points

@Minskythanks a lot for all your work on this. If only the Syria map kneeboard worked, all would be good!3 points

UPDATE!! I'm now given the impression that the 109K-4 did NOT have a dural plate behind the fuel tank. If we look at the section Waffen/Panzergewicht (Weapon [Weight]/Armor Weight), we will see these weights displayed in tons of kg. You will notice that as we transition from the G-6 to the G-14 and K-4, with the addition of the MW-50 tank there came a removal of 32kg of armor weight, from 78kg to 46kg. Considering that the MW-50 tank is mounted in the same section as the duraluminum plate, and it's the only piece of armor in that section, it stands to reason that it is the only armor that was affected when the overall armor weight was decreased. We can subtly check this as well. Dural as a density(p) of 2790kg/m^3, according to Google. With an apparent mass of 32kg, and we know the width of the plate at 21-22mm (either/or, depending on the report you read, using 22mm this time), we can find the plate's face area. Mass/(width*p) will give the face area. 32/(2790*0.022) = ~0.52 square meters of face area. The square root of the result is 0.72m. So if have have a square plate of this dural, it's sides measure 0.72m by 0.72m. This, if we eyeball, looks about the same area as the aft face of the fuel tank. This seems to identify the removed armor for the K-4 as that dural plate. I will not remove the dural armor section on my Bf 109K-4 post much farther above, so people can stay up to date to additions here while having all the context. However, I will edit that post to make a note that this armor was excluded on the Kurfurst. The Bf 109K-4 does not have a duraluminum plate aft of the fuel tank.3 points

SP user and I prefer OB so I can fly new Modules as soon as they appear. If there is ever a game breaking bug after an OB update, I have no problem to revert back to the prior OB version until the issue is fixed.2 points

Yup the glare is still there. I had to go double check if I has sunflare turned on.. Mine is even a bit worse with my ReShade filters. I actually had to dial the back a bit too because the glare and reflections were overwhelming at times2 points

It's fixed internally but wasn't merged in time for this latest patch, sorry2 points

I see that you miss flying a lot. You are very lucky to have experienced this. Not all of us have, DCS is the closest we will ever be. You said we all want the best, you`re right, and we have the best, we have DCS! It`s not perfect and under development forever, but it is getting better and better. Save your money, buy yourself a real airplane and be happy again. You need it.2 points

Yes. Mash the pickle down and hold it and hope you are still in a LAR. If you are still in a LAR the weapon will release like normal. After the initial aborted launch attempt you only have a few seconds before the bomb basically safes itself up and you are either taking it home or selectivce jettesoning it. Also when dropping the bomb, just hold the pickle button until it comes off the wing. It takes longer than you expect. Its not a set time that the button needs to be held its literally just that if the pickle is released before the bomb drops it will abort the launch.2 points

The mission.miz? Do you mean a specific mission? Putting it in a module kneeboard is better, as at least then you get it in all missions for that aircraft. But still, it's far from ideal as it pops up in every terrain. The sooner UGRA fix this, the better for all of us.2 points

Is it only me who thinks that low proximity frags should be correctly modelled in DCS? Right now, you see people shooting other jets down from just few meters away all the time, then flying through their fireball without getting any damage at all. That simply feels odd. No real pilot would voluntarily do that. I think this should be addressed in DCS, when you shoot down another jet from low proximity, or fly through its debris (after having shot it from adequate distance before), or when being too close when your own bombs denotate on ground, you should accordingly be punished by DCS with damage to your jet. How much damage and whether you might get luckily away with it sometimes, that's open for debate. But always getting away with it for free, that should really be changed IMO.2 points

It was announced for the DCS 2.8.0.32066 Open Beta, adding the 9Line-data to the kneeboard It would be very useful - especially, when you play in vr and you don't want to lift the headset just to write the numbers on paper. Has anybody used this feature yet? Does it work or does it need special settings to bring to work? I didn't found any videos on youtube and hadn't have time for my own tests. Thx2 points

Yeah, I have a complete saved games mod. But as you mentions, I have to make sure what I can share and not due to copyright. I noticed the textures are linked in this thread, wouldn't that also be a copyright issue? If so, I'm thinking about releasing the mod as a saved games mod package without the textures and the main model EDM. This way everyone can add the two things from their own earlier DCS version, and I'm not distributing anything I shouldn't. My package would then contain the main lua, sounds, collision model, liveries. Also, since this was a quick Saturday night project, I didn't add the complete damage model. But I added that this morning. null2 points

Just flew a dusk mission into Iran out of Al Minhad in VR. The return leg as the light was fading and the various towns, cities, highways, airbases and airports lit up was absolutely outstanding. Easily the most immersive, impressive, and convincing night flying I've ever done in a sim. Now we just need Vulcan, multicore, dynamic campaign, proper ATC, and improved AI and we're away to the races. Incredible work on the nighttime lighting, though.2 points

Hi, thank you for reporting. Although it looks like a bug, this is a feature. The MB-339 weapon panel, when the aircraft is cold and dark, shows the payload of the previous flight. Only once it is powered up, the panel refresh the actual payload. As in DCS it is impossible to trace the previous mission payload, we decided to put RKT as fake previous configuration. Dont get me wrong, I love DCS and I love these immersive details, art team did a lot of great job to build the world, above all these, DCS is still a program, which need to be playable. Acceptable performance has a higher rank ahead.2 points

Actually you can start the whole aircraft in almost less than 2 minutes (Forgot to turn on taxi lights and to set up IFF and datalink but that can also be done quickly during taxi)2 points

Hey @prccowboy Love the aircraft. Such extremely high quality, definitely setting the bar really high for us. Any consideration for the KC-46 Pegasus ? All these special mission aircraft need a latest gen and awesome quality tanker. Thanks again for the great models Shrike2 points

We will propagate the same fix we did for the F-5E Aggressors BFM campaign to this one and the FA-18C Aggressors BFM campaign as well. I'll post once the files are submitted to ED for inclusion in the next patch update.2 points

Fully agree on everything there. I am a single player only guy and absolutely love DCS , it has brought me tons of joy over the last several years.2 points

Well, gotta buy CA one of these days and a good reason is that ED is working to add VR support. Excellent work and details, i love details! Keep up and thank you in advance. F.2 points

Either way, you should feel the movement of the surrounding air, regardless of caused by winds, thermals or turbulences (and size of aircraft). DCS more often than not feels stale/lifeless in this regard. This doesn’t keep me from having fun with it though. It is just one of the bigger items on my personal wishlist.2 points

Hi, I'd like to see an option to have VR turn on before going into a mission, then end when the mission is over. Another option would be to have certain functions, such as the main menu and mission editor, show up on the flat monitor, then when loading a mission have the monitor go black and transfer to the VR headset.2 points

There not only two skin colors, nickos86. Instead of using time and effort to create dozens of different skin colors, voices, headsizes, noses,... this game, just like most others, relies on a bit of imagination on the user´s side and a generic pilot model (the fact that a fighter pilot wears visor, helmet, flightsuit etc makes seeing skin almost impossible anyway...). After all: nobody is actually flying anything - everybody is just sitting in front of some computer, pretending to be flying using a computer game. So don´t let yourselve be limited by forgetting about the most important thing: "imagination", as this is the main and most important ingredient for any computer game/simulation.2 points
