I don't agree. RazBam obviously takes this whole thing seriously enough to promote their product and build hype. Fine, I'm all for it. But if they are going to do that, and there is a reasonable expectation that customers will buy into the hype and want the product and talk about the product and get into the zone to the point where they will eagerly pre-order the product, all of these things being Razbam's goals, then it's not unreasonable for a portion of the customer base to express frustration when they are left out of part of the plan and only informed of it at the last minute. I would would not have minded at all if the pre-order was on Steam today with a smaller discount or if we had been informed prior to the fact, simply as a courtesy.10 points

I think that is the alpha and omega of the issue. Part of my disappointment is that I was going to order two copies on Steam today. I told someone I would gift them one at pre-order as a show of support for their efforts in the DCS community. Now I can't and it's a bit of a bummer. Is it actually serious, no. Is it a deal breaker, no. Will I still buy two copies when available, yes. But I remain disappointed in how all this was handled. As a years-long well paying customer, I thought I/we deserved a touch more clarity in the process. .9 points

Airmans don't worry We were very careful with the lighting setup, we tried to make the lighting not very intense, not as bright as it is in peacetime. And in the default settings of 1944 the lighting is off, the lighting will appear only if you select 1945. Everyone can choose the lighting mode that he needs.9 points

Folks there is a lot of incorrect assumptions here about steam. Steam is great for many people, and for many reasons. Steam has a reach in the millions for advertising a product, we have no intention of ditching steam. The Eshop is our own store and we have more control, and can offer more sales, miles, and trials. which ever one you use is fine by us. thank you8 points

Hi, the 24$ price was an error in our Eshop, it was fixed quickly, anyone who got it at that price have had their purchases honoured. thank you8 points

did you knew that participating on the miles program, or not, is a prerogative of each developer? For example, most Campaigns don’t accept or accrue miles either .. will you stop purchasing Campaigns too?7 points

Good evening We are very pleased to announce that the Normandy 2 map will support the new night lighting. The interest of DCS users in this issue is high and today we are publishing images that illustrate the progress of work in this direction, and we hope that this will add a lot of joyful emotions to all users of the Normandy map. I just gazed deeply into my crystal ball and this is what I saw: When people find out about the F-15Es radar and situational awareness capabilities they will praise it as the new ultimate air-to-air platform in the BVR theatre. When their victims finally exploit the F-15Es disadvantages in air-to-air, the community will demand with a deafening noise level an option to remove the CFTs to have a ‘pure’ F-15 being as close as possible to the F-15C or the guys from IDF Mods will try to create a F-15C Mod around the F-15E avionics. Ok, ok - I know. You don’t need a crystal ball to foresee that…6 points

I guess you can't tell the difference between 20% and 30%. It's not even about that, for me. It's principle. AFAIK every other module has always been able to be pre-ordered on Steam and Stand-alone. And the ONLY reason this one isn't, is greed. I don't even use Steam. But I'm skipping this module on principle now. 2023, the year of the Phantom. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk6 points

This. None of the rest of your post was necessary, just thought you would like to make accurate statements and be properly informed. You're the one complaining about me telling you that you are wrong. I will not be preordering the Strike Eagle and may not even buy it at all because I would rather save my money for the F-4, and anyway, what's it to you?6 points

Guys, don't be so angry. 56 U$S for a preorder is not so bad compared to the rest of the modules. I guess most people don't remember but the F-14 on preorder was 70U$S. Don't forget the cut of ED and the discounted price, if the 3rd party also sells its product on steam it has another 30% cut. ED can sell on steam and use miles since no one else is taking a cut.5 points

I wasn't. I was walking two roads based on whether I was wrong or not. I don't mind being wrong about one point out of my entire point one little bit. As I said... thanks for the clarification. The whole point is that Razbam hasn't taken anything from anyone... yet people are still butthurt over a tiny company that's trying to do their part to move our favorite hobby forwards and people are actually bitching about not being able to spend their money "today" or having to spend a few extra dollars... It's ridiculous. I've seen this too many times. It's like a shark feeding frenzy of entitled CoD players. It doesn't look good. People should just chill the eff out, realize that eventually the aircraft will be released, pay their saved little duckets and fly their little freaking planes. All the rest is from 8 year old land friend... But again... thank you for the clarification :)... For sure. I do actually appreciate it :).5 points

The point of this thread escapes me. If it was planned to elicit a response from Heatblur, then well done, mission accomplished. Cobra categorically stated the Strike Eagle release will have no impact on the F-4. Any post thereafter is essentially engaging in a circle-jerk of escalating speculation and insinuations that he's wrong. The pointlessness of the previous 3 pages of this thread defies comprehension.5 points

Even in real life not all retailers sell the same products at the same price. We choose where we shop accordingly.4 points
-
I'm buying the aircraft because I want to fly it. I couldn't care less about additional goodies like miles. I believe you can transfer steam modules to standalone so buying it from the site shouldn't make any difference. People buy for different reasons. 20 or 30% off won't affect the quality of the experience of flying the aircraft which should be the main reason for buying no? Simon.4 points
-
what a petty comment … and customer satisfaction has to do with product and service quality, not giving a price discount. have you seen many dcs developers becoming millonaires? Do you work for free on real life? .. software development needs to be funded, no one will work for you for free .. if that’s being greedy then you have very unreasonable expectations … perhaps you would be better served by playing with free Android flight sims.4 points

@elewarr Look I and everyone involved appreciate your support... but thanks for taking my words and twisting them so it sounds like I've also taken something from you. Even by replying to a comment I made to someone ELSE as if I had made it to you. Oh and for making my point while you're at it. I do appreciate that for sure. And... I'll stand by my statement 1000%. Potato, Potahto sir. You can't "pre-order" for a % discount, but you will be able to purchase at pre-release (when everyone else gets it presumably...) for similar or same % discount? Uhm... Where EXACTLY is something to bitch about there? I haven't taken anything from you. Neither has RazBam. I'd bet dimes to dollars that they'll pop in here at some point and let you all know they're sorry for the mixup and all that. Haven't they already said they will have a 20% discount (same as the pre-order???) when they do the Steam release/pre-release/pre-order/let you buy it right about the same time it's released for everyone else thing??? So... What ARE people ACTUALLY bitching about? Just that the Steam users have to wait a while before they can get the same deal as the rest of us and get the aircraft at the same time too most likely??? WUT? Wait WUT?? Yup. Ridiculous. Completely. @razbam or @NineLine or @whoever... Feel free to delete my posts if you like (not that you need my approval :)) but HOLY cow... Kids these days :). I get it... "people react to these things in their own way" and all that but I get sick and tired of all the ME ME ME in the world these days. Calm the eff down you little... OK I'm done4 points

You're constantly missing the point, not sure if on purpose but let me explain last one time. I was given the ability to invest in DCS on this specific platform (i.e. Steam) - I didn't enforce this option on anyone. Since it's not one time buy, it's a continuous process and it requires a lot of commitment on my side (incl. financial) I'm treating the whole thing as a kind of contract - I was aware of Valve's cut and to support ED and vendors I decided I'll be buying every possible aircraft, terrain and campaign (I'm missing some campaigns that seemed tad old), including everything RB's released as a sign of my commitment, support and respect, and I did. And today this contract was broken, I'm not treated the same way as other players. I didn't set price limit for F-15 module on Steam, I didn't tell RB how much their module should be priced on Steam (it wouldn't be the first time when prices differ a bit), I just impatiently refreshed Steam client on 15th and 17th. And they just ignored the whole platform... and the reason is - money... even though I don't care (too much, It would just be a little bit more explaining to do to my wife) about what value it would be 30% of off. And I'm reading in this topic that I should switch to standalone version to support ED and vendors more - because apparently - as "this specific platform" user, I don't support them enough, and then I'm reminding myself there's just nothing more I can do to support them (incl. RAZBAM) because I already did everything I can on "this specific platform", because I wanted to prove my support and commitment... I feel like someone is slapping my face. Sure, maybe I was wrong, maybe I'm naive, maybe I'm dramatic (but I didn't start the whole "support them more" thing) for sure I'm disappointed - I realised the commitment and respect of the effort was only on my side. You are correct, I didn't - I was thinking whatever I was thinking while it's just "give us money and shut up".4 points
-
Well. I merely read their official statements and releases - and the past 19 pages of comments. You don’t have have to make excuses for RB. We all know the facts, we did read their retractions. We understand. We simply aren’t happy. Let’s move forward and make the best out of this mess.4 points

Korean Peninsula Size seems about perfect for a DCS Map. Map would be about 1000km x 500km. The detailed land area would be about 220 000km². That seems in line with Syria or the Persian Gulf map. I would include the JASDF Ashiya Air Base in Fukuoka Japan and then to the norther tip of North Korea. Map could serve two scenario: The historical Korean War from 1950 to 1953 and a fictional present day scenario North Korea/China vs. South Korea/USA/Japan Coral Sea or Solomon Islands Rather big map of roughly 1500km x 2000km. While big in dimensions the map would consist mostly of sea the detailed land area would be rather small. I would go from somewhere around Port Moresby in New Guinea to just shy of the Island of Nendo. And in terms of height from the most northern tip of Bougainville Island to somewhere north of New Caledonia. Map would be aimed at WW2 pacific theater scenarios.4 points

I think its fair to say and not needed every time an aircraft releases, that steam has always had these complications for customers and it has been well documented on the DCS forums. If you are new to DCS world, maybe there should be a steam forum explaining all the complications of playing on steam. I would venture to guess it would still not stop the complaining and the vast amount of people playing on steam would just start complaining on that forum to. If you have been flying DCS long enough, these comments are clearly emotionally driven because you chose to go the steam route instead of the dedicated route of running DCS as a standalone. If you downloaded DCS and purchased your first module on Steam thats the way she goes. Somehow you found your way to this forum which means you discovered a lot of us run the dedciated standalone version for a reason, aka not steam. You and you alone made the call to play via steam, not ED or Razbams fault. They are a business and make business decisions so they can provide the best to their customers. My suggestion, stop whining and go the dedicated route, or continue to abuse yourself and stick with steam. If this causes you to ditch DCS because it was not on Steam for early access, your a failure in life.4 points

I'm personally extremely excited for this project, and for all those feeling disappointed about American avionics and it's not Chinese enough and yadda yadda, consider that Deka has said in the past they wanted to make J-11 and were testing stuff internally with MKK etc. I'm sure a group who started a Dev team based on Chinese aviation is more excited than any of us about bringing fully Chinese aircraft to DCS (probably why they started Deka company in the first place) and more disappointed than we are when they can't bring something fully Chinese to DCS. They've done great work in the past and I'm positive this project will be interesting as well as looking forward to what they get their hands on in the future! So, let's not be too hard on them I'm sure they've done their best to find an aircraft like the J-8 which is quite unique and also Chinese. Better J-8PP then in jail and no more Deka modules ever, right? plus time may reveal new opportunities Cheers Deka, we believe in you!4 points

+1 fully agree, couldn't have said it better with my limited english. BTW, Razbam has accepted ED miles on other products, for example I purchased the SA Map getting a price discount of 12.7 US$ in addition to the 20% discount of Early Access ... maybe for the F-15E case, Razbam chose to omit the ED miles in order to fit their costs within an US$ 80 list price ceiling, who knows? I love using Miles as much as anyone, but its not the end of the world and I will use my accrued miles to purchase the Kola Map, or the Phantom, whichever cames out first3 points

I'd like to see Deka's "F-16" fly remotely like a F-16. Everyone has their preferences but I never expected to see people say that sharing a HUD makes two planes identical. Anyway, I'm glad that some developers are modeling unique planes like this. I'm really curious to see how it flies and operates. I also appreciate having the additional AI version. I really have to hand it to Deka, even when not taking their modules into consideration they've done a lot for DCS by providing the free asset pack and fleshing out one of the major nations in DCS. Please keep it up.3 points

What he said. F-15E is going to plenty dangerous. Both the F-16 and F-18 are radar limited at high speed, high alt BVR, not limited by Aim-120 range.3 points

Then they should have been smarter about it. It's not like this is their first ever module. They could've said (weeks ago), "we planned to do a 30% discount across the board, but because of (the situation at) Steam, we'd lose too much revenue. We also don't want to be unfair to the Steam users, and charge more to them, so we are setting the discount to 20% across the board." Fairness, transparency, and understanding in one little paragraph. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk3 points

I think it's usually until the module enters Early Access (ie becomes available to module owners). No one knows exactly how long that will be right now. According to this weekly news it will be "a few months later" than yesterday, "perhaps sooner".3 points

Update to the Clemenceau Class carriers on the way. Yes I said carriers with an "S" . I hope to soon have 3 maybe four version/liveries working. They will be: Foch, setup to work with SEM, Rafale, F-18C and E-2/C2a Clemenceau, setup for "Amphibious Assault" role maximizing helicopter parking and take off/landing Clemenceau, setup for "Normal" load out SEMs and maybe a F-8N (no promises, lol) Clemenceau, setup for Etentard IV with original deck markings without the white triangle. It will most likely be a different lua ship file that you load a matching livery on, BUT I have found a different model that has different weapons mounted. I just need to see if I can get access to that model and then figure out which model is correct for each version of the ship is regards to the SAM launcher fitted. here is a sneak peak3 points

If you really want to support ED, and get a better price in the bargain, just move to Standalone. One-time effort, you get longer sales, better prices at times and can live a happier life3 points

This is just business. When you are producing a product for profit you cannot let someone else take that away from you. I understand the rationale around why it was done the way it was done at the time and maybe that was the hold up, in the end. I’m sure it will be fine in the long run. For me, I’m fine with everything that transpired today and in the end it is only a prerelease. Remember there will be an early access release as well. To all that are upset, go dust off that module you have never really played to tide you over. You know the one, we all have one.3 points

Angry? I just "pre-bought" mine and even though the concept of "pre-buying" is still kind of silly to me, I've never been happier to part with sixty bucks in my life. I mean, unless you count that night in Tijuana when I met this woman named Conchita who was a dead-ringer for a young Charro and when she asked if I had sixt ... you know, it's not important. What is important is that the F15 has been my favorite plane for 30 years and I would have paid twice as much, twice as early (not that I'm you know, suggesting that), but who the hell could be angry now that this thing is closer to being reality?3 points

Well, yes and no. It is hilarious that RB wants to sit at the grown ups table and seemingly try to refuse to play by their rules. Let’s be clear-eyed about this: Steam would not have blinked if a couple of hundred k people wanted to buy, yet ED buckled under that strain. There’s a cost attached to being big league, and Steam calls that price. That’s all fine, and RB can decide to not play at that level. What is to their detriment ist (IMHO) that they failed to tell us up front. Another snafu on top of all the unfortunate brouhahas we experienced before. All understandable, yet inexplicable in a professional context - Steam’s terms & conditions aren’t new, RB has been selling through steams for years. It does make me wonder who is running the show there, as this major FU is not to be laid at ED’s feet, this is entirely RB. What an unfortunate mess. Best of luck to RB, as I still want them to succeed. And I hope that they find someone with more big-league experience to catch silly things like this before they start a sale. It would have cost them nothing to tell everyone that pre-orders were only on the e-shop. Everyone would have understood. Now they simply look bad, with bad excuses that could have worked well just a few weeks ago. Silly, dumb, inexcusable mistakes by someone whom we know can and should know better. Man, I ‘d feel sorry for them if I wasn’t so disappointed. RB is a long-time partner to broth Steam and ED and they are *not* a neophyte in this business. Please, please please take a look at what you are doing and plan ahead to make you customers less disheartened with your antics. This was completely avoidable.3 points

Pfft... The combat flight sim industry (currently AKA "Eagle Dynamics and their partners") needs the money. You don't understand the assignment. The assignment is that we, as combat flight sim enthusiasts... are "very" rare. This means that the people who pour their blood sweat and tears (for years) into making high fidelity sim planes for us ACTUALLY need every penny we can give them. This isn't EA we're dealing with here and this "cash grab" you speak of goes to put food on kids tables and presents under trees for sure... but also in return provides us with THE ONLY source we have to enjoy our hobby. The only one. This is a two way street here sir. We give them our money and they provide superb recreations of our favorite aircraft to eff around with. Cash grab my ass. I would agree with you 100% if we were talking about some EA style company that has share holders and executives that pull down multi-million dollar bonuses... But that aint it. I've been around for a while (feel free to throw out the boomer BS if you like) and what actually happens when we as hobbyist consumers in THIS specific space adopt YOUR mind set... is that we all lose. It makes the developer unable to put food on their tables while putting combat aircraft on our tables and then we have "old" sims like that 4.0 sim to play with. I've seen this happen MORE THAN ONCE in my life time. They're scratching our backs... Feel free to scratch theirs. I know... I know... "they chose to put it on steam and blah blah blah..." Yeah... so they could get more customers. It's an investment in the future of combat flight siming. Please step over to the side where we're all (including the devs) a community with equal responsibility to keep it running.3 points

I made a custom HMD and Night vision imaging template for the SU-57, also can now print radar contacts and description which will be added to the HMD. Keep in mind that this serves as a basic system to get things going, I will simulate it better once I can see what the real HMD displays. Best regards: CubanAce.3 points
