If you "crash" in a military grade simulator, you also can "hop into the next jet and take off again" (after a very lengthy and thorough debrief). Yet those things still try to simulate the aircraft to the best of their technical and budgetary capabilities. And I bet "alleviating pilot inconvenience" is rather low on the priority list. Hyperbole. If RAZBAM's SME's deem the in-cockpit sound to be realistic, so be it. It's not unbearable in any way, shape or form. OTOH, if RAZBAM is willing and able to allocate resources and dev time to implement a volume slider under the "special" tab - without interfering with more immediate and pressing issues (like fixing bugs and implementing promised features) - I don't see why they shouldn't add it as an option. Options are good. It's all about priorities, though, and IMO, "quality of life" features that don't add to the module (actually take away from authenticity in this case) should have a lower priority than, for example, game-breaking bugs.6 points

Work is in progress and the team are working hard. June has been a busy month for the team, and we were also all away for a week of it for a team gathering, so you will need to be patient, as soon as we have more news to share we will share it. thanks6 points

Just an observation / commentary on the quest for "realism" in DCS and sims in general: - Everyone loses their ever-loving mind if the smallest system doesn't function as they expect - People pour over charts to ensure that the flight model performs exactly like the real-world aircraft - Developers take years to study the aircraft and replicate it to represent the real-world aircraft as closely as possible - Then, when real-world pilots repeatedly say "you never hear the engines at all... the noise from the ECS is so overwhelming it is really all you hear", the customers are like "turn the ECS noise down, I want to hear the afterburner!"5 points

Been seeing some good work with the F15E stuff in my absence. Amazing collaboration everyone! This is pretty much exactly how I hoped it would happen as I am away. I have some stuff just to swing by and drop off. I won't have the time to explain much. The intent is for someone (@Trigati?) to take a look, compare the two, and make the best version for the community to come together and move forward on. Within the next few weeks(?) I make another stop by and upload the newest version I see in this thread to the Library. The file is in a spoiler so people don't think it is an update of a main version. Remember, please combine the best of both luas. I wouldn't want two branches of things that are not compatible with each other.5 points

Agree with Harlikwin... the progressive damage model is one of the most impressive parts of this module. I'd really like to see others follow in your footsteps, because It really makes me as the pilot want to learn how the mechanics of the aircraft systems work at a higher level so that Emergency Procedures can be used and/or improvised after failures to save the aircraft. Reading about the Arthur system came in handy when I had hydraulic failures and it was immensely rewarding to apply that knowledge to decouple the stick and then get the bird home successfully after past experiences had shown me I would eventually lose control authority if I didn't take action. Also, I think this is the only plane I've had to use the emergency gear handle so far. You guys are making a great module.5 points

There is no autopilot, only autohover and heading-hold/slave to sight modes. Both of which are buggy and being fixed. Further autopilot modes may come later. The fighting behaviour is likely the SAS, which may be detuned in future update. The pedal issue is likely due to the amount of power you are putting in - more collective power means you need more pedal to fight the torque. In an OGE hover with HOT3s loaded, you are very heavy, thus lots of power, thus lots of torque. This is partly accurate, but the power issue is increased due to a bug that will be fixed in the next update. So, these issues should become somewhat easier soon, but it won't hold your hand4 points

Once again thank you for your hard work, this is a beautiful piece of work. I definitely will donate beer to your account. I am a huge fan of Rusian and Chinese air defence systems. To give some info: 1. Crashing. DCS was constantly crashing, after I removed the mod that was previously installed in "DCS\Mods\tech" folder "SAMPack_S-300_Series", everything started to work fine. 2. Small antenna. Pantsir-S1 and Pantsir S2 in your MOD have a small antenna for the rocket introduction to the main PAA on the left side, but actually, it should be on the right side on the target and missile tracking radar station 1RS2: 3. Pantsir code names. There are a lot of mistakes when it comes to labelling the Pantsir air defence system. The Russians were not guided by any sound logic when they marked up Pantsir versions and we actually see now a lot of labelling mistakes. Most of the systems that are in use actually only have the designation Pantsir-S1, there is no Pantsir-S2. - Pantsir-S1, KAMAZ 6560, surveillance-acquisition radar with a one-sided phased array antenna. The version that was represented in the Russian army and in Syria is the Pantsir-S1 with a surveillance-acquisition radar with a one-sided phased array antenna. Officially it's Pantsir-S1. On the KAMAZ-6560 chassis. - Pantsir-S1, KAMAZ 6560, surveillance-acquisition radar with a double-sided phased array antenna. The next modification that is the most represented in the Russian army is actually Pantsir-S1 again (there is no such thing as Pantsir-S2 code), on the KAMAZ-6560 chassis but with a surveillance-acquisition radar with a double-sided phased array antenna, this is designated as Pantsir-S2 in this DSC mod. Officially on the website of the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the page for the export of military equipment, it can be seen that the Pantsir with a double-sided phased antenna array is actually marked as the Pantsir-S1. - Pantsir-S1M, KAMAZ-K 53958 Tornado, surveillance-acquisition radar with a double-sided phased array antenna. The new official modification of Pantsir is Pantsir-S1M. Where it was retained by the surveillance-acquisition radar with a double-sided phased array antenna, but the targeting radar was changed and all this was mounted on a new KAMAZ-K 53958 Tornado chassis. - Pantsir-SM, KAMAZ-K 53958 Tornado, surveillance-acquisition radar with a one-sided phased array antenna. Pantsir SM is the next official modification and so far the deepest modernization of the Pantsir system. A new term and designation Pantsir SM-BM (battle/combat machine) and Pantsir SM-TBM (transport-battle/combat machine) are introduced. Now it returns to the surveillance-acquisition radar with a single-sided phased array antenna, but the targeting radar has been changed and all this is mounted on the new KAMAZ-53958 Tornado chassis as in the Pantsir-S1M version, which is apparently a step between Pantsir-S1 and Pantsir-SM ( BM/TBM). Pantsir SM-BM (battle/combat machine) Pantsir SM-TBM (transport-battle/combat machine) Summary: Of course, they also have naval and artic versions and SV versions on the tracked chassis, but there is no need to expand the writing on them now. I apologize for this long post, but I wanted to share information and observations with the group. Thanks again for the mods and all the hard work.4 points

GBU-12C is correct for what we have in DCS, GBU-12B is for a variant of the GBU-12 we don’t have yet (fixed fin paveway 1 variant). GBU-10M is the correct option for what we have in DCS as well. The other GBU-10 options are for GBU-10 variants that don’t exist in DCS.4 points

CURRENT VERSION: 2024-04-26b DOWNLOAD LINK: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3331710/ 10 PERCENT TRUE: https://www.10percenttrue.com/ Welcome to Inherent Resolve, a DCS F-15E Strike Eagle Mission designed by Sedlo for the 10 Percent True Podcast. This is an Close Air Support Mission set on the Syria Map and can be played single-player or multi-crew. See Read_Me file in the included ,zip for more information. There are two versions of this mission inside the zip file. One is a Cold Start and the other an Air Start. The Air Start version puts you at the refueling track, full of gas and ready to take on any tasking you receive. It is recommended to fly the Cold Start Version first though, as you will receive more information about the mission. NOTE: If you are playing multicrew, it must be a locally hosted multiplayer session. Due to the complex triggers and scripts in the mission you cannot use the Dedicated Server. This mission is designed for players who are proficient in the DCS F-15E module and its weapons systems. Examples of challenges you may face include: • Basic aircraft handling, such as take offs and landings • Use of the various radio and navigation systems. • Air to Air Refueling. • Dynamic re-tasking in a fast-paced environment. • Use of the targeting pod and employment of weapons systems. (It is essential that you read and understand the included mission briefing documents AND the Read_Me file included in the .zip) In addition, familiarity with US military terms and abbreviations is helpful to understand what is going on in the flight. A glossary of useful terms is available at the end of Steve Davies’ excellent book Be Afraid of the Dark, which you can find in your DCS World ClosedBeta\Mods\aircraft\F-15E\Doc folder. NOTE: You MUST own RAZBAM’s F-15E Strike Eagle module and you MUST own UGRA MEDIA’s Syria Terrain in order to play this mission! ************* INSTALLATION: Unzip the contents of the download to your folder at Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Missions ************* MISSION OBJECTIVES Today’s mission (XR-352-P) has three main objectives: • Provide On Call CAS support in the southern Section of the AO from 06:30z to 09:00z. • Train with 93rd ARW out of Fairchild AFB, newly arrived in theatre. • Familiarization with Local area and AO procedures ************* WEATHER AND NOTAMS OVERVIEW A weakening high-pressure system overhead the southern AO will slowly give way to a warm front approaching from the Mediterranean. Sometimes it's better to remain silent It was 1965. There are 3'rd gen fighters coming into Vietnam, when VPAF becomes couple first outdated MiG-17. There are no great effects at first. Nobody expects it. Pilots are not properly trained, and there's lack of proper tactics. Soon arrive a North Korea voluntears. They bring own tactic, and experience. At the beginning VPAF posess only 17 fighters. They're send against hundreds of US fighters and bombers. Very soon surprised USN and USAF pilots discovered , that one can't outturn, can't outdive, and can't outclimb a Gen I fighter. Somehow 6 planes is sometimes enough to force 200 planes mission to abort. Soon more MiG-17 comes to VPAF. Losses build up. Then came 23 August 1967. 10 PLAF MiG-17F lead by Nguyễn Nhật Chiêu intercepts 52 US Fighters led by famous Col. Robin Olds. USA looses 3 Aircraft. 3 airman are captured and 2 others are dead. A story seldom told. Isn't it? VPAF costs? 1 damaged MiG-21 (no MiG-17 was scratched, in spite playing a role of a bait) Colonel Robin Olds learned that Seventh Air Force intelligence had watched North Vietnamese MiG fighters practicing their new tactics for ten days prior to the battle of 23 August, but had not passed that information on to the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing and other units. Thus, it soon became clear to U.S commanders that the reason the North Vietnamese repeatedly stood down their fighter force was because they were working on their new tactic. Between August 1967 and February 1968, the North Vietnamese Air Force achieved a kill ratio of 1.1:1 against the USAF, with the loss of 20 aircraft for 22 victories. In the same period of time, Operation Rolling Thunder had cost the United States approximately $900 million ($5,640 million at 2010 prices) with the loss of more than 700 aircraft. Something must be done. USAF gives specification for F-4E - they need their guns back. USN comes with another approach. A first group of instructors came to a Miramar California. A place later called a Fightertown. TOP GUN is born. Compared to MiG-15 - MiG-17 has stiffer wings, and can dive with full thrust without losing wings or steering capability. Bigger thrust gives him such agility , that first USA fighter capable to match its turn rate is... F-16A. If you want to learn more about MiG-17 search in Google for "have doughnut" secret flight tests program. There's also film in YT. See what US pilots told about MiG-17 and you'll understand. DCS Without MiG-17 isn't complete. (source of info - Wikipedia and Bill Gunstons "F-4 Phantom II")3 points

Hi, we have tried giving timelines in the past, and when dates change as the inevitably do to many people get upset. Not giving fixed public dates works best for us, most people understand the complexity of what we are doing and understand we will share news when we can. We do have some threads like for the F-16 and F/A-18C that lists what we are working on, and colour code what has been complete, but we will not give timelines. thank you3 points

OK, no idea why everything else I wrote didn't appear on this post...but to re-cap...version 0.5 is out and attached. It includes functions for EDM and fuel displays that can either publish data into a single tile (see pics) or just extract a single element of data (also see pic for simple fuel example). Simple Fuel = 8368 EDM = 81100 Full Full = 8383 My typos on the first round of UFC were fixed and the WSO UFC is in place also. This has created a numbering discrepancy between what I was doing and what Norsk-L used for his StreamDeck Profile (F-15E Stream Deck XL Pilot & WSO Full Cockpit (digitalcombatsimulator.com) so for now I've included both and at the top of the file there is a field you can edit called Norsk_UFC to tell the script you want to use the numbering convention that works for Norsk-L. Just change it from "FALSE" to "TRUE". I won't produce any further updates until I have a draft of the combination of Bailey's script and mine - at that point I'm happy to list out any conflicts/choices that need to be made so the community can decide which way to go for a final draft then release version. Things I still need from you: 1. Are the UFC outputs crashing the interface? If so any idea what is it trying to show when it happens? 2. Apart from a repeat of HUD data (already requested) are there any functions/feature to go into my backlog? 3. Any missing fields or indicators/switches that should have their output format changed? Most are just 1 decimal place numbers at the moment, a few needed to be changed already. F-15ESE.lua3 points

@Str][ker Near. perfect. post. These videos are of great help, if only the last one came with the DCS track, which is the first thing we ask for . Without the track, all that I can say is: "indeed, it's not visible on your PC". First, let me explain why I badly need tracks. Part of us -like myself- are benevolent testers. I for one don't land planes on carriers, because that's not what I'm into when playing DCS. I don't do AAR either. I don't like it, and I'm not paid to do it. Why would I bother? My favorite plane is the Viggen anyway. In the absence of user tracks regarding DCS tasks I'm not familiar with, I sometimes try to make one by myself: when it comes to AAR and carrier landing, it is executed very poorly, and devs are not happy, telling me such things as "you're not in the glide slope". You bet I'm not. I don't usually fly this thing! That's one of the reasons I keep asking for tracks: I need a hand from you guys to perfectly execute tasks you do on a weekly basis. If you accepted to provide a short DCS track, you'd give me the power to: See the problem with my own eyes on my own PC (the bug can now be tagged "reported") , Send it to devs so they can see it with their own eyes on they own PC (the bug gets acknowledged by devs and they can plan a fix), Test a fix for it with my own eyes on my own PC (the bug is fixed... or not - the videos you provided are very useful at this stage). If you don't, I wont be able to help on this one, sorry.3 points

the cyclic is very sensitive to the touch, you barely move it and the helicopter moves about. so, in the real thing, how does one fly it with turbulence and g-forces without losing control? maybe the controls are way too sensitive? the mass of the aircraft and the large 4 blade rotating disk should offer inertia and gyroscopic stability...3 points

Please, don't minimize this. The change is very large in terms of % and is caused by some negative resource allocation. Possibly VRAM, RAM, or something else, in any case too many processes are going on that haven't happened before. This may also be the tip of the iceberg, as there are also occasional freezes in the game starting with this patch, which has been addressed here. acc. For me, both issues are related. It's not only the opening but also the closing of DCS and perhaps micro freezes during gameplay.3 points
-
Why would you feel compelled to spend time negatively responding to a post in which players are trying to note impacting game change observations to help others out and to find out if there's something which needs attention from ED? I honestly don't understand people like you who feel that then have to weigh in on conversations others are having. I personally came here to see if others are having this issue too and so this conversation was helpful. As other stated, the significantly increased load times can impact people who are trying to adjust settings or are troubleshooting other issues (such as I have been doing). Take your poor attitude elsewhere please. Nobody needs to hear it here.3 points

Hi OnReTech team, First, I would like to say thanks and great job on the new map! The Israeli coast line and mountains in the north and center of the country looks great and very recognizable. As for the subject of this post, with the upcoming introduction of the F15E module with a close proximity to this map, I would imagine that many people would like to operate the IAF F15I from its real air base - Hartzerim AFB (according to open sources like wikipedia). However, from examining the airbase in Google Earth we can see that only 2 or 3 HAS clusters can fit a 19.5m long F15E: NE side of the base near RW 28R, there is a V shaped HAS cluster with 5 HAS on each side of the V. These are in the map, but they are not selectable as a parking spot. These are 25m long. 1A. the inside of the HAS is modeled correctly as a arch, but again from the satellite photos they should have a concrete celling which will make them a HAS and not a simple hangar. SE side of the base near RW 28L has a structure with 7 HAS inline - with the middle one blocked by a structure. So that’s another place with a 33m long hangar. Same situation, the hangar is in the map (5 and not 7 hangars), just not selectable. 2A. Same here, the HAS has an arch internal structure but a concrete celling. East side between RW28R and L there is a “zigzag” HAS which appears to be 28m long which is already in the map and working properly. Please try to at least make the first 2 parking clusters selectable and if possible improve their models to have the right amount of parking spots and armored roof as can be seen from the satellite photos. It will make a lot of future F15E/I drivers happy. In the case that a new model will be created for The 6-7 spots straight HAS, its also present in Tel Nof AFB SE and North side and the V shaped HAS is in the South side next to RW36. As a third priority, I would also like to point the F16 HAS parkings in Hatzerim AFB between RW 28R/L from both sides of the taxiway, there are 3 HAS structures with 6 parkings each that should be 19m long with concrete celling instead of the current wedge shaped roof, which is currently too short even for a F16 and not armored. The same HAS type is also present between RW 28R and the V shaped HAS. This type of HAS is also present in other bases like Hatzor, Tel Nof and Ramat David. The rest of the parkings in the western side of Hatzerim AFB are good as they are, as they are probably used for pilot training M346 and T6. some of these places are better seen in Apple or Bing maps compared to Goggle maps/earth, in case more angles are needed for modeling. Thanks.2 points

Hey guys, after many weeks of trials and tribulations, i have finally gotten the Panavia Tornado Altimeter i purchased on Ebay to work with DCS, and wanted to share it with you: 20230627_170809.mp4 20230627_170644.mp4 It looks similar enough to the one in the tomcat that i think this will fit perfectly into my pit. Heres the code for anybody interested, feel free to share/edit @AusMumbles a couple weeks back you mentioned sharing some revised plans for your cockpit frame, hows that coming along? (No pressure of course, its a privilege to even have tried and true plans) Cheers guys, Elo Altimeter_AllInOne.ino2 points

If I can add to that some additional good advice: -Be on comms, some PvP servers have gci humans that talk you through the overall picture and bandits, if not, the rest of people could do. -Plan ahead, at least setup a basic flight plan, I normally create a way point of the general area I want to bomb, and some other way points on the 1/2 closest enemy airfields where bogeys will very likely come from. -Don't fly low unless you need too, in most challenging servers I play in (blueglag, ddcs) most of the time you die off manpads when you are too focused on other bandits or targets, flying high alse give you scape options and make difficult to jump on you in a very stealthy manner (unless you are operating in very high mountains with deep valleys). -Respect the Mar against airborne threats and high digits SAMs. -Don't stay like a fool over enemy territory, you go in just to release a strike or intercept a bandit, but you are suppose to come back to a safe area, at least to the friendly side of the Forward line of troops where you rebuild your SA. It's tricky, but you just gotta maintain your SA via TEWS, F10 map(If allowed), spam bogey dope, IFF/NCTR, and most importantly, good radar management. The few PVP servers that I've been playing on have avoided having the same airframe on both sides, so that also helps quite a bit. If you feel like you're losing SA, bug out and reset. Having a WSO helps a lot as well. Thus far, my main concern is the good flanker pilots who never turn on their radar and employ their ETs via IRST. Luckily, good flanker pilots are extinct in the wild, esp. in one of those 'fast-paced' PVP servers lol.2 points

Double tips. Read manuals, watch well-made and accurate tutorials, and make an effort to learn. If you are unwilling to do any of this, it makes your life in the pit so much harder. Buy the modules that you are interested in using and learning, but always do your research so that you don’t run into buyers remorse. Stay safe!2 points

For anyone that would like to take a shot at this, I think (hope) that the apache Lua in the library includes this feature. I made it for the keypad. Feel free to adapt it to the F-15E. How it works is that you can designate how many characters there are in a line. The rest will go to the newline and so on automatically. For the F15 you may want to include a "if space then newline" feature for readability.2 points

Hi all, One of the challenges I have and I'm sure many people will echo in DCS is placing objects correctly in the mission editor. Yes, you can now see the objects correctly sized in the mission editor but that doesn't help that much when you need to take into account the topology of the terrain. Altitude and satellite view help but it would be really useful to be able to move objects around to edit them in a fully 3d rendered scene. The number of times I've had to start the game to view how an object such as a radar is sitting and then edit it again in the mission editor, pretty much every time really..2 points

Pages 298-300 for A-A RADAR, pages 378-379 for A-G RADAR, and pages 411-412 for LANTIRN are the ones to print out for Qref. They give you all the relevant functions in each mode and with various preconditions.2 points

I don't know exactly why, but this is the only jet in DCS that I can't map my cutoff/idle on the throttle axis. I have a winwing taurus, and if I try to map IDLE/CUTOFF like the other jets, it fouls the start procedure when I bring it out of cutoff to idle. The jet shuts down shortly after start. So I have to leave it unmapped and click the virtual throttle lever with the mouse. It works fine, but it's just not as nice as moving the physical throttle out of CUTOFF like I can with every other module. Please provide us with an option that works like the other modules. It would be greatly appreciated by a lot of us I think. I'm not certain, but I think the others work as an "else" function, such that the jet is in CUTOFF as long as the switch is held on, else the throttle advances to idle when switch is turned OFF.2 points

can reproduce. Makes me reslot to fix it. Literally 100% reproduction. If I hit the edge of the screen, my cursor dies, no more motion. I can 'reset' its position by using the swap screen button, or by entering boresight mode, but the cursor remains dead from this point on, the only solution is reslot. Relevant hardware is Stick - Virpil WARBRD + Connie Alpha Throttle - Virpil CM3 passed through joystick gremlin (VJoy) Heat tracker - TrackIR5 Relevant software Keybinds are Analogue Axis input, NO axis tweaks (curves/deadzones/saturation etc), from the ministick TDC on the throttle Cursor Enter as the depress function on the ministick used for motion.2 points

Version 2.67 is out. It fixes the SA342 and fixes/greatly improves the A-4. I'm currently working 2.68 for the F-15E. I plan to release a bare-bones profile shortly, but since it shares code with the F/A-18 I want to make sure it's properly regression tested before I put it out for a public release.2 points
