  1. Oshkosh M-ATV MRAP (USA) version 1.0.0 released! Changelog Version 1.0.0 Release version
    10 points
  2. Good Afternoon Everyone. I have released the Cruise Ship Allure of the Seas and the LNG Ships Pack. There are two versions of the Allure of the Seas Cruise Ship. One version has dimmed lighting. It can be located in the ATSs Mod Shapes folder. The Commercial Mods can be located here: Admiral189 DCS World Mods The Allure of the Seas is an Oasis-class cruise ship owned and operated by Royal Caribbean International. As of 2018, the Oasis class ships were the largest passenger vessels ever in service, and Allure is 50 millimeters longer than her sister ship Oasis of the Seas, though both were built to the same specifications. Mozah is a Q-Max LNG carrier operated by Qatargas II. The vessel was built in 2008 by Samsung Heavy Industries and is tied with her sister ships for the largest LNG carrier in the world. The vessel is part of a contract for 14 same-size ships with maximum particulars to berth at Ras Laffan terminal in Qatar. The LNG Ship below is a generic Liquid Natural Gas Ship

  3. Sure, since it was such a quick project.

  4. Thanks! It was a pretty quick project, started yesterday afternoon. It's faster when there aren't as many weapons present.

  5. It's possible that Ed will implement the visor option to the pilot, like the Razbam's F-15E??

  6. Yep, in two versions, one with the 50 cal and one with the Mk 19 AGL. The Mk 19 is equipped with the M430A1 HEDP and will therefore penetrate armor at closer range. For example a BTR from behind.

  7. Thank you, much appreciated! Every single dollar counts since I use it in full towards new assets. There will definitely be more tanks and IFVs. Thank you! I've mentioned it before, but all these advanced systems are workarounds I make to emulate the real thing. If ED decides to implement built-in feature I will update accordingly. You may have misunderstood my answer. The current version of my T-90M has Arena-M APS implemented. Using the same type of solution as the Challenger 3. When I sought out to implement a working hard-kill active protection system for both naval and ground units I tried a plethora of solutions, ranging from small missiles of different kinds to projectile based weapons. I chose the current solution because it emulated the results the best. That doesn't mean it looks the most convincing, but rather produces the intended outcome, i.e. defeating incoming AGMs or ATGMs. It currently cannot detect and defeat incoming shells, because I can't make DCS detect them like I can with missile type weapons. When creating new assets I usually find a new and better way to emulate some weapon systems. As you know I always go back and update older assets to the same level.

  8. Cluster Munition still needs some love. While Mk20 had at least got some love, the bomblets in the CBU-87/99 seem to be still as ineffective as ever. A good test is to drop a cluster bomb on an array with infantry some 5m apart each. IRL there should be no one left in fighting condition after a couple dozen HE bomblets threw their shrapnel in a radius of 30-35m (we can agree the HE effect is at least similar to a standard hand grenade). In DCS the 20mm, 25mm, 30mm gun ammunition and luckily the rockets after they were finally fixed, still causes more damage to infantry in the open, than cluster bombs. I am not saying everyone in the area hit with a CBU-87/99 will be dead, but surely incapacitated and out of the fight and that is what matters. This should apply to unarmored vehicles/trucks, as well, and to a lesser degree to lightly armored vehicles, like an M-113, TPz Fuchs, Humvee or BRDM-2, if they take a direct hit or stand in the center getting blasted by 3, 4 or more exploding bomblets.

  9. Some of you probably have pretty good Helicopter flying skills. I would love to see if one of you can do what this USCG MH-65 Dolphin is doing. Hovering just fwd of the Allure of the Seas while the ship is in motion.

  10. The latest update seems to be either deeply unfinished, or just plain broken. And it certainly wasn't properly tested. Previously, it was possible to tolerate occasional performance drops and avoid problematic areas by looking other way or flying high enough. Now, virtually all cities on this map (and, by extension, their adjacent aerodromes) have horrendous performance from any angle and altitude. Moreso, all these allegedly improved cities look godawful, with the non-matching "generic grass" and "generic dirt" textures slapped over the satellite imagery, and with all houses arranged into repetitive Lego blocks. Yes, I couldn't believe my eyes too, so I disabled all mods, cleared all shaders, and for first time in my life did the slow repair. It didn't help Punta Arenas, 20 fps: Rio Grande, 17 fps: Ushuaia, 25 fps: Rio Gallegos, 17 fps: Puerto Natales, 28 fps: El Calafate, 30 fps: P.S. Like many others above, I have no major performance issues with other DCS maps, and can comfortably fly heavy modules over Cairo.

  11. The rest of the cockpit-changes: And here are the new RADAR-Fucntions: And here you'll find the update 2.8.4.200: https://filehorst.de/folder.php?key=duuqITUb The update is standalone. Please delete the previous version and install this one. You can install the liveries onto this mod (mod-folder), or unzip them and insert them into a folder named VSN_F4B or VSN_F4C in your saved games/dcs/liveries folder.

  12. Download directly from Mega: https://mega.nz/file/Y6xkUAxJ#JbPhlP5gqdNr91E9nHhC3Q8lajvc0dyQ7ZMd8tFJRzA Or through the User Files with a README: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3335542/ Artwork created by Biwi | Alpha Check Designs With my new Texture Template completed I decided to start creating the Have Glass V coating/paint modification for the Viper as liveries. After a lot of changes and adjustments I have all the Block 50 USAF squadrons that are flying a jet with the Have Glass V paint completed. That would be the following: 480th Warhawks 55th Fighting Fifty Fifth 77th Gamblers 79th Tigers 179th Bulldogs default Have Glass V So 5 squadron skins, with dynamic numbers, and 1 unmarked default skin which should always be installed. Also included are Have Glass painted external fuel tanks and pylons which can be interchanged with the default textures as you like. However the main idea changed and now I also intent to make the skins function so that the Have Glass paint will reduce the RCS. So additionally I want to release a very simple mod that gives you another F-16C to choose from in the Mission Editor, with a reduced RCS and the skins. In DCS World the simulation of the RCS for most aircraft is defined by a single static value in a LUA file. The default value will be reduced by 76% which is based on multiple online sources suggesting this to be the average reduction of the RCS. The default F-16C will not be affected and keep it's original RCS. First I will be releasing the skins sometime in the next (two) weeks. I already have my eyes on more jets like some of the 77th & 79th FS with black markings and the 96-0080 from the 480th FS which I would release separately.

  14. This would be a general question/advice ! I can see a lot of people asking for more naval assets. While those already provided by CH are definitely at next quality level, I'm just wondering how more of naval assets may improve the overall gameplay? The reasons asking this question is just to understand better naval appliances so that I could add them in the missions I'm trying to build. My personal take by now is that flying long flights over water hunting ships that I cannot really see is a bit boring. Similar about their long range artillery attack... not really seeing the source :)... so any ship is having quite similar effect. Letting alone you cannot approach ships by helicopters at all. Instead, the ground units are definitely more "up, close and personal". You can see them, you can feel by driving them... For me, the sweedish soldiers are the best assets created by CH from gameplay perspective. They are efficient, can be transported by any means, create ambushes, etc. More such soldiers I would like to see on red side as well. Also, some logistic equipment (like bergenpanzers, recovery vehicles, etc) could create some more sense to the missions ... This is not addressed to CH, but more to general audience in here ! Really looking forward for your advices!

  18. Yes, sorry for the lack of updates. As for the “bolter” bug. This was I introduced either with the last “fix” to the edm deck height issue. Or something I did messing with the damage code. And I’ve not had to to sort it out. I do have one that works but it’s the version with the static object deck height bug. Since the last “fix” seems ti have add new bugs I think the plan is to just get working on the new model. I will update the thread soon.

  19. This is fantastic, I'm waiting for that for my scenario in Syria. Thank you. Edit: Will that vehicle have a troop transport option?

  23. How? All of those are military aircraft with absolutely a role to play in combat. How are aircraft involved in combat operations in anyway deterring DCS from being a combat simulator? They would do the exact opposite - again, these are military aircraft. They have a real role to play in real operations, how could they do anything else but add to the realism? I mean, the UH-60 is on your list, for which the REDFOR counterpart already exists - the Mi-8MTV-2, I don't see how that has taken away anything from the combat simulation - it's done exactly the opposite; before the Hind, it was the only option that REDFOR had of inserting troops by helicopter, a role it plays in real life. BLUFOR at the moment only really has the Huey, but a UH-60L/M would better complement the Apache, just as the Mi-8MTV-2 complements the Mi-24P. The C-130, C-17 and CH-47 are already present as AI units in DCS (alongside the An-26, An-30, Il-76MD and Yak-40), do you feel as if they're taking away from the realism now? If you don't, how would a player aircraft (which we're getting anyway for the C-130 and CH-47) be any different? It's fine to prefer that another aircraft that isn't "heavy" be developed, but I'm finding this point about realism to be baseless - there's absolutely nothing realistic in having combat flying and engagements without logistics, especially aircraft responsible for things like troop insertion (which constitutes the majority of your list). The lure of DCS is something entirely subjective - there's no right way to play the game, even if you just want to use it as you would MSFS but for military aircraft (in fact that's one of the things its best at). And all of the aircraft listed (especially the C-130, CH-47 and UH-60) have a combat role to play.

  25. Bottom line why does the ALR-56M on the F-16 use 3 staged method of Search, Track and Launch for the rings. It does not use signal strength to determine lethality like the other sets modeled in DCS? The ALR-56M that the F-16 came with at launch acted like it's other ALR brothers but in recent updates it performs differently. These clips are straight from the DCS Manuals. It doesn't make much sense to be merged with a Fulcrum for it to show up on the outer perimeter just because their radar is searching and not tracking you. Why is that? 26. This is a subject where there is little hard benchmark data .. this is the best I could find: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-ntfs-compression,3073.html Seems that the performance hit would be very small if you have a reasonably modern multicore processor, but the space gained is not a lot either, around 20% extra space. On my own case, I prefer to have the drive not compressed .. as the SSD drive costs nowadays are pretty low.

  27. What if you want to fly a heavy, and have your friends escort you? Then drop cargo into a hot LZ end try to get away evading incoming fire? Do the products from MS or Laminar provide that? People fly DCS for various reasons. I think it would be best if we try not to tell them how to have fun. Flying a military transport plane can be fun, especially in missions like Foothold where it can really make a difference to supply an airbase via a successful transport mission. I'm seeing very, very interesting mission mixes ahead when we get access to Hercs, and I think it is to the betterment of the entire game.

  28. I do have a C-160 for MSFS and it's fun, but it doesn't come close to flying a C-160 tanker in a COOP with a couple of fighter-buddies on my wing, flying an attack mission into some far off airfield in a country you'd have trouble finding on a map (Armée de l'Air in Chad). Or dropping paras into a hot LZ far behind enemy lines (SAAF in Angola). Flying logistical support to some FARP/ airstrip somewhere in the bush, unloading choppers which then could be used to scout the area or FAC-A fighters. Evacuating folks from some place for some reason, under fire. Finding people in a boat in distress out on the sea, dropping emergency supplies. Then there's ELINT sub-versions of transports. There's a royal duckton of fun activities to be experienced in transport-category aircraft in DCS.

  29. About the mixture levers, the plane was equipped with automatic mixture regulators, which could either maintain rich or weak. So in practical terms the levers had only fixed positions (similar to US planes, but two positions in this case) and you can forget about them for now, unless you really want to practice saving fuel during cruise. Follow razo+r's advice about the rest. The plane isn't very difficult or unusual to liftoff really and doesn't require flaps as long as airspeed and trim are correct.

  30. I'm not really sure why this was moved to wish list, I don't see how making the GMT radar mode not borderline unusable would be a wish list item and not just a bug. Just as a hypothetical, lets apply the same logic to the the air-to-air radar. If the A-A radar also needed obtusely precise cursor placement and would drop lock if you weren't flying perfectly straight, would that also be a wish list item and not a bug? Does ED not consider this a bug? I'd love to have a bit more clarity on this.

  34. I got a one (a Reverb G2, v2) about 8 months ago after using a Quest 2 . I thought and still think its a substantial improvement over my Quest 2 for sim games. I got a refurbished one on Ebay for around $300 with a one-year Allstate warranty Ebay provided. Haven't had any issues with it yet. But with my luck all the problems will come after the warranty expires LOL!

  35. For some reason, the Mosquito’s “neutral” nose trim at typical cruising speeds is around 2 notches “forwards” on the indicator. This is quite a lot and takes a long press of the “trim nose down” assigned button. Make it a habit to trim elevator 2 notches forward before take-off (10 deg flaps also smoothens the takeoff). This will lift your tail by itself at around 100 mph, and after takeoff accelerating past the safe speed your trim will require only small adjustments.

  36. Thank you very much - this is awesome. As of today, I've started donating more regularly - it ain't much but I hope every dollar (or Euro) counts. If possible, at some point in the future, do you plan to retrofit the existing M1 Abrams and Merkava tanks (in DCS's Combined Arms) with the Trophy APS? I'm also aware that the Leopard 2A7 comes with the Trophy system (although I understand that 3D models might be hard to find). Also, there exists M2 Bradleys equipped with the Iron Fist active protection system - the Iron Fist system is also designed and built in Israel. Here are some reference photos.

  38. =617=Evil I can never thank you enough for the find work you have done on these missions. I will always be happy to pay for the work you have done, becuase it has helped me become so much more proficient in the F-16. I was wondering if you would ever consider doing the same missions in the F-15E, since it could be years before we see these kind of training missions for the F-15E and I really like to maintain the same proficiency in both aircraft. Best Regards, Checkmate

  39. It is an open beta, expect bugs which will be fixed as they progress. Submit bug reports or not it’s up to you. No need to to get annoyed just take a break for a bit or wait for release. I’m sure they appreciate any well done reports, not so much the ones that are just a whine…

  40. After little research i found a solution, thanks to which you can be a cool guy with a new visor every day. In the description of the skin, we change the values for the external view, and at the bottom (VR/OTHER PILOTS) of the internal one, how we see this visor when we put it on (i hope), and how we see other player/AI, so both upper and lower should be changed. Have fun! @Timghetta I don't know it is possible but if is, it should be selectable somewhere in mission editor, or radio menu like visor/nvg.

  41. This was literally a one character change, which seemed worth doing for all the people who try to use this as a BFM exploit (aka nearly everyone who asks about it). Spending a total of 3 seconds on code changes relevant to this topic is about as much as it deserves.
