  1. Hello Nvve. thanks, I've already updated the constellation to the correct dimensions. Thanks for catching it. I'm only human. I will release an updated version when I can thanks. Thanks, Citizen and Toan. Really nice photos it shows you all are enjoying the mods. Sometimes I sit and wonder how often you all sit and play with the mods. Post some of your pics here so the community can see it. Hey, Spino. the Arleigh Burke Flight Class is almost done. It has taken a while because I want to try and bring out as many features as possible in DCS. I am finishing up the liveries on the HMS Richmond. I think I've done all I can do for her so I will release her soon. Thanks, Hawkeye. The link for donations is at the bottom of my Admiral189dcsworldmods I have a back procedure tomorrow so I will be down for a few days. It will take some time to recover from this one but I'm praying this is the last one. Keep the Snapshots coming. It keeps me motivated. Thank you all for your interest.

  2. Hi fighters! Today we will look at optimization. The team is working on improvements to the map, but the more detail and uniqueness we add, the more effort it takes to optimize. Hard work has been done on all areas of the map: models have been optimized, textures have been reassembled, vector data rendering on clipmaps has been updated - all this has had a positive effect! We conducted tests on two systems: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x / RTX 2080Ti and i9-10850K / RTX 4080 When flying over a city, FPS increased by an incredible 20%, and while on a system with a 2080ti the average FPS was at 85, now it confidently remains around 110. When flying over a forest, FPS increased from 5% to 20% compared to the previous build. When testing the 2080ti system, the fps was always above 105. One does not simply release an update with optimization. We have added 4 airfields: Amman Civil Airport Herzliya Airport (NOTAM: RWY LENGTH 1500M) King Abdullah II Air Base Prince Hussein Air Base This will increase your flight geography and diversify your missions. Explore new airfields and get ready to take off Prince Hassan Airbase King Abdullah II Airbase

  3. As topic stated, I love DCS: World. With that in mind, I want to give you my thanks. But most of all, I love you all. Each programmer, artist, project manager, public liaison, and every job title in between, thank you. The beauty of DCS: World has always captured my heart. Through all the patches, all the updates, all the complaints, all the resolutions, all the anticipation with all the possibilities (oh there are endless at that), and all the Nick Grey, Matt Wagner "Wag", Nineline, BigNewy, all the yearly updates with Nick Grey's voice over, and many may more, I cannot thank you enough. I came from a different flight sim hobby background, but from an era where 486 DX33 w/ 16 MEG RAM was the best I could have. I want to express a wholeheartedly thank you for what you, the programmer, the renderer, the troubleshooter, the project manager, the community relations liaison, and the quality assurance specialist who made DCS: World into what it is today. Fact is, love, may comes from all angles and all walks of life; from mine, I am grateful for Eagle Dynamics and the heights they have achieve thus far. Thanks, guys and gals, and Nick's DCS team, you ALL rock. Best, Your fan. Big Oops re RAM amount: After the comments I collected below, I think it was 4 megs originally in 1991 followed by another 4 meg many years later in 1995-1996 (it was my summer break during high school, I recall). Yeah, 16 meg... that's a no way. Sorry, it's 28 yrs ago, and my memory for that PC RAM amount got fussy. Thanks for the correction!

  4. The year is slowly coming to a close and the WWII part of DCS is leaving a bitter taste for me. I am wondering if ED has any plans to adress some of the issues that have been around for years, finish the modules or just generally communicate more? My main concernes are: - Searchlights: Are there any plans to finish them? The blinding effect is... terrible, the light beam effect depends on the FoV and the maximum amount of working lights in a single group is 3. They never really worked well since they have been introduced back in 2020. They have once experienced a change with version 2.7 (Sep. 2021, removed the requirement to set a trigger to active the units), that's about it. No updates, no changes, no communication, nothing. - Trains: They never really worked since they were introduced into DCS, and that was in 2017. They're just a pain to work with so I mostly ignore them. They still drive in reverse after reaching the last waypoint. They still ignore the speed settings. On some maps they are still in the ground. Some maps only let them drive in one single direction. - Assets pack, Air units: The selection of ground units is really good. We have a good variery of diverse ground units to chose from. But the selection for aircraft is lacking. We had the B-17 for an eternity, then after a while we got the A-20 and Ju-88. There are more aircraft planned by ED, but I have yet to see or hear anything of them. - Assets pack, V1: Is there any plan to finally get the V1 we have in the game into the air? I personally don't care if our current aircraft can shoot it down or not, but it would be really, really cool to finally have it fly and buzz across the skies of DCS. - Assets pack, ground units: There are still plenty of vehicles that have no crew modeled, or only half modeled. There also seems to be no intend to finally place some people into them. There are also plenty of bugs with assets pack units that are reported for years and still awaiting a fix. I know you keep saying your WWII team is small, but if you continue to handle paid products like that I definitly will start to think twice about buying an assets pack again. - Forums: It seems the activity of ED officials has really decreased. Newly reported bugs don't get tags and ancient reported and fixed topics don't get their tags updated. It just leads to confusion and gives me kind of an abandoned feeling. - Modules: They generally also give off an abandoned feeling for me. They are all in a playable state, but it seems no effort is given in polishing them. I mean cool, we finally have gotten chocks for them after some years of waiting. What about the 3D issues that some modules have since their release? That the Mosquito is still the only aircraft which fuel tanks leak at spawn, has a sensitive tail wheel and the wiper still doesn't work. Or the Fw-190A, what happened to the F8 that you talked about? What about the erhöhte Notleistung or whatever it is called? Anything about the AFN-2 simulation? That one has changed several times without any comments but probably still remains incorrect. And the P-47, also several 3D issues since release. The issues with the engines/prop that just get ignored? Note that like I've said above, it might give a wrong impression just seeing Reported, Reported, Reported, Reported while some of them might be fixed. They're just the ones that I can remember the easiest. - Ground bases: There was also a video by SUNTSAG where he showed off a feature similar to a FARP but with vehicles only. Anything about that? That's all for now. I hope we, or at least I, can get some clarification about the points above. WWII in DCS has such a big potential, but by keeping so many so ancient issues alive, it just keeps driving me away from it again and again.

  6. Some older modules like the Huey and Mi-8 have some baked in reflections on the canopy that really don't look good. Particularly in VR as they are right in your face. Other modules have some VERY scratched up canopies, and while this may or may not be realistic (it sometimes feels very overdone) it would be nice if this was also an optional cosmetic feature as opposed to the only option. This mod that now fails IC went some way to correcting some of these problems previously:

  7. Back at it again after a longer period of only flying. Next pack gonna include jg4, 6, 300, jv44 and EKG(J). Jg 4 and 6 will include a generic staffel plane and a stabs bird like the other packs. 300 jv44 and ekg(j) will be one offs. Once these are done, ill be lookin into redoing the cockpit.

  8. Hi, allow me to add to this discussion. I was in the USAF during the early Vietnam years. My specialty was Aircraft Radio Repairman. I spent 2 years working on Phantoms. F4C and F4D models, but mostly on the F4D. I never worked on an F4E. The F4C was basically an F4B (Navy/ Marines version) with minimal required Air Force modifications such as flight controls in the rear cockpit, low pressure tires and a few other things. The radio used in the F4B and F4C was the RT 546. The F4D was the complete Air Force version with all the gadgets they required at the time. The Radio was changed to an RT793 and, as far as I can find out, remained the radio installed during the rest of the Air Force F4 Phantom production run which is what divinee said. And, as divinee said, the RT793 is related to the ARC 51. One time I got called out to check the radio on a plane I had never worked on before and the radio was an ARC 51 which I had never seen before. I took the radio back to the shop, opened it up and to my surprise, there was basically an RT793 hiding inside. Just a few small differences. From the outside they do not look at all alike. This photo link in Northstar98 above post shows the control box sitting on top of the grey RT793 radio unit. These would have been used in F4D and later air Force Phantoms. Navy and Marine Phantoms probably used different radios. PS- Squinting at the picture above it says it is actually an RT793A. There is probably some slight difference between the RT793 and RT793A. They may or may not be interchangeable. They look identical.

  9. I share your feeling too I truly have enjoyed this Sim since 2013 (not counting the DCS predecessors like Flanker, Lo-Mac and Blackshark) .. I feel truly grateful for ED's existence.

  10. It wouldn't, by very definition. If it were, the following things would also not be allowed in MP and should be removed as options: Playing in VR Playing in pancake Playing in a simpit Playing on multiple monitors Playing at any resolution above 720p Playing in a user-selected aircraft Using in-game voip Using out-of-game voip Using chat Everything else you can do in the game, really If disabling canopy reflections was an option, it would be… [drumroll] an option. Your decision not to use that option doesn't make others' opposite decision an exploit. If you feel you are at a disadvantage for picking an option, you are free to picking the other one. You are not the arbiter of what is an exploit and what isn't, and your dislike for any given option is wholly irrelevant in that determination. Your aesthetical preferences are also irrelevant. Fixing almost every aircraft in the game does not remove the need for the option, no matter how much better you think it looks. Those that don't like the look of canopy reflections would still not be served, and they'd be denied a trivial and useful option for such an utterly pointless reason as your unfounded PvP paranoia and personal preference. Oh, and since you love invoking the heavy burned on ED to make any change happen, you realise that the non-solution you're asking would take years to implement, whereas the actual solution can be churned out in a single afternoon (most of which is spent on coffee breaks), right? You're contradicting your own position, again. As always.

  11. Hey @MAESTR0, thank you for the update and much appreciation for your team. The Syria map is still my "goto" map most of the time and the range of what it offers is great. However - there is one major gripe I have with it as a helicopter guy. The LoD-pop-ins of fences and guardrails. It is very, very obvious (and annoying) when there is a running wave of LOD kicking in 100m in front of you flight path. Just fly around Incirlik and Adana in the instant action mission and it becomes very clear very fast. Obviously that would cost a frame or two of performance and it doesn't affect anyone that is flying high and fast. But Helicopters are more than an afterthought by now and your map is simply crying for helicopters. Please, please consider the to widen the Max-LoD-bubble for such ground details at least threefold. It is such an immersion killer. Thank you!!!

  12. Thanks. I see what the issue is. The combination of propelling charge and elevation limits doesn't allow it to fire in your particular mission setup. The minimum 20 degrees elevation would need a less powerful propelling charge, since its maximum elevation of 70 degrees makes it impossible to lob the shell at the close range target.

  15. Interesting, does this mean the map is being expanded slightly to the South given the new Airports listed, i mean Amman is right at the bottom, would seem odd to have a line of no terrain so close - Dead sea to be included?

  20. It's good to say things frankly, it's also good to recognize when certain people bring you joy and well-being and that's what DCS is doing by having created this simulation which brings us all that, and even if some people grumble about it. such and such a problem They and we are very happy to have them. Donations I repeat and will repeat every day Thank you DCS and, to all the team and those who work hard with them! Continue to make us dream and have a good flight everyone well done guys

  22. Actually there have been some minor changes: - The button on the FR24 radio that was used for the intercomm, does not work anymore, have to use the \ key instead. - The FR22 radio has changed a bit on its preset use, it no longer lists the radio channel of other units on the mission. - The parking brake has issues handling hardware toe brakes, you have to release the brakes perfectly in sync or else the parking brake disengages. I'm re-learning the Viggen in anticipation of the Kola Map release, and those are the items that I have noted so far, but I have not yet tackled the armament, so not sure if there are issues in that aspect yet. Thanks a lot for all your Guides, learning DCS without them would be really hard

  24. The less you use the trim button - the more you will get the SAS saturation warnings. This is the case because you don't actually reset the SAS stabilization points as stated above. And also you are fighting the SAS the whole time when not using the trim button - that is not ideal. I have a similar PC setup with dry clutch for my Warbird-D with extension and using the Virpil ACE Torq Pedals with Dampener. I am using and holding the force trim button every time when changing inputs in normal flight above 40 knots and also for the first hovering after startup. The only exception I do not use the trim button that often is when hovering is stable and just making minor changes to the inputs. When landing and below 40 knots I also do not use the trim button at all because I want the yaw stabilization to help keeping the nose on point. So better try and find a good button on your Hotas that you can penetrate very often without getting a numb thumb and try to stick to this procedure ;D Even with dry clutches you can not replicate the counter-pressure a stick would normally have in the real Apache while already trimmed. Using the trim button would release the pressure on the stick in the real Apache - so that lack of immersion on our peripherals is something we sadly have to deal with in DCS.

  25. Well a few things. First while the livery is outside, you can absolutely still see it, depending on the plane at least. You should absolutely be able to see your wingmen as well. This already means they can be useful for identification, which is true in real life. That's why roundels exist. This also implies a lot when it comes to historical accuracy. If two enemies have similar liveries that make them difficult to tell apart then you might want that in DCS to recreate the ambiguity faced by real pilots. Then of course there is no denying that while DCS is built around combat, it's not limited to that. People make vidoes, take screenshots, or simply look at things in the game that are visually interesting. I deliberately choose liveries in single player even if no one is going to see them. Someone somewhere probably does choose a livery to show off, but I feel like that's less common in DCS than in other games ruined by microtransactions that you mentioned. In any case, we do agree on the conclusion, some kind of livery management system seems like it would only be a good thing. More options to save space and the possibility for more liveries to be added to DCS. Everyone wins.

  26. Open Mod Manager don't care in which drive or directory Mods are to be applyed, you only must tell him where to apply... If I well understand what you wonder for: Yes, Open Mod Manager implements backup mechanism that allow to freely install and uninstall Mods on the fly. The main difference with JSGME is that under the hood, since Open Mod Manager is intended to work with compressed archives, data are copied instead of moved...

  27. If it's allowed then those who wish to use it will, and those who don't won't. It's personal preference, ultimately. ECW disabled IC for months just so people could use the spotting mod and this particular shader tweak. It was fine. I'd love to see the textures get fixed. It might never happen, at least for the older modules. In the meantime, it's two lines in a shader file. That's all that would require an on/off toggle.
    2 points
  28. Correct, but I am not in favor of making the perfect the enemy of the good. It could take months/years for an individual case by case fix to arrive. Something more universal/basic while we wait for those improvements in the meantime would be very welcome. Personally, I am generally more in favor or giving the customer more control over their cosmetic options. At heart this is a quality of life feature that is currently lacking. I used the clear canopy mod for a long time before the IC change banned it, as did many others, and it made a positive impact on my experience. While I'd welcome the Huey and Hip and other modules getting their canopy reflections individually fixed/updated, I don't expect that this would happen in a reasonable timeframe atm. And we had a working solution that did not require booking up the staff at ED who do texture work, whom I understand may have their scheduled booked up in up to a year in advance. While adjusting the shaders was not a perfect solution, it was a working one. Even just having that on/off option in the .lua files would be fantastic, as it would avoid having to schedule up any texture or UI work for now.

  29. AFAIK, there are only a few ground vehicles in the game that have their lights modelled as light sources (not that traffic does not really have light sources, merely a light texture that is painted on the road in front of them, making it appears as light, but those "lights" aren't emissive, they don't illuminate, they do not cast shadows. So except for the vehicles that do have missive lights, you can't turn them on. Those that do, turn them on automatically when it gets dark. Since I've got a bird brain, I forgot which of the ground vehicles in DCS have illuminating lights; it's some kind of a truck, and the LUV Tigr. Why so few illuminating light sources? Because they kill performance. Or used to. The new lighting that ED are working on (PG/SOH map) may make strides in lighting advancements, it's up to ED to tell us when this will trickle down to other maps. I'm still hoping for user-placable light sources. We'll see.

  34. It really doesn't. Even with a better solution in place, you would still come across situations where you'd want to turn in off. And just because it can be turned off doesn't mean there won't be situation where you'd want it to be on and see a better solution. There is zero connection between a quality option and an on-off option. …except for the ones who don't think it's well done. And the ones who think it's ugly. And the ones who want their frame time to be as small as possible. And the ones who still can't see through it properly, which was the problem all along.

Just updated to latest nvidia drivers, set this accordingly to prefer no sysmem fall back and booted mi24p Syria weapons range, straight load to cockpit 9.5gb usage of 10.5gb budget, smooth as you like, no overflow and no massive stutters! It was slightly laggier to load into F10 map but once loaded it was all smooth, certainly before I couldn't fly with 9.5gb usage! I've not tested it extensively but it initally seems to be a good workaround, excellent spot @desolunatic, go test it people
