I'm actually not sure anymore, which 2.9 update broke what. But the issue is that I don't want to spend a lot of time creating workarounds if ED is working on the root cause the same time. I risk not only to waste time, but also to make things worse.5 points

Hey! There is a bug in 2.9 causing this. I just tried the in game 052C with YJ-62 (using the same missile scheme as the YJ-18) and the exact same thing happens. To be sure ED is aware, I've filed a bug report. This means that a lot of my antiship missiles are experiencing this bug at the moment, unfortunately.5 points

I have never given it a real thought. I am more of a jet “pilot” than a heli “pilot”, however I prefer low altitude, up close and personal kind of approach. Kind of a mixed bag from users. Some say textures are the deterrent, some for performance, some for lack of assets and aircraft for the simulated time period/ location. I bought SA and I love SA for the terrain type. I have no performance issues per-se. Drops close to cities, yes, but not really worse than any other map. Not “un-playable” by any stretch of the word. I'm not a VR guy though so I have no reference in that aspect. I am also not a mission maker, so lacking some content, even basic free-flight missions is kind of a bummer… not a deal breaker though I suppose I would prefer things up close to look as good as they could. I can’t honestly say I’ve ever had a gripe about synthetic textures on other maps, nor do I know anything about how they are made. I would rather terrain look good overall rather than worrying about snow caps being scale replicas. If synthesized texture could bring about improved performance for those affected, then thats just all the better. At 20k+/- feet I’m not looking at the terrain on any map anyway. I’m busy programming the jet and heads down finding targets. Planning attack and keeping track of my Situational Awareness. Down low is where I like to “sightsee”. The terrain, especially flying through the fjords in Chile is amazing. Such a nice escape from the sand and desert routine. I could care less about period specific content or recreations of real life wars in the area and whether or not DCS has the appropriate assets. We have what we have and I think it’s a silly idea to avoid a map, in a video game, because if things like that.. To each their own of course. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and reasons I really hope the map succeeds for the long haul, It really is ambitious and pleasantly different than any others we have!5 points

DCS: AH-64D | Fire Control Radar Introduction COMING SOON NOTE. As always, these videos provide a preview of an upcoming feature to assist you in understanding a new feature. Later, it is quite possible that the feature will change, and the feature functionality has changed. As much as I’d like to, I lack the time re-record these videos. This is the first of several planned FCR video and is intended as a simple overview. In this DCS: AH-64D video, I’m going to introduce you to the Fire Control Radar, or FCR, of the Delta. The AN/APG-78 FCR was designed to enhance the target acquisition and engagement process of the AH-64D when faced with large numbers of enemy armor units moving across the battlefield. More than just a sensor for detecting and engaging targets, the FCR is a target classification and prioritization system that automates and accelerates the process of acquiring targets and determining which of those targets should be engaged to have the maximum effect on the battlefield with the limited number of munitions on board the aircraft. The FCR turns the Delta in a true force multiplier. It was developed in the 1980s for the Delta as the Airborne Adverse Weather Weapon System, or AAWWS, which was part of the Multi-Stage Improvement Program, or MSIP, to enhance the AH-64A. The AN/APG-78 is a millimeter-wave FCR target acquisition system that also includes a Radar Frequency Interferometer, or RFI. The FCR is housed in a dome located above the main rotor mast. The APG-78 is capable of simultaneously tracking up to 128 targets and engaging up to 16 at once, and an attack can be initiated within 30 seconds. The datalink allows FCR data to be shared with other Deltas and allows them to coordinate attacks using fire zones. It’s important to understand that performing a radar scan with the FCR can be thought of as taking a “photograph” of the battlefield. When multiple FCR scans are performed in succession, this is called a “scanburst”, which is like taking several photographs of the battlefield in rapid succession. It is during these photographs that the FCR is determining where the targets are, what targets are moving or stationary, and classifying each target within several target types, such as Tracked vehicles like tanks, Wheeled vehicles like trucks, Air Defense vehicles like a ZSU-23-4, or even fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. There are two types of scanbursts: a single scanburst and a continuous scanburst. A single scanburst takes several photographs of the battlefield and displays the state of the battlefield on the cockpit displays as a fixed, momentary snapshot in time. A continuous scanburst takes photograph after photograph of the battlefield and continues to update the state of the battlefield on the cockpit displays. Each time a new scanburst is initiated, all FCR data is deleted like throwing away the existing “photographs” and a new series of photographs are taken. This is very different than the air-to-ground radar modes that you may be familiar with like in the F-16 and F/A-18. When a scanburst is performed, the FCR page will only display the 16 targets that have been determined to be the highest priority. It will never display more than 16 target symbols because the AH-64D can only carry a maximum of 16 Hellfires. These 16 targets on the FCR page can be thought of as a “shoot list”, with a diamond placed around the highest priority, “Next-To-Shoot”, or NTS, target, and an inverted triangle placed around the second highest priority, “Alternate Next-To-Shoot”, target. The TSD can display more than 16 targets when set to the attack phase, but all low-priority target symbols will be displayed at half the size as the 16 high-priority target symbols. The C-SCOPE and ZOOM functions on the FCR page are not currently implemented, nor is the LINK function on the Sight-Select switch. These will come later in early access, along with other radar modes. That’s it for this introduction to the FCR. In the next video, we’ll explore deeper into setting up FCR pages and controls. Thanks for watching.5 points

I can't stop admiring and enjoying it! I still haven't found anything more realistic for myself among all the maps than the textures of Barthek's Caucasus4 points

It’s been a couple months before I found time to fly around in my uh-1 and wow! I’m getting 72fps in VR at marianas. Visuals are sharper might have to turn those down, gauges are easy to read. what a difference MT and DLSS has made. I’m going to start those campaigns again now that it’s playable. Congrats on your hard work. Rtx4070ti, oculus quest 2, i7-17004 points

There is an older thread here that has a page and a 1/2 of relatively incorrect information up front to solve the crazy cockpit antics you get when auto-rotation kicks in using the XRNS app (or no response at all!) in the Aero. As this solution has proven effective for all who tried it so far, hopefully it will help more people. 1. Be SURE you have the latest download of version of XRNeckSaferBeta5a from GitHub (https://gitlab.com/NobiWan/xrnecksafer) 2. Be Sure Varjo Foveated is installed, check Control Panel\Programs and Features for "OpenXR-Varjo-Foveated" 3. Run XNRS and check the "OpenXR\Show active OpenXR API Layers" list in XNRS. The "OpenXR API Layers" window should show "XR_APILAYER_MBUCCIA_varjo_foveated" and "XR_APILAYER_NOVENDOR_XRNeckSafer" 4. If XRNeckSafer is not on top of the list (which it usually isn't), that is the problem, it needs to be the FIRST API loaded. If it is 1st and you still have some sort of graphical issue, see the bottom of this post*. 5. To change the order of the APIs there is a great new app, download the API Layers GUI program here -( https://github.com/fredemmott/OpenXR-API-Layers-GUI ) 6. To see all APIs running and change the order run the pertinent GUI exe for your system (I used the "OpenXR-API-Layers-Win64-HKLM" exe). Select the XRNeckSafer API, click the Move up button (to the top even if you have more than 2 API's showing), done! *From @MastahFR on the Varjo\dcs-world Discord - "You should always have the [API] layer doing spatial / positioning correction [XRNS] run first, then display/render transformation (VFR, QVFR), then render correction (color, brightness, like OXRTK) and then render capture (OBS, ...)". So if you run Quadviews foveated and OXRTK, the API order should be: 1. XRNS 2. Quad_views_foveated 3. OXRTK Hope this helps someone going forward!3 points

Work on the CVA-31 continues. Lately we've added landing lights and discovered that the OmniLight is the way to go. Also the ramp/parking hot positions were expanded to 8 from 4 positions. Unfortunately there seems to be some priority problem with multiple groups. Somehow the second group's first plane wants to take-off after the first group's first plane. But its in position 4... wonder what can be done about this. Some screens. First take at lights on the carrier: Current light status: A crowded deck testing the spacing with the largest carrier capable plane I'm aware of for DCS: Cheers, TeTeT3 points

Having synthetic textures as option or a mod is a fantastic idea! Personally for me, I’ve always found synthetic terrain textures to be the most convincing and therefor the most immersive. South Atlantic at the moment blows my mind in some places it so beautiful and then is terribly disappointing (ugly) in others, spoiling the immersion completely. If it could be achieved, a blend of both would work nicely. Something were the satellite imagery slowly blends in with the synthetic textures at a distance and with altitude. There is still so much work to do to make the satellite imagery convincing on its own. Personally, I would replace most of it with really good synthetic textures and be done with it. Thanks for reaching out to the community and considering our opinions on this.3 points

The challenge with a FF F-15C module comes down to two words: business case. show of hands- who here is prepared to drop $80 on a FF Su-25 when you can get one for less than 1/5th of that bill? Crickets, right. Because that’s the value proposition of a full fidelity F-15C to non-enthusiasts. The studio would spend years and capital costs developing a more detailed version of a module you can already buy. Yeah, FF > FC3- but is it $55 better? Probably not in the minds of most DCS players. Add in the F-15E which can do A2G + BVR air combat & the business case totally evaporates.3 points

You'd probably like the Rising Squall campaign for the Hornet, but there really isn't any paid campaign like that for the A-10C. Conceptually, the problem is that the A-10C does not do "excitement" all that well, since getting shot at is generally poor for your health . Your virtual pilot might survive, but you'll have to restart. That being said, many of the early TEW3 missions are pretty slow, but they do pick up the pace later on. With the AI wingman?? That would amount to "lead will engage, 2 will run out of fuel and eject"3 points

we are continually working on improvements and enhancements every spare minute I get. like today I created another destruction model for one of the buildings. I was curious about this as I feel that this could be an option I was thinking of putting the work in and offering this as a mod until ED have some way to deliver 2 texture sets if they ever do this then you would have the option. See how the poll goes thanks for filling it in3 points

Hello! I don't know if this has already been talked before, but how hard would be to implement a system menu where some aircrafts can set their radio presets on ground with ground crew menu? Same as armament set, another window to set the frequencies of those radio presets and ADF ones? For example Ka50, Mi24 and all those aircrafts that have some kind of only way of tunning with presets? I Know that they can be modified on editing. But if the mission editor don't do it, then those radios are useless Thanks!2 points

Holy Jeebus. I think I fixed it. With the QoS hint I started googling on “QoS settings, Gaming, Internet, Lenovo” and found a Tom’s Hardware forum post describing exactly what I was seeing with a Lenovo. This is a very new Lenovo gaming rig. Turns out they have some fancy software running in the background to do various stuff. Bring that up and there is a setting for something they call “Network Boost” and redirects all bandwidth on your machine to a running game to maximize your gaming experience. Gee thanks. I turned that off and now I am not seeing the problem. Going to test more but it looks like that is the issue. I have plenty of bandwidth. I’ll keep that off for now. If I need it I can enable it when gaming and not needing to stream the screen. Looks like I might could add Discord to the list so it will get a share. Dang that was stressful. I thought I was going crazy. Sorry for blaming DCS. I was wrong. I’ll leave up my embarrassment in case someone else has a similar problem they can find this via search. Thanks for helping brainstorm all. Now with DCS and ME running for 35 min, no problemo!2 points

While I'm quite a fan of release early and often, I have to admit that we today encountered two problems that are a bit mind boggling. One is that the plane would fall through the flight deck when taxiing and continue on the hangar level to take off. The other is that units fall overboard the foredeck after quite a while. It's not clear if either of these is really fixable for now. Cheers, TeTeT2 points

Why so salty ? There's nothing wrong with the cat, she's an old girl which more modern designs have taken lessons from and improved upon. It's the most faithful representation of an aircraft we have currently in DCS, and shes a challenge to fly. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that it is automatically bad . based on the data and SME opinion it flies like it should, and when someone finds new data that highlights an inconsistency, HB change and update it. it'll never be perfect but all the constructive critiquing helps to get it ever closer I'll also pick up all the toys and put them back in the pram for you2 points

Lol, exactly! Air brief the wingman on what Bingo actually means. I wonder what the fighter-to-fighter brief would sound like... "Fighter to fighter: Shooter/POW, Guns, 1's in North, off right to west, 2 snap homeplate and eject. 1's ready"2 points

I didn't vote because I don't think it makes much of a difference. A well-done synthetic can look fantastic and a poorly done satellite texture can look awful, and vice versa. Neither will look good on a mesh that doesn't have enough detail.2 points

Most of my DCS time, I fly helo's (well, pretty much 99% the Apache actually ) So, in that respect, I should probably want to choose the second "synthetic" option, but... It's the satellite textures that make this map unique in DCS and (from high altitude) eye wateringly beautiful. So, my vote goes out to option 1: sticking with the satellite textures (even if that means that I'll probably only occasionally use this map for a soothing high altitude free flight session). As I mentioned before though, I just wish we could have both: Keep using current satellite textures and manually optimize occasional (low altitude) texture/terrain anomalies.2 points

I would buy the F-15C, but I would prefer the F-15A. But I prefer flying aircraft that have no fly-by-wire and no MFDs. The F-15E is a reasonable substitute for an F-15C with the CFTs installed, which performs more like a slatted F-4E due to the extra weight/drag. If RAZBAM would change their mind and let the F-15E fly with the CFTs removed, it would be an excellent substitute for the F-15C.2 points

Maybe some example screenshots would help, to give us an indication on the impact of the proposed poll options. (I also DM'd Specter about this) I expect for this poll there will be a big preference difference between fixed wing (mainly high altitude) and helo players.2 points

please note that in a future update changes to the hardcoded gun and gear animations of helicopters will be added. When this happens I will post examples. thank you2 points

With the patient help of DerKlausi on the Varjo Discord I finally have XRNS working perfectly on my Varjo Aero in DCS MT.exe with XRNS and Varjo Foveated Rendering (pretty sure it will work with other APIs also). The final key (after an XRNS 5a remove/reinstall) was the order of the API layers, as the Varjo Foveated API finally showed up in XRNS's "OpenXR\Show API Layers" list after a fresh XRNS5a download and re-install. First try in the cockpit, with Varjo API showing on top line of the XRNS Show API list, I got black blocks and strange movement in the cockpit whenever Auto-rotation kicked in (but it was actually finally doing something!). As soon as I (using the "OpenXR-API-Layers-Win64-HKLM.exe" app) moved the XR_APILAYER_NOVENDOR_XRNeckSafer.json Layer to be above the XR_APILAYER_MBUCCHIA_varjo_foveated. json Layer, all was well in DCS.. So for me the key was to uninstall XRNS 5a, reinstall a freshly downloaded version of XRNeckSaferBeta5a from GitHub (https://gitlab.com/NobiWan/xrnecksafer), run XNRS and check the "OpenXR\Show active OpenXR API Layers" list in XNRS,. If XRNeckSafer is not on top of the list (which mine wasn't), use the API Layers GUI program ( https://github.com/fredemmott/OpenXR-API-Layers-GUI ) to change the order (I used the "OpenXR-API-Layers-Win64-HKLM" exe). Select the XRNeckSafer API, click Move up (to the top even if you have more than 2 API's showing), done! Never occurred to me not showing the Varjo Foveated API in XNRS could actually be an XRNS issue (to cause me to reinstall) as it worked fine in IL-2 (because Foveated rendering is disabled in IL-2)... and forget about the API Layer order, never would have gotten that without help.2 points

1. Wombat got Delta to host a visit for Wags to get sim time at the training center. 2. No F15C FF planned 3. Dynamic Campaign is being worked on 4. No E2, no P8, No Recon aircraft modules planned 5. Some DCS users/fans have sent classified info to ED to try and help further development. ED's stance is to shut down the effort and they don't want anything to do with it. 6. ED will not be attempting to develop 5th gen or any current frontline assets as they can't confirm systems operation 7. Roughly 170-180 people working for ED worldwide. 8. The F4E is gonna be pretty cool, with new module features not seen in DSC prior. 9. The P8 flyover of the football game did not impress anyone. 10. ED is working on a DTC function for FF modules. Gonky believes they should leave this out of a "Fun" sim title. 11. No planned flyable B17 12. No bombers planned 13. ED is still planning to make a full spherical world map. 14. C-130 is still work in progress, developer and ED are working on cargo system. 15. Chinook Logistics will come after aircraft completion, cargo system and dynamic campaign. 16. Development priorities for ED are centered on products and features that satisfy the largest DCS user demographics. 17. No Viper A, B or D planned 18. F-5E update question to WAGS reveals that there are secret plans for an F-5E update in the future and WAGS can't talk about it. 19. VULCAN API is a huge project and it's in the works. 2024 and beyond. 20. ED is currently working on WWII assets and more specifically for the Marianas map. Naval assets mentioned for WWII Naval Aviation. -----I might of missed a few points, but interesting listening. Had to walk away halfway through video.. ----- 21. Lots of talk about Aliens. Mostly doubt that the congressional hearing had any legitimate substance. WAGS feels we will find out soon enough that there is financial gain somewhere. 22. Why no F-18D? WAGS, says resources are elsewhere and now is not the right time to start the "D" when the "C" isn't finished. 23. User request for a kneeboard you can write on and is available in F10 mission planner. WAGS agrees it is a good idea. 24. User asks, why is the bomb frag damage so small? WAGS says they are actively working on a higher fidelity fragmentation bubble. 25. Wombat brought Gonky to an A-320 sim and Gonky kicked too much right rudder and freaked the sim out. More picking on Gonky. 26. User asks if current Maps will be merged into the Spherical map project. WAGS answered no, that the technology is the limiting factor. 27. User asks about small diameter bombs. WAGS answered if the aircraft would carry SDB's, then it's an option for the future if they can get the documentation to back it up. 28. No planned Japanese aircraft modules or assets for WWII period. 29. Talk about "Mass Effect", "Cyberpunk" and "StarField" 30. Another request for an F-35. WAGS, says absolutely not as there is no legitimate info available. 31. User asks about a Vairo Aero fix and WAGS says they don't have the headset and the company can't afford to buy every piece of hardware. 32. Somebody wants a "TurboCat" Module. Nobody knew what it was. 33. Question about the "AI Texture Controversy".. WAGS doesn't know what they are talking about.. 34. There are some "Century Series" fighters in the development pipeline. Had to walk away again.. with about 50 minutes left..2 points
