Presented by. The Tupolev TU 23M3 Backfire A free sketch Fab model This is not the Brian Coopers model, or mod I dedicate her to @marko1985 who created the SU-15 Flagon found here, We have worked together on another Russian bomber which unfortunately did not come to fruition. Currenthill has filled that gap. A a better job to boot! Marko1985 showed me many quirks and other features of the other aircraft, Which I have incorporated here. I leave them for you to discover. He also created very large bombs, all custom I have added these and hope you find them useful, and fun to use. The bombs and code are all his work, so credit goes to him! The 3D model work of the aircraft and any errors are mine. Not the best model, but not the worst. I needed to edit it a bit to get the look you see here. Not perfect by any means but she appears to be fully functional. This version is ai only All is in place for a flyable, which will come a little bit later. Stay tuned! There may be other improvements as well If you select flyable, you get a map screen. Feel free to edit to suit your needs. It came with a single livery The others are my creation I hope you enjoy her! This is a BETA release A saved games location install Any Issues of a game braking nature, Or other requests, Please send a PM to me on these forums. Screens and video welcome to be posted here. Status update I'm in the final testing phase of the Military Asset Pack USA 1.1.0, with the superb help of testers, finding the kind of issues we want fixed before release! I'm very happy with the progress.5 points

On first loading DCS, we’re presented with a hangar. I spotted a mod that changes the default VR view such that it’s just black. The creator suggested that it removed the VRAM requirement to host the hangar. It does “feel” like it helps performance. I’m hoping that this could be added as a tick box option, as it does appear to be a very risk free change to a single file.4 points

First I´d like to thank you devs for your time and dedication to this amazing module that the MF1 is. I´d just like to ask if its possible to get a small roadmap update? Since some items like BE Variant and Cannon pod already released, and topics on the Original Post are almost a year old. We can see from the latests patches that a lot of work is being put into it, It would be amazing to know what is on the Dev team priority list and upcoming work.4 points

I've done some testing boresighting on the fly and whist in active pause. During active pause, the Mavericks boresight perfectly and as they should. Defiantly seems related to the new INS update and the aircraft moving.4 points

You are sooo spot on @Gogi12 ;-) And another cool video from @Spino who really nails the use of the early Six pretty darn good in his vid. That makes the reason the "Six-Shooter" project was initiated pretty clear, even more so when you add the "lessons learned" from Vietnam dogfights:4 points

The alternative is releasing modules without any mass testing that can catch game-breaking bugs. I'm sure that would go down splendidly with the community.3 points

If you're referring to the HB UI issue, then I recommend to read the Delay Announcement again, because nowhere does it say that it broke on first test on most systems. It literally said that it caused a critical issue on a very small number of systems that was detected when mass testing begun: https://store.heatblur.com/blogs/news/of-delays-and-silence3 points

If it were an abstract map of an inexistent place, perhaps. Still, we'd want some recognizable landmarks there to orient ourselves, and unique buildings serve that purpose. I remember way back when I was playing an FPS game called "Unreal Tournament" that had custom maps. One was called "Deck 16". Great map, synthetic. There was another map, called "Louvre". It was based on the real place, and it was fun to battle between re-enactments of the exhibits and through the corridors of a maze built upon the real place. For better or worse, these 'reality based landmarks' make me enjoy a map more. Since Sinai is a real place, having landmarks based on, and located at, their real-world objects adds some je ne sais quoi to the map, makes it more enjoyable to me. Now, when you are in a whirlybird (and I often am), it also makes VFR navigation around those landmarks much, much easier. Yeah, but in that game I can't get jumped by some Insurgents in need of forceful persuasion. And have you looked at the quality of what may be coming soon? Breathtaking. Now, let's all hope that the fine people at @OnReTech heed the Jobsian proverb: "real artists ship". I'm really looking forward to the next update and am happy that ORT found the time to post a sign of life here.3 points

Dear friends and pilots. We apologize for the long update, but rest assured that we are working on improving our module (it was our mistake to make the update so big). We are currently finalizing some scenes after our internal testing, fixing some internal bugs, and preparing the module for an update. As planned, new airfields were added as announced in the road map. More than 90 new unique and historical buildings + some additional objects that we didn’t plan: an oil platform, new yachts, air balloon and etc... Added unique hangars for the F35 at the Nevatim airfield, as well as parking for them. Improved scenes of Cairo, Alexandria, Eilat and Jerusalem. Thank you for your patience and attention. I am attaching screenshots of the new update.3 points

Today, Hero of Russia, Honored Test Pilot Anatoly Nikolaevich Kvochur passed away. This thread is dedicated to his extraordinary life and the role he played in the advancement of Soviet and Russian aviation. Anatoly Kvotchur was born on April 16, 1952 in the village of Mazurovka, Chernevets district, Vinnitsa region, Ukrainian SSR. After graduating from school in 1969 in the village of Beryozovka, Chernevets district, he entered the Yeisk Higher Aviation School of Pilots. After graduating from college in 1973, he began serving as a pilot in the aviation units of the Air Force of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany. In 1975 he entered the Test Pilot School, from which he graduated in 1978. In 1977, Anatoly Kvotchur was dismissed from the ranks of the USSR Armed Forces. Working in the aviation industry From 1978 to 1981, he worked as a test pilot at an aircraft plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, where he tested production Su-17s and its modifications. In 1981 he was transferred to the OKB named after A.I. Mikoyan. At the OKB, he participated in tests of the MiG-29 and MiG-31 aircraft, tests of air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, tests of the MiG-29K carrier-based fighter, including studies of the systems of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov (including . was the first to perform a night takeoff from the deck), as well as in testing the latest prototypes of MiG aircraft. Also in 1981, he graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute. In 1988, at the Farnborough Aviation Show (Great Britain), Kvotchur first showed an aerobatic maneuver - “The Bell”. On June 8, 1989, at the international air show in Le Bourget (France), during a demonstration flight on the newest Soviet fighter MiG-29, an engine surge occurred, causing the aircraft to stall near the ground. Kvotchur managed to eject from an extremely low altitude. A week later he continued flying. In August, he performed demonstration aerobatics on the MiG-29 in Abbotsford (Canada). In 1991, Kvotchur went to work at the Flight Research Institute as a test pilot and then head of the ergonomics laboratory. In 1992, to carry out research programs on the design of cockpits and controls for maneuverable aircraft, satellite radio navigation, in-flight refueling, ultra-long-range non-stop flights, super-maneuverability and medicine, he created the aerobatic team “Test Pilots” (in 1996 it was transformed into the Flight Research Center) . In March 1995, he performed an ultra-long flight on a single-seat Su-27 fighter to Australia, and in July and September 1999, he flew over the North Pole along a closed route; he repeatedly performed ultra-long-range flights in a group of fighters lasting more than 10-11 hours with multiple refuelings in the air day and night, including over the ocean, from arctic to tropical latitudes. Until the age of 65, he conducted flight tests on supersonic aircraft. Kvotchur mastered and tested more than 90 types and modifications of aircraft, and in 2005 he set 11 world records on board the Su-27 . Its total flight time is about 4,800 hours, including over 3,000 hours of test flight time. May he Rest in Peace2 points

Yeah, this just looks bad. I'm not going to argue whether all the EA features have been included/finished, but the optics are extremely poor. It looks like a company just trying quietly and discreetly to decide their product is complete, without publicity announcing it. The only reason this would be done, is because ED likely know there'd be substantial pushback form customers re the Hornet's present state. Again, not saying ED are right or wrong to exit early access, but they definitely keep shooting PR own goals...2 points

It's very hard to do much of anything in DCS if you don't know the basics of aviation and flying in general. It's like trying to learn calculus without knowing arithmetic. I'd recommend reading the resources I've linked https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/phak https://www.boldmethod.com/ https://www.youtube.com/@flightinsight9111 https://www.youtube.com/@TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom And this guide covers some of the basics of DCS and links to some other good resources. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3326416/2 points

Two things can be true at the same time: people could know that using mods would offer them a much better experience, and they still can be unwilling to install them. And you are preaching the choir, dear Elphaba. All of is here know phenomenal mods that are available and how much better our missions could be if we used them. And we all know the hard truth: using any mod in our mission reduces the number of people who play them. It's heartbreaking, but undeniable fact. We, as mission designers want our missions to be played, so we cater to our audience and do not include them. Your frustration is palpable, my friend. Your arguments are well received, mostly agreed, and we all dream of the day we could use mods. Today, unfortunately, is not that day. In my experience, trying to force other people to see the light seldom brings the desired results. So my recommendation for you is to perhaps relent a little in this regard, lest it breaks your enjoyment of DCS. Because that is why we are here.2 points

The F-15 is still a high priority on my wanted list. Whether there are other 4th gen aircraft or not doesn't diminish the desire for a specific airframe. With DCS being full fidelity, specific aircraft and the fine differences between them are the point.2 points

I know there weren't any HB updates this last patch (April 10), but does anyone know of any ED changes to radar or guidance? I've been seeing some consistently wonky behavior with the Phoenix since then. In this example (on a single player mission I've often used for practice), the second missile loses track almost immediately after launch, and makes a bee-line into the stratosphere. A third, follow up shot taken while still about 55 miles away barely lofts at all. It seems like most of the time since the patch, the second missile fired at a 2 ship won't even make it even near the target, let alone any terminal problems.2 points

I initially opened a feature request but due to lack of reaction fro ED, and reaction from other folks on this forum, I think this should be considered a BUG. The problem is that TGP in A-A STT tracking does not follow the limitations of physics, strictly speaking rotational inertia of the camera gimbal. As result the updates for angle from radar STT cause TGP picture to be jittery. It's really difficult to visually ID A-A targets with the TGP because it's repositioning the viewport with instant "jumps". It is less noticeable when TGP track target by contrast but still problem is similar.2 points

While I believe that I've read somewhere that Masada will eventually be coming to this map, there is a geological peculiarity of that region that runs up against DCS's terrain engine. Masada, as you probably know is is an ancient fortification in southern Israel, situated on top of an isolated rock plateau and rife with some heroic history (and no happy endings). The problem here: although Masada is atop of a mountain plateau, that plateau is only 60 meters (180 feet) above sea level. The entire surrounding area (dead sea and land) is 400m below sea level. DCS currently can't correctly model terrain below seal level - it shows those areas as water. So Sinai currently puts the surrounding terrain at close to (but still above) sea level, and the Masada mesa currently is more of a Masada molehill. Hopefully, ED's terrain engine will eventually be updated to account for terrain below sea level, and then we can have a Masada in-game that correctly reflects its forbidding, brooding real-world presence. And allows us to properly explore the dead sea's Jordan Rift Valley.2 points

-
Yup, many. Nothing beats the convenience, ease of use and clarity of 2D. VR is great for driving sims and simpler flying like WWI/WWII/General aviation stuff but its definitely not the end all be all. And people that say this always sound like they are asserting it must be all one or the other. I fly VR sometimes for the experience and fun, but most of the time I'm 2D personally. It is actually possible to go back and forth between the two ya know.2 points

I'm all for a "proper" simulator, but the recent boresighting and INS is over the top for me. I loved the Viper when a boresight was just at the runway end and bang on. Post full repair and hotfix, the TGP is still not switching on. Im tired.2 points

frankly I am disappointed with many of you in this thread. Please keep to the rules, be nice and treat each other with respect. As for the request, I have already said we have no plans for an easy AAR option, we are planning improvement to basket physics, but that is something for the future. The thread has ran its course so I will close. Thank you2 points
-
Exactly this, people that never did AAR are trying to suggest aids to do it, like giving advice about dating and you never had a partner AAR is like life, it will not be easy once you start living on your own, but when you make it, it is really rewarding. Practice guys, you can do it, don't be a quitter.2 points

In-Flight Alignment in pre-GPS era requires additional couple of FIXes in addition to the first two OFLY FIX to calculate the velocity properly. These FIXes can be made in any suitable mode: TPOD, FCR, HUD, OFLY, the only requirement is to keep the aircraft at a straight line between the fixes. Of course, the fixes should be done precisely.2 points

Two squadrons of Su-17M2 Fitter-D bombers were placed near the Iranian borders. 806th Fighter Bomber Air Regiment at Kzyl-Arvat airport from 14th Air Army and 168th Guard Fighter Bomber Air Regiment at Mary-2 airport from 34th Tactical Air Army. Both squadrons had 1st Class pilots. These squadrons were suitable for nuclear offensive missions. These two squadrons were stationed there in order to keep the Iranian forces at bay. The Mary-2 airfield played a significant role in supporting the Soviet troops in Afghanistan and the Afghan army. The main volume of military cargo went there through the Tashkent-Vostochny airport (Tuzel) to the airfields of Mary, Kokaity, Karshi and Ferghana. When necessary, routine maintenance could also be carried out. Mi-8, Mi-24 helicopters, UTI-MiG-15, and Il-28 bombers were mainly sent from factories or other bases.2 points
