14 June 2024 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, We are thrilled to announce the release of Flaming Cliffs 2024 in the next update! This new release will enhance your DCS experience with new Flaming Cliffs level aircraft such as the F-5E, F-86F and MiG-15bis. We are also delighted to announce that DCS: Supercarrier will receive the first part of the long awaited update, notably an interactive Air Boss view that allows you to directly control the Supercarrier in both single-player and multiplayer. Please stay tuned for the next update. Finally, our new ‘launcher’ is coming very soon to DCS. This elegant interface enhancement is designed to streamline access to your DCS modules, settings and more. We are pleased to let you know that the new Multiplayer user interface elements with Dynamics Slots are also coming in the next update. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Flaming Cliffs 2024 Planned Launch Date Flaming Cliffs (FC) 2024 will expand the series with the inclusion of three new aircraft: the FC: F-5E, FC: F-86F, and FC: MiG-15bis. These aircraft are designed to be less complex and easier-to-learn, making them ideal for players who prefer a more straightforward flight simulation experience. The new models come with DCS Professional Flight Models that ensure a high level of realism. The F-5E is equally capable of air combat and unguided-ground strikes. Its arsenal includes infrared-guided ‘Sidewinder’ missiles and two cannons for close-in air combat. It is also equipped with a radar that can detect targets beyond visual range. For ground attack, the F-5E carries a large array of unguided bombs and rockets. The F-86F is a legendary fighter of the Korean War era. It is a very capable dogfighter armed with 50 calibre machine guns and early infrared-guided air-to-air missiles. In skillful hands, it was more than a match against other aircraft of the era and a fierce rival to the MiG-15. The F-86F can also be armed with unguided bombs and rockets for ground attack. The MiG-15bis was a revolutionary fighter when introduced during the Korean War and outmatched anything in the skies until the arrival of the F-86. It was a small and light fighter but very rugged and tough. Loved by all its pilots it is an outstanding dogfighter when flown to its strengths. It’s armed with both two 23mm guns and a single 37mm cannon that can inflict severe damage. Existing Flaming Cliffs 3 owners with F-15C, A-10A, Su-27, J-11, Su-33, Su-25, MiG-29, and MiG-29S, can upgrade to the new version for a early mover $9.99 USD fee, offering an affordable way to enjoy these great additions. This special offer will only be available until the end of July, thereafter the upgrade price will increase to $14.99. You can also purchase the FC: F-5E, FC: F-86F, and FC: MiG-15bis individually for the price of $14.99 USD each. Supercarrier Air Boss Development Progress One of the new features coming soon to DCS: Supercarrier is the Air Boss (Primary Flight) deck. This offers fun new features that will allow you to steer your Supercarrier, monitor the flight deck, adjust ship lights, monitor the airspace around you, view Landing Signal Officer information, and have a command view of “the roof”. Air Boss control can be assigned roles in both single player and multiplayer missions. This will add a new dimension for online carrier operations. Coming soon are the new plane ‘directors’ that will help direct aircraft from their parking spaces to a catapult and from the landing box to a parking space. This functionality is now complete for single player and we continue to work on the much more complex task of implementing for multiplayer. Stay tuned! Launcher New Feature Our new DCS Launcher will provide a more intuitive interface to set your options before starting DCS. The DCS Launcher will allow you to efficiently organise modules, check for updates, and access various settings from a single location. This update is part of our ongoing efforts to improve the accessibility and functionality of DCS. We aim for the DCS Launcher to be the focus for all DCS information relevant to modules including documentation, training videos, data related to liveries, joystick profiles and much more! Features Coming Soon The DCS Launcher will continue to evolve with the addition of several exciting features: Documentation Training Videos Liveries (texture templates) Hardware Profiles We are very excited about Flaming Cliffs 2024 dropping soon and the amazing new features coming to DCS: Supercarrier. Please let us know your thoughts on the new Launcher and see you next week! Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,18 points

Video 12/09/2024 = Talking a little about the project. Hello community, I present to you the first test of the UH-1H Huey cockpit. In this particular case, it is for you to observe and help me correct proportions and general shapes. Much of the work is based on photographs, and while I try to be as precise as possible, perhaps someone with real experience with the aircraft might notice things that need correction. Don't expect anything usable, just a white structure of the larger components of the cockpit. In the file, you will find a .jpg image with the steps to follow for installation (it may break the integrity check, meaning multiplayer mode might not work). Please remember to back up your files, and I am not responsible if you need to clean up the installation after use. You can leave comments here on the forum (but please quote me so that I get notifications). Thank you very much for your time. Best regards! ###################################################################################################### Hello community! Today, I want to introduce you to a project I started a few days ago. I'd love to hear your opinions and perspectives on it. About the Project: The main idea of the project is to update our beloved but somewhat outdated UH-1H Huey. As a 3D artist, my primary focus will be on updating the module's graphical aspects with new 3D models and textures (we’ll discuss the scope of these changes and their implications later). However, I don't rule out the possibility that, with the community's help, the changes could be more comprehensive. Considering that the Huey's flight model is excellent, and its systems are quite complete, any improvements beyond aesthetics would likely involve adding new weapons or features. Images (WIP): Progress So Far: Currently, I have partially modeled the Huey's cockpit. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but so far, I think it's looking pretty good. I've attached images of the work in progress. I managed to run some tests in the simulator with the new cockpit added to the old model, and it looks quite promising. I still need to figure out how to make the file changes through the "saved games" folder to avoid breaking the Integrity Check (IC), which I currently have no idea how to do. If anyone is willing to help in this area, your contribution would be more than welcome. -- We need to replace the file located at: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\Uh-1H\Cockpit\Shape" named "Cockpit_UH-1H.edm" with a new file of the same name placed in the "saved games" folder. Project Scope: Regarding the project's scope, I envision several possible options. Over the past few days, I've conducted a series of surveys to gauge the community's reaction to the project. For now, the goal is the following: A completely free mod for the community that updates the cockpit with new 3D models, textures, and animations. There would be no new functionalities. We would need to find a way to include it as a mod that doesn’t break the Integrity Check. If that’s not possible, based on the survey responses, there would be little community interest in the mod (and therefore, not much reason to continue its development). For those who have installed the mod, the helicopter will function as usual, but with a significantly enhanced level of detail in the cockpit. For the moment, both the exterior model and the interior cargo area of the helicopter would remain as they are currently. Improves on those parts would cost lots of time for a free proyect. The Reason for the Project: Essentially, I usually do things out of pure enjoyment or whim. The Huey is one of my favorite modules; it’s easy to use, fun to fly, not too complex, yet you can spend quite a bit of time mastering it. Despite this, its graphics, especially the interior, are quite outdated. Therefore, a few months ago, I started thinking about updating its textures to the PBR format. This led to multiple challenges due to the way its UVs were created, preventing the proper use of an AO pass. So, I decided to start modeling the interior in 3D from scratch. Estimated Timeframe: There’s no ETA; this is a project I’ll be working on in my spare time. Other Possible Versions: For now, I would focus on the version we currently have. I’d love to be able to choose whether to add or remove the radar altimeter and the flare dispenser at will, to make it closer to versions used in earlier periods of the Huey’s history. I’d also love to add the option for side-mounted M60s without the external hardpoints, as used by Hueys in Vietnam. If I were to develop other versions, I would be interested in a "C" version with various weapon systems used during Vietnam. I’m not a big fan of glass cockpits, so I’m not interested in modeling more modern versions of the Huey. However, these ideas are more like "dreams" rather than concrete goals, and they would largely depend on community support (since beyond 3D art, aspects that require programming are not my strong suit). Conclusion: For now, this is all. I hope the project interests you, and that together we can build this improvement. I look forward to your feedback! Best regards!12 points

No it didn’t. Nothing wrong with people being honest and sharing their thoughts. I would even go so far that if we don’t do these threads we do not stimulate the creators to do better. Personally i will buy it when the sound and textures get improved. It’s to everyone own choice if the product meets the standard and the price your personally willing to spend on.7 points

No body from Heatblur, except Cobra worked on the MiG-21bis. The original Swede team that was making a Viggen mod, joined "LNS", and worked only on that with slight help from LNS programmers. The F-14 had been originally worked on by LNS only, with possible help from unknown sources. After the split, the agreement was that LNS maintained the MiG-21bis and continue with the F4U-1D along with all acquired PAO assets. And Heatblur would get the F-14 and Viggen. During our time together, the CE2, F4U, F14 and Viggen were al being developed at the same time. Out of respect and privacy, I will not delve into the reasons of the split, however, it had nothing to do with the module development, or the "likes / love / interests" of the aircraft.7 points

Was wondering if there were any plans to add the RA-5C Vigilante and RA-3B Sky Warrior. I would love to see them implemented. Would fit right in with the mod but also other mods out there, such as the Vietnam Assets mod and A-4 Skyhawk Mod. Would love to see them both, especially the RA-3B so I can use it as an AI Tanker/Electronic Aircraft and bomber. I like making missions surrounding the A-4 and 'Vietnam' and the Sky warrior would work well with that. The Vigilante would work well in that environment as well, but especially well with the F-14A. I love mods that allow me to make packed and complete 60/70/80 cold war era flight decks. The Vigilante would fulfil the Reconnaissance and Bomber role. Hope to see them in the future!!!5 points

Hi Patricio, Unfortunately, I believe that the only way to place it at Saved Games would be to create a "clone" of the UH-1 at /Saved Games/ that would include the /bin/ of the regular UH-1 but with your shapes and textures, the way that Patrick & Erick Cuesta did with the P-51. I have no idea of the details involved, but if you contact @Patrick56 he may be able to guide you on this subject. If you reduced the scope of the project, and only update the textures and not the 3D shapes, then this could be packaged in the form of a Custom Cockpit, which would not break the IC. Maybe little interest from the MP public, but I'm sure there are plenty of DCS users that are Single Player-only, and they wouldn't be bothered by the IC-issue Cheers, Eduardo5 points

Hi, we are currently testing a huge update internally. It wont be in the 26th of June patch but hopefully the one after. I know it has been a long time but I think it will be worth the wait. thank you4 points

Hey Andrew that is correct. I assume the destroyers back then weren't able to track submarines but the Frigates could. When I was stationed onboard the USS Bowen FF-1079. I don't remember us escorting any destroyers. Most of the destroyers were always part of a Carrier Strike Group. But this was from 1986 - forward when I entered the US Navy.4 points

Thanks for the mention! We're trying to bring in a MiG-21MF as AI only asset. Currently biggest missing piece is a pilot figure, otherwise development is progressing. We've also got an A-3B Skywarrior model, but rigging has not even started on it. Good luck with your project! TeTeT4 points

SimHaptic from rkApps now supports DCS! And I am very impressed. I have a Buttkicker Gamer Pro bass shaker, which comes with an amplifier which also works as an external soundcard when connected to the PC with USB. And until now I have only been using Buttkickers own official Hapticonnect app - which supports DCS. But I think it is not very good. Few effects, and some of them are not even working. And you really can't adjust anything besides volume. So I have been looking for a different solution. I know some of you are using the Simshaker software and been happy with that. I downloaded that program, but I never got it to work like it should. Turned out I had to buy an extra plugin from another company which there were no available valid payment options for when I checked it out. This might be solved now, I don't know. Anyway, I decided to just stay with the official Hapticonnect for Buttkicker instead. It worked, but very limited. Anyway, Simhaptic has a trial version on their web page, I think it is fully functional except that it stops working after 7 days. And I am happy to say it worked "right out of the box"... Very easy. Downloaded it, installed it, started it, in the SimHaptic app chose my Buttkicker as the sound card to use, fired up DCS, hopped into my F-16 cockpit - and voila! I had to lower the volume for many of the effects, and I guess this will depend upon which kind of bass shaker or buttkicker you are using. But - there are so many different effects for each thing happening with the airplane! Compared to the official Buttkicker software it is pretty incredible! Wow! I can not compare it to the Simshaker solution since I never got it to work and never bought the addon plugin for it either. But is a very easy solution and installation for Buttkicker Gamer Pro/Buttkicker Game Plus users. For people with other bass shakers, SimHaptic needs a soundcard for itself, an external USB one would work fine I think. You can not use an Y splitter from the soundcard you are using for other things.3 points

OP should not send his complaints to General Dynamics or Lockheed Martin, because what OP describes is indeed how it works in the real jet. HSD EXP modes should be focused on a patch of ground and should be immovable, as per RL documentation. It's just ED's implementation that is incorrect, and I suggest whomever set this thread to "correct-as-is" actually references RL documentation and reports this as a bug instead. And while we're at it, the same thing shpiöd be true for the HAD page to, where EXP mode shouldn't be moving around relative to your aircraft like it currently does in DCS, but be zoomed in on a patch of ground and be immovable.3 points

I love that everybody's instinct is to jump straight to intentional sabotage as the one and only possibility, rather than there being a multitude of possibilities. Anyway, this is speculation and what I've read elsewhere, but speculation is that an SSL cert expired. The cert is used for encryption or binarizing files. I am repeatedly mentioning the phrase "speculation" because this is indeed speculation, though I'd say it's more plausible than half the nonsense some of you are coming out with.3 points

I hope there is a very quick ‘fix’ for this Changing the ‘system date’ just to get something working in a single module seems like a very bad idea To be functional DCS needs to work without the need for such ‘hacks’???3 points

Tactically (game play) - there's not much for it. The Apache can carry 16 hellfires, plus 1200 rounds of 30mm, so for points, k/d ratio's, etc - the Apache makes far more sense. But - if you fly for enjoyment, like working with others as a team in a tactical manner, have dedicated missions for this, etc - that's where this bird shines. I suppose for me it's a bit like the F15/16 vs FA18. The F15 and 16 is faster, and can probably BFR better than the hornet. But I don't care. Hornet is a beauty to fly. I love the naval ops, love that it can do a variety of different tasks, and use it for it's advantage. To me, the OH-58 is the same. I play it for the delight of the airframe and FM, not for how many kills I can get in an evening. This being said, I think there is room for us server makers to give the OH-58 a little more room for use. At the far end, would be to allow it to do some CTLD work as well. Whether that's rescue a downed pilot, or carry cargo, etc. That's not realistic - but it would help to give this bird a place on servers such as you've mentioned. Or, there could be other less 'out there' scripting ideas that could be implemented with this bird. One thought I have is the ability for this to rearm from road-side rearming points a little closer to the front line than helicopters like Apache's can to balance it out a bit. There are ways to do this now, but for me I'm holding off because I'm really hoping that with the CH-47 - there will be some additional scripting/farp/warehousing options that we may be able to utilise saving us having to find a hack way to script this in. The problem we face is that DCS is a simulator, and as such there is no automatic balance between the modules. It's up to the server hosters/ multiplayer mission designers to make provision for levelling the field on how they choose (or if they choose). For me, for now - I just love flying with Apache's and being the scout. It gives me variety. I still fly the Apache too for that more tactical advantage when I do want to clear up a lot of units - but there's those nights where I want to do something different, and this is perfect for it.3 points

The band switch has nothing to do with shrike bands. It was a switch added and then repurposed for shrikes later. with the -9/-10 shrikes (Mk49 and Mk50 seekers) it will select whether the shrike is in LOFT ATTACK or DIRECT ATTACK mode, and whether or not it has angle gating while on the rail. None of this is implemented currently. It is also not clear if this functionality was on the F-4E or if it was only implemented on F-4G's. The F-4E -34's do not spell out this functionality, but the switch and presumably the functionality was there. the F-4G -34's do spell out how this functionality works, and the F-4G has some additional lights under the AOA indexers to let you know if you have LOFT/DIRECT attack selected, or angle gating. Those lights are not present in the F-4E. In either case at the moment in Heatblurs F-4E that switch is completely non functional.3 points

More WIP cockpit images. The gunsight has miss aligned UVs in one of the images so uploaded another showing the gunsight with correct texture setup. Next step will be to add more detail and text to the controls and add a few more of the side panel gauges. As well as setting up the interactive cockpit. I'm also working on adding the preliminary EFM for more realism.3 points

**** BROKEN MODS DUE TO RECENT ED UPDATE **** Good Evening everyone. ED's Latest update has broken a few CH and my mods. CH is working hard to solve this issue. I just noticed it yesterday. I did more testing today only to find that at least four of my mod-declared missile scripts are broken. The LCS Class USS Independence missiles are broken as well but it hasn't been released yet. When the missile launches they fly all over the place and into the water. It appears to be certain declared missiles though. There's always something. Always. The mods that are broken are Admiral Ushakov, the USS Constellation, FREMM Class Frigate which hasn't been released yet, and the USS Oak Hill. So far these are the only mods that I've tested. ---- With all that said I will not release any new mods until this issue has been resolved. I will however release the Comandanti Class Frigate as it doesn't have any missile launchers. Just another day in the office. I'm off to work trying to resolve the known issues. Just wanted to keep you all updated. Thanks.3 points
