Dear all, With the next DCS: AH-64D update, we will be releasing the RMAP mode for the Fire Control Radar (FCR). Due to illness and time limitations, I was unable to create an instruction video for it. My apologies, as it's a very interesting features that a lot of time has gone into. In the meantime, please find attached a section of the DCS: AH-64D Guide pertaining to this new feature. Kind regards, Wags DCS AH-64D FCR RMAP Mode.pdf23 points

OneReTech, I and many others, believe that the decision to remove a large area of detail from the map, was done in poor taste and without any prior warning to us. The rationale and logic behind this decision was never communicated broadly or at all. This decision, downgrade, made me lose a lot of faith in you as a new developer. A year without updates and with silence, ok, fine. But to then come out with your first update and degrade the map? I cannot in good conscience approve of this behavior. If the concern in the back of your mind was to not interfere with another map maker doing an overlapping area, then this should’ve been considered before EA release. Not thought of and removed afterwards. Please communicate to us, and tell us why this was done, because many are upset and this is not right. thank you, the GUCC.20 points

Route Tool Guide The new Route Tool will allow you to create your own flight routes when you are in multiplayer session. It allows you to edit and to create preset waypoints/steerpoints routes before spawning into the aircraft. F10 map view Select Role screen view Route Tool window Route tool window has familiar elements that you may have seen in the mission editor. Choose the waypoint you want to work with in "WAYPOINT" first field by using arrows or drop-down menu. You can set the waypoint name in the respective "NAME" field. Altitude and altitude type MSL/AGL also adjustable. Below that you can find ETA and input the desired time for that respective waypoint. ADD, EDIT and DEL buttons switching mode of interaction with waypoints. When ADD is active you can click on the map to add the next waypoint. EDIT allows you to choose a waypoint for edit by clicking on it on the map. DEL will delete the currently chosen waypoint. You can save the currently created in route tool flight plan by pressing "SAVE" under the "PRESET" and name the preset. It will save this route preset for later use. You can find your saved presets in Saved Games\DCS\Config\RouteToolPresets in the .lua files named after terrains where you have saved these routes. You can share these files or just copy a specific route part from the terrain file and send it to your wingmen to paste on their side. When you are done with the flight plan and filled in all waypoints you can choose to inject this flight plan in any aircraft you will spawn next in by ticking the box "USE THIS ROUTE ON NEXT SPAWN". After that you can close the tool window and choose any aircraft and proceed to spawn in its cockpit. The route you've created will be loaded in that aircraft. It will work with Flaming Cliffs 2024 aircraft too. Be aware that if you choose to use your created route from the root tool it will override the flight plan that was assigned to that particular aircraft in the mission from mission editor. You can't use this tool to edit waypoints of the aircraft you already spawned in and already inside the cockpit. This tool sets waypoints only at spawn. You can also use this tool from non-aircraft slots like observer or tactical commander to create presets for instance. For any compatibility questions: treat this tool as if you would create this flight plan in the mission editor. The parameters you set in it will be treated by aircraft the same as you would set them in the mission editor.18 points

Why was this done? Airfields such as Ramat David are important even for missions involving the Sinai peninsula. For example aircraft based there took part in the opening raids for the 6 day war. Please put the detail back in.16 points

Cargo System Update We are working on additional features for the logistics and cargo in DCS World. With the DCS: CH-47F Early Access we are making available parts of new system: - Dynamic cargo - Internal cargo loading Details about them are below. We are eager to see feedback from the community and adjust them further. Currently these features are available in CH-47F, but we are planning to add them in other DCS World transport capable modules. We are also working on dynamic FARP, “Fat Cow” and improved groups transport concepts. Setting up mission environment for dynamic cargo A warehouse serving resources as dynamic cargo is a WIP feature. In order to avoid it affecting the already established environment of the multiplayer servers we are making it adjustable and optional for each warehouse and OFF by default for now. It will allow a more graceful introduction of it in multiplayer. Before you can use dynamic cargo near warehouse you need to setup this warehouse in mission editor to allow take resources dynamically and pack them in cargos. This is simple process. In Mission Editor click on the airfield or FARP or Carrier for which you want to activate dynamic cargo resources availability and then click on “Full Info” at the right-side bar: Then you will see warehouse parameters window: After that save and play mission and warehouses where this parameter was activated will allow to spawn cargo dynamically with resources taken directly from warehouse. Let’s look at the process of spawning dynamic cargo on DCS: CH-47F example. Transporting Cargo Internally When loading or unloading cargo with the DCS: CH-47F, ensure the tail ramp has been fully deployed to include the ramp extensions. If the tail ramp is already deployed to the ground, an additional command [LShift-G] to lower the ramp will deploy the ramp extensions. · Stage 1. Ramp raised; cargo door (ramp “tongue”) deployed from tail ramp to enclose the aft cabin. · Stage 2. Ramp raised; cargo door retracted. · Stage 3. Ramp partially lowered, parallel to fuselage. · Stage 4. Ramp fully lowered to the ground. · Stage 5. Ramp fully lowered to the ground; ramp extensions deployed. Options for loading and unloading cargo are accessed via the Rearming and Refueling Window [LAlt + ‘]. The Cargo LOAD button is displayed on the left side and the Cargo UNLOAD button is displayed on the right side. Left-clicking these buttons will display the corresponding LOAD CARGO or UNLOAD CARGO panels respectively. Each panel provides an interface for interacting with the internal cargo loading capability of the CH-47F. The Cargo Resources button on the LOAD CARGO panel accesses the local warehouse functions. Spawning Dynamic Cargo If the warehouse near your aircraft has Dynamic Cargo activated, then you can pack and spawn resources from that warehouse into new cargo assets that will appear near your aircraft. Press “+” button to start filling parameters for the new cargo. A cargo resources window will open where you will be able to choose which resources you want to take from that warehouse and pack them into cargo. You can choose cargo 3D model appearance and name. By default, cargo names already include user callsign and timestamp for time of creation. Currently there are limits on qty. for each resource that can be packed into single cargo, WIP we will adjust it in future and looking forward for the feedback. Loading Cargo When the LOAD CARGO panel is displayed, all cargo within 150 feet of the helicopter will be listed, based on the cargo object’s NAME entered in the Mission Editor. Any cargo object may be loaded within the CH-47F by left-clicking on the corresponding entry in the list, and then left-clicking the LOAD button at the bottom of the panel. Cargo is loaded sequentially from the front of the cabin toward the rear of the cabin. If there is a need to unload specific cargo objects prior to others, such as delivering cargo to multiple destinations during a single flight, ensure the cargo is loaded in the reverse order from which it will need to be unloaded. In the image above, four cargo objects are named Pallet 1 through 4, with Pallet 1 representing the cargo to be delivered at the first destination, and Pallet 4 representing the cargo to be delivered at the final destination. Pallet 4 is loaded first in the front of the cabin to be offloaded as the final cargo delivery, with each Pallet loaded in reverse sequence, so that Pallet 1 is loaded near the tail ramp to be offloaded as the first cargo delivery. Unloading Cargo When the UNLOAD CARGO panel is displayed, all cargo within the helicopter will be listed, based on the cargo object’s NAME entered in the Mission Editor. All cargo will be shown in the list from front to back, with the final entry in the list highlighted, representing the first and only cargo object that can be unloaded. To unload the highlighted cargo object, left-click the UNLOAD button at the bottom of the panel. When unloaded, cargo objects will be placed on the ground approximately 70 feet directly behind the helicopter. If cargoes are unloaded near warehouse and cargoes contain any warehouse resources they will be automatically added to that warehouse.15 points

@OnReTech hello, why haven't you guys even thought of telling us about you guys removing the north of Israel and south Lebanon? i am 100% that if ugra media even cared about you using their side of Israel (which shouldn't even matter, its a game and you aren't using any of their assets with no permission), they would've told you to remove north Israel IMMIDIETLY and not a year + 2 months after launch!!! this update ruined ANY ability to do anything in the north side of Israel, thousands of possible missions cant be done anymore just because of an issue which makes no sense at all, PLEASE fix this, or people which try to accurately portray real squadrons will have to buy Syria for north, and Sinai for south, and i think a normal human being CAN understand the fix for this is simple, just bring what was before, don't do this.15 points

@OnReTech Yep, absolute joke... I bought this map for a complete Israel, and have designed missions al over the northern part on the border of Syria and Lebanon. My entire mission/campaign is ruined now... This is a terrible decision and must be reversed!!! Here is the map of my mission area of ops. Took me over 3 months to build this mission for multiplayer for my squad using DML. Now its ruined. Units moved along roads dynamically trying to retake cities, artillery fired at towns, helicopters dropped troops in towns. None of this works now as DML looked at the terrain for its triggers.14 points

It’s simply unacceptable to remove content from the map like this after we’ve all paid for it and it was previously included, absolute bs hopefully this can be put right.13 points

This is a terrible decision. Hopefully the map area can be restored. It seems bizarre that anyone would think it was a good idea to remove area and detail from a map that people have already purchased and have been making missions on.13 points

I'm very keen to assist with EA - but the pure lack of communication on this one is really remarkable, as for just deleating content that was there that alot of people have already built missions around is plain wrong. I can honestly say i would never buy another OnReTech EA product, not due to quality but purely down to the unnacceptable lack of communication when it can be months on end before something is even replied to, or not at all. In addition to this, why are we still missing 80%+ of the real world navigation aids - with gen 3 aircraft being so popular, it is appalling that despite repeated requests it is neither acknowledged or done - a year on and even at new Airfields that have been added - very, very poor.11 points

Israel is such a small country, that dividing it like that is one of the dumbest things you can do. Sure - they will overlap, but who cares?10 points

My point is that you can be critical without being insulting. No one wants to come and read through someone just dumping all over the work they dumped hundreds of hours into. No one, least of all Heatblur, are saying Jester is perfect or that their way of implementing it is perfect. People like to conflate "being rude on the internet" with stuff like "unvarnished appraisals" and it's goofy. You can be critical without having to belittle people. And considering they worked with F-4 crewmembers, I'd wager a guess that they have some idea of how crew communications may have gone.9 points

Especially considering the rather famous history of air wars over both northern and southern Israel. Now instead of having a map with both we have two maps with neither! Great...6 points

Taking away parts of the product after selling it is VERY poor form. The map should not have had a large chunk removed. This happening a year+ after release is even worse. Unsat6 points

It's a shame....please restore the North of Israel...we paid for it5 points

This pretty poor form, I believe ED should step in on this as even though its a 3rd party dev ED own the game, and this will severely impact future sales and any future maps by the developer as most will stay away from them.5 points

Yes I’m super excited for that feature to be shown in 2031 and Beyond for roll out in 2033 but for now it’s doing nothing for us.5 points

There was supposed to be an update, there is a downgrade, where did half of Israel go? It was supposed to be Ramat David, but they cut off the map, and such an important part of it, we could have attacked something in Lebanon or Syria, and now only Egypt was left. What the hell?5 points

To the guys of OnReTech. Do yourself a favour and claim that there was some mistake being made and immediately resolve this issue and you might have the chance to keep some small piece of trust with your customers. After that you better deliver some serious content in order to make up for this.5 points

We are currently finalizing the WSO startup training mission. After that we will move on to systems, weapons etc. We have started the work on the Yom Kippur campaign, called "Days of Atonement"5 points

So first of, thank you for the tracks! What I am seeing on my screen looks all normal and correct to me. I will go through all the tracks and explain whats going on. If something different happened to you when you played it, we have to investigate why (perhaps you have the radar performance special options enabled?). In case my description lines up with your experience, I suspect the issue might just be misunderstanding of how to control Jester, i.e. when to use which Context Command. For that, I would suggest having a quick read of: https://f4.manuals.heatblur.se/jester/combat/overview.html https://f4.manuals.heatblur.se/jester/combat/radar.html And practice until it clicks Here we go. Track 1: * Jester detects both bad guys at 21nm by himself, which is very reasonable for this radar and a small fighter aircraft coming at nose-aspect * at 10nm and 4nm you command Jester to switch the targets (SHORT press), you are not commanding him to lock (LONG press) Track 2: * This time you approach them with a slight angle, RCS increases and Jester can spot them at 25nm already and would be ready for a lock * Jester is ready for a lock the entire time but you never give him the command. Track 3: * Again, approach from the side yields higher RCS, spotting and ready for lock at 25nm * You are flying pretty much at the sideways limit of the radar though, so he loses sight at 20nm * Then you are turning into them and they appear back on the screen at 17nm * at 4nm (very late) you are giving the command to lock * at 3nm Jester obtained a solid lock * with the bandit at 1nm you are entering a hard turn with the target on the gimbal limit while it is deploying chaff. that broke the radar lock and Jester returns to scan mode * you command him now to LOCK the target he just lost out of sight, so he is waiting a few seconds for it to re-appear on screen, which it never does * instead, you probably intended to command him to lock the other guy, i.e. first tell Jester to switch targets (SHORT), then lock (LONG). Watch where his cursor is to tell who you are commanding to lock, it is still on where he lost the previous guy, not the other guy * Also, at ranges below 5nm you should consider switching to CAGE/BORESIGHT mode instead to enable Jester to "lock the target on your nose" instead, much easier to use in a Dogfight. Track 4: * Similar attack profile, targets spotted at 23nm * Command to lock at 4nm, at the same time you are executing a hard maneuver, so Jester fails to lead the target correctly with the cursor (as the proper position would be outside of screen bounds), you moved the target out of screen, Jester lost it and gave up on the lock attempt Track 5: * targets spotted and ready to lock at 23nm * no lock command or anything given, you guys merge and overshoot while Jester was ready to lock the entire time5 points

That's a question I've looked into. It's a similar question that I look into a while ago w.r.t other headsets with only SteamVR drivers. Possible: Yes Difficult: Yes Hopeful: No Sony isn't releasing any proper developer SDK. The only driver that exists is the one in SteamVR. To make this driver work _without_ SteamVR, one would need to write a SteamVR Driver adapter, which would need to implement parts of the SteamVR Driver API to talk to the driver and pretend to be SteamVR. The adapter could then expose itself as an Oculus Quest for example, and plug into VDXR that way. Looking into the guts of the driver, you can see that the following SteamVR Driver API interfaces are used: IVRSettings_003, ITrackedDeviceServerDriver_005, IVRDisplayComponent_003, IVRDriverDirectModeComponent_008, IVRCameraComponent_003, IServerTrackedDeviceProvider_004, IVRWatchdogProvider_001, IVRCompositorPluginProvider_001, IVRDriverLog_001, IVRServerDriverHost_006,IVRCompositorDriverHost_001, IVRWatchdogHost_002, IVRVirtualDisplay_002, IVRResources_001, IVRDriverManager_001, IVRProperties_001, IVRDriverInput_003 Not all of these need to be fully implemented, but at least partially mocked (think like what OpenComposite does for the OpenVR API) to fool Sony's driver sufficiently. On top of that, there's a few compositor features that would need to replicate the behavior or SteamVR's compositor and which don't exist today outside of it or inside Sony's driver (eg: quad layer (not views!) rendering). There's probably over 100-200 hours of work (for a dev knowing that they are doing) to make this happen reliably. All of that for a headset that doesn't even support eye tracking which personally doesn't motivate me to go and do all this work.5 points

I will say, your delivery could use some work. You don't have to denigrate the work to point out issues you have with it. Calling something "pointless development" because you don't like the word order is honestly a bit of a harsh critique that could be phrased much better, especially in a thread where the actual developers are working to explain things and why they are the way they are. Jester isn't perfect, but I think they've done a great job of making him act and sound more human. You may get frustrated at the phrasing, but the ARMA style of "Target, Fishbed, 7 O'clock" is likely less realistic than you're intending it to be, and even just watching streams from real pilots playing DCS shows you that they aren't always exact in their callouts, because things get tense and stuff happens. He isn't meant to be some all seeing personification of the RWR and radar from a modern jet, he's meant to be a realistic representation of the complexity of a multi-crewed plane flying in an engine that was designed before multi-crew was even really a thought in DCS. It's a tough tightrope to walk, and at the very least you could try to be a little less condescending towards the developers who are actively trying to explain how things work at the moment and take suggestions on how they can improve.5 points

On the bright side, we got F-35 circles! Which I don't want, as I want this map for historical (or alternate history) engagements. Having Israel and the sea of galilee area made it possible to do missions to the North and South of Israel from one airbase.4 points

I love flying in the north. I bought the map, becaus i wanted to fly over complete Israel. I absolutely cannot understand the decision. It's as if someone were deleting the last pages of a book or cutting off the back of my car.4 points

@OnReTech why airbase like Ramat David has been removed from the map? Also south part of the Libanon (airports and cities) has been removed as well. It's quite a shame to downgrade it. Why is that so?4 points

Just to make sure - you ED pals know that 9th August is actually today? I have unclassified and ITAR free documents to prove it.4 points
