Is this map planned for a 2024 release? Seems pretty complete on the pics. But we don't know the included airfields.4 points

The Module is already of the S5 standard. GPS and link 16 were never integrated in the 2000C, only the -5F and the 2000D have it. To our knowledge, the SERVAL RWR did not significantly change during the life of the aircraft, we know the symbology on it was reworked a few times but the current implementation is correct for all we know. The SPIRALE chaff dispensers are already present and implemented, the ECLAIR pod is an addition to the CM system. You can find most of the information I shared above in the module Manual.4 points

Don't worry about explaining yourself SkateZilla. You look after your family (and yourself!). You made your situation clear previously, and anyone who can't understand that and respect what you're going through ain't going to understand regardless of how much you try and clarify. People who are not happy with the awesome work you've done and free volunteering of your time and skills can learn the parameters and create an icon with the parameters they need for the time being (or always go and learn how to code and make a launcher of their own and then appreciate truly the work you've done ) They say that one negative comment takes ten positive ones to outweigh it. Well, just know there's a ton of us who are incredibly appreciative of the work you've done - and are happy for you to take all the time in the world you need - we just may not be the 'noisy' ones posting on your thread. j Take care, and seriously - look after yourself. DCS will still be here in 2 weeks™ ... when life improves for you and you are free, in the time of your choosing.4 points

Anyone waiting on M06, it is still waiting on ED approval. Not sure the ave turnaround for these types of things. In the past, 2 days was the longest. We're now onto day 4. I'll update as soon as I see it approved.3 points

Well, I was kinda hoping before the sale ends. I don't need any new modules. but I was thinking of getting another module just coz there's a sale on, coz you know "Hey honey - I saved $$$'s" . I've hesitated this time round I've been waiting for the patch/fixes that have broken things since the last update to be released first because honestly, I have been flying much less lately due to issues and just don't want to sink more doh into something if there's gong to be ongoing issues for a while longer and keeping me flying less.3 points

I’m in the camp who likes Jester as is and looks forward to some of the performance enhancements down the road. The modules only been around four months. If he’s not doing something right, it is probably a sign us nose gunners need to do some homework to fix matters. Further, Jester’s another incentive for me to fly “civilized”, because its his virtual backside on the line too if I screw up.3 points

What would be very useful is an asset-related element. At least one - Rapid Aerostat Initial Deployment. During the Afghan War, almost every large FOB was equipped with a balloon with sensors to monitor the surroundings - RAID. The balloons hung all day long, non-stop. It would be nice if such a model (we actually have a model of a Normandy barrage balloon) was added to the set of objects for DCS. A 3D model, without any sensors even. It was so popular that you can basically see it in every historical satellite photo at larger FOB. It was a permanent fixture in the landscape during the Afghan war. Pls think about it too.2 points

If you fly at a dark night with lights on, you will get shot at by manpads. If lights are off and you don't use your afterburner, manpads will not shoot at you at night.2 points

Does having external lighting on, or off, have any effect on the AI's capability to detect you? I've wondered for a long time if anyone has tested this or can confirm if aircraft lighting is modeled or do the settings make a difference in detection.2 points

I managed to change a few parameters in the lua file and was able to climb to 70,000ft but it is flying on the edge and any sort of banking has the potential to make the flight unstable and depart into a stall all the way to the ground. More work needed on the lua so I will keep going but it will be difficult to get beyond 70,000. My best is 70,000 at 96kts indicated as in the picture. This was from take off on the Persian Gulf map with a nice flight over Iran until the AI banked, airspeed was lost below 90kts indicated and pitch and AOA increased to above 10% and then it was all over.2 points

Localized weather is still available in DCS when using the old deprecated dynamic weather system that is still selectable in the mission editor. It allows you to create different pressure zones resulting in localized weather. I always thought it was the plan to restore this functionality (or a similar one) for the new weather engine eventually? (It's a feature that ranks very high on my own personal wishlist )2 points

I am no expert but if your ST runs DCS smoothly then so should your MT. I had also an issue on a 10yr old rig with MT and after digging through forums for months, I found out that my issue can be solved by resetting the core affinity. My point is, don't take the "car dealership" approach first and start throwing money at the hardware if you really don't need to. I say again, this is provided that your ST runs fine. I've had ppl tell me all sorts of things, which turned out to be complete nonsense.2 points

We have been doing some heavy testing on this and have decided for this upcoming patch to roll back the changes so that we have more time to prepare a system that will adjust the don't based on what headset you are using (or if you are on 2D). We are also looking to see if some options to adjust yourself would make sense as well. We are sorry for the delays on this but trying to test across a broad sample of setups does take time.2 points

To be honest I have never worked out exactly what the other settings do in the file. I did look at replacing the friction lever potentiometer a while ago and ran into the same issue as you, where the original pot has a much smaller output range than most alternatives. You could try to change the variables: MultInit_TP = 0x39; // 54 0011 1001 +57 DEC MultInit_TN = 0xDE; // 55 1101 1110 (twos compliment, I think) -37 DEC I’m sure they are related, but not sure what they do. Mabey try changing first to: MultInit_TP = 0x0A; // 54 00001010 +10 DEC MultInit_TN = 0xF6; // 55 11110110 -10 DEC And then to: MultInit_TP = 0x64; // 54 01100100 +100 DEC MultInit_TN = 0x9C; // 55 10011100 -100 DEC And see if those change anything obvious? Other than that, the easiest way is probably to reduce the output of the hall sensor. Either mechanically limit the travel, or electrically reduce the output somehow, to match what the throttle expects.1 point

@SPARE 11, you ran the disk tools above as I requested, but I think you've only run chkdsk against your "C:" drive and not your "D:" drive, based on that scan log you pasted above earlier. Can you run this against "D:" as well please. (believe you need to specify the drive letter after the command).1 point

Your easiest solution is to add a 1 or 2 deadzone in the vertical axis tuning for the TDC. Also check that you don't have a double bind that's giving you wanted input.1 point

really no need for the sarcasm, our team has a full range of PC's from high to low end. Even then its not always possible to test every hardware, software or BIOS setting combination, some machines can behave completely different. It is important if you really are having issues to make a thread with the dcs log and dxdiag so we can look for clues. thanks1 point

I find it curious that given the plethora of posts regarding frame rate drop / stuttering amd significantly poorer overall performance since the last couple of updates that there is nothing specifically in the newsletter regarding this? Is it being covered by the broad brush of "This update will address Aircraft AI, Ground AI, weapons, and terrain optimisations."?1 point

Since i read lots of threads where ppl struggle(d) to get the Apache Datalink to use, i recently posted a rather lenghty method in another (campaign related) thread. I know this is not all-encompassing and that was not my intention, but i hope it will clarify some of the mistakes that can happen during setting up (e.g. using wrong preset; not tuning to SC; etc). This will mainly focus on SP but most of it can be used to setup MP as well. It works for me with a cold and dark a/c. Feel free to add any knowledge about the datalink (ingame) you have and are willing to share. Hope it helps! Good hunting. Geschrieben vor 2 Stunden (bearbeitet) lets say "it depends". First things first: the only thing that is working for me so far, is to send and request the PP (present position) from AI, so that i can see the symbol of the sending AH-64D on the TSD. If i request FARM reports, i get none ("XMIT NAC"), while sending works (though even if the AI recieves it cant "do" anything with it ^^). Targets, FZs or NFZs, etc is still udner development afaik. Ok, now lets start. The SP Mission has to be set up to support AH-64D datalink on every AH-64D (AI and player/clients). BUT most of this stuff can also be done ingame, though you need to know some info which can more easily be optained though the mission editor. There is one (more like two) prohibiting option(s) that have to be checked to make it workable at all from my experience (see "c" and "d"). ME (mission edior) settings: a) check or set frequencies, e.g. 225 AM. For AI this can only be set in the "unit" tab (when you click on a unit). check in the player AH-64D in the (unit tab ->) radio tab, that under ARC-164 (UHF radio) channel 2 you have the same freq (e.g. 225 MHz AM). [we use channel 2 because we will use Preset 2 for the datalink] b) check "aircraft additional properties", some blue symbol lke 3 points in a row (lower unit tab where you can also choose waypoints, loadout, etc) -> check or set Datalink Originator ID and ownship callsign, e.g. i set the AI to be "Palehorse 6-1", gave it Datalink Orig ID of 6 and "datalink" callsign P-61 (addition: in the TSD for "P-61" you will only see "-61" bc it will only display 3 letters. Keep that in mind). Max number ID is 39. the callsign is just how that Apache will show up in Datalink and on the TSD. c) check that in the "waypoint" tab, in the first waypoint there is: EPLRS on (sometimes "EPLRS(on) -a"). Normally its automatic but sometimes it got (or gets) erased. Like discriped in my previous post, i found out that if EPLRS is not set to "on", the AI will not use datalink (my assumption!). d) set in the "datalinks" tab (pink tab with 3 little symbols like two squares and a rectangle) for EVERY AH64-D you want to communicate with by datalink: datalinks -> SMDL (no other option atm) -> Settings: check that PRESET 2 is set to UHF SC (= single channel) and DL NET is ticked. [addition: you can also change the name of the PRESETs here, but this is only how they show up on your (Apaches) COMs-page and EUFD. so not really needed atm and especially not needed for AI at all] SMDL -> Networks: navigate to chosen Preset (in this case "2") and add the groups/units to that preset you want to reach via this preset (up to 8 primary members / 16 team members). There you can recheck datalink ID and c/s. This is the (my) way, how I made it work for me. Not saying this is the method. Normally a difference in freq (UHF) to the Preset (e.g. if you choose VHF on PRE 1 instead of UHF PRE 2) shouldnt make a difference. BUT as long as we cant change freqs on AI aircraft (other then with set freq in waypoint options or the one "voice" freq in the main unit tab), the player has to be on the correct freq (so correct freq on the used preset), to communicate with AI via datalink. Ingame (flight) settings: I.) If we did set all up as described above we only have to "tune" to the correct Preset. Get in your Apache, set left MPD to COM. check the EUFD, use the "DL" labeled rocker (IDM Rocker Switch) down one to switch to UHF radio DL (the square with a hole in it) and also use the "RTS" rocker switch down once to switch "voice" also to the UHF radio (need it to change UHF preset). Now press on the "P" button on the right side of the EUFD to see all presets, and use the "WCA" labeled rocker switch (left side) down once to switch to Preset 2. Then press the "Enter" button on the right side EUFD. Now on the EUFD it should display "(square with hole / < / dot) UHF* 225.000 PRE 2 L2 ..." Go to the TSD (right MPD), press "RPT" (reports) top left. then left side "PP" (present position). check down left on the TSD page, if "MSG" is set to "RQST" or "SEND". put it to "RQST" if its not. Check if in the top right some datalink callsigns show up (in my case "-61" for Palehorse 6-1 and "R-1" for Rotary 1-1 (both AH-64D)). Choose if you want all of them "ticked" to send you their PP or just one etc. Press "SEND UHF L2" right side (only shows up if 1 "recepient" is ticked). Now some symbols (helicopter) with the datalink c/s should pop up on the position of the requested datalink members. Make sure you zoomed the TSD out enough to see them, and make sure they are flying or at least are fully started up. Check if you have line-of-sight and range to those datalink members (the UHF antenna is located on the underside of the tail boom !!!). If you get "XMIT NAC" there might be something wrong, not set up correctly or an other factor. II.) like i said you can set this all up within the cockpit. i will only briefly cover some hints to it here, but @Wags has some very good vids on datalink which i will link to at the end of this rather long post. a) COMs page, press "Preset 2 L2" on the left (if UHF is shown or not shown) -> "UHF" (top) -> "TUNE UHF" (down right) -> "SC" (UHF radio will be tuned to SC of preset 2. you can check SC of preset 2 in the middel, in my case "SC: 225.000". b) COMs page in the middel you see "Ownship" and in my case "H-2" (Hammerhead 2-1) which is my Datalink callsign. Press "ORIG ID" on the lower row and you get your ownship datalink ID on the top right "DATALINK ORIG ID" in my case "2". c) COMs page press "Preset 2" -> "NET" (lower row middel). Here you can see all your datalink "members" on that PRESET. you can also delete members, add members, switch if a member is team or primary, check their datalink IDs and c/s and you can also change them. this will only change those in YOUR aircraft. e.g. if you change the ID to an other number then set up in the ME, it will not work. The datalink IDs (on this page referred to as "SUB" = subscriber ID) are one per aircraft! Also the datalink c/s will only change how you see them on YOUR aircrafts datalink and thereby TSD. e.g. if i change the datalink c/s of "-61" (which is Palehorse 6-1) to "222" (always needs to be 3 letters), that aircraft will show up as "222" on my TSD, but nothing will change OUTSIDE of MY helicopter. He will still be Palehorse 6-1 on comms. You should also have a member directory "MBR DIR" on the left lower side of the NET page. Here you should see all datalink aircrafts even if they are NOT put in YOUR preset. They show up with a/c callsign, datalink c/s and datalink ID. BUT, if the AI has not been set up in the ME to have YOUR aircraft in their preset, it WONT WORK. Hope this all helps in getting you started! good luck FARM Reports (NOT with AI !) Target sharing via Datalink in multiplayer Greetings K ----------------------------- sorry, this took some time and got to be a wall of text. but i thought i rather try to explain it completely and thoroughly then half hearted. if you have any more questions, ask or PM me. Any typos or spelling mistakes are intentional english is not my first language, hope its read-able xD cya1 point

My collection of C47 Military and Civil skins. I know this issue is old, but it's a headache. I built a mission with the full array of civilian aircraft traffic passing through, landing and leaving airports. As soon as I spawn in on the ground, Jester starts yelling like we're merged. And when in the air, he interprets the same and completely abandons the tgp work.1 point

Just wanted to point out that besides being able to toggle on/off switches using the MISSION START trigger and X:Set Command Action(), you can also control rotary knobs like cockpit light dimmers! For example, changing line 4 of DCS/MissionEditor/MissionEditor.lua from false to true and viewing the tooltip popups on the Options->Control screen as described by Rudel_chw earlier in the thread allowed me to find that the F18 Console Light Dimmer was cockpit id 9, button press 3010. To change this dimmer rotary knob I added a MISSION START Trigger which executes the command: X: cockpit perform clickable action (9,3010,1,"") (note the "1" means move the knob +1 increment). I figured that the command would need to be repeated many times to move the dimmer knob throughout it's range of motion. Turns out it takes about 36 increments to turn the knob from completely off to completely on so I just repeat the command 36 times. Turning one of these cockpit light dimmer knobs halfway up requires repeating the command about 18 times. I'm also using the MISSION START trigger to setup my LDDI and RDDI the way I like by finding the codes for pushing the required LDDI & RDDI PB (push buttons) and also executing them with the X: cockpit perform clickable action() command. Now I'm able to begin every mission with my F18 configured just the way I like :thumbup:1 point
