a lot is going on lately but i keep creating my own PBR textures when i get to it, it takes time but the good thing is that many of those textures can be used for many buildings. Just a few more normal maps and roughmets are missing. I also created a few more models allready.. anyway... a small update.. more soon12 points

FPV Quadcopter Mod for DCS This is a basic flyable FPV drone mod. See ReadMe file in download for info on controls. Note that this is a beta release and may be incomplete. Bugs include issues with ground collision. AI does not work. Install like any other flyable mod in: C:\Users\***\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\aircraft Download: https://github.com/CrudeCoder1/DCS-FPV-Drone8 points

Not sure I get it. I also fly exclusively in VR, but having the pilot model in the way is more distracting than anything else to me. Not like you can move your arm or leg to see that gage or switch. I find it a bit rough not to buy a great module just for that but that’s just me. I mean come on we’re talking about the Corsair7 points

As for proportions, it is visible here. The canopy seems too big for the rest and it is not perspective because it is visible in other screenshots. One of the worst editions of Su-22 paper models is the "Mały Modelarz" model from 1990 and 2003. It had very bad proportions in this place. Of course, your model is not as bad, but somehow it reminded me of that - http://www.kartonowki.pl/modele-galeria/model/3559,su-22-fitter-mm-2003. Very well, it was done in the Sniper's model (below) and there the proportions are correct. Sometimes the scan and transfer to 3D by machine can cause some disproportions, which are worth assessing by eye anyway. Real one: I think it's worth improving it because these aspects are quite visible, although I'm also a purist, so maybe not everyone will be bothered by it ;).5 points

You're so right! I also fly only VR. But for me the pilot in the cockpit is the immersion breaker, it looks crude and distracts me and also do not respond to my arm movements so that parts of the cockpit are covered. I never realised that the MiG-21 has no pilot body ...4 points

A "late summer look" for Cold War Germany map. Works best with gamma setting around 2.2, depending on your display. In case you prefer brighter surface, increase surface gamma in "Mods\terrains\GermanyColdWar\shadingOptions.lua" (currently 0.7, original value is 0.78). Same can be done for trees and objects (buildings) Download Link Probably breaks IC Update 03.07.2025 - v2 - Simplified the mod, only increased brightness of existing textures instead of swapping them - Fixed missing wheat textures3 points

I´m in DCS now for half a year and there are some issues which are quite annoying on a every day base. The AI. Its rediculous that the AI can´t perform a simple overhead break. I mean, there must be a way to fix that, if not by making the AI actually intelligent, then why don´t you record a standart pattern which the AI performs every time like a replay. I mean the AI is actually able to perfom a somehow carrierbreak. Same when the AI defends missiles. When our squandron reviews the tacview after each mission, the AI flights are just doing some samba dance no real pilot would attempt to do. These are basic elements which could at least give you the feeling that the AI is not totally insane. There are standard manouvers for every aircraft that every player has to lern, like how to defend a sam, how to make a hook turn or fly a cap. These are very simple manouvers and it feels like you just don´t give a <profanity>. I´m realy scared of what you call a dynamic campaign if the foundation of it is this crap of an AI. The Tanker. In my single player missions there is allways a message displayed, that due to a recent refuelbug, the AI isn´t able to refuel besides the player. So maybe that worked in the past. But its very immersion breaking and can´t be that monster of a challange to fix, or is it? If you just could get rid of these inadequacies it would feel so much better. I do understand that you can´t make money with such improvements on first glance like with a new module but that is a very narrow view. My experience over the last view month, where I got in touch with the german community is that nearly every one would go for it, if you would get a real competitor. If microsoft would add weapons to their fligth simulator or Falcon BMS would get desent graphics you would face some serius sales problems. So please ED, spent some love on the very basics, and then spent some love on the modules you allready released to early access a decade or so ago. We would realy appreciate. Oh, and if you are still looking for some money to make, think about an AI ATC Module like sayintentions or beyond atc. That would be a gamechanger and a potential cashcow.3 points

I have the same issue. At first I tried to fix it myself, but nothing I could think of made any difference so after pulling out my hair (stuttering issues when DCS has been running flawlessly before is quite frustrating) I decided to look on the forum, and here it is: more people talking about the exact same thing. And yes the stuttering on the main menu stops after about a minute, but even in a mission I am seeing "cpu limited main thread" more often than I care about.3 points

@bhoop19 has already started work on a standalone version that does not use the F-15C avionics. It will be a long process and not something anyone should expect anytime soon. It takes a lot of work and he, like most of us, is doing this during his free time after working a full-time job and spending time with loved ones. So, yes, something is in the works for a future date, but not anytime soon. In the meantime, be happy that we've got what we've got. It's the best it's ever been in my opinion. Assuming that you can get it working correctly in a regular mission in mission editor, as I stated above, I don't know if the quick start missions work or not. It was said that the cold start quick mission worked. It's not like this jet is hard to start up. Battery - ON, Generators Left/Right - ON, APU start. Once it's up and running, that's it. Taxi, take off. Those quick start missions were written for a version that was introduced in 2020 unless I'm mistaken.3 points

Personally, I don't really get the craving for a pilot body either. I found it more disturbing than helping with immersion (strong case of uncanny valley). VR and 2D. But to each his own...... I will probably get both anyway, but I find the Corsair much more appealing. With all its quirks. Whereas the Hellcat is certainly a formidable Warbird, but otherwise pretty generic.3 points

Dear Ugra Team ( @MAESTR0), thank you for this incredible map! I’m just curious if there are any plans to change the shelters on the west German side and make them more realistic?! In Büchel the form is almost correct, a bit to round-ish and the 4 doors in the front are missing as well as a bit to small, as a Tornado wouldn’t fit in there with its wings in fully forward position what they usually did during their after start checks. At Pferdsfeld you have placed the shelters like they’ve used in the east! It would be much appreciated if you could change these to the western style. Attached you’ll find a picture of a Shelter from Pferdsfeld Airbase. Hope to hear from you or get any feedback if you’re planning to change the mentioned items. cheers2 points

The F-14A/B Tomcat Combat Fundamentals Guide provides the necessary procedures to efficiently and effectively learn the necessary skills to be successful in effectively using the DCS F-14 Tomcat airframe. The Heatblur F-14 Tomcat Flight Manual, DCS F-14 Tomcat Chucks Guide, and the Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) manual all provide detailed information on aircraft systems and systems operation. This publication and the other documents complement each other. Custom made checklist for the HeatBlur F-14 A/B module. Taken from the NATOPS procedures, and modified for our purposes. Includes: -Start up -Airfield Ops -CV Ops As well as QRG's for : -CASE I and III recovery charts -TID symbology Creating these manuals and guides are a labor of love and passion, but it doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It takes a lot of time, patience and research and support from many people around me. If you enjoy these manuals and they help you, they’ve accomplished exactly what they are designed to do. @BIGNEWY Since the 2.9.15 topic was locked and we're now on 2.9.16, I'll start a new one. Since Friday's update I have encountered every single one of the previously reported issues. Right now in fact, as I type this the game has locked up on loading for the sixth time in the last two hours. Saving missions, loading mission, exiting missions, exiting the game, starting the game, all of these continue to have the same performance problems. Sometimes it does work correctly or at least mostly responsive. Others, you're fighting just to get the thing to start up. It's really frustrating. Rolling back to 2.9.14, again, resolves every single issue with no other changes.2 points

And this is an example of how different we all are, VR is an opportunity for me to experience having a fully immersive cockpit without having the expensive of spending what would be thousands of pounds to pay for a home pit which I couldn’t afford plus I wouldn’t have the space for anyway, and I do find a level of immersion that I find authentic, however looking down at an empty seat is just for me a distraction and an immersion breaker and once I have it in my mind and particularly because there are so many options in DCS to fly aircraft that have them I’d rather choose another option, and I know there are plenty of others that feel the same way, having asked the question about the the pilot in the Mig 21 and getting a reply saying it was planned, all be it back in 2021, but then asking a question on the forums about the F4U and getting a reply that I can only take to mean they have no interest in doing one I’ve come to the decision that the F4U won’t be for me, I’m a Mig 21 customer and I hope one day Magnitude will stay true to their statement that it will be added, but after the situation with other 3rd party modules I’m far more careful with what I buy now on DCS. But anyway I don’t hold any malice I genuinely hope that people enjoy the Corsair and they can get success with it.2 points

Not a proper release but some more additions: Working slowly on a 3.4 at the moment, I aim to bring in a few things in to make it easier for mission creators should they want to utilise some of the effects. I've mostly finished a vehicle IED option, visuals could do with tweaking perhaps if people have feedback but there's a bunch of options with it - Added optional A10 murder mode which adds a configurable explosion to every hit event with the a10 as an initiator - New Feature: IED. I hate to tell you, but expect to spend as much time (if not more) tinkering with your VR settings as you do flying in DCS. Not only can VR be time consuming to setup, but it can also eat up a lot of time with diagnosing/trying to fix settings. Just something as simple as a DCS update can ruin previous smooth experiences. (The latest DCS version has created micro stutters for me that weren't there before that I had to go finding and tweaking again to try and get a better experience). Windows updates can automatically revert settings that you've set (such as re-enabling core parking, windows game mode, etc), so it's worth having a 'check list' of the things that you've changed that you know work to go over if you start experiencing problems again in the future. I would put VR under the 'experimental' category with DCS. Both Pimax software, and DCS seem to be released in perpetual "BETA" states now - and I'm not a fan of how windows takes full control over it's updates either. That's not to say that it can't ben an enjoyable experience, but the first thing I highly recommend is lowering your expectations to ones that are realistic. That way you won't be as disappointed, and can start enjoying the positives. I didn't watch the video - but a few things that's definitely worth checking: Disable HAGS in Windows Disable Windows Game Mode Make sure your NVIDIA CPanel is set to 'Prefer Max Performance" Windows Power setting to Ultra Try Rivatuner and lock the FPS to the same as your headset. (ie, if running 72hz, then lock to 72fps to see if this helps). Be prepared to experiment with this. You may find a better experience going to 120fps in your HMD even if you don't hit 120fps). YMMV - Everyone seems to have different experiences with DCS as to what is better for them. Disable windows core parking. (This is a big one - park control is good software for helping with this). Consider restricting DCS to P-cores only (using process lasso). YMMV - some say to do this, others say not to - so you need to try and see what works for you. Turn down mouse (and keyboard if you have a gaming one) polling rate to something lower than 1000. Start with extremely low/conservative Graphic settings, and get it smooth / working OK for you first. Then you can increase the settings to what you like. This helps eliminate whether it's DCS settings itself that's the issue, or something external. Disable TACView if you have it installed (at least until you have things working smoothly). Don't be afraid to rename your saved games\DCS folder to DCS.OLD, and let DCS create a new 'fresh' configuration for you that you can play with. This helps eliminate any previous settings/mods/etc from the equasion until you have something running smooth. You can always copy DCS.OLD back to DCS to revert (or copy just things like the config\input directory) if you get a better experience with a fresh config without having to rebind your whole setup again. Test on a resource-friendly map first. (ie: Caucasus), and not in the Apache, Chinook, or other aircraft that are demanding with textures, but something easier if you have a module that's more simple first. Consider dropping Pimax back to version 1.29 if nothing else works (Again YMMV - but I've heard of some users that are staying on that version for the time being until there's a solid release/update). In addition to this, I would also consider dropping back to 2.9.14 in DCS if you're still experiencing issues and see if this helps. As mentioned, numerous users are having problems with DCS 2.9.16 (and .15 might be OK - but IIRC some are dropping back to .14) and stuttering/FPS issues - so if you seem to be having no luck after trying all the main things you can find on the internet - it may be worth rolling back to see if the current version might be a contributing factor to your experience. In a strange twist of fate, I've found that DCS can't hold 72FPS with the latest update in Germany CW. It stays at 72FPS mostly, but drops with stutters to 60 however if I change my HMD to 120fps - it can maintain 120FPS and drop to 110 around the same interval. Why it can't maintain 72FPS at 72HZ but can stay above 100FPS if I switch to 120HZ is a mystery. I can lock onto 60fps no problems without the stutters though, but of course Pimax doesn't have a 60hz refresh rate. This was the biggest problem coming across from HP which I had a smooth experience, to Pimax -as for whatever reason, these stutters are caused by momentary 'cpu bound' messages in DCS. I think it may have something to do with polling/interrupts and DCS not handling these efficiently with it's multi-thread implementations but that's a total guess. I'm no hardware/IRQ/interrupt expert (even if I do recall having to learn how to set the IRQ manually back in the DOS era with soundcards ) Good luck - I hope this is of some help.2 points

Before release, please improve the front landing gear model. It sits way too low here. The Su-22M4 on the ground has a rather characteristic silhouette, and the model unfortunately differs from the one we have in reality in this respect. Even under a heavy load, it should not sit as low as on the screenies. Btw. There is also a certain disturbance in the geometry of the canopy. How to call it - there is a bit too much glass and too little fuselage in this place. It is not a big problem and currently I can only base myself on these screenshots, but the fairing itself is too big in this place. At least that's how it looks. It would be nice to do it if possible.2 points

I am guessing not. Remember: It is known that time and time again, Pimax lies about their FOV numbers. OG Crystal supposedly had 115HFOV (when it reality it has more like 105) they originally advertised the Super 50ppd as having 135HFOV when in truth it's closer to 125, so I would assume that the Ultrawide will have barely a few degrees more for an optical engine that will take even longer to be delivered and with compromised binocular overlap. Again this is just a guess but I think it's better to wait for user reviews - NOT affiliate reviews. Honest user reviews take much longer to show up but are a better representation than the dozens of usual first YouTubers that Pimax compensates.1 point

Original post here. Pimax is happy to announce it has been developing its own solution for OpenXR runtime as well as Quadviews foveated rendering, coming to Pimax Play in the near future. The beta test for this is starting soon, with a release later this year. This is yet another step in our aim to provide the ultimate virtual reality experience with our VR headsets, such as the Pimax Crystal Light. What is the OpenXR Runtime? OpenXR is an open standard developed by the Khronos Group — a crucial piece of software that manges the communciation between your VR/AR hardware and the OpenXR API. Essentially, when you use OpenXR, this runtime acts as a translator, converting your application's requests into a format that your hardware can understand and process. In practical terms, the OpenXR runtime simplifies the management of multiple VR and AR devices. It allows applications to function seamlessly across different devices from various manufacturers, all while using the same codebase. Why Pimax Play integration Our decision to implement this feature comes with after user requests, as well as our wish to improve the Pimax Play experience. To have all software features integrated into Pimax Play greatly increases usability and adds to user convenience, without the need for having to download and install additional software. This new development also enables us to continue evolving the runtime. A shoutout to Mbucchia PimaxXR has been developed by Mbucchia, the visionary behind OpenXR Toolkit and PimaxXR, including the Quadviews features — which enormously improves performance in supported VR-games. Mbucchia's contributions have been instrumental in advancing the Pimax ecosystem, and we're proud to build upon his ideas and contributions with our own Pimax OpenXR runtime. Mbucchia has done more for VR than anyone could reasonably expect, and brought software that has powered VR headsets from users all around the world.1 point

Weapons are no problem, they can be disabled by mission. Systems are the problem, and this is a general DCS issue. If all modules had the ability to hard disable datalink, helmet sight, and GPS per-mission (and countermeasures for all the 70s aircraft in game with 80s-90s chaff/flare dispensers, and 90s TERNAV on the AJS37, etc. etc.), then it would be much less of a pain point for the community to be stuck with one specific example of each aircraft. I understand that for a study sim game, making many similar versions of one airframe is economically unattractive to developers. However some small effort to mitigate this by disabling systems would go 90% of the way to enable an order of magnitude more immersive historical missions.1 point

surely ED would need to make the entire API for the single button, which would be still broken in 1 year after the initial implementation.1 point

AI in general needs lots of work, ground and air AI. I'd love to see SAMs shutting down when HARM is fired, that would make it much harder to kill. In fact you would need one capable AI wingman (if in single player) or human wingman to kill that SAM. Then they magically turn on when they know you are in range, how do they know. IADS is much needed. Same for AI in the air, they know who you are and where you are from miles and miles away even with no Datalink or Radar or any IFF. But I guess ED knows this and works on this, the thing is that AI is really hard work and their team is not that big so we will have to be very patient.1 point
