This capture is from your module as flown in the recent event. It is focussed on the airspeed indicator and the altimeter. This photo is focused on the same gauges from an actual 9.12. You said that you had used the Slovakian '8605' 9.12A. Why are the gauges in the module you are making in "FEET" and knots?5 points

Hi DCS Dev Team, We’d love to see an option that allows us to adjust the visual appearance of the sea state independently from the wind settings. Right now, the only way to get rougher seas is by cranking up the wind, which often creates unrealistic environmental conditions just to achieve a certain ocean look. If you could implement a “Sea State Picker”, similar to how we can select cloud presets, it would add a lot to mission immersion and scenario flexibility. As a former Navy guy, I can tell you there are plenty of situations where seas can be rough due to distant storms or swells while the local winds remain light — and it would be fantastic if DCS could capture that nuance. I believe this would be a widely appreciated quality-of-life improvement for the community and enhance the realism we’re all chasing. Thanks for considering it, and for all the hard work you put into making DCS what it is! Much appreciated,4 points

There are some new screenshots from the campaign in post 1. Additionally, the campaign will most likely be available tomorrow (this is quite a broad word depending on the latitude) Edit: The files have been uploaded to the ED server (30.06). Im waiting for approval, as soon as it happens I will inform you about it. Regards!4 points

Yeah, by all indications, Ron Zambrano is pretty much why they're in the fix they're in. As I said in the other thread, Elon Musk sized ego with none of his influence and a fraction of his money. If it wasn't for him, this legal dispute would probably be long resolved.3 points

That will be breaking the rules. Let's say they've set a new "benchmark" for sea swelling. Just search on YT for 4.38 release trailer. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk3 points

It’s pretty normal that there’s a surge in posts after official announcement of a new module, no? But other than that there’s nothing new to talk about - only repeating what’s been discussed many times already. I’m sure there will be renewed activity when news on the module appears in newsletters and/or Wags’ videos, and again once it gets close to actual public release3 points

I think the mod is fantastic! They're just minor details, and to me, it's nothing that discredits the quality of the 3D model! It's really a shame that many 3D models of planes and helicopters are still the same ones from the Lock On era, and the Su-17M4 present in DCS is really very ugly. This Su-22M4 mod is very important and a great addition to DCS.3 points

One part I DEFINITELY did not like was when Jesse Brown was reciting racial epithets that had been spewed against him in his past. I am a 70 year-old African-American who has experienced similar racism in the south as a youngster and totally understand what he went through but 1) did he actually do that in in real life? 2) If so, I can't understand why he would do it (but I am not a psychologist) and have never heard of any other African-Americans doing the same and 3) even if he did do such a thing, I don't think they should have included it in the movie. It did nothing to add clarity to his relationship with Hudner and racism was not a focus of the movie.3 points

Just to be clear, in the campaign you are flying a German F-4, which in real life would have been an F-4F, which was not equipped for Sparrows (although they could be retrofitted... as you will see later), so the "'Winder only" condition of the first mission is realistic. Having said that, it IS a really hard mission (which it likely would be in real life...). You need to be very tactical about how you approach the -23s. Jester actually points this out. Think long and hard about an F-Pole, and pulling them out of position (and where you want to pull them to...). Your missile evasion needs to be top notch. Don't try to fire on them until they have expended their shots (which means between you and your wingman, you need to account for 4 Apexes before you go offensive). The patch that brought the campaign into the game also seems to have added some bugs from the DCS Core into the campaign, and my understanding is that ED knows about them and a fix is in work for the next update. Not sure if your audio issue is due to that, I haven't seen it (and I have flown that mission MANY times... ;-). I actually liked having the campaign on the Kola map. Based on what we know about the OpsPlan that existed at that time, I suspect it is a very plausible situation to have the remnants of the Luftwaffe up there defending the peninsula. I am hoping to see either a prequel or sequel on the Germany map in the future, but I actually really like the design of the scenario. It seems very much what I remember being afraid of in the mid-80s. I can't speak to the livery question, but my understanding is this was done by one person (with some volunteer voice actors), so custom liveries and completely re-making the Jester voice files is likely a big ask. I think he did an excellent job with this. In any case, good luck, and good hunting!3 points

It's an amazing story, the two books written on it are excellent. The movie is typical Hollywood. Pilots hanging out on the flight deck while their buddies are landing, long straight in approaches, taking down giant bridges with rockets, MiG engagement that didn’t happen, but they got the important point across. It’s perplexing that flight simmers focus on rivet counting and the airplane footage (which was gorgeous), and can’t remember the relationship and devotion between wingman that resulted in a Medal of Honor. The Elizabeth Taylor part actually happened, the crew of USS Leyte actually raised over $24,000 in today’s dollars and donated it to Daisy Brown for her college fund. Hudner’s home town held a parade, gave him $9000 as a gift, which he actually donated to daisy. Hudner had a long career, did an exchange tour with the USAF, flew F84’s and F101, back to the USN, where he served as a squadron CO flying F8’s on USS Ticonderoga (flying Crusaders on 27C Essex class carriers requires formidable fortitude), staff jobs and finally, a carrier XO. He never considered himself a hero. Hudner and Brown both had ships named in their honor. How did you miss all of that? Want to know what a real “badass” looks like? Look no further than the lives of Jesse Brown and Thomas Hudner.3 points

You mean finally manage to destroy an unarmored truck that's as close as 500ft (~150m) to a 1,000 lbs bomb? That's actually good news. Thank you ED. For some context, according to statistics compiled by the GICHD (Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining) the typical lethal area of an Mk82 (500 lbs) is 80m by 30m (260ft by 100ft) with RED (Risk Estimate Distance) of 250m(!) for 10% (one in ten) people incapacitated! ...and that's just the "small" 500 lbs Mk82. Here is a link to the GICHD website for research: https://www.gichd.org/our-response/policy/explosive-weapons-in-populated-areas/ Direct PDF download link for the MK82 study (Annex-E): https://www.gichd.org/fileadmin/uploads/gichd/Publications/Explosive_weapon_effects_web.pdf Seems they are now quite close to real life, so proper parameters and planning matters.2 points

The books are more interesting than the movie. Hollywood has been turning out cartoon scripts that assume that their audiences are comprised of idiots that need to be coddled. The music added to the sadness for sure. It’s a sad, but inspiring story. Hopefully, Jesse and Tom are flying wing on each together again.2 points

This case is a combination of BOTH: First, he's reading it in Knots and not MPH. Second, he's reading IAS and not TAS. 258kts IAS is about 300kts TAS at 6000ft, depending on exact conditions. And 300kts is about 345mph, which is right around where the 1D's TAS at 6000ft should be. @LeCuvier Your Corsair is going EXACTLY how fast it should be at that altitude once you factor in all the conversions.2 points

Never had any mods, still had issues with the pod. Do a few hard rudder inputs or pretend you're dodging an SA-15. Pod loses target - normal, gyros can't keep up. Pod can't reslave back to target even though target coords are still in memory - not normal. Also the pod should be stabilized in short range in the rear hemisphere, not what it is now.2 points

Hey Tom! Why do you use a modifier? I just use my trim hat, or another hat/buttons combo. It will only browse the menu when the menu is open and function normally when it's closed. Just like the George and Petrovich interfaces. Cheers!2 points

Since ED introduced bindings for their comms menu up/down/back/select/... I find it very simple and less immersion breaking to navigate through the menu(s). I just have a modifier and the 4-way comms button on my hotas to do this. I don't say it is better or worse than the big HB-style wheel, but you already don't have to fiddle with F-keys anymore in VR.2 points

At the end of the day, it's about offering a MiG-29 experience. Options to use the ER, ET and even R-77(!) would be good things. With only 1 variant and full asking price of $79.99 USD, it's important to be somewhat flexible to the audience needs. Everyone benefits from DCS: MiG-29 Fulcrum module being a successful module. I'm not advocating going full fantasy or anything, but adding a few more "plausible" loadout options to appeal to a broader audience will sell more modules. It also give more options to create more modern "what if" scenarios. As long as there is transparency what weapons has been added as "ED version", I can't see any downsides to it...2 points

Intro: I really appreciate the DTC feature coming to life and as well seeing it being introduced step by step, so that we can provide feedback while its still evaluated and improved. This thread is no criticism, I only provide my point of view, which may be totally off of what most others think but also might potentially adress what lot of other people think. My point of view is that of a player mainly starting DCS to get into some MP server, then spawning into some dynamic slot and possibly doing so multiple times while staying on the joined server. Situation: Currently, when spawning into a role slot, we then enter the DTC management screen, by either opening it in the mission planner before spawning or after spawn by a keypress from within the cockpit. Then we have to do the following steps: 1. Click on the conspirative "File" clickspot 2. click on "import" 2. navigate to a folder we will have to create before manually when saving a DTC we did populate from within the mission editor. 3. select the specific DTC there 4. done The tedious thing about this is, that we have to do all of this every time we join a server, and whenever we have to respawn in that same slot. All while the drop down list in the same screen for loading a DTC "available mission files" seems to be left without any use. Let's change this: Suggestion: Have DCS create DTC folders for each installed DTC-capable module in the savegames section. DTCs you create for this module should then save there by default. Like this: If you then join into a server and open up the DTC management screen, the "load" drop down list should automatically be populated with all the DTCs found in the folder of the very module you are currently accessing the DTCs for. Maybe even rename the item in the manager from "available mission files" to "available DTC". So players would only need to select a file in this drop down list and then click load. The whole folder navigation and file selection would then be obsolete. - Icing on the cake would be the DTC manager autoselecting the DTC file you used on your most recent flight on that module. Advanced Suggestion: Maybe it would be beneficial to eventually be able to save DTC files from within the DTC manager, especially the moment we get access on the nav/target points partitions and tactical stuff (just insert the specific name for whatever respective module, of course an AH-64 will have different format than a Viper) but also MFD configurations and radio/datalink presets often see a need to be adjusted while on a server mission for repeated use, so it would be great to "edit" the DTC while on ground and then save it for any future use in similar/same mission conditions. Thank you ED!2 points

Terrain streaming and memory management are most likely governed by the terrain engine ED uses, and it seems for ED maps at least this is the way forward. I personally use the F10 map as little as possible for this exact reason. And yes that’s annoying when you want to quickly check tower frequencies and TACAN for nearby airfields for example.2 points

I've also been flying DCS for well over a decade and have an opinion like anyone else. Take my advice as you wish to. But I was pointing out that buying the full package is a better option than the individual regions, not only as you get the full package once completed but the price is cheaper than if you buy separately later.2 points

That's definitely a bug/exploit. I don't think it was physically possible to set the RPMs past 2700 in the real machine.2 points

I used the English cockpit for the show. I am not sure I would judge this from a camera phone recording a big screen TV.2 points

Aaaand, the final IFR training was flawless and I passed the first time! I hope people buy this module. Lots of fun to do real procedures. On to the campaign next. Did you see my post about the MK-82s not exploding? I don't think I'm crazy, but I'm going to try again later. Not sure if the campaign has bomb dropping...2 points

I just started on this today and have the Kola map set up on the same day/month/year/time this operation took place. Downloaded the Tirpitz mod AND the German WW2 destroy mods to go with it. Added all the AAA that was really there during the attack (all part of the Normandy asset pack). Carrier group is exactly where is should be according to documentation. Also downloaded the WW2 British destroyers and frigates. Have them surrounding the Carriers. When the Hellcat comes out, I will add it for sure. Right now the Corsairs are set up to bomb, but during the real operation, the Hellcats straffed and bombed while the Corsairs provided air support against the Luftwaffe. Need to add the 109's that were up there (not many of them). Also there were roughly 14 or so U-Boats along the route that tried to strike the carrier group. I think 4 to 6 were sunk and the rest fled without getting a single hit on the strike group. Be cool to put in a submarine patrol mission. Last but not least, you MUST check out this DCS thread if you are interested in the WW2 Naval Mod assets. Hawkeye60 who started making all these years ago is hard at it updating stuff and making new ones. This is another Mod maker that should really be pulled into making an asset pack for DCS or they should inculde his mods like the have Massun and Current Hill.2 points

Least? YMMV. It's been pretty much brought every year from time to time in various threads, and ED always responded it would never come. Then the SE entered the scene where quite a few responded they'd rather have the C and the SE was better than nothing. The Fulcrum is sought after being Redfor and all, even if the majority rather have the Flanker. If I've read the room, (forum), correctly that is. And I read pretty much every post here.2 points

First it would be nice if ED honour this list before adding a new DLC pack. Just 8 years from the former post about adding this. Avro Lancaster Hawker Typhoon Bf 109 G-6 B-24 B-25 B-262 points

I would advise sticking with the Q2 for now and get to learn all the tricks for VR. If you find the resolution to low then you need to supersample. If you are using quest link then I would use cable. Use oculus debug tool (Google how to locate it in your Meta folders) and set super sampling to about 1.5. Set the Bitrate to about 700 Mbps and see how it looks. Once you have a better idea about how to use VR then look for an upgrade. There is nothing perfect at the moment. Don't always assume that the highest native resolution will be the best.2 points
