No burnouts for me mate, just very limited time to deal with the daily life chores and even more limited for DCS modding, RL keeps getting in the way, meanwhile i have @Petr005 working on the long awaited changes for the 3D model, extensive cockpit object modeling, to bring the details to a higher level.10 points

Good Morning, everyone, I'm sorry I've been away for so long. I've been working in the background on random mods, but nothing really serious. I'm healing well, but i haven't gotten my mind back into full-time modeling. Just taking it slow and easy. Life has taken over with family, so if you have kids, then you know what I mean. Thanks for all your concerns. Sierra99, it's funny you ask about the AN/SPS-52 Radar. I was just working on that radar for the Adams-class destroyer. ---Yes, it is possible. I say that because vehicle and ship scripting are interchangeable. Looks like they used vehicle code for the static object. Just looking at it. The radar code can probably be swapped out with the radar code from the Tarawa or any other ship's radar. --Sorry for the late response. The latest mod I was working on was the USNS John Lewis Class Support ship. She's almost done. Once finished i will release her but now sure how at the moment. Please read below!!! ***** One thing I wanted to bring to your attention is that I have taken down my Admiral189 DCS World Mods website because the mods are being downloaded, ripped, and sold online. I honestly don't think there's a way around this as long as EDs .edm mod file is not secure. I will keep you all posted. Thanks for your patience. **************8 points

Assets I create in collaboration with ED will have more advanced weapons, as they are made in collaboration with ED. This means ED can create new weapon schemes and configuration that fits the specific weapons, like the ATACMS. Besides these, I will still maintain the current mod packs, and create new assets for them, like the J-35 in the picture above. Since these assets are created by me outside of the ED collaboration, they won't have the same kind of advanced or new weapon configurations.7 points

Please give the team time to look at all of the feedback and make the tweaks they need to, the module has just been released. This patch will have been to soon to add stuff to, it takes weeks to test updates, and the whole of DCS and that happens well in advance. So please be patient updates will come when the dev team are ready. thank you5 points

Oh definitely. That's one of the reason I've been excited about that new film "Warfare" as it avoids all of that. "Greyhound" was pretty good at avoiding it as well. There's not enough appreciation of films that don't coddle the audience.5 points

The Su-27 / Su-33 are now supported! You can download the update here: https://github.com/TicTac-93/FC-Clickable-Cockpits-Continued/releases/tag/v0.4.0 All that's left for full support is the Su-25A and T, some of my favorite aircraft in the FC pack. I was hoping ED would release their updated model by now, but I'll get started on the existing one now.5 points

Q2: Will all the assets from the Currenthill mod packs be added to DCS? A2: No. The library of new core assets are based off of the inventory of the Currenthill mod packs, but each asset are carefully chosen to be added to DCS. Each new core asset are implemented mostly from scratch to uphold a specific consistent standard of things like mesh and textures quality, animations, FLIR textures, LODs, destroyed models etc.4 points

We have the assets we have and in this case we are obliged to do what DCS itself offers without installing mods (not everyone can do this and for some it may be a problem). We only have full compatibility with objects directly related to DCS and this may guarantee (to some extent) compatibility of the campaign for some time in the future. Secondly, unfortunately I do not agree with what you write in some cases. A mix of vehicles is and was possible. Both Americans and Russians rolled through Afghanistan. Just look at many photos to see what the folklore is like in this regard, we have a total mix. As for bases, I don't know if you know but ANA soldiers used vehicles from Eastern Europe and Russia to a large extent, but over time they were also supplied by the American army (as part of training, as well as releasing facilities for the ANA units). Additionally, it is worth mentioning that some bases were divided, also with British or European soldiers, here we must also remember as well that we have a choice in DCS to have something in a desert skin (and not every vehicle has it) or green, which is not usually used in Afghanistan. Btw. Don't forget that locals also worked at the bases, for whom there were separate parking lots. I also don't have to add that some forces specifically used other vehicles to blend in with "the crowd", for their own safety. You really have a lot of options :). There are probably many good things ahead of us, especially when they start adding Currenthill mods & units to DCS, officially. Then there will definitely be more possibilities and it will be possible to do something better someday :), I hope too, but now we have a lot of limitations that we have no influence on. Playing DCS is probably a compromise and unfortunately you either accept it (with limited resources) or you don't have a good time ;). Cheers!4 points

The "Main" and the "Reserve" are the same fuel tank. (Main) The fuel pickup for the "Reserve" selector is just lower in the main tank allowing to draw from the lower portion of the main tank, ensuring fuel availability when the main supply runs low. If you run out of fuel in the "Main" tank, you can select "Reserve" to start picking up fuel again. There are two fuel pumps in the Corsair: Engine-Driven Fuel Pump. Auxiliary (Booster) Fuel Pump The primary fuel pump is an engine-driven pump, mechanically powered by the Pratt & Whitney R-2800-8W engine via an accessory drive. This pump was responsible for delivering fuel from the main tank (or selected external drop tank) to the engine’s carburetor under normal operating conditions and directly tied to engine RPM, meaning fuel flow increased with engine speed. In negative-G maneuvers or when fuel levels were low, the engine-driven pump could experience cavitation or fuel starvation, necessitating a backup pump. The Auxiliary (Booster) Fuel Pump ensures positive fuel pressure during critical phases of flight, such as takeoff, landing, high-altitude operations, or combat maneuvers. Prevented fuel starvation in situations where the engine-driven pump alone was insufficient, such as during negative-G maneuvers, steep climbs, or when switching between tanks (e.g., from drop tanks to main tank) and assisted in priming the engine during startup. The wing fuel tanks, which were present in earlier models like the F4U-1 and F4U-1A (each holding 62 US gallons, unarmored, and non-self-sealing), were removed in the F4U-1D. This was primarily to reduce vulnerability to enemy fire, as these tanks were prone to leaks and fires due to their lack of armor and self-sealing features. Additionally, the removal saved weight and made room for the fighter-bomber role, which required mounting points for external ordnance like bombs and rockets. In earlier Corsair variants, the wing tanks were located in the leading edge of the outer wing panels, outboard of the guns. These were primarily used for ferry missions and were often not filled during combat due to their vulnerability. By the time the F4U-1D was introduced in April 1944, the design prioritized external fuel options to compensate for the loss of internal wing tank capacity.4 points

(Dedicated campaign topic). Info + links. Hello Ladies and Gentlemen! I'm rushing with hot news for fans of the OH-58D "Kiowa Warrior" and DCS. A substantial, fully professional single player campaign (quality of paid versions or even better) will soon be coming to the DCS simulator. The campaign is intended for the Polychop Simulations OH-58D module, but you also need to have a map of Afaghanistan (the south-western part or the entire map). It is also worth adding that the campaign was created in cooperation with Ryan Robicheaux, the pilot of the Kiowa Warrior and the author of the book "Scouts out!". The campaign period is 2010. The campaign has been ready for some time, and is currently being finalized. What's most important for you, despite the large amount of my work and investment, the campaign will be available for free for fans of DCS (similarly to my previous one for the Mi-24P). You will find a full description of the campaign's manual (it will be important). The campaign will be available for download via the DCS website in User files section soon. For now, this is just a preview. The most important features of the campaign: Over dozen single player missions (14, lasting from 40 minutes to 1,5 hours gameplay of each) taking place in Afghanistan (DCS: Southwest Afghanistan map or the whole DCS: Afghanistan map is needed) Realistic, detailed scenarios, based on real events of the Operation Moshtarak (2010) and its prelude (although of course the campaign was adapted to the DCS environment and its possibilities, thus achieving a compromise between history and playability) Story driven campaign with a detailed mission introduction, voice commands and plot twists during the mission Proceeding the campaigns as the pilot of OH-58D and co-pilot/gunner/AMC Full, advanced voice package in English, even your co-pilot received his role! Several thousand lines of subtitles in English (only English is supported language) Various types of missions (also artillery guidance), including night ones Dedicated skin for Kiowa Warrior from period of Afghan war As real as it gets - cold starts only, you also need to return to the airport/FOB/FARP after the mission and special mission completion mode Auto ATC (automatic communication during takeoff and landing is used after selecting the appropriate radio) Prepared briefings (description of the situation and tasks), full documentation, graphics and photos Important data in the pilot's kneeboard Summary (including tips and tricks) in the manual, check it before the flight ;)! FPS friendly (tested in VR too), only the most necessary units plus the surroundings Custom background’s music created for this campaign (after successful completion of the campaign online access to the soundtrack) I'm aiming to release it in June this year, so now you have a great time to refresh your memory of the OH-58D ! The campaign is out now: DOWNLOAD LINK CAMPAIGN: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3345522/ DOWLOAD LINK SKIN: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3345514/ NOTE (important!): Before starting the campaign, be sure to read the whole manual ("Manual campaign OH58D") in the DOC folder, The path: DCS World\Mods\campaigns\OH-58D - Through the desert dust\Doc (folder) or directly after downloading in a zip file. There is a situational description (the most important historical background) as well as a method for installing the campaign, skin and user tips and FAQ. Btw. You can ask questions about the plot in this thread, or seek advices, but if you want to reveal the plot, it would be nice to use a "spoiler window" so as not to reveal the mission's assumptions and so that others can enjoy it as much as you do:3 points

There is a lot to like about this map, especially after the new update today and improved textures. Thank you for that!! But at the same time, I am getting nervous that the cities will not be fixed. They feel like placeholder cities at low level right now. At higher altitude they look nice - they are good from far, but far from good. As soon as you get low, there is no variety or distinction, and it is the same randomly rotated few assets for miles on end. Each of the major cities really needs a lot of TLC, because this map deserves to be used with helicopter ops. But right now, it's pretty lame for low level city flight. Does OnReTech intend to make the cities shine? Or will they be left to feel like procedural generations using the same few assets with a couple landmarks scattered about? I had assumed when I purchased the map they were in EA state, but I am beginning to fear they are considered "correct as-is". Please say it ain't so.3 points

I suspect we will be waiting a while still, but BN saying "no comment" means absolutely nothing. There could be an agreement signed and paid out whichever way but only planned to be announced at opening of business tomorrow morning and BN would still say that. Or both sides could have told the other where to shove talks and therefore any potential for talks irreconcilably broken and BN would say that.3 points

It's important to remember the F4U-1D does NOT have the auxiliary tanks in the wings. It only has the fuselage tank. The wing tanks were only present in the -1 and -1A, and were seldom used in the field because they weren't self-sealing, (they only had a fire suppression system for protection) introduced maintenance headaches, and to reduce weight. They were ultimately removed altogether in the F4U-1D and 1C, and all subsequent models.3 points

Sentiment from RB staff suggests any disagreement/dispute which initially led to this mess has been solved/finalized/settled for some months, and the ball no longer rests in RB's court to bring it to a close. Such are not official statements and thus unactionable by us as a community. It seems just about everyone on the planet aware of the dispute would like it resolved, which makes it curious as to why it has not already been, assuming we take the claim of the supposed IP dispute already having been crushed as truth. Not an accusation against ED, just interpretation. As @Mike Force Team says, patience is key.3 points

Experienced with pissing off his plane captain if his norm is 1000+ vvi landings in the hornet All jokes aside, the F15E definitely had a steeper learning curve with getting the landings down, compared to the other jet fighters. One major mistake i see often, are people not realizing how much fuel they still have after a sortie, often people coming back to land at 10k-15k of fuel. You absolutely should be dumping extra fuel weight, 3-4k at landing is a very comfortable fuel weight for the 15E. So for those who are struggling with descent rate, speeds in landing config or with landing long/overrunning- please consider your fuel If you fly by the numbers she is very tame on landing :)) nice little aerobrake to show off and wheelie past the jets on the ramp, looking on in awe..3 points

If you’re relying on the yaw SAS to keep you stable transitioning from forward flight to a hover and vice versa, you’re doing it wrong. The system does not have the authority to keep the nose where you would like it to be, and it’s not designed for that. It is not an auto pilot, the proper procedure whenever you’re making large changes to airspeed, power, altitude, etc is to hold the force trim interrupted and *fly* the helicopter. Real pilots have crashed perfectly good helicopters because they relied on the automation (which they didn’t understand couldn’t do what they wanted/expected) rather than just…flying the helicopter. Yes. There are known issues with excessive torque, but your issue is specific to failing to fly the aircraft and interact with the flight controls as they’re intended to be used.3 points

Settlements are signed by claimants with the party they contend that they have a claim against. Since RB staff are, by definition, employed by RB (not ED), any such action would not impact the proceedings between ED and RB because RB staff only have claims (unpaid work) against RB. It may well be that RB is trying to disentangle itself from their former staff to put a price tag on/cap what they owe their former employees. That's common practice to limit exposure. It does not, in any way, influence the legal aspect/proceedings between ED and RZ; I would disregard above statement in the context of ED/RZ.3 points

Their testing also shows that there's something up, whether it's the rpms being misreported or what. Regardless, neither a bf-109 nor a fw-190 should outrun this airplane at sea level. At "presently indicated" 2700rpm, they do so easily. It could also be that the rpms and the torque curve produced by it aren't lining up as they should. None of us have any information to really say. All we can do is observe: "it should be faster than these other airplanes, and it isn't."3 points
-
You are right. The Hercules can outrun the F4U-1D. I was misled by the Hercules' behaviour in other exercise missions which are just the same but with the German warbirds chasing. In these missions I can easily catch & kill the C-130's even with the FW-190A. So I never realized that the C-130 could be a lot faster.2 points
