Sorry, I didn't know the rules. I hope I didn't offend anyone. I just wanted to shed some light on the Mirage F-1M, based on what I know. My apologies.7 points

So, I’ve seen a lot of confusion about Pre Designate. The ED manual doesn’t explain it’s true purpose as they just say “do it if you have time.” I made this short video to explain its true purpose and other random air to ground things. It is actually for wind and target movement compensation, and seems to work very well on both accounts. I almost completely sure Wags demo in his video was slightly misunderstood, you don’t need to track the target for 2-4 seconds with pre designate before releasing lock button (EDIT my mistake, found an obscure German manual saying to do so for exactly 3 seconds). You only need to put pre designate reticule on the target and release, and it’s 2-4 seconds AFTER you release lock button that you have max accuracy (there is minimum time of 2 seconds after releasing lock button before corrections can be completely computed.) This is why if you pre designate and move nose away, the reticule lags because it’s compensating lead for target movement. Anyways no need to watch my video, but if you want every scrap of air to ground knowledge go ahead lol6 points

The Vietnam War Vessels mod has been updated to version 2.1.0. This release introduces the RF-101B Voodoo to the pack. While the twin-seat variant included here did not see combat in Southeast Asia, its single-seat counterpart was active in the early years of the Vietnam War. We hope you’ll still enjoy having this iconic reconnaissance aircraft represented. Other changes include: Added navigation lights to the RA-5C Vigilante Added a guard tower to the buildings pack Downloads: https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vCJvp8jqN1nTK0J4yyWJiKveBn4PJSdB?usp=sharing Known Limitations for the RF-101B: The landing gear doors and covers don't close perfectly The landing gear suspension is not animated The BORT number should be five digits, not three The pilot is generic rather than specific for the Voodoo. If the module is done, they should take the early access tag away then and call it released. But the module isn't done. It is entirely reasonable to expect developers to continue to invest man-hours into modules labelled "early access". On 17 September 2021, BINEWY stated AI like petrovich "is planned for later on in early access". Four years, it's not even possible to ask the navigator to tune a navaid nor is it possible to switch to navigator position and have an AI pilot maintain level flight. These are barebones features of a multicrew aircraft, far below the standard of others in the game and yet the mosquito doesn't even have that. Eagle Dynamics own website states "Early Access is an option for you to play this module in an early state, but it will be incomplete with bugs" As this module retains the early access label then by EDs own definition, it is still in an early state and WILL be incomplete with bugs. In terms of defining "abandoned". This is more difficult to do however the standard at least on Steam is as follows: An early access release is considered abandoned when developers have not released a new update in 12 months or more. I've gone back 29 changelogs, 1 year. In that time only two additions or fixes have been made to the Mosquito. A warning horn has been fixed and a radio command to AI has been added. I haven't gone back further than 1 year as I gave up trying to find meaningful content being added to advance the module toward completion. Rudel, if you're satisfied with the module then wonderful for you. I'm not and it would appear others aren't either. I don't agree the thread is "dramatic" nor do I agree that expecting developers to complete modules is "unrealistic". Not only have there been no meaningful additions but repeated enquiries about ongoing development have gone unanswered. Providing feedback to developers is generally considered part and parcel of early access. The feedback appears to be, there's too much remaining in early access for too long with too little info as to why. Personally, I've stopped making early access purchases with ED as I no longer have confidence in it. I continue to check back and may make further purchases as modules are completed.5 points

I'll be honest I chucked an +1 in there to show that I still care and am looking forward to it, I am happy with what we have and any suggestion its done out of a sense of entitlement is a bit reductionary. I don't think I've seen a more polite group that own and support a DCS module maker! With that said it has been over 3 years now and we have bought the F1 based on a roadmap so its not unfair to ask for an update or insight into the progress of a properly modelled radar and the F1M itself. Aerges are professionals and I'm sure can appreciate the overall sentiment.5 points

And with the C-130, at least it's at a much slower pace than in a fighter So flying it solo shouldn't be too difficult, flying with a friend will be even better. I just imagine it'll be so nice to have a co-pilot do the cockpit items on our checklist while I am handflying the plane on approach, It will be a lot of fun4 points

In this thread, yes. On the forum in general: no I’ll clarify: when people post anywhere, and others can see a high counter of “community answers” underneath their name, that indicates that person is either helpful, knowledgeable, or both. Post-Release points: SPO15 - We saw discussion about SPO-15 RWR operations with onboard Radar, we gave elaborated explanation so far here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/379025-spo15-feedback/page/7/#findComment-5697327 We saw some questions about mobile RSBN/PRMG stations usage. And just a reminder we have a guide for it here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/378920-rsbnprmg-ground-units-usage-guide/ And Wags video on navigation and landing using RSBN/PRMG here: https://youtu.be/w4QTNLkMZEk AP oscillation problem is a priority for our FM team currently and we want to tackle it next. Some players reported difficulties with radar use, mainly due to incorrect mode selection. This update includes several radar fixes, and documentation will be improved to clarify proper usage. Check latest video from Wags for Ground Attack guide in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum: https://youtu.be/iUHbn9UcBeg Known issue: Currently the HELMET COOP mode usage sequence has a bug if RADAR state was OFF, before mode was activated. As a workaround to correctly Lock a target using the radar as the supporting sensor in Сooperative mode (COOP), the radar must be on (ILLUM-DUMMY-OFF switch must be in the DUMMY position) BEFORE activating the IRST modes (IR, CC, HELMET, OPT). For this mode you need to also switch IRST modes using the CW CCW switch movement and not use the keys 3, 4, 5, or 6. Activating IRST modes using the keys does not ensure target lock by the radar as an additional channel in Сooperative mode. We plan to correct that for the next update. DCS: F-16C Viper by Eagle Dynamics Fixed: Hot start left cheek pylon switch incorrect on hot start. Fixed: Crosshair and Point Track Box hidden during XR Processing. When i placed switch to reticle on the HUD, upon returning switch to normal daytime position, color becomes yellow. Identical to night mode, just brighter. Switching between day and night is not problem only when switch is placed to reticle position for the first time. And I did not find a way to fix/change after.3 points

I meant to be a little snarky, and maybe even a little self-deprecating as well, but it wasn't my intention to be an outright dick or make fun of you. My apologies for that. I thought only the French get offended when you don't speak their language? While I find it slightly inconvenient when I need a translator, I wasn't "offended" in any real sense of that word, nor did I view it as any breach of respect. I'm pretty sure the guy wasn't writing in Spanish to be a troll or piss anyone off, and he apologized for the inconvenience. It isn't a big deal, and everything is fine.3 points

I don't think this thread has been categorised correctly. DCS is a combat simulator, the emergency gear handle is essential for landings after limping home, I have lost a sortie to the failure of my hydraulics and lack of emergency gear. This is a core plane feature, not a wishlist item. Similarly the engine relight switches are not simulated currently which I hope will be fixed shortly.3 points

Hi all, Firstly regarding the device limitations and how the device handles launch warning. The detection of launch warnings is handled by the subsystem called "Type 10 forming system" on board 55. This system actually does two things. - It receives raw pulse train envelope as well as information from board 57 (threat program) about detection of type N (Nike-Hercules) in track mode, and tries to detect the pattern of coding pulses corresponding to guidance commands sent to the missile through the MTR. If detected, it sends a signal labelled "Type 10 impulse" which triggers the launch warning. - It processes raw pulse train to detect M/HPRF signals, as the regular PRI measurement circuit cannot process signals with PRF > 10kHz due to aliasing (the reference clock is 100kHz and the measurement procedure is suboptimal as it was not designed for M/HPRF signals, requires picking up the same PRI at least 3 times in a row). Keyword is detect not measure: it can only determine if PRF is lower than 26kHz and if it's higher than 50kHz. That means the ability of a production SPO-15LM to categorize the threat based on PRF is limited to 3 bins, 10-26kHz, 26-50kHz and above 50kHz. The threat program board (57) would require a major redesign to handle more PRF bins, rather than the typical modifications it was designed for to update the threat type assignments. The bins themselves could be modified by doing some rewiring, (100 and 200kHz for instance could be achieved) but that wouldn't change categorization of typical gen 4 fighter radars at all (these are above 200kHz in HPRF modes). See the excerpts from signal flow schematic (from Polish docs available at MUT in Warsaw where the documentation is declassified there). Board 55, specifically the specimen we've seen is dominated with discrete logic gates packed by 4s into ICs, with the remaining space filled by printed circuits. With that, in addition to the above board 55 implements a lot of binary logic including 2 bit memory for the elevation channel (and handling of that channel in general), synchronization of individual azimuth channels with sequential part of the processing, part of the PRI measurement logic for signals below 10 kHz PRF, etc. As for what would need to be done: to detect AMRAAM or PD variants of AIM-7, the whole board would likely need to be replaced with a new one, as it would require measuring frequencies that aren't multiplicities of the reference clock - it would require pretty much another copy of the entire PRI circuit from board 56, but using a different measurement procedure. It would be difficult to squeeze 2 more counters on this board (board 56 uses 8 bit counters built with 4 bit counter ICs, so that's what was originally available). For older SARH missiles that use CW illumination for guidance, it could be possible to rewire board 55 in a way that outputs simultaneous CW and pulsed detection as Type 10, effectively causing presence of type P to also trigger launch warning every single time (but with more false positives). This was not done originally because at the time the device was designed, the CW illuminators were typically controlled manually by the operator. And we do not currently have any evidence this was done. But this is the most realistic modification that could potentially be implemented as an option. As for systems that use CW exclusively absolutely nothing can be done - the device simply doesn't capture any information about the CW signals other than their presence and average amplitude. Changing this would require such a major redesign of the whole device that it would no longer be the LM variant. AIM-54 is likely similarly undetectable, likely due to parameter overlap making it indistinguishable from AWG-9 even with potential modifications, it is listed as a known threat in a lot of MiG-29 documentation but with no launch warning for it, it is simply thrown under "type F". Alternatively to the above, a separate board could be designed that would take any necessary inputs from around the device and then trigger launch warning by directly sending the signal to the threat priority circuit of board 59. We're talking fantasy modifications here however. The launch warning can also be by an external MLWS connected to SPO-15, but the MiG-29 doesn't have one - it's basically the same situation as above. Command signals are out of the question for most systems as even if they were powerful enough, they're way out of band. NH is special in that the command signal is encoded in MTR's tracking signal. Overall, there's not enough info to implement any of this, if docs were produced for an upgraded cartridge 55 it could be considered as an additional threat program option, but pilot anecdotes are not a viable source, especially since it could be explained away by proper training and interpretation of incoming signals. A TWS capable fighter suddenly producing a lock on usually means that either they're about to launch a Sparrow or an AMRAAM went active. The same is the case for most SAM tracking radars: in DCS in particular a lock by a SAM almost always means launch. As for the device itself, it absolutely is hardwired, all logic is implemented directly in hardware. As for synchronization with radar, SPO-15 features a synchronization circuit on board 51, but it was designed for older radars such Sapfir-23. The principle of operation is the same as in older SPO-10, the receivers are blocked in rhythm with own radar's pulses. It cannot handle CW or HPRF signals (which trigger CW circuits anyway, followed by them being disabled completely in all channels once HPRF is recognized), so if they are emitted the affected hemisphere is shut down completely. According to electrical schematics for the aircraft, the N019 produces a single signal wire, which is used to block forward hemisphere, so that SPO can be left on and at least the rear hemisphere remains usable. Radio equipment manual confirms this. Full synchronization would require additional signals, so even if Cartridge 51 was modernized it would also require additional changes to wiring and to radar itself. Additionally every single channel in forward hemisphere on both boards #54 would need to be modified, so only CW signals were blocked, which is not avoidable. Failure of this system would cause the device to be flooded by own radar, making it completely unusable with radar on. hope that helps clarify some points. thank you3 points

Here is a summary of the updates to the Mossie in 2024/2025 2024 July 12th Major update Mossie - FIXED: Tail wheel too sensitive (was across all WW2 Aircraft) December 5th - Major update Mossie - ADDED The radiomenu command “Bomb after me” forces the player's AI wingman to drop bombs right after the player. 2025 March 20th - Major update Mossie - Added RU localization for lessons. (It’s been done earlier, but not mentioned) I would say dev and bug fixing has all but stopped, out of 3 pages of bug reports only 3 are sitting as fixed People can make there own mind up as how fast bugs are being fixed and any additional early access items are being added.3 points

Since I had the super its pretty much just crashed straight away anytime I try to use it. I found that if I leave DFR off and just dial back the resolution it would sometimes be stable enough to get me though a few missions but its just a heavy G2 at that point I would usually get 60 to 70 fps. The last two times I tried to fly like this it crashed after 10 min and then a 2nd time after 25 min. The next day I turned on DFR globally I figured if it was going to crash it might as well look good. I got 70ish fps out of it using the "quality" preset and at least the center of the image was clear... It crashed 10 min later. Today I saw a patch had been released that mentioned something about vr fix or whatever... I figured I would try it for fun to see what It would do. It didn't seem relevant but whatever. I made no changes and was flying online like the last few times on a pretty busy server and was expecting not much to go my way. The first thing I noticed what fps was locked at 90 sitting on the carrier deck on TTI with 4 other jets starting up. Everything was smooth and all the constant spikes I would see on the frame time graph were gone. It was a smooth flat line with maybe a tiny spike once and a while like no more than 1 every 5 to 10 sec. I have not observed this before that I can recall. Took off and flew around for 30 min then landed pretty much locked to 90fps the entire time I might have seen an 80 for a second or two. This is the first time its ever worked this well or worked as expected based on feedback from other users. I have no Idea if its dumb luck and will never happen again or if the patch had something to do with it. I did open a support ticket before this flight haven't heard back from them yet. Im pretty excited that I finally got to experience what I was hoping was possible. Yeah it's as awesome as they say it is. Maybe just maybe it will work again... who knows.2 points

Hello ED Team, Three years ago, I reported that the P-51D Mustang pilot model was missing an oxygen mask, which at the time was accepted as a bug. I understand that recently it was mentioned that this issue would be considered more of a “model improvement” rather than a bug. To avoid further confusion for both sides, I would like to confirm: Is this issue still listed under the bug category, or has it been formally reclassified as an improvement? If it is now considered an improvement, is there a public record or tracker where the community can verify its current status? My only goal is to clarify the status of the report and avoid misunderstandings in the future. Thank you for your clarification.2 points
