  2. ... Amuse-bouche. A little surprise for you. This isn't just a video—it's the result of painstaking work recreating architectural heritage, transforming the map from a collection of landscapes into a living, breathing world of history. France under your wing!

  3. Hi fighters Today we invite you on a virtual tour of the streets of Paris, which we had the pleasure of creating for DCS: Normandy 2.0. These pieces of living history will make your flights over the French capital truly unique. Moulin Rouge A legendary cabaret, a symbol of Parisian nightlife and cancan. A striking landmark in the Pigalle district. You've seen it in films, heard it in songs, and now you can stop by during breaks between flights. Or maybe it's your mission target – during the war, performances were held here for German officers. Palis Garnier (Grand Opera) One of the most famous opera houses in the world. Its gigantic stage and underground lake inspired Gaston Leroux's novel "The Phantom of the Opera." During the war, its cellars housed works of art from the Louvre. Palis Galliera A neo-Renaissance palace, today home to the Fashion Museum of the City of Paris. Pont de Bercy A bridge reminiscent of a Roman aqueduct, built in the late 19th century. An important transportation link in Paris. Passerelle Léopold-Sédar-Senghor. An elegant pedestrian bridge over the Seine, a favorite place for strolls. Originally called the "Solferino Bridge." Père-Lachaise Crematorium on the grounds of the famous cemetery of the same name. It was the first crematorium built in France (1889). Its chimney, stylized as a bell tower, was a unique architectural feature. Stade olympique Yves-du-Manoir (also known as Colombes) is a rugby, track, and association football stadium in Colombes, near Paris. From the 1930s to the 1970s, it was one of the main stadiums in France.

Radar improvements include more stable STT extrapolation, refined close combat sensitivity, and adjustments to lock indication and missile launch logic. Numerous fixes address animations, repair logic, DTC issues, IFF on dedicated servers, autostop, INS alignment, and other cockpit elements. The manual has also been updated with corrected instrument details and missile-pair launch information. Here are some points we want to highlight: We saw discussion about SPO-15LM RWR operations with onboard Radar, we gave an elaborated explanation here. We saw some questions about mobile RSBN/PRMG stations usage. Please see the RSBN/PRMG guide for a deep explanation of its use. Autopilot oscillation is a priority, and it is being worked on. Some players reported difficulties with radar use, mainly due to incorrect mode selection. This update includes several radar fixes, and documentation will be improved to clarify proper usage. Check the latest video from Wags on Ground Attack. DCS Patch Development Progress We released a patch this week that addressed several important areas of DCS. In addition to an extensive list of MiG-29A Fulcrum improvements, the DCS Core was updated to include improvements to aircraft AI and weapons adjustments. The F-16C Viper, F/A-18C, and Mi-24P Hind also saw new additions and fixes. Please see the complete update changelog. Alongside these improvements, we are also pleased to announce the release of a new story-driven campaign for the F/A-18C and F-14: the DCS: F/A-18C & DCS: F-14 Iron Tide Campaign by Sandman Simulations. Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,

  5. It took a week to download the update and get the MiG installed but I finally have it. All I can say is "Wow!" Just had time to take her up for a quick circuit around Senaki. The takeoff handling is extremely smooth. And it's handling on landing was even better. With a bit less than the 60% fuel I took off at and 2 AAMs on the wings, she touched down at 260 km/hr, just as she should. Wonderful. Now I just need to find the time to learn this machine.

  7. Problem is 3 out of 4 Sparrows don't fall from rail to the ground in DCS like during Desert Storm. Either we get everything to factory spec or everything to how it behaved in the hands of military, but "everything for my friends, law for the rest" just doesn't work.

Post-Release points: SPO15 - We saw discussion about SPO-15 RWR operations with onboard Radar, we gave elaborated explanation so far here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/379025-spo15-feedback/page/7/#findComment-5697327 We saw some questions about mobile RSBN/PRMG stations usage. And just a reminder we have a guide for it here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/378920-rsbnprmg-ground-units-usage-guide/ And Wags video on navigation and landing using RSBN/PRMG here: https://youtu.be/w4QTNLkMZEk AP oscillation problem is a priority for our FM team currently and we want to tackle it next. Some players reported difficulties with radar use, mainly due to incorrect mode selection. This update includes several radar fixes, and documentation will be improved to clarify proper usage. Check latest video from Wags for Ground Attack guide in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum: https://youtu.be/iUHbn9UcBeg Known issue: Currently the HELMET COOP mode usage sequence has a bug if RADAR state was OFF, before mode was activated. As a workaround to correctly Lock a target using the radar as the supporting sensor in Сooperative mode (COOP), the radar must be on (ILLUM-DUMMY-OFF switch must be in the DUMMY position) BEFORE activating the IRST modes (IR, CC, HELMET, OPT). For this mode you need to also switch IRST modes using the CW CCW switch movement and not use the keys 3, 4, 5, or 6. Activating IRST modes using the keys does not ensure target lock by the radar as an additional channel in Сooperative mode. We plan to correct that for the next update. 12. My concern after the Enigma video is that the dynamic campaign is going to be nowhere close to expectations. It has been in the works for half a decade. People like me have invested thousands into modules under the pretense that this is all going somewhere. If the dynamic campaign does not launch with industry leading leading AI, full logistics support, support for all maps, SP + MP, support for all modules and eras, many robust updates and fixed to multiplayer, good performance, slick interface... I mean, what I just said is the basic 101 requirements. My fear is that this is "unrealistic" and people are going to be disappointed vs BMS, a free mod for a very old game. It sounds like there is just not serious investment into the game side of this. "Development takes time" I am ok with, I understand this is a niche. But ED needs to be transparent here. The dynamic campaign has been in works for longer than most games, including games by small indie studios. I think an expectation that DCS is "close" to become a masterfully, fully fledged combat flight sim GAME exists and is reasonable. But... recent releases have been comically underwhelming. Comical, if it weren't so frustrating. The Mission save feature, seriously? I understand this is an old engine and will be more complicated to implement, but people have been asking for saved games for what, close to a decade? And what do we get, a half baked save state feature that can barely handle any complexity or cockpit states that feels more like a hack? We have been waiting years, and I can't just save the game in a Reflected campaign at will, with ease, no fuss? Or the Quick Action Generator, which can't even match the free briefing room? None of this is confidence inspiring as to what we are getting with dynamic campaign. If the enigma video is to believed, we are going to end up with a half baked dynamic campaign that wouldn't live up to 2 years of dev time let alone 6+ years. I agree that ED needs to hire a game manager and have a team that is solely dedicated to the development of DCS as a GAME, where the engineering team can operate independently and produce full fidelity modules for the ecosystem. The irony is the DCS side probably WOULD be more profitable if they actually did this, but there is a chicken-egg dynamic here. If the game side actually got the attention it deserved it would open up a lot more interest in module sales.

  17. I would love such feature. Starting the mission outside of the aircraft and being able to do a walkaround would be super immersive. Also getting out of the pit after a mission to inspect the battle damage you've taken would be cool. Or maybe you walk to the runway to see your buddies land after a MP sortie... Would also gel well with the super carrier... Proper animations for climbing into (and out of) the cockpit would be icing on the cake, but even if it would just fade to/from black would be ok, if that would significantly simplify the development of such a feature...

  18. Just curious what you are talking about "white scratches on the sky"? There are 16 different cirrus cloud texture variations. Some of them are certainly thin and wispy just like some types of cirrus clouds are supposed to be. I'm wondering if there's something I need to fix for it to look that bad for you. Looks like "Broken Cumulus no rain 1" to me. That will be fixed in v2.1. I haven't seen any other presets with this issue but if anyone does find one please let me know so I can fix it.

  19. The DCS ecosystem is lacking some civilian aircraft. I suggest to add at least one of the following AC to cater to most scenarios A vintage airliner (f.e. wide-body trijet of some kind) A vintage business jet and/or regional airliner A modern-ish narrow body airliner (with liveries to cover ~1970-today) A modern-ish wide body airliner (preferably a 747, again with liveries covering ~1970-today) A modern-ish business jet and/or regional turboprop airliner (again with liveries to cover different eras) With a smart selection of types, even a few models can cover a lot of eras due to the very long careers of some aircraft. Some types could also appear in military versions, like a 747 "Air Force One". Thanks for considering this suggestion!

  23. NS430 doesn't exist IRL, what we have in DCS is a copy of Garmin 430. It's used in many civilian different aircraft, but it might not take the brunt of a fighter jet.

  25. Aircraft external lights being kinda "broken" for gameplay purposes has been a thing since the first version of DCS afaik. It's one of those very unfortunate things that hold the DCS night environment back by a lot despite being a relatively easy fix. I've made a lot of bug reports and wishlist entries about it already. Maybe upvvote, like, comment on it in order to get ED's attention. Despite the topic's headline it also covers AI aircraft light settings.

  26. This would be such a cool addition! I wanted to post this myself. The intensity of the vibrations, the shaking of instruments and tilting of mirrors, the muzzle flash (especially at low light) would definitely add to the experience. If ED thinks it's too much, or ruining the game experience, they could just add an option for it in the special options menu. Here are a few more videos independently showing the same effect. The tilting mirror seems to be the norm, not the exception. Notice how always the right mirror moves (probably the vibrations through the canopy frame are locally hitting its resonance frequency).

  27. Hi, Concerning the AI, It would be quite interesting that's they were able to perform simple BVR tactics like SKATE, SHORT SKATE and BANZAI with good use of CRANK, NOTCH and PUMP ou ABORT maneuvers. Maybe the tactics could be selectable using advanced option of waypoint or triggers?

  28. No, TAA is like worse version of DLAA and no machine learning is involved. Yes. I choose DLAA - dots visibility is not that much of a problem for me but I can't stand the shimmering of MSAA, or the fences and other jaggies. Don't even try none-AA - serious eyes injury risk - and you'll also want that performance with AA then. The ASW crap is the worst, not related to AA though.

  34. The skill in the F-16, F-18, and other more advanced planes isn't in the bombing itself, it's in bombing more heavily defended targets, in worse weather and/or at night, while still being able to keep SA on other threats or respond quickly to support calls. Doing all of that also takes skills, just different ones than the MiG-29 requires, in the same way that manual dive bombing in the MiG-15 or F-86 requires different skills in the opposite direction. For any generation of planes, there are easy missions, hard missions, and impossible missions. The next generation of planes makes easy missions trivial, hard missions easy, and impossible missions hard, and they have their own impossible missions which would be completely suicidal in earlier generations.

  35. I can’t remember when I last bought a module now. A bit late though, there’s not many I don’t have but anyway. I remember too well having an update just before Christmas, the proverbial tailwheel fiasco. I pissed and moaned for months about it along with others, a fair few of us were testing and giving feedback but it took forever to have it put right. I wish I’d have known how to roll it back to pre-update, anything to have it as it was. It wasn’t a lotta fun for a while. Thankfully it was sorted eventually. It could be argued that an accurate model of the Mos shouldn’t have any AI to manage radios etc, never mind fly by wire. The trouble with that is flying it on our own leaves a few things to be desired. It was promised in some form but the wind took that whisper with it I think? Personally, I fly it loads, mainly for pleasure, loading it up on a server now and then for some rocket and cookie shenanigans. It all works pretty well for me (ignoring my dodgy targeting) but it does need a bit of tinkering. The EA idea doesn’t really work for me, pretty early (in the real sense of the word) after release I thought it wouldn’t be long til we could, ya know, mark some targets like some of the Path Finder boys did in their Mossies but we just can’t have em somehow? I’d prolly pipe down if we got some though the novelty would soon wear off, or would it . Then it’s what about those wipers… Maybe ED should open up the doors a bit for the people that obviously have a passion and a talent for modding. A quick scan around the Modding threads and you’ll find Modders banging away for years on projects. Can’t they be brought into the fold somehow? Helped along a bit? Maybe I’m being naive but I’d have thought working with the people that are building bits specifically for DCS already, before they’re earning anything, would be of help to the whole community. Look at stuff like the Lancaster project, give those lads a few tips or tools and help them work and well all have Lancasters too. Then… we’re really gonna need those TIs . We’d have more being worked on, more releases maybe and I don’t think anyone’s out of order expecting modules to be completed and maintained. We need Maintenance Units for all modules , maybe eh?

I think the aircraft should remain as it was in real life, despite all the disadvantages it had, including the fact that information about it was in the hands of Western intelligence due to espionage activities carried out by Adolf Tolkachev. In my opinion, this aircraft should be simulated on servers that represent the era in which it was operational.

  40. Please consider making NPL pages fillable with mission editor and scrollable when pilot model is on. Same for wind calculator.

  41. If the module is done, they should take the early access tag away then and call it released. But the module isn't done. It is entirely reasonable to expect developers to continue to invest man-hours into modules labelled "early access". On 17 September 2021, BINEWY stated AI like petrovich "is planned for later on in early access". Four years, it's not even possible to ask the navigator to tune a navaid nor is it possible to switch to navigator position and have an AI pilot maintain level flight. These are barebones features of a multicrew aircraft, far below the standard of others in the game and yet the mosquito doesn't even have that. Eagle Dynamics own website states "Early Access is an option for you to play this module in an early state, but it will be incomplete with bugs" As this module retains the early access label then by EDs own definition, it is still in an early state and WILL be incomplete with bugs. In terms of defining "abandoned". This is more difficult to do however the standard at least on Steam is as follows: An early access release is considered abandoned when developers have not released a new update in 12 months or more. I've gone back 29 changelogs, 1 year. In that time only two additions or fixes have been made to the Mosquito. A warning horn has been fixed and a radio command to AI has been added. I haven't gone back further than 1 year as I gave up trying to find meaningful content being added to advance the module toward completion. Rudel, if you're satisfied with the module then wonderful for you. I'm not and it would appear others aren't either. I don't agree the thread is "dramatic" nor do I agree that expecting developers to complete modules is "unrealistic". Not only have there been no meaningful additions but repeated enquiries about ongoing development have gone unanswered. Providing feedback to developers is generally considered part and parcel of early access. The feedback appears to be, there's too much remaining in early access for too long with too little info as to why. Personally, I've stopped making early access purchases with ED as I no longer have confidence in it. I continue to check back and may make further purchases as modules are completed.

  42. Hey guys! I've been working on a set of Russian Cold War assets that will be added to the Russian pack. I hope you'll like them! They will all have LODs, different liveries and will fit perfectly with the Germany map and Cold War missions/scenarios. And since I have your attention, all donations no matter how small are welcome, all donations goes into getting better and better models for my assets. This is the preliminary list of assets: 2S1 SPG 2S3 SPG 9K35 Strela-10 SAM ASU-85 SPG BMD-2 IFV BMP-1 IFV BMP-1P IFV BTR-50PK APC MT-LB APC PT-76B LT T-72A MBT T-72B MBT ZSU-23-4 SPAAG

  43. Hi all, Firstly regarding the device limitations and how the device handles launch warning. The detection of launch warnings is handled by the subsystem called "Type 10 forming system" on board 55. This system actually does two things. - It receives raw pulse train envelope as well as information from board 57 (threat program) about detection of type N (Nike-Hercules) in track mode, and tries to detect the pattern of coding pulses corresponding to guidance commands sent to the missile through the MTR. If detected, it sends a signal labelled "Type 10 impulse" which triggers the launch warning. - It processes raw pulse train to detect M/HPRF signals, as the regular PRI measurement circuit cannot process signals with PRF > 10kHz due to aliasing (the reference clock is 100kHz and the measurement procedure is suboptimal as it was not designed for M/HPRF signals, requires picking up the same PRI at least 3 times in a row). Keyword is detect not measure: it can only determine if PRF is lower than 26kHz and if it's higher than 50kHz. That means the ability of a production SPO-15LM to categorize the threat based on PRF is limited to 3 bins, 10-26kHz, 26-50kHz and above 50kHz. The threat program board (57) would require a major redesign to handle more PRF bins, rather than the typical modifications it was designed for to update the threat type assignments. The bins themselves could be modified by doing some rewiring, (100 and 200kHz for instance could be achieved) but that wouldn't change categorization of typical gen 4 fighter radars at all (these are above 200kHz in HPRF modes). See the excerpts from signal flow schematic (from Polish docs available at MUT in Warsaw where the documentation is declassified there). Board 55, specifically the specimen we've seen is dominated with discrete logic gates packed by 4s into ICs, with the remaining space filled by printed circuits. With that, in addition to the above board 55 implements a lot of binary logic including 2 bit memory for the elevation channel (and handling of that channel in general), synchronization of individual azimuth channels with sequential part of the processing, part of the PRI measurement logic for signals below 10 kHz PRF, etc. As for what would need to be done: to detect AMRAAM or PD variants of AIM-7, the whole board would likely need to be replaced with a new one, as it would require measuring frequencies that aren't multiplicities of the reference clock - it would require pretty much another copy of the entire PRI circuit from board 56, but using a different measurement procedure. It would be difficult to squeeze 2 more counters on this board (board 56 uses 8 bit counters built with 4 bit counter ICs, so that's what was originally available). For older SARH missiles that use CW illumination for guidance, it could be possible to rewire board 55 in a way that outputs simultaneous CW and pulsed detection as Type 10, effectively causing presence of type P to also trigger launch warning every single time (but with more false positives). This was not done originally because at the time the device was designed, the CW illuminators were typically controlled manually by the operator. And we do not currently have any evidence this was done. But this is the most realistic modification that could potentially be implemented as an option. As for systems that use CW exclusively absolutely nothing can be done - the device simply doesn't capture any information about the CW signals other than their presence and average amplitude. Changing this would require such a major redesign of the whole device that it would no longer be the LM variant. AIM-54 is likely similarly undetectable, likely due to parameter overlap making it indistinguishable from AWG-9 even with potential modifications, it is listed as a known threat in a lot of MiG-29 documentation but with no launch warning for it, it is simply thrown under "type F". Alternatively to the above, a separate board could be designed that would take any necessary inputs from around the device and then trigger launch warning by directly sending the signal to the threat priority circuit of board 59. We're talking fantasy modifications here however. The launch warning can also be by an external MLWS connected to SPO-15, but the MiG-29 doesn't have one - it's basically the same situation as above. Command signals are out of the question for most systems as even if they were powerful enough, they're way out of band. NH is special in that the command signal is encoded in MTR's tracking signal. Overall, there's not enough info to implement any of this, if docs were produced for an upgraded cartridge 55 it could be considered as an additional threat program option, but pilot anecdotes are not a viable source, especially since it could be explained away by proper training and interpretation of incoming signals. A TWS capable fighter suddenly producing a lock on usually means that either they're about to launch a Sparrow or an AMRAAM went active. The same is the case for most SAM tracking radars: in DCS in particular a lock by a SAM almost always means launch. As for the device itself, it absolutely is hardwired, all logic is implemented directly in hardware. As for synchronization with radar, SPO-15 features a synchronization circuit on board 51, but it was designed for older radars such Sapfir-23. The principle of operation is the same as in older SPO-10, the receivers are blocked in rhythm with own radar's pulses. It cannot handle CW or HPRF signals (which trigger CW circuits anyway, followed by them being disabled completely in all channels once HPRF is recognized), so if they are emitted the affected hemisphere is shut down completely. According to electrical schematics for the aircraft, the N019 produces a single signal wire, which is used to block forward hemisphere, so that SPO can be left on and at least the rear hemisphere remains usable. Radio equipment manual confirms this. Full synchronization would require additional signals, so even if Cartridge 51 was modernized it would also require additional changes to wiring and to radar itself. Additionally every single channel in forward hemisphere on both boards #54 would need to be modified, so only CW signals were blocked, which is not avoidable. Failure of this system would cause the device to be flooded by own radar, making it completely unusable with radar on. hope that helps clarify some points. thank you

  44. I've been using DLAA for a while now, as it felt like it gave the nicest looking image quality (for me in VR). BUT I've now realised it's hiding the black dots of other A/C by blending them into the background or something. So I've gone back to MSAA 4x. This seems to fix the dots so I can actually see others in MP again, but now things are flickering and look pretty crap. What are other people using? Seems to suck that that whatever option I pick has massive disadvantages.....
