I'm more interested in the non-aircraft projects. I can't wait for next week's newsletter.

That's not even a valid sentence.

Can we get official and coherent response: Will A-10C and A-10C-2 coexist in the game?

What do you mean? Why would they not co-exist? Not everyone will buy the second version.

It'd be possible that legacy A-10C gets discontinued and at some point will only work with legacy builds of DCS World. I'd say it is even likely with the question being, if legacy A-10C will get decapitated immediately after A-10C 2 release, or maybe only several years later.

It would not make sense to have two models of the same module flying alongside, with one being less detailed. If "A-10C 2" is mostly a suite upgrade and legacy A-10C gets new exterior visuals as well, i can see them both being supported at the same time, but from the wording in the newletter it sounds, like a replacement, which i interpret as decapitation of legacy A-10C.

At a guess it'll be the carrier module and ground stuff..

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Likewise. Today's newsletter was full of great news, but I'm definitely way more interested in the roadmap for core simulation improvements. Looking forward to the update.

I doubt they would shut down the old modules if you don't buy the new when they are doing graphical updates to the old ones? Whats the point of upgrading the old if your going to shut it down? Whats the point of upgrading it at all if your trying to sell a new one? It's just a nice gesture from ED since the upgraded cockpits of the old one will cause some not to bother buying the new. Honestly this is exactly what we need. Product sustainment takes money and these discounted upgrades are what will pay for it.

They would not shut them down, they would be discontinued, so you could still play them on a legacy version of DCS (say a future 2.7), while the new modules would also be comaptible with DCS 3.0 and beyond...

I would not endorse that, but i think it would be a plausible path for ED to take. If it is handled well (fair pricing for legacy owners, maybe free upgrade for very recent buyers), i'd say it is fairplay, but it's very obviously a sensible topic and this thread is not the best place to discuss such things.

Either way, some clarification would be nice!

If you chose to not upgrade, then life with the A-10C will continue on as it is now. If you upgrade it will replace the old one, but of course, you can use it as the new version or old version based on your mission choices. As always, more info as we have it.

Ohhh ok. I get their question now. That make sense. Thanks for the clarification.

ok. thanks. this is good news.

But just to be clear: If i get the update and my buddy don't, he would see me with the old external visuals and i'd see him with the new improved external visuals, correct?

Or will everyone get the improved external model?

It'd be stupid, if there were different quality models coexisting alongside each other...

Doesn't that mean you'll have two versions rather than it replacing the old version? Or is it like the same module but some new features will be locked for non-owners of V3?

Anyway, as long as we're not losing it, fine. Didn't think we were, but the "Translator" said...

No, it will be 1 version, but I think the changes will be such that you can set it up as the older one if wanted.

Well, I know where all my discretionary income will be going now in 2020.... wow! Thanks, ED and partners, for an amazing year, and what looks to be an even more amazing one to come.

The Hind and the F15 are two of my favorite modern aircraft, so I'll be excited to see those mature over the next few years, for sure.

There is a line in the newsletter:

As with A-10C Warthog 2, Ka-50 Black Shark 3 will replace the current Ka-50 Black Shark 2, but existing owners of Ka-50 Black Shark 2 will get a significant discount for version 3.

I have nothing against paying for the new, more capable 2000s variant of Ka-50 but i would like to have also an older, current, 1990s variant for older scenarios and campaigns like Chechnya war.

cheers

I still don't quite get it but as long as nobody's losing anything.

Do we have any idea what the upgrade deal will be for owners of the V2 modules vs. those buying V3 new?

The A-10C stuff will be clearer once the feature list is finalized, as for the price, I have no info on that besides what is stated in the newsletter right now.
