Worrazen
Stoked about DCS: A-10C Warthog 2, awesome to see the whole set being taken care of and so happy it was possible to extend the deal with the A-10C people, even tho A-10C is not anywhere close to retirement and got upgrades, I guess the older versions aren't as sensetive, but whatever it is it doesn't matter now for my speculation, I genuinely rolled around my chair and had a moment when I saw the new Warthog announcement, just great! Modules: A-10C I/II, F/A-18C, Mig-21Bis, M-2000C, AJS-37, Spitfire LF Mk. IX, P-47, FC3, SC, CA, WW2AP, CE2. Terrains: NTTR, Normandy, Persian Gulf, Syria
Phantom88
"DCS: P-47D Thunderbolt Our next warbird for DCS World will be the P-47D Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt will be our first allied radial-engine warbird for DCS World, and it will fill in fun and interesting role in operations over western Europe and beyond. Combining both air-to-air and air-to-ground mission capability, it will provide a wealth of mission types, heavy armament, excellent protection, and long-range. The P-47D is far along in development with mostly flight model tuning, adding object details, and creating the mission content. Suit up! We plan to release a new World War II Europe map to coincide with the release of the P-47D." W O W.....This is HUGE!! Patrick

(Only 20% off in pre-sales then put on 50% off sale after less than 4 months, during most of which the module was unusable due to bugs. I'd rather not experience that again, and both planes are favorites of mine.)

pimp
That's not even a valid sentence. Can we get official and coherent response: Will A-10C and A-10C-2 coexist in the game? What do you mean? Why would they not co-exist? Not everyone will buy the second version. i9 9900k @5.1GHz NZXT Kraken |Asus ROG Strix Z390 E-Gaming | Samsung NVMe m.2 970 Evo 1TB | LPX 64GB DDR4 3200MHz EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra | Reverb G1 | HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Flight Pedals

twistking
What do you mean? Why would they not co-exist? Not everyone will buy the second version. It'd be possible that legacy A-10C gets discontinued and at some point will only work with legacy builds of DCS World. I'd say it is even likely with the question being, if legacy A-10C will get decapitated immediately after A-10C 2 release, or maybe only several years later. It would not make sense to have two models of the same module flying alongside, with one being less detailed. If "A-10C 2" is mostly a suite upgrade and legacy A-10C gets new exterior visuals as well, i can see them both being supported at the same time, but from the wording in the newletter it sounds, like a replacement, which i interpret as decapitation of legacy A-10C. At a guess it'll be the carrier module and ground stuff.. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Jester986
I doubt they would shut down the old modules if you don't buy the new when they are doing graphical updates to the old ones? Whats the point of upgrading the old if your going to shut it down? Whats the point of upgrading it at all if your trying to sell a new one? It's just a nice gesture from ED since the upgraded cockpits of the old one will cause some not to bother buying the new. Honestly this is exactly what we need. Product sustainment takes money and these discounted upgrades are what will pay for it.

Product sustainment takes money and these discounted upgrades are what will pay for it. They would not shut them down, they would be discontinued, so you could still play them on a legacy version of DCS (say a future 2.7), while the new modules would also be comaptible with DCS 3.0 and beyond... I would not endorse that, but i think it would be a plausible path for ED to take. If it is handled well (fair pricing for legacy owners, maybe free upgrade for very recent buyers), i'd say it is fairplay, but it's very obviously a sensible topic and this thread is not the best place to discuss such things. Either way, some clarification would be nice! Doesn't that mean you'll have two versions rather than it replacing the old version? Or is it like the same module but some new features will be locked for non-owners of V3? Anyway, as long as we're not losing it, fine. Didn't think we were, but the "Translator" said...

But just to be clear: If i get the update and my buddy don't, he would see me with the old external visuals and i'd see him with the new improved external visuals, correct? Or will everyone get the improved external model? It'd be stupid, if there were different quality models coexisting alongside each other... No, it will be 1 version, but I think the changes will be such that you can set it up as the older one if wanted.
