As the title asks, what's next...jet aircraft wise from ED? It seems that the jet crew could have time on their hands, so to speak, with the Hornet coming out of EA soon'ish.

"These are NOT 1 to 1 replicas of the real aircraft, there are countless compromises made on each of them" - Senior ED Member

Modules - Damn near all of them (no Christian Eagle or Yak)

System - Ryzen 9 7900X, 64Gig DDR5 RAM, RTX-4090, 3 32" monitors @1440, default settings of High (plus some)

Hopefully .... a Phantom, I’d kill to have one 🙏

ED has actually the F/A-18C Hornet Block 20, F-16CM Block 50 and Mi-24 Hind P on EA. By late 2021 I think the Hornet can be out of EA, but ED was post the roadmap of F-16CM and extend to 2022 as the Mi-24P. Meanwhile working on AH-64D Block 2 to late 2021, and a new aircraft? ED was plans to a F-4E (was put on fridge) and a AH-1 Cobra, but none has confirmed yet. Has rumors about a Mig-29A, none confirmed yet.

WW2 has other world apart with Mosquito FB.VI next to the corner and future WW2 aircrafts. Meanwhile, A-7 has on develop by FlyingIron Simulator 3rd party and others has own projects.

What now?  Time? Lol. That's a good one.

F-18 is heading there but still a lot to achieve, Viper? Well, that's plenty already. How about that sole guy borrowed coming back to Warthog?

Fulcrum will be next (once announced).

There is a lot to do. But, time? Lol.

From my side, I am still waiting more news regarding the implementation of Vulkan API.

We don't have so much info regarding this but beside the next possible modules it's probably the most important topic linked to the future of DCS !
If I remember well, it was planned for Q4 2021...

There is supposed to be an A-7 in the works. I believe it will be the E though I would love a twofer with the D included.

Vulkan is going to be awesome. It will introduce multi-core support which should improve stability and reduce CPU requirements.

Currently, DirectX already has multithreading support:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/samples/microsoft/directx-graphics-samples/d3d12-multithreading-sample-win32/

Sincerely, I dont have a high expectative about increased performance using Vulkan, here is a fairly good comparison between DirectX, OpenGL and Vulkan:

This is the only right answer. The thread, and most of the wishlist subforum, can be closed now. 😄

Right now DCS doesn't have multicore support but I believe it will be added with Vulkan and that is what would cause the increased preformance

Hopefully they'll finish the following:

 - Introducing Vulkan

 - "maybe" - FSX and/or DLSS support

 - Introducing the Apache and Mossie

 - Performance tuning for the Channel and Marianas maps

 - F18, F16, Hind, Yak etc

 - Supercarrier

 - New weather conditions and options (remember the intent to tune it)

 - Dynamic campaign

 - Rolling out the damage model across all aircraft

 - Further updates to the WW2 asset pack and similar

Lets face it, they have a LOT of work on their plate, before we even start talking about new modules.

That comparison is about DX12, DCS is DX11.

The first thing i expect for next is a substantial enhance in performance, due to Vulkan or Multithreading, i don´t mind

DirectX 11 also supports multithreading ... my point was that DCS adopting Vulkan by itself does not mean that the Sim will suddenly be able to support multithread.
