dburne Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Hey guys a quick update on my current situation. (have previously been putting this under the DCS Forum) I will also be posting this in the VR forum as I spend so much time in there. My apologies to Mods if you have to remove it I understand but my wish would be for it to stay. I have many virtual friends that frequent that forum. Cancer has now spread, was in hospital last three days. They did MRI yesterday; it is now in many places including my spine. Cancer originated in my left lung with a tumor, and also had in 5 nodes in lung). While scan did not cover my head, I suspect based on my inability to think clearly and do things that should be second nature I am pretty sure it is also in brain now. When time comes if you see I have not posted in a week or longer in VR forum - that is where I spend bulk of my time - have a virtual toast for me, I know I will be in heaven with my family that preceded me - so yeah have a virtual toast remember good ole Don (dburne). Love you guys, and being a part of this forum since the original stand alone Black Shark has been a huge blessing for me. Thank you gang, it has been a true honor and brought me great enjoyment you all virtually. May God Bless you all!! I will hang in and continue my posting for as long as I can. Warmest Regards and Love, Don B. Hawkeye60 Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 One thing I wish to add. As I was trying to help the Brother with cancer, My research found doctors in Poland were treating patients for cancer. But they were all losing weight from being sick from the Chemo. Could not keep food down. After trying everything, they gave them all Ice Cream. Plain Vanilla. Not only did the patients keep it down, they felt better overall! They began to give it three times a day. Theorizing the Endorphin's created from eating the ice cream had a positive effect upon the overall health. it helped My brother. Perhaps It may help you as well. 2 "Yeah, and though I work in the valley of Death, I will fear no Evil. For where there is one, there is always three. I'm in life sciences so I know. The problem is that those diseases are not created equal. COVID was a virus, and a rather primitive one at that. We know how to treat similar diseases, if COVID didn't happen, mRNA vaccines would've been introduced for other things a few years down the line. Sadly, cancer is way harder. We still don't know as much about it as we'd like to, and there's no fast tracking this research, despite "cancer moonshot" slogan that was going around at one point in the US politics. Well, turns out building a great big rocket and launching it at the moon is easier than finding a cancer cure that'd work, particularly in later stages. For one, we know that to go to the Moon, we need a rocket. For cancer, we're at the stage roughly equivalent of figuring out whether the thing that'll let us go to the moon have to move in the sea, on land or by air. We've been searching high and low, and came up with things from small molecule drugs to sticking the patient in front of a particle accelerator. Well, it does work in some cases, but it's not quite as reliable as a COVID vaccine, and there are some cancer types where we don't even know where to start. Heart diseases are similarly hard, and similarly, billions of dollars are going into it. Humanity's brightest minds are hard at work trying to find treatments that work better than what we have. Ultimately, if we want miracles to happen reliably, we have to make them ourselves. 2

We're not supposed to talk about religion too much, but I am a religious man and I will ask for a blessing for you and those around you. And I hope you find some peace of mind in the devotion of friendship and love you've had and still have around you, and that you have had for others.
