  1. I want to thank the moderators and testers who are giving away much of their free time on our behalf to be only occasionally commended but unfortunately also sometimes harassed, called names and asked to answer the same questions over and over and over again. The least we can do is make their job easier by reading and searching for previous posts that may be covering the same ground. We owe them our thanks and our courtesy for their endless patience. My head would have exploded twelve times by now at many of the posts I have read. Thanks guys and keep up the good work!   Out

  4. Hello all. I use a dual monitor setup along with Halios with a combined resolution of 1920X2130. I was just wondering how do you find the overall performance of BS2 when compared with the A-10C. With the above setup and resolution when playing A-10C i easily get 60FPS (i cap it at 40 tho) and it's pretty stable at that. However in BS2 im getting a maximum FPS of 40ish but it often drops down into the low 20's with a bit of action. I haven't had to much time to experiment with the settings yet to try and find the bottle neck. I was wondering have you noticed a difference in performance....even if you are only using a single monitor setup ?... For you information i have:- i5 2500k@4.7MHz. 8Gb RAM. ATI 5870 1Gb. OCZ Vertex 3 SSD. Regards Gunner....

  7. Eagle Dynamics - Apple (same battle) Hello All :) paid patch that does not have much time or compatibility with the A10 I can not believe ... A patch fee? Since when have we done paid a patch even if it brings some fixes ... Is not a new simulator but just a compatibility and improved graphics.

  8. Would love to know the perf difference with BS1 too. Running 6 screens config with Helios and BS1 and got 30 fps which is OK, but lower would be an issue.

  9. Viper, why are you so rude? You really do bite like a snake at everyone who dares to criticise Eagle Dynamics, even if it is constructive criticism. Your "SHUT UP OR **** OFF"-attitude is not very helpful in this discussion. Either you say something constructive or you should be at least quiet and polite. I really don't worry about these 20$, but I am worried about Eagles design decisions and really hope that the Warthog-engine is much more modular and they can now built upon it. Please don't screw it up, Eagle Dynamics, please don't. Modularise it, this time for real, add DLC stuff for more income. We are fans, we are mostly fine with giving you money, we just don't want only 1 monolithic sim every 3 or more years that's giving you another nightmare when you port the last "modules" to the next engine.

  10. Well said. My argument is mostly similar with one additional point. Much of what is included in BS2 is already present in WH or is part of the 1.1.1.0 WH changelog. The models, the textures, the gameworld is all the same. In my eyes, BS2 includes new cockpit effects and multplayer compatibility. Thats it. Everything else is already available in WH. I don't care about the 40$ for the standalone, considering thats what I bought it for initially. Its the 20$ for stuff I mostly already have (by owning WH) is what doesn't seem right.

  11. No offence to ED or anyone else, but even thought I don't think $20 is a lot for the upgrade you get (graphics mostly) I think I'll pass on this one for a few reasons: The way DCS modules are released is way more then estimated 9 months... by the time one is released and next one things get boring pretty quick as to be honest, both Ka-50 and A-10C are not what most would like to fly... because both aircraft are more suitable for coop type missions and with AI thinghs get very repetative very quick... I know ME is very advanced but really as much as that's its streangth it's a weakness too because not many people have time or will or brains (all or together) to keep making new missions... anyway, that's how I see it. I bought both Ka-50 and A-10C but I can't play them together and most people/friends I like to fly with don't like one or the other or both... it leaves me singled out and separates community slowly with each module... it separates the community also because between patches to make things compatible... well lets be honest... takes forever... it takes so long to make me forget how to fly one or the order aircraft (figuratively speaking) To me if things continue like this I'll be an old man before I get to fly some fighter and that I can play in online enviroment with others where we don't "fight" each other flying same aircraft. If Ed doesn't come up with new system/module for terrain only and others stuff that is now duplicated across all different releases this is very soon (something like by next DCS release) going to become impossible to update module by module. The idea of aircraft modules are great but unless this happens like in FS where new aircraft can be added to same base module... I don't see it as being a win... sure there are people very happy to fly this or that aircraft in DCS but for most, just one module on its own and waiting for months/years to get other modules to become complatible... well it's short lived to me. Anyway, ED will do what ED sees as best for them so really it doesn't matter what I think, but I just wanted to show my view on this as to be honest I am not thrilled by this unexpected news at all... over'n'out

  12. I have bought BS2 and I am downloading now but I feel like I need to voice my displeasure. This is not what DCS was supposed to be. The modules where supposed to be pieces that would fit together to form one sim with many aircraft. Thats what was advertised when the dcs brand was announced and when WH came out. What we have now is a mish mash that breaks up the community. Like others have asked, will we have BS3, WH2 when the next "module" come out? How about 2 modules down the road? 3,4,5? When I bought BS the first time I was supposed to be able to play online with people flying other planes in the future. So basicly DCS: BS should not even carry the DCS title anymore because it is not part of it. What I think should have been done when creating the "modules" was to work only on the aircraft themselves and leave graphical and ME upgrades alone. Once in a while release patches that dealt with upgrading graphics and the ME. That way we would have had more planes released by now. Sort of like Rise of Flight. It not about the money for me. Like I said, I purchased BS2 already because I like the Ka-50 and I want to support ED. But, the way they went about it was very bad, IMHO. Right now I feel like the DCS brand has basically been abandoned.

  13. +1 If the DCS is modular as it was supposed to have been, then ideally the amount of work needed to upgrade the Black Shark is limited to compatibility upgrades of the Ka-50 code (and its missions and campaigns) to align with the new features. When I look at the BS2 "feature" list, I see only DCS Warthog features so it feels more like a compatibility patch to bring the BS to the current DCS engine level. The FC2 was not part of the DCS so it made sense to pay for that, but DCS BS should be something else. Now, this was asked when the whole DCS thing started and IIRC it was clearly stated that there would be free compatibility patches to bring the common engine up to standard which was increased with the release of the new module if you don't want to purchase the new module. That was supposed to have been the whole point of the DCS - to have different modules interplaying together and only buying those that you want. If it was determined that this was not a good business concept, then this should have been clearly stated. I can understand that it makes little business sense to provide compatibility patches for free to people who don't want to buy the next module (though, I believe it was stated to be like this and they do exactly that with Strike Fighters series), but then at least the people buying the next module should get those "engine" patches for free. And this Black Shark 2 thing where (if I decide to buy it) you need to have the original Black Shark installed which is then not patched, but a completely different build is installed in addition AND completely separate from the Warthog installation brings all this talk of modular platforms in question. If so, fine, but is it too much to ask ED to come out and clearly state the planned business model of the DCS and how it will work out with future modules (will we have FC4, BS3, WH2 with the next module, each costing $20?). I hope we can at least uninstall the original BS installation after the BS2 is installed? Sorry if it was stated already..

  16. solution is in developers hands : just listen to user's community attempts, bugs feedback and so on... since 2008-2009 many people are still waiting about ED for BS... if developpers don't bring to users what they are asking for, don't be surprised or disapointed to see them "rude"... it is the client / market law... I think many frustrations are just expressed now, with this new patch, but are the sum of two years of developments and communications 'bugs'... perhaps two many time between beta release and final releases... perhaps too many bugs not enough quickly corrected, perhaps too many promisses not totally respected...

  18. I'm seriously impressed by all those comments on prices. 1. Because a DCS-Module compared to, let's say a Need for Speed title, is really cheap, regarding what you get. I'd happily pay 100$ for a DCS-Module and I am very happy it only costs 50-60$. 2. All you guys putting hundreds to thousands of dollars into your machine and additional toys (TIR, HOTAS, etc), really complain about paying such a small amount of money about once a year??? Come on... 3. If it doesn't meet your expectations just don't buy it, instead of complaining. Just have a look how constantly ED keeps improving their products without asking for money. A lot of the A-10C patches came with additional functions and features. Now there is one package that needs to be paid and everybody comes along like he's asked to pay those 20 bucks each month. Just my 2 cent... And as always: I'll buy it, even though I'll never fly it! Keep up the good work ED!

  21. ED isn't contractually obligated to sell games to people at a fixed price. At one point, it was said that it was "hoped" that they'd be able to make the two compatible within a reasonable timeframe. That doesn't equal a contract. Things happen. That analogy doesn't make any sense. They're the ones doing the work, they are entitled to set their pricing depending on the amount of work that was done. It never ceases to amaze me the intellectual leaps people will take to justify why they feel they're entitled to something for free.

  24. Hello. my initial test is not good: in the Instant Action mission I got a solid 60 fps (with Helios) in 1.02. I finally found out how to run BS2 with my two monitor setup and now get 24 fps. will try tweaking...

  25. I am surprised there is still debate over price after 57 pages. ED, may I ask when the project to start BS2 began? That may shed some light on the subject for those that are unhappy with the price point. Updates like this don't happen over night, and I am willing to bet it was a long process. Perhaps the sudden, stealthy release is causing the misconception that this was a simple undertaking. To those who are complaining: Patch, update, expansion, call it what you will but ED had to dedicate work-hours and personnel to get the product to market. If YOU were part of the team who has been working on this update since who knows how long, how would you feel if you didn't get paid? Edit: Another option for those who are unhappy, BS1 is still the same great product it always was. Just because BS2 was released does not subtract anything from BS1.

  27. I've read through 55 pages (yes, a do need a aspirin now. And yes, i'm bored at work) Call of duty DLC - 13,99€ (few maps and weaps added) Farm Simulator DLC 3 - 7,99€ (you get a new plow and some other 'hot' stuff) Starcraft 2 will release 'expansions' aka. DLC with two new singleplayer campaigns. I can bet my salury that they will cost 29,99€ each. WOW is 12€ish per month! 20$ is nothing for BS2, stop complaining please. If you don't like it, don't buy it, don't play it. And for the love of everything, stop making crap posts in this thread, make a whine thread instead.

  33. тогда вероятно нужно копать связку за рутером, на уровне VPN. общая идея такая - если получится протащить порт наружу, то больше симу для работы сервером по идее ничего не надо. правда, протащить нужно и TCP и UDP.

  37. Personally I don't mind the current schedule but what Kuky is right about is the fact that this kind of system just doesn't work. They must have a unified base package on which to build upon. This will very quickly become impossible for ED. They must be completely aware of it and that's what worries me here. They cannot but dump the compatibility idea between each module with current way of doing this... Each time a new module is released it will take more and more time to do the compatibility patch for previous ones and it's already been a long time since the Warthog has been released. :(

  40. If you've got enough money to buy a computer that can run DCS: Black Shark, then you have enough money to pay a measly TWENTY DOLLARS to support the hobby of flight simming. It's not like these games grow on trees. It's not like the ED team are our personal slave laborers entitled to pour thousands of man hours into compatibility patches for FREE, especially when they were never promised for free. Personally, I'm getting tired of hearing the complaints...

  41. Wow I can't wait to fly this new beauty! So many new exciting features that I'm definately ready to pay for it! +1 I've had doubts for long that this current module system won't last. It will become extremely complex to make compatibility patches for every single module. It's going to be a DCS: Nightmare for ED in the future. I'm really afraid that this system will become too heavy and they will stop making previous modules compatible and thus break the DCS world where all the DCS standard aircraft can fly in the same environment and create a complex and realistic battlefield simulation. It has to be something like the other simulation series to be actually modular. Right now the game is built around a single aircraft when all the aircraft should be built around a single simulation platform (hope that made sense).

  42. I was on the fence about buying BS. I've had A-10C for a few months and love it, and having BS working in the same environment has pretty much sealed the deal for me. I seriously can't believe how much bitching has gone on here. If you've spent the money on a system that can run this, it's petty to have a whinge at $20 for a patch. Hell, it's a bargain at five times the price. It's no wonder there are so few companies developing flight sims, we must be the most petty and childish market in the software world. The fact that such great support is available for a game published in 2008 is remarkable. Keep it up, guys. I'm very much looking forward to the compatibility patch.

  45. Current TARS changes being worked on (now that Black Shark 2 is out) include compatibility with BS2 and the very latest Teamspeak 3. Adjusting channel balance based on the transmitting radio was something I was thinking about doing for awhile. It would probably work best if I made this a customizable feature. That way people could turn it off if they wanted to. What does everyone think?
