сегодня должны "подвезти" (если получится с выпуском всё ОК) обновленную ФМ 64го... может и не понадобится кривые делать. Кроме того, на субмаксимальных скоростях требуются такие же тонкие движения РППУ, как и на висении, поэтому излишний отклик от движения РППУ будет сильно неудобен (имхо). Что поменялось - было выполнено глубокое изменение модели динамики: увеличен диапазон управления по крену и тангажу и одновременно повышена устойчивость вертолета на всех режимах, в том числе: o улучшена управляемость вертолета на малоскоростном пилотаже; o повышена устойчивость вертолета по крену на субмаксимальных скоростях; o улучшено поведение на переходных режимах (ввод/вывод из крена и тангажа) незначительно изменилось балансировочное положение вертолета и органов управления на висении и режимах горизонтального полета; FMC/SCAS выполнена настройка SCAS для измененной модели динамики полета; исправлены ошибки демпфирования в канале высоты SAS и автовыключения в режиме ALT-H по предельным значениям параметров силовой установки и условий вертикальной скорости (ранее не было автоотключения при достижении определенных условий). Принцип управления "только подумал - уже управляешь" - остаётся!)) Но вертолет более дружелюбен теперь (имхо конечно).. Но и это еще не всё))7 points

I hear you, but I can only update the patch status post when we are ready to patch, and as you can see today things changed at the last minute during final checks. We need to be flexible and I hope you can be to, the complexity of DCS makes development very dynamic and plans can and do change. thank you.6 points

The flight model changes are not deprioritized, they are complex and being worked on, but because something is most wanted doesn't mean its going to be able to be done any faster. The guys that do our PFMs are highly skilled and highly specialized, it isn't a matter of throwing more people at it or anything like that. The TGP changes with the Viper are purely based on available evidence. The TGP we are developing right now was once thought to be a LITENING POD, but after consultation and review of our available information, it turned out to be the LANTIRN. This means we have available information for the LANTIRN and not enough for the LITENING. So the current pod will eventually become the LANTIRN, a SNIPER will be done and if we find enough info, possibly a LITENING will return. I hope this clears up any confusion.6 points

Not in Caucasus, though. Just try landing a Huey near one, you'll see. It's not that pine or birch or whatever can't grow that big, but a random tree in an urban area looks like something that you'd normally find deep in an old growth forest, after it's been growing there for a hundred years or so. Most trees are a lot smaller than that, and don't tower over buildings unless it's Lombardy poplar, which doesn't look a whole lot like a pine. Trees in commercial pine forests don't typically have a chance to reach the same heights as the ones in DCS, either. If it was an occasional giant tree, OK, those things do exist, it's just that currently, every single one looks that way. That does throw the sense of scale off, not only the feeling of speed, but also of altitude. Lack of any smaller trees further contributes to the issue.5 points

I might make the RAN and RCN versions, since I have the bulk of the work already done. And the two versions adds a lot of different weaponry compared to the RN Type 26. I just tried it, and it works fine for me.5 points

The dark mode software you are talking about is the Oculus app that you download from Meta when installing the headset. Just follow the instructions with your headset. There really isn't much to do to get the headset installed and going. The one key thing is setting Oculus as the OpenXR runtime instead of Steam in the Oculus app settings. I advise you to not join the beta program. The last few releases have been very unreliable according to the feedback on the Meta forums and left some folk with unusable headsets or controllers, battery drain issues etc. ODT is the Oculus debug tool - part of the installation of the above. OTT - Oculus Tray Tool - search Google for it. It's not absolutely necessary and I don't use it anymore. A developer account is not necessary unless you want to try using your hands to control switches in the cockpit using the HTCC (hand-tracked cockpit clicking) that Fred Emmott wrote - GitHub - fredemmott/HTCC: Hand tracking for flight simulator cockpit clicking You first have to connect the headset to the desktop (PC) using the Oculus Link from within the headset, then you can launch DCS as usual from the PC. If you enable hand gestures in the headset all of the above can be done without the controllers bar launching from the desktop (you need a mouse for that). Walk before you can run. Just get it working first and then go from there. No need to use anything but the Oculus app and the headset to start with. Then you can venture into the ODT as you inevitably will.4 points

Before replying.... please don't take this too seriously! It's just a thought if ED team were looking for ideas for the next easter-egg/haloween/etc tweak/ silly gift - might be worth considering since we have the Persia Gulf and Syria (The further eastern area), plus Sinai and Australia coming - which I believe all have camels. The suggestion is for a camel UNIT (not a static object). One were paths could be set to have them walking around through the desert. It could give a bit more immersion (especially for the low flying helicopters) to come across either a caravan of these, or just wild ones out in the option - especially on those longer flights where there's not much but sand about. Consider it sort of a 'one upmanship' on the cows that we have - and I mean... who doesn't like the cows! (Couldn't hurt those cinematic videos either). As mentioned, please don't take this too seriously - I recognize there are far more important things that are needed in DCS, just throwing a random thought out there for a bit of a fun discussion.3 points

I really cant read through all that stuff any more. We dont need any pseudo scientific discussion here. Threre is given amount of time an F16 pilot has to withstand 9G. Otherwise he is not qualified to fly the F16, and is not in the cockpit any more. What is so complicated about the approach that if the DCS pilot cant stand the amount of time, a real pilot has to, then something is off. Take the DCS F16, make a g warmup, then speed up to 600 kts pull 9 Gs count the time until blackout. Take the measured time to an SME and ask if the DCS pilot would have been qualified for the F16. No need to prove that you can sustain 450 kts while the pilot is on the edge of conciousness, when the slightest tighter pull is about to knock him out.3 points

The Warbird sale ends this Sunday. I am not convinced that ED runs a release, this map or F15E, while any other promotion is running tied to another company’s release. BTW @OnReTech you all are amazing with your communication and consumer interactions. I would support your product just on those traits alone but how amazing your map is looking has me dreaming at night of new missions. Looking forward to its release; bravo.3 points

Yes, you do. Again, no. Human memory sucks, it is very perishable. And yes it's certainly possible to retain details but your blanket statement is incorrect - you simply don't know if one has or has not retained this memory. The hornet is irrelevant to this discussion. Yes, all those things and more affect g-tolerance (for example, has the pilot practiced or trained their AGSM recently?), and one of the important functions of the g-warmup is for the pilot to figure out how well he'll be performing. Citation needed. I would tend to give weight to real GLOC research instead and not one individual's account, who may well be very exceptional.3 points

Here is a knife edge flight without altitude loss: As can be clearly seen from the video, to maintain horizontal flight in knife edge at this alt/speed the pilot must create a beta angle of approximately 10 deg. I have tried in simulator the maneuver in similar alt/speed conditions. Pressing the rudder pedal fully, the beta angle that can be generated in no more than about 5 deg. The lift produced is insufficient and altitude is quickly lost.3 points

I understand. Don't take it as a rant, just a suggestion to better handle customer expectations. In fact maybe worth exploring giving a planned window a bit wider (eg. Next patch: "estimated week 15th-19th") but then putting this a bit earlier, not the same day it happens. This has one additional positive psychological effect, it generates the surprise factor of not knowing whether the patch will be Tuesday, Wednesday... which mean more healthy hype and more room for the devs when bugs appear. 33K unrestricted 34K restricted (ie no movlas, wind limits but I can't remember what they are etc) 39K if you flare And those limits are to avoid breaking things, which is something you'd want to avoid in a war aswell as in peacetime no? Surely a really great way to lose a war is to keep losing jets unnecessarily because of landing overweight, or over stressing the airframe etc.2 points

I'm more interested in whether it's a big one or another hotfix. Hotfixes are always nice, but big patches are sometimes worth waiting for with SP campaign missions and so on (or, conversely, a reason to do a mission that works fine right now, in case the patch doesn't breaks it).2 points

No, just because you believe it's 'obviously' wrong, doesn't doesn't mean it is. You're not the first and not the last to make such claims. So ok, you're still not getting it. This isn't evidence, this is one exceptional individual, maybe two, in exceptional condition doing AGSM training in a controlled environment. The only thing that matters is the GLOC studies. Not youtube videos, not individual accounts, but the studies that show what the average human capacity is in combat. The brain has enough exygen supply for about 4-5sec, depending on how high the g is. GLOC studies show GLOC at lower g than 9, in real fighters ... not centrifuges. Look up the STOHL curve, which DCS models. DCS also does not model the punishing effects on subsequent high g pulls if you overdo one and start to grey out (so, your g tolerance tanks) and yes you can be lights out at 7 g if you do things wrong. Just like that. As a civillian, some people will be lights out at 4g. Do not underestimate how insanely situational this is. It's based on the STOHL curve, which isn't outdated. Documentaries are meaningless - I'll say again, videos etc have very little worth if you're going to discuss realism. The Eurofighter is also an extreme aircraft. You're not going to hold 9gs in the viper like you will in a lightly loaded EF. Again, stop with the centrifuge videos...they're not relevant. They are training in controlled conditions, not combat. The pilot is well briefed, exercised, prepared etc. Yu cannot guarantee any of this in combat. We also don't know if they show an average pilot for the type or an exceptional individual. You can say though that pilots who can't handle the g will be rejected for a given aircraft. Is that maximum or sustained g? If it's maximum (instantaneous) then it sounds like there might be a problem.2 points

A little advice to improve missile 3d design. Now the missiles fired and spent fuel look like a mock-up - they have a plug on the back. In reality, there must be a hole. You can simulate a scorched hole, it will not be noticeable in the launcher and during the operation of the nozzle, but in terminal part of flight the missile will look better.2 points

Sadly had to drop the Josef Priller livery, since the 3d mesh around the exhaust has its UVW´s skewed too much, so that specific ornament found on Prillers D9 would end up all wonky.. I chose Black 5 of Stab/Jg.26 instead. Very interesting mottling. Reused the wings of a JG.301 dora, as it appears the pattern and colors were quite similar tellin by pictures.2 points

Don't bring data then, don't get any changes. It's literally that simple. Developers do a lot of complex work, yes, they can miss some stuff. If you want to bring it up, do it in a way that is difficult to question. The developers can't be going off checking stuff with every 'I don't feel this is right' comment, aerodynamics are tedious. Same thing with the g-loc thing ... there are studies for this, and air force standards. So say it's 'obvious' all you like, but you have nothing to show for it so ... it's obvious based on what exactly? If you find all of this tiring, maybe stop doing things that are tiring? Just be aware that the consequences of not backing up your feelings with solid facts is that your feelings are going to be very low on the 'let's check on this' priority list.2 points
