Dear all, It was jointly decided between RAZBAM and EDSA leadership that the F-15E required additional time to test and address bugs identified by EDSA internal testing/Closed Beta Testing (CBT). Whilst we had an internal milestone goal, it was just that, a goal and that was never a public/official release date to move. The Sinai map release has had nothing to do with this matter. We understand that many of you are very anxious to get your hands on it, particularly those that pre-ordered it. We and RAZBAM simply want to ensure that we deliver an F-15E that lives up to your high expectations. This truly will be the year of the F-15E, F-4E, Sinai map, and more. Kind regards, Wags24 points

But if that's the case, and I don't doubt that it's true, why allow the YouTube content creators to release videos left and right? And we're not talking about previews, these are tutorials, mission videos that would usually only come out after or just before a release. If there was an issue then cool, no problem but with the videos coming out daily, it looks to us like the content creators are doing just fine with it. Maybe that particular issue is more on RB but the point still stands. Combine that with statements from ED like "coming in hot," and "imminent," that a day later changes to "when we 100% know we'll tell you," I'm sure you can understand where people might get a little upset.10 points

People get upset if devs remain silent and don't show anything of their module in advance, so they start declaring a project as dead. People also get upset if devs show off their stuff without releasing the product ASAP, assuming it must be ready for release if there are videos of it. Whatever the devs do, for some people it's always wrong. Damned if you do, damned if you don't7 points

I think this is a DСS bug, I'll contact the beta testers immediately. Thanks, added to the bug list. Priority - highest7 points

@skypickle, one needs to realize that the real cyclic and pedals in the AH-64 have force gradients holding them in place when the force trim is not being pressed. Trying to hold the cyclic or pedals in a very precise position against the pressure of this force gradient is difficult, and over a period of time would become tiring, which is the entire reason for having the force trim release. I think many players, depending on their hardware, develop a false impression of how the force trim is used if their hardware isn't simulating this force gradient. I've seen many videos online of players flying the DCS AH-64D without using the force trim, with the force trim reference remaining at the original locations and never updating. I can infer that these players are using hardware that does not simulate the force gradient of the real AH-64 cyclic and pedals, or at the very least nowhere near the levels of resistance that exists in the real aircraft. If they did, it is highly unlikely those players would be playing for so long without pressing the force trim. As AlphaOneSix said, when the cyclic or pedals are moved, the force trim is almost always pressed at the onset of such movement. This practice is especially important when making large magnitude movements of the controls to avoid what is called "force trim overshoot". This occurs when the pilot has moved the controls a significant distance from their force trimmed state, and is applying pressure against the force gradient to hold the controls in place. When the force trim release is pressed, this force gradient is immediately removed, which may cause the pilot to inadvertently jerk the cyclic and pedals beyond the intended position when the resistance against the pilot's muscular tension is suddenly removed. This can cause the aircraft attitude to deviate in a somewhat violent manner, as would be the case any other time a sudden and aggressive input were applied to the flight controls. There are exceptions to this practice of course, in the case where the pilot intends to return the controls to the force trimmed state. The best example would be flying along a route at a constant airspeed and altitude, with the aircraft trimmed in straight and level flight. Without pressing the force trim, the pilot applies cyclic pressure against the force gradient to initiate a turn toward the next leg along the route. This cyclic input is applied and maintained against the force gradient throughout the turn, and then when the pilot intends to roll out on the intended heading, relaxes pressure on the cyclic and lets the force gradient return the cyclic back to the original location, which causes the aircraft to naturally return to the same straight and level flight condition prior to the turn. If one is properly using the force trim, SAS SATURATED should almost never occur. In real-life, about the only time this would happen is due to atmospheric changes such as sustained wind gusts that cause the aircraft SCAS to flight against unintended attitude or position changes.6 points

The Sinai Tourist Map Project Tourist Map V3.0 - 20240811 (some 100 new attractions!) The Sinai Map is chock full of beautiful sights (and sites) that I enjoy to explore at leisure. I have put together a map that maps out some of the many attractions that I found and want to see, and this map is exactly that: a map of tourist attractions, things that you, too, may want to see. CONSULT YOUR TOUR GUIDE! There's an interactive tour guide available that you can engage over Communications-->Other. The Tour Guide will list the five closest attractions to your current location (the labelled locations on the F-10 Map view) more importantly, guide you to the closest attraction by constantly giving you bearing, "clock directions" and distance. if you still can't find the attraction (some are difficult to find), the tour guide can even mark the location with blue smoke for you. Use the tour guide to make sure that you don't miss any of the great attractions that the great people over at OnReTech have put into this map. (Remember that attractions that are listed on the map in "Quotes" are at this point in time the real-world location of important land marks that do not (yet) have a representation on this map - but may at a later date.) For those of you who aren't afraid to curtail this mission in Mission Editor: You can easily place and position your favorite aircraft on the map Put them close to an attractions if you don't like the pre-selected slots that I'm providing with this map. Tour Guides won't mind, they work with any player aircraft at any location. You can change also time of day to get some better impressions. Sun up is around 05:50, sundown around 17:50 (5:50pm) Oh, and yes, there's civilian traffic on the Suez Canal, and in the air Change Log V3.0: some 120 new attractions all over the map (my thanks to ORT for providing me with the locations) V2.0: Civilian air traffic Tour Director (yeah) Sinai Tourist uses DML IMPORTANT: If you find an interesting or beautiful detail in this map, please post its location and perhaps name/description below, and I will try to include it into the tourist map as soon as possible. The current map has labels for the attractions that I have found. Some locations are in Quotes ("), like "Massada". This is for locations that I hope to find something there, when the talented people from @OnReTech get around to populate it with the appropriate models. The miz's time of day it 05:50, sunrise. You may want to change that for better local 'atmosphere' for the particular spot that you are interested in. Also, most aircraft across the map are the Gazelle (which since the release of the new flight model that coincided with Sinai's release has become a really nice model). You may want to add your own preferred aircraft close to the sight that you want to visit. Some examples that this map has marked: Some strangely triangular buildings More mirrors than you can shake a brush at: Someone suspiciously looking like Ahsoka playing in the sand at sundown Download: And here's the Tourist Map: (please click here) -- ED's User Files5 points

Good review, thanks. Feedback like this helps us make it better. I am preparing a roadmap, collecting all the information. I thought we would have only 3 phases in the project that we talked about initially, but I understand that 4 and 5 more are needed5 points

Fine, it comes out when it comes out. No complaints. But if they can refrain from any parades, festivals, or fireworks when it does release that would be nice. Because the hype is officially in the ground next to Jimmy Hoffa; once seen, kinda remembered, and never to be found again.4 points

I think people are more frustrated when there is no clarity or time frame. A quarterly dev blog or update would go a log way to show what progress is being made. Or even just a list of "To-Dos" before release with occasional updates so people can get a sense that things are wrapping up and its getting close. But every seems to be posting "soon" and "Finish touches" for months on end. With no frame of reference to what "soon" or "finishing touches" actually mean the community is going to develop different expectations. The ones on the forums are the ones who are getting tired of waiting and came to find an answer, the ones who dont comment are the ones who are ok with waiting a few months longer.4 points

You are right Massada will appear. Now I would single out 3 more monuments: Unknown Soldier Memorial Battle of Ismailia Memorial The Lighthouse of Port Said They are already included in the map and you can fly and see. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unknown_Soldier_Memorial_(Egypt) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Said_Lighthouse https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Ismailia#:~:text=The Battle of Ismailia Monument, allied with Egypt against Israel.4 points

Update June 11, 2023 - 1: TTI SP v2.4.5a Added new TTI Sinai SP Maps that include two variations - Cairo and Northern regions. Su-24M CAS variant now available as enemy AI in spawning pools and Zeus. Fixed an issue where friendly CAP reinforcements were not taking off on the proper airfield on some TTI SP Maps. Template AWACS unit re-named to ensure that F-14A/B datalink information is more clear which one is a template unit and is inactive. Fixed compatibility issues with the TTI SP Normandy - Normandy 2 is now fully working and compatible. Any and all new features above have been updated in detail in the TTI SP Tutorials and Guides Documentation https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/177ydPq1tJsOli7tKKKAuPxybfOw2yAo54 points

Exactly as you've described. The jet only has a single location for the CFT bombs. So if you have a mix of 38s and 82, the jet will only know it has all 82 or all 38 on the pylon.4 points

Yep, I know of it. I've helped them with the Iron Dome. They have implemented custom rockets which are defined as missiles, just like I did with the HIMARS. That is the go to workaround at the moment if you want to be able to intercept them.3 points

The flickering in the video below shows up very frequently while flying. Many times in the same mission. It makes this map annoying and unplayable. I shortened the video to one such encounter to fit it here. But it will go and come many, many times while flying a mission. I have all the other maps and I have never encountered this problem before. SinaiFlicker.mp4 Cairo.miz dcs_sinai_flicker.log SinaiFlashing.trk3 points

We've not abandonned it, but other IRL constraints have taken the priority over DCS development. We'll revisit the mod at some point in the future though, once we have the time. I don't use OVGME myself, so the mod's file structure wasn't designed with its use in mind. Sill, you can manually recreate the needed folder structure (username/saved games/DCS.openbeta/Mods/tech) and activate the mod via OVGME once it's done. Should be transparent. The S-300/400 pack expands on the HDSM, with some commonality between the two. If you're not interested in the older SAM systems of the HDSM (upgr. SA-2/3, etc) you can stick with the S-300/400 pack.3 points

I think part of the problem was Razbam saying in their discord that the delay was nothing to do with their module.... Which doesn't seem to tally with "It was jointly decided between RAZBAM and EDSA leadership that the F-15E required additional time to test and address bugs identified by EDSA internal testing/Closed Beta Testing (CBT)." Maybe it was a technical issue on the DCS side, so the two things together needed more time to bake..... Edit: this3 points

Please post photos of course. I already wrote that there is such an opportunity in the DCS, but I have not studied it yet. I think they are testing it in the Mariana Islands when you change the time and the map changes3 points

All I know is, I've seen up to 10 to 15 people(half of them I've never heard of) posting on YouTube flying the f15e module, saying its amazing, therefore it must work, therefore it must be up for release, just out with it and say it was delayed because whoever made the sinai map threw there toys out the pram because razbam was releasing when they wanted to release, and stop making up bs, I'm ex Infantry I can smell it a mile away3 points

Would have been nice if it was possible to treat the canal as a "road", same way as vehicles traveling on roads where the route snaps to the road. No way I am going to spend hours in the ME getting a handful vessels safely through the canal by tweaking waypoints over and over again.3 points

Ahoi, nice thread here - many people with different opinions - I like this! I bought Sinai and had some very cool hours yesterday there in my F-15C and my Viper. Sinai is a really beautiful and good performing map, especially in evenings or at night it's really cool. I also pre-ordered the Mudhen and i really can't wait for that release, since 1987 I'm in love with the F-15 ("F-15 Strike Eagle" on my Atari 800 XL from tape^^) I really think, that the Mudhen won't be disapointing at release. After all videos I saw on YT so far this must be really a great module.3 points

It's a limitation of the aircraft. Treat the CFT like a MER that only has 3 smart capable pylons3 points
-
This was done as combining munitions on the CFT is not possible. You can have up to 6 iron bombs (mk82, or less Mk84, CBUs, etc), 4 GBU-12 or less of 10, 3 IAM (JDAM, WCMD) or 2 AAM on each CFT.3 points

You can start by setting a curve of maybe 20, then using a y-saturation of 70 or 80. This will definitely reduce the overall performance envelope of the aircraft if you were to try and make aggressive maneuvers, but it will help you with the finesse needed for hovering and low-speed flying. Once you have a hang of hovering and landing with these settings, take the y-saturation back out a bit at a time over a few sessions until you are used to each step of the way. You will adapt at each step and train your muscle memory back to a 100 y-saturation level. I fly with a 20cm extension with a curve of 15, and extremely light springs with minimal center detent, and it still takes very minimal adjustments to the cyclic when hovering and landing.3 points

Sorry for delay answer @Japo32 Yes, as you noticed on the map there is a normal map - which is great for high altitude. The main problem was and remains to generate a more accurate mesh. But we can generate it with the improved heightmap that we managed to get. Now a mesh has been generated from the improved heightmap, but with a rather large edge and it is equally dense throughout the map, but already with it we got unevenness on the dunes, although with the standard heightmap we had just a plane. As I wrote earlier, this technology is used to work out some places at the moment and these places will be supplemented. These are static mesh that replace the main mesh, as seen in the screenshots you showed. Why can't we do this for the whole terrain? Because static meshes don't have a lod system like a standard terrain mesh does. That is, when I make a mountain section of an improved network and get 1M triangles - this 1M will be visible even in Cairo - although it is in Jordan. I'll show you a screenshot in which the improved mesh is built, it's a square of about 30 by 30 km and there are more triangles in it than in the entire territory of the entire map. And without lods, we get 1fps, because 100M triangles always fall into the frame. But there is a way out, it is necessary to modify the TDK a little so that these static pieces fall into the general mesh of the terrain. But the technology works and there are places in the shinai where this improved mesh is available. I will also add it to the place where Petra is located in Jordan and a couple more places in the future. I hope I explained it clearly, if you have any questions feel free to ask. Screenshots attached.2 points

Been testing Sinai in the Apache last two days. Having somewhat equal or sometimes better performance on Sinai map in the Apache while playing in VR - in comparison to Syria. The RAM usage is nearly the same amount. In my personal view, the terrain hills / mountains look more refined and better than in Syria map. Coast lines look more detailed and have some water waves like the Marianas. The variation in trees and bushes is very good. The amount of buildings around Cairo is just insane and runs pretty solid - even in VR. But there are also downsides: a lot of terrain types look copy / pasted and more generic (maybe this changes in the early access). The small details (around houses, roads between houses connecting each other) especially in citys are missing - this still looks better in the Syria map. And there are alot of spots that are not finished yet or look unfinished (around Bethlehem for example) - the border walls / fences have sometimes weird routes and could look unfinished. In the north of the map are known Syria spots missing (special city buldings in Haifa for example, the airport Ramat David is missing completely yet). Back to the good things: The night operations are next level on this map. It seems that Sinai uses the newest lighting technology we know from Persian Gulf. The Amount of little lights in the night is insane and breathtaking. Syria at night looks shallow in comparison. I don't know if self shadows comes with external lights - need to test this. The Heli-landing pads (these are also marked on the map) have it's own self illuminating lighting that cast light onto the aircraft as a separate light source. So pretty good stuff - I really hope they can refine the map more and more with time - Syria map also got several iterations to get to the current quality level it has today. In my case, I will fly alot more night operations on Sinai map with the Apache - the mood at night is pretty strong on this map. Also the FLIR-image (saturation etc.) looks pretty solid on this map. So, I am quite impressed with the launch of the map and happy with it - especially in combination with the Apache. Did expect a much worse technical experience.2 points

Thanks so much Parkerfly, those pictures are quite helpful. I may, or may not, decide to try to model something with the same mechanics. As I said, even if I don't those pictures will be very helpful. At the moment i am leaning towards a simple push-button switch which will let DCS know that the handle is now being pushed in. However, this may change. As I said, getting there. Determined to see this project through, although it may take some time.2 points
