Great news from Heatblur Simulations! "We're warming up your seat! The last miles are always the hardest, and the team is presently working night and day to get DCS: F-4E ready for launch. The Phantom has now been in development for just over two years, and we've been working incredibly hard to build not only the ultimate recreation of the Phantom, but a sustainable platform for Heatblur moving forward, starting with the launch of the F-4. Every rivet, screw, breaker, lamp, and otherwise will be accurately recreated in what we hope will be the ultimate simulation of the legendary Phantom. Our current focus is still on wrapping up some of the most complex and intricate systems coming to DCS: F-4E, such as Jester 2.0. Not only do we have to make sure that new features developed are great, polished and fun on day one; but since we'll be re-using a lot of our new technology in both past and future aircraft, we're treading thoughtfully. We've always tried to look for new ways to further DCS and our own products, and the Phantom will be no different. Elements like better in game learning or RPG-lite mechanics in JESTER are just some examples of where we've gone this time around. Our key priority however is ensuring that you have a great experience on launch day, with a rich and as close to feature complete experience as we can provide, and we'll be sparing no effort to get to the quality you all expect. We can't wait for you to fly the F-4. Stay tuned for more news, including F-4E, but also MSFS F-14 as well as updates to DCS: F-14, Viggen and other Heatblur elements shipping this year. We're somewhat quiet at the moment as we have our heads down and are working hard, but we hope to share much more soon. Thank you for all of the support, we couldn't do this without you all!" Hey Guys, Sorry for the comms blackout. I don’t like to overshare, but I understand the growing frustration out there with the lack of production, so I will overshare a bit here. Only waste the next few minutes of your life if you’re really bored, mad at me for not making more PointCTRLs, or are just curious how I started making these damn things. As many of you know, PointCTRL is not a business for me. Following an injury in Iraq, where I served on a SFODA, also known as “Green Berets”, and a few years of surgeries and rehab, the Army eventually sent me to the glue factory aka the “Permanently Disabled Retirement List”. I did my best to stay in the Army… (Insert your own Monty Python Black Knight meme here). My friend “Los”, who was my Team Sergeant/Mentor earlier in my SF career, encouraged me to try VR flying with him. So, we bought a bunch of hardware, built 2 systems, and fired up our newly released CV1s. I was immediately hooked on inserting and extracting troops with the Huey. But the crazy thing was, the very first time I took off my VR headset, I noticed something was wrong. I sat for a minute trying to figure out what the hell was going on with me and this feeling that I couldn’t identify. I remember I was about to call out to my wife because I thought VR had somehow broken my brain. It wasn’t until I stood up and felt the ever-present burning nerve pain and muscle spasms return that I realized what had happened. I remember like it was yesterday, me looking at the CV1 now sitting by my side and saying to no one in particular, “Holy <profanity>… that thing takes away all the fucking pain when you’re in it.” There I was for the next few months flying around this virtual world, in a half broken body full of titanium rods, screws, and bolts, in what felt like a new virtual body. Unfortunately as I became more accustomed to VR, the pain and discomfort slowly crept back in, but there was always some degree of escape from it. Like everyone else experiencing VR for the first time, I continued to physically reach for switches and knobs only to remind myself “Hey, you have to use the mouse, dumbass”. One day, my wife Carol, who was now accustomed to me seeing me in the corner of our dining room flying away in my own little world, tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Hey…stick out your hand.” I did as instructed, and I was rewarded with the feeling of a nice cold unsolicited beer in my hand. I am lucky to have a great supportive wife who always encourages me to fly more. After drinking a bit of it, I promptly placed the beer on the center console of the Huey, where it immediately dropped to the real-world floor, spilling beer all over it. After cleaning up the beer, I thought, “I can fix this.” So I found a low table the same height as the Huey’s center console, and placed it to my left. I went back into VR, touched the virtual center console and was rewarded with the feel of a hard object right where it should be. I yelled to Carol that I fixed the problem, I was again rewarded with another unsolicited cold beer, this time when I placed it on the Huey virtual console, it stayed. My simple mind was proud of itself, and the very next time I reached for a switch that I could not move, I thought, “ Hey I just made a place to put my real beer down in a virtual world, surely I can make something so I can just reach out and flip the virtual switches in my cockpit. So it started… Those that are familiar with SFODAs, the 18Bs or “Weapons Guys” are usually known as the knuckle draggers of the bunch. However, I always had an interest in all things mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronics, as well as computers when they started coming out in the early 80s. So I set about looking at different ways to make something I could wear on my finger, that would not interfere with my flight stick or throttle, and allow me to press a button or flip a switch. This is getting way too long, if anyone is interested, I will finish the development process another time. For now, I will just skip to the part you probably came here for. Important Part: Several months ago, I took down the PointCTRL shop and began relocating everything to another house my wife and I purchased so we could care for my elderly Mother. There was renovation involved, but not too much to get settled and start production again in a much larger dedicated space for PointCTRL. Not to have pity party here, I know I am luckier than many, but unfortunately the old injury that put me out of the Army had created other issues that were expected from the beginning. With treatment, things are slowly getting sorted, and I am getting somewhat more mobile with bursts of real productivity. I am working on getting the shop to a minimal functional state today. I hope to have the production crew running in the next few weeks. Well that’s it, no PointCTRLs because the shops not set up yet, I am old, we are still trying to sort the new house, and get the previous house sold. So yea, two weeks… MilesD8 points

Well, stealth is a very broad term. According to open sources the two missiles differs a lot in observability (where the Storm Shadow seem to have a much lower observability). I set the RCS in accordance with the information that is available. The calculations behind the numbers seem reasonable though. A major part of its ability to be undetected also comes from terrain masking through low altitude terrain following cruising.4 points

Someone recently said that art exists to evoke an emotional response - Heatblur does that consistently, literally felt a tear in my eye looking at those cockpit close ups! The modelling, the texture work, the feeling of a living working piece of machinery - just wow, wow wow. And that's just a 2D image! What's going to happen when we start seeing videos? Am I too far gone? Incredible!4 points

"next"? definitely. "immediately"? probably not. tbh though i'd pay for an EA version that essentially has as many functions as the f-15C i'd be happy with that but its unfortunately not going to happen3 points

Well, we'll probably never know for sure. But I only use publicly available information, and that's the data I have at this point. "The missile's mid-course guidance uses the inertial navigation system/ Global Positioning System (GPS) unit developed for the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) and Joint Stand-Off Weapon (JSOW) guided bombs, with either a high-level or low-level (down to about 1,600 ft) cruise altitude. The terminal phase sees the JASSM fly a steep dive onto the target using an imaging infrared (IIR) seeker before the WDU-42/B (J-1000) penetration and blast fragmentation warhead detonates."3 points

To further prove my point, here is another test. But at first, take into consideration that in a head on scenario, the ET will get LA at about 7 km on that Su-25. In this new test, the target is off boresight, but its heading is exactly the opposite of mine. So the heading difference is exactly the same 180° as in the case where I fly headon into the SU-25. What is different is only that the target is positioned off boresight, so we fly past each other. It means that I will view the target not from the front, but from a flanking aspect. This should increase my ET seeker range. But it doesn't. I get exactly the same ~7 km LA range. This is because DCS only substracts the directions of me and the target to get the aspect angle, instead of taking the effect of the off-boresight angle into consideration.

M version can use CCIP for all kind of bonbs not only drag bombs. CCRP also called AUTO consisted in a diamond similar to 2000C one where to designate the target. Both modes a available for all weapons integrated in the plane. Mission Computer was able perfectly to compute selected bomb ballistic.3 points

Actually, I got the subscription primarily to read that interview. My impression of what's being said and/or hinted at by Eagle is that they want to eventually get to a point where they do the underlying work once, and spread it across various products. So the same AI, the same maps, same weather environment, etc.3 points

Thanks, Neo, that's a beautiful shot of the Allure of the Seas. Hey Enoy, Type 23 is still a WIP. I have to recreate it. I will not release anything I wouldn't play with. DmanGIVE, I have no plans at the moment to create any Carriers. That's a big project for one person. If it did create one it would take months to create.3 points

Same Answer, The Systems are in Compiled and Protected Files, as they are part of a Licensed product. If you want to add weapons, you need to not only copy/paste the weapons code to the aircraft's LUA (which isn't "modding", it's simply pasting / adding). You have to Build the Systems, and include it via LUA System Hook. It's not impossible, everyone just wants to be able to Copy / Paste the loadout line to the Pylon data and have it work. If You want to Add a Weapon that's not part of the Avionics DLL, You have the script the interface and system for that weapon, and script the LUA to load an additional system during the Cockpit initialization. If there's no public data on the interface and system, then now you know why ED didn't include it. And Good Luck finding public data on AGM-154B Interface w/ Hornets, as it was never integrated, and never part of the tech manuals. It's the same for adding Fantasy Weapons (ie AIM-54C to the F-15C/E), the system in their OFP doesn't exist, nor does any public data on the interface, So if you expect to drop 1 line of code to add it to the loadout screen, and for the Cockpit systems to recognize it and automatically know how to transfer data fire and control said weapon, then that's not going to work. You guys are trying to Build a Bridge without building the support beams first. So Again, it's not a "Modding Problem", it's a "You want ED to do it for you" problem. I've Coded and Compiled Addon Systems for the F/A-18C to not only add weapons, but Pylons on top of the existing aircraft's and replace the SMS w/ a new SMS Screen. So it's not an impossible task. But if you goal is to addon 2020 Capabilities to a specific aircraft, I doubt you'd find the public data to code any of the systems or interfaces, Especially if your are trying to add 2020 capabilities to the Hornet, Eagle/Strike Eagle, Viper, or Apache.3 points

High Tacan SOF.trkThe BUG here is that running EPU should support most of vital avionics and hydraulics (engine off). Buses Lost: 1) Non-essential DC 2) Essential DC (This results in loss of power to fuel boost and transfer pumps, CARA, ECM, and FCR and power for normal weapon arming/release including selective jettison.) Equipment Lost while running EPU: (REFS-REFS) R) Radar Altimeter (CARA) R) Recce Pod (236) E) ECM (184) E) EW CMS F) FCR F) Fuel Pumps (Boost/Transfer) S) SMS Arm/Release Power S) S-J Now in DCS, giro is completely off, no FMP, no navigation, no TACAN, just speed, BARO altimeter and radios. Which is in contradiction of what we can see in two popular real life examples of Engine off landing we can found on Youtube. Another BUG with EPU: According to EMERGENCY MANUAL, running JFS is increasing used Hydrazine. 8nm, 40% w JFS (45% w/o) 4nm, 20% w JFS (25% w/o) In DCS now, it doesnt matter, after same amount of time, EPU used same amount of hydrazine, with or w/o JFS running. And one another: according to EMER PROC guides, REDUCING CONTROL SURFACE MOTIONS WILL REDUCE USAGE OF HYDRAZINE. - NOT IN DCS.2 points

Well, I guess this should teach me to close open code windows while working with Git. Yeah, that one crept in after I completed regression testing, I have no idea how. Doesn't matter, below please find updated script and demo mission (the existing demo mission in DML also works, it's part of the regression test set and does not exhibit the bug. The new one is updated to the newest 2.2.1 version of Recon) Thanks, @Sinclair_76 for alerting me, it should now all work fine. demo - recon mode - reloaded.miz cfxReconMode.lua2 points

It could be October too. This sentence is important too „The last miles are always the hardest, and the team is presently working night and day to get DCS: F-4E ready for launch”. Dont expect Kiowa this year, especially after what Wags said recently. Corsair I think yes, it could be this year but everythig is subject to change (tm).2 points

Like i said, matter only resolution vs screen size, if you have small monitor and high resolution it will have very small pixels. How many inches your monitor has ?? If you have typical size 3440x1440 screen which is 34.14 inch it renders pixel size 0.232mm in my case i have 3840x 2160 resolution and screen size is 47.6" which renders 0.275mm pixel which is bigger and easier too see. This mods probably changes initial size from 1 pixel to 2 pixels but this affect all res across, it will make easier to spot high res but it will make even more easier to spot at lower res.2 points

Hey, @tsuyopooh, stopGaps does support helicopters, but in single-player mode (and in multiplayer without the stopGapGUI server plug-in) some planes and helicopters react badly to any terrain that is not absolutely flat - it seems that the helicopters then drop form the highest point of that terrain piece to the ground, which can be very bad. To prevent this, use stop-gap's ability to suppress stopGap in single-player mode, or place them on flat surfaces (e.g. airfields). I feel that HTML is a really, really bad format to publish in; I write the documentation in MS Word, and exporting to (M)HTML is a mixed bag at best, export to PDF seems to be the best compromise for me: it preserves my layout, output files are reasonably small, and every computer can read PDF. There are applications that can readily extract text from PDF, so that may help you.2 points

Both Situations and the "Stinger" situation your describing is not asking ED to allow Modding, it's asking ED to integrate weapons into the aircraft that doesn't have them.2 points
