1. Wombat got Delta to host a visit for Wags to get sim time at the training center. 2. No F15C FF planned 3. Dynamic Campaign is being worked on 4. No E2, no P8, No Recon aircraft modules planned 5. Some DCS users/fans have sent classified info to ED to try and help further development. ED's stance is to shut down the effort and they don't want anything to do with it. 6. ED will not be attempting to develop 5th gen or any current frontline assets as they can't confirm systems operation 7. Roughly 170-180 people working for ED worldwide. 8. The F4E is gonna be pretty cool, with new module features not seen in DSC prior. 9. The P8 flyover of the football game did not impress anyone. 10. ED is working on a DTC function for FF modules. Gonky believes they should leave this out of a "Fun" sim title. 11. No planned flyable B17 12. No bombers planned 13. ED is still planning to make a full spherical world map. 14. C-130 is still work in progress, developer and ED are working on cargo system. 15. Chinook Logistics will come after aircraft completion, cargo system and dynamic campaign. 16. Development priorities for ED are centered on products and features that satisfy the largest DCS user demographics. 17. No Viper A, B or D planned 18. F-5E update question to WAGS reveals that there are secret plans for an F-5E update in the future and WAGS can't talk about it. 19. VULCAN API is a huge project and it's in the works. 2024 and beyond. 20. ED is currently working on WWII assets and more specifically for the Marianas map. Naval assets mentioned for WWII Naval Aviation. -----I might of missed a few points, but interesting listening. Had to walk away halfway through video.. ----- 21. Lots of talk about Aliens. Mostly doubt that the congressional hearing had any legitimate substance. WAGS feels we will find out soon enough that there is financial gain somewhere. 22. Why no F-18D? WAGS, says resources are elsewhere and now is not the right time to start the "D" when the "C" isn't finished. 23. User request for a kneeboard you can write on and is available in F10 mission planner. WAGS agrees it is a good idea. 24. User asks, why is the bomb frag damage so small? WAGS says they are actively working on a higher fidelity fragmentation bubble. 25. Wombat brought Gonky to an A-320 sim and Gonky kicked too much right rudder and freaked the sim out. More picking on Gonky. 26. User asks if current Maps will be merged into the Spherical map project. WAGS answered no, that the technology is the limiting factor. 27. User asks about small diameter bombs. WAGS answered if the aircraft would carry SDB's, then it's an option for the future if they can get the documentation to back it up. 28. No planned Japanese aircraft modules or assets for WWII period. 29. Talk about "Mass Effect", "Cyberpunk" and "StarField" 30. Another request for an F-35. WAGS, says absolutely not as there is no legitimate info available. 31. User asks about a Vairo Aero fix and WAGS says they don't have the headset and the company can't afford to buy every piece of hardware. 32. Somebody wants a "TurboCat" Module. Nobody knew what it was. 33. Question about the "AI Texture Controversy".. WAGS doesn't know what they are talking about.. 34. There are some "Century Series" fighters in the development pipeline. Had to walk away again.. with about 50 minutes left..15 points

I will shortly release version 1.1.0 of my Ka-52. For the tech-savvy users I've included an easter egg. In the entry.lua you can choose between the Ka-52 with non-trainable cannon and workaround landing gear and a version that will replace your old Ka-50 (not BS3) but will have all the bells and whistles like the realistic landing gear action and the trainable cannon. Consider it an interim option until we get good news from ED in regards to helicopter configuration limitations.8 points

20. ED is currently working on WWII assets and more specifically for the Marianas map. Naval assets mentioned for WWII Naval Aviation. 28. No planned Japanese aircraft modules or assets for WWII period. Mmmmmh, this is confusing. What's the point of working in a Marianas WWII map without anything Japanese? I understand no playable modules, but no assets whatsoever?. Is this map intended just for training and sightseeing?8 points

I weep for humanity. Seasons are determined by the Earth’s orbit around the sun. The Earth’s axis is tilted away from perpendicular to its orbital plane. When the northern pole is pointed at the sun, it is the summer solstice, the point when the sun is highest in the sky. It is also when the southern pole is pointed away and is winter solstice in the southern hemisphere. This occurs on June 21. This is the longest day in the northern hemisphere and the shortest in the southern. Summer begins in the northern and winter in the southern hemisphere. The northernmost line on the earth that the sun can be seen directly overhead on this day is the Tropic of Cancer, Three months later, neither pole is pointed at the sun. Day and night lengths are equal. This the Autumnal Equinox in the northern hemisphere, marking the beginning of Autumn. On December 22, the situation of six months prior is reversed. The Winter Solstice in the north marks the shortest day and beginning of winter. In the south, it is opposite, longest day and start of summer. Three months later, neither pole is pointed at the sun. Day and night lengths are equal. This the Vernal Equinox in the northern hemisphere, marking the beginning of Spring.6 points

With any aircraft we consider developing we have to think about return of investment and for some airframes it would be difficult to meet that return.6 points

We all have lots of things we want to see in DCS, ask anybody and they will give you different things they want to see. Lots of the requests are things we are already working on, however the reality is everything we do takes time, and we all need to be patient. thanks4 points

Nope, I didn't have them. Thanks for the suggestion. Great idea. Sure, you're welcome to add my units to the tool. In regards to the configuration info, I will have to look into that. That's great, thank you! These will also be included in the next release. We'll see. Unfortunately not since I make my textures in SP. And also, since I'm a one-man-operation I don't really have the time to provide these kind of features. Nice! As I mentioned a couple of days ago, the M1A2 works fine for me, together with my other assets. Send me your DCS log and I will take a look on what's going on. It works for me. I think you should update to the latest Openbeta, to rule that out. I fixed the US and Swedish infantry asset packs a couple of days ago. ED had changed the embark feature in 2.9. With my updated infantry packs it definitely work for me, tried embarking both helis and vehicles. I'm always on the latest OB version though.4 points

I disagree with this opinion. In case you have the whole world there wouldn't be much of a difference in terms of navigation and the flight simulation itself. I know many people who fly in DCS only for flying, aerobatics and exercises, and leave military operation far behind. Personally, I have no objection to flying C-130 or B-1B in DCS, especially if we get whole the earth (good that ED is starting to wake up to this). Big boys are welcome to DCS ! What is a complete misunderstanding for me is the lack of information or even denial about the development of AI. What does it mean that there will be no bombers or WWII pack for opponents? I don't understand this approach and I don't agree with it. It is the poor amount of AI that is the Achilles heel of DCS. What is flying like in World War II? There are still no iconic planes for each side, and now we learn that the Corsair or Hellcat will have no opponent? Is Japan going to be a black hole in history again in the simulator according the Team? Edit: what else I would like to add. Since there was a topic about the quality of the B-1B and B-52 or Viking as AI models and apparently we do not have the best LOD, the topic of a paid add-on came up. I have nothing against such ideas but not in terms of more accurate 3D shape of AI models. After all, why do I need it, since I don't fly them personally (flyable = yes, for sure!), but I will gladly pay for Air Asset, for example, with 15 different and new aircraft models of AIs for each side like Germans, Japanese, Americans or Russians. New models, for missions, campaigns, online co-op play, etc. But not for the better LOD of current models. That's really bad idea . More new AI is a good idea . What's more, I don't understand why we hear so many "no" in this interview about new models for AI. Pity.4 points

really dont understand the point " no bombers planned" assuming a Global theatre is in mind but, at least lets hope FULL aeronaval scope will be covered, and by the way, controllable ships implementation would be amazing4 points

Hier der Originaltext seines Discord-Servers: "After careful consideration, I have decided that I will no longer offer support for my tools via Discord and other public forums. This server is now defunct. It has been about 2 years since the first alpha release of what would become OpenXR Toolkit. It was followed by several other tools, each of them trying to push the boundaries of what users and developers can do through OpenXR. Unfortunately, I was never able to find the right balance between my day job, my personal life and my OpenXR developments. For 2 years now, I have had 3 jobs and on average 5 hours of sleep per night and little-to-no weekend time. I dropped all my other hobbies. This was the cost for me to pay to bring these tools to life. I tried to pace myself on many occasions - in vain - and today I am taking drastic steps before making irreparable damage to my physical and/or mental health. My tools will continue to be available for download and their documentation and source code will remain online and free for all. I will continue to write code in the areas of my choice and at a much-reduced pace (a couple to a handful of hours a week). Between the users' response observed in the last 2 years, the data collected on how performance and quality features can contribute to a better VR experience, the several articles, blog posts and other teaching material that I contributed to, and finally the freely usable source code available to all, there are many opportunities for developers to seize when building their games and VR applications. One developer alone cannot (could not) move the needle. This has to be a group effort and any developer reading this now shall have more tools in their toolbox and ideas to create their own success. Please do not send me friend requests or direct messages asking for support. I will decline them. To all the people who have supported me, whether it was contributing time, making a donation or simply writing a kind word, I thank you!"4 points

DCS currently can work with QuadViews, however it relies on a 3rd party app https://github.com/mbucchia/Quad-Views-Foveated The developer has stepped down from future support https://imgur.com/a/2mLPQSy At least one DCS update has broken it previously and required an update to the 3rd party tool. Could DCS possibly add support for it directly similar to how some games offer foveated rendering in their VR settings menus?3 points

I see @mbucchia has pulled the pin on continued support for OpenXR Toolkit, Quad Views Foveated, Varjo Foveated and other associated VR apps due to work life balance concerns. Completely understandable, but thanks for all the work you've done Matt. Having eye tracking is a significant quality of life improvement for this little community.3 points

Absolutely... The Eagle "c" is a classic jet that arguably has set the stage for Blue force air superiority since the 1970's. It has been the fighter that most 4th gen and every 5th gen aircraft has been compared against during early design conception. Personally I believe the 15C should have been one of the first FF modules.3 points

work on the F/A-18C and the F-16C has not stopped, they are both active projects and nearing the end of production. These projects take a lot of time, nothing will change that. Wags said they are not starting anything else while the projects are active, the teams continue to work on them.3 points

All other “definitions” are derived from the astronomical definition and are arbitrary. The astronomical seasons happen on the same day no matter what calendar one chooses to use while a calendar dependent definition has no validity outside that calendar.3 points

Yes, and renaming the original folder, instead of just deleting it, allows you to recover items that you may want to preserve ... for example, your DCS Logbook, which contains not only your rank and medals, but also the status of any Campaign that you may have on-going, or completed, is stored on the file logbook.lua, located at /Saved Games/DCS.openbeta.bak/MissionEditor/ Other items that are usually safe to recover from the old folder, are: Custom liveries, Custom Missions, and Screenshots.3 points

I know that this may not be in the right forum, but I know a lot of Members of the DCS Community come to CH site. I'm looking for someone who is willing to share Iran or Japan liveries with me. I'm also willing to share the custom Iran liveries I have. I have Iran liveries for the Super Carrier, an amazing Mi-24P skin, E-3A, E-2A, Su-34, SH-60B, Mig-31, and a number of others. I'm also looking for someone who could create an Iran Livery (MOD) AH-1G. Any help would be greatly appreciated. With Respect, and Thanks in Advance, Timex 33 points

Thank you, Please post any info from Bogey dope on this matter. Flying with landing gear extended near mach without any type of structural compromise or damage to system out of "there is no data" to me is just lazy. I am sure any type of digging or speaking to SME's will give evidence of something like a failed downlock actuator or something. Again I feel this is just lazy skipping around on systems and damage implementation, as there is so much more to be done on the damage systems model. Even if it doesn't damage the main gear, Gear doors should be permanently damaged and either display the damage or somehow inhibit or effect subsequent extension and retraction after a VLE speed is far past exceeded. Another Perfect test of the seeming invulnerable and unwavering rigidity of the landing gear is to side load in the extreme at high speed on the ground. You will slide sideways perfectly and never collapse or damage the mains while locked braking and remaining on the runway. There are several (not to be named) manuals and sources publicly available that mention "problems associated with landing gear collapse". Just figured this is also related to the damage model currently implemented with the landing gear system. Thanks @buceador we will be all interested in the reply.3 points

I don't build pits for specific aircraft, I build them for all aircraft (and possibly even aircraft in simulators that shall not be named). In fact, based on Zabuzard's screenshot the weapon select is 8 position, so I penciled in a 10 position switch and added 'RIPPLE' and 'SAFE' and can use that with the F5 as well. Also gives me the 13th position for delivery method. The 7 toggles used by the F5 for arm/jettison have been incorporated since v1, and also get used for F/A-18 jettison positions and will work with the F4. It's really pretty interesting how much overlap there is; Air Force and Navy have some different design philosophies, but even they overlap in some areas. But in the end you are correct. There are switches in there that may not even be needed; I don't even know what they're for. Good news is I'm waiting for 8 pin XH headers; they were supposed to ship from GB and never arrived, so now I'm waiting for replacements from China. By the time those get here and I'm actually ready to build the armament panel the F4 should be on the street, as it were. After this version (v3) making changes will be disgustingly easy. Unfortunately to get there I have to stop flying for a couple weeks...3 points

Four S-3B skins (one CAG, three low-viz) for VS-30 now available from the user files section. The skins represent VS-30 on their 2002 deployment with CVW-17 featuring accurate markings, bureau numbers and aircrew names (where available) for the four Vikings. This pack completes my CVW-17 OEF/med 2002 cruise collection. The rest of the airwing can also be found in the user files section. Enjoy! nullnull3 points

Since 2 years we have very bad looking night time cockpit in F-15C. There's ugly color banding on lighted areas. MFDs (VSD, PACS, TEWS) are very hard to read due to fat fonts and lines, all overbloomed. We can control HUD brightness at least but not cockpit lights or MFDs. Please fix or give us some control. There is this old report only for the night lighting but nothing was fixed since. F-15C night cockpit.trk2 points

First of all, I think DCS is a great product and the attention to detail is unparalleled, but in my opinion the weather system is one area where at least for me it is quite dated. I don't mean visuals (they're great) but the simulation of the air we fly in. I'll try to break it down: 1. Wind direction - it's too stable. Wind constantly changes IRL - perhaps use an arc and change frequency instead of a single direction? 2. Wind speed - just like above, give us the ability to set min/max and change frequency (freq could use the same value as above for simplicity's sake) 3. Wind gusts - adding them would bring a lot of realism to the game. They should use separate direction arc/strength/frequency. 4. Visibility/humidity - the current fog is in my opinion not enough. Some more options would bring a lot to the sim. 5. Vertical air movement (thermals/turbulences) - we have lots of desert maps in DCS, I'm sure all those cities should produce big thermals, especially at noon. Also things like forests or hillsides should produce up/down drafts. I'd like to point out I'm this is not the same as dynamic weather. All of the changes above could still use predefined, "static" weather presets, which could later be expanded to change over time. Also, I know that when flying at mach 1.5 at 30k ft none of this would matter but the "DCS experience" is much more than just that. Helis, warbirds, even some cold war jets would greatly benefit from those improvements and as for big jets - you still have to take-off or land sometimes. Not to mention the effect it would have on unguided weapons.2 points

Based on what happened when Xplane adopted Vulcan (maybe not a good comparison) but it only did the following... - brought more consistency to framerates (not necessarily more fps, but smoother fps - at least until xp12 came out lol) - created the basis for making further performance optimizations (this is a long road and one that only STARTS with implementing vulcan.) I would expect Vulcan to (at best) allow DCS to maintain current performance as they pursue more features (better flight models, better weather, more units active, more realism, etc...) Until then, at least we have Matt's great work to bridge the gap while hopefully ED decides to adopt at least some of the functionality natively.2 points

Hi @flag02004 I to have combined both HDS and S-300 and like you have sorted out the bugs etc to get both versions working together. My S-300OPS works though and i remember correctly i to had to alter the sensor lua entries and some naming paths to get a full list from both Mods that doesn't conflict with the DCS SAM S-300 (Grumble) in 2.9. Send me a DM if you want to compare. I do like your new liveries/textures as well. If @LetMePickThat and any of the other original Mod developers want to also send me a DM to see my changes and hopefully get this all back up and available for the community. i don't want to tread on anyone's toes but am happy to help where i can. Here are some picks of the Mission editor and working S-300PS2 points
