  1. Heatblur Simulation: GIBs assemble! Enjoy a few candid shots of the WSO's cockpit. There's nothing as fun as the rear, cozy cockpit of the F-4, with basically.. no forward visibility. Thanks McDonnell. Flying with a friend in VR? Beware of the vomit comet. The rear seat of the F-4 contains all of the controls and displays associated with the mighty APQ-120 radar. The WSO is also responsible for operating the Pave Spike TGP, as well as just being a general help and useful set of eyes for the pilot. You can of course fly the F-4 from the rear seat too; and WSOs would often fly the aircraft, and even assist rolling onto e.g. a bandit during a dogfight. Multicrew synchronization in our new next generation framework has been a key design goal of the last few years, and we're working hard to ensure all systems, instruments and the radar are well synchronized between both crew members in multiplayer. Just like the pilots' cockpit, we've tried to push as much detail in sculpting and texturing as our time and budget allows, and we hope you'll enjoy experiencing the F-4 from the back.

  5. Dear Simmers. There is always a way to convince the enemy that he is evil. One of them is to convince the enemy with HOTs and one way is to curse at the enemy. Another way, if everything fails, is to convince him with lead. That's why we have a G36 - this is planed. I know that the Magazine is transparent....but the renderer thinks it's not We also plan to share some inflight Video in the next months.

The Kiowa Warrior is a versatile aircraft that is well-suited to locating enemy forces that can then be passed to other forces to engage. The OH-58D also packs a punch with an assortment of weapons. It will find a great home flying along the AH-64D and the upcoming CH-47F Chinook in DCS. While the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior thrives in the reconnaissance role, making full use of its iconic Mast Mounted Sight (MMS). In more recent conflicts, it’s played a pivotal role in both gathering critical intelligence and supporting ground troops with precision fires on enemy positions. Armed with an array of weapons that include laser-guided Hellfire missiles, a .50 caliber M3P machine gun, Stinger air-to-air missiles, and a large selection of unguided and guided rocket types like the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS), we’re certain that DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior pilots will find it thrilling to roll in hot on targets. Please check out the Development Screenshots. Pimax Crystal Promotional advert Experience Virtual Reality in DCS like never before with the Pimax Crystal VR headset. Delivering an incredibly high 5760 x 2880 pixels with a host of performance-enhancing features like foveated rendering, the Pimax Crystal promises market-leading clarity and convenience for the ‘ultimate’ life-like simulation. The Pimax Crystal is an outstanding choice for DCS providing crisp and clear displays for visually tracking targets whilst providing excellent performance. Key Features: Inside-out tracking means there’s no need to buy or manage base stations. Glass aspheric lenses, QLED panels, and local dimming create vivid colors with realistic contrasts. 2880 x 2880 native resolution (per eye, even at 120Hz), delivers incredible clarity. Eye tracking means the Crystal is Quad Views capable, allowing it to perform with exceptional GPU efficiency. An Introduction To Quad Views Eye-tracking within the Crystal enables the use of Quad Views, a form of Dynamic Foveated Rendering that uses the position of the user's gaze to render in full resolution only the area the user is looking at. Areas outside the user gaze are rendered to a lower resolution, which results in DCS VR performance gains of up to +50% FPS. Watch the video above for a demonstration. Learn more about Quad Views for Pimax here. Available Now: Follow this link and use code DCS2024 during checkout to purchase your Pimax Crystal with a $100 USD discount, available until March 15th. 8. I see that ED is endorsing the Pimax Crystal now, so I feel that I need to drop a warning here about Pimax's business practice. Last summer I brought a Crystal which did not function according to specifications (battery lasted only for 2 hours playtime even with power cable connected). After some back and forth, Pimax has ultimately acknowledged the defect and agreed to my demand for a refund. What followed is a half-year odyssey of Pimax resisting to accept my return shipments of the Crystal, with shipments not being picked up by Pimax and getting returned to me. They say they will not refund me until they get the Crystal back, at the same time not actually taking the Crystal back. After half a year, this is still ongoing. For anyone considering doing business with Pimax, especially with this endorsement by ED, I encourage you to consider these business practices.

  12. Here is a quick and dirty vid on how the spars can be damaged and later cause wing loss under more pressure. Pay attention to the bars on the right, these are "health bars" for the spars. (Sorry no this cannot be activated in the release version) This shows how damage to the spars is not on/off. And that it can impact flight even after being hit. Yeah, I am not saying it's impossible, but it wouldn't be nearly as clean as we see currently in DCS. And it is doubtful it would happen from the rear like we are shooting most times. WHat I have requested is that before the tail is blown off you would more likely see all the tail surfaces removed, elevators, stabs, etc. And be left with a nub on the tail, it ends up giving the same results and knocking the tail off and looks so much better.

  13. Version 2.01- 20250502 Helicopter Rescue and Fire Fighting Sandbox Download: here You are an "Angel", a member of the world's elite Air Rescue organization. Your task is to help fight fires and evacuate injured people from all over Batumi and the alpine regions around mount Elbrus. Once rescued, return them to the nearest Hospital. It's summertime. Batumi is big and as populous as it is popular, and the heat has turned the environment into a tinderbox. It also can take its toll on many, leading them to questionable decisions; also in summertime, adventurous souls heed the call of the mountains, making them climb where they should better not have treaded. In short, there will always be more people requiring your assistance than you can provide - so bring a friend or two if you can: this mission is fully multiplayer capable, and keeps track of your accomplishments, even between mission restarts. There are many slots available (hot and cold) for Hueys, Hips, Gazelles, Hinds, Chinooks and Kiowas), allowing pilots simultaneously in Batumi and the alpine operations center near Elbrus. [There's also one slot each for the Apache and Black Shark in Batumi, but those helicopters can't fight fires nor perform SAR] SAR You perform SARs by flying towards the evacuee (they all have locator devices for your ADF). Pearly Gates, your Command Authority can vector you towards your target. Once you get within 1km, help on the ground will mark the spot with smoke, and you'll be guided by your chief for the last 100m. Land close enough to pick up the evacuee. If landing is not possible (rescue over open water, steep or inaccessible ground or forest in the mountains), you can attempt a winch rescue which requires you to hover within range and altitude for some 20 seconds. Once the evacuee is on board, you are to return them to the nearest hospital. Batumi Field Hospital is located at Batumi airfield, while the Elbrus alpine evacuation center is located in Elbrus, some 5 km northwest of the Alpine Flight Center. Both hospitals are marked with red smoke. On approach to Batumi, please be mindful of other traffic, both fixed-wing and - possibly - other Angels. When operating in the mountains, keep and eye on your dials. Up there, the air is rare, and won't carry as much weight as you expect. At over 5600m (18000ft) height, the twin peaks of mount Elbrus are no laughing matter, so take only as much fuel as you think you need. FIRE FIGHTING Only the following helicopters are fitted with tanks to fight fires: - Huey (1200kg) - Hip (4000kg) - Hind (2400kg) - Hook (9000kg) - Kiowa (500kg) To fight fires, you first top off your tanks with flame retardant (from Batumi's tarmac, Batumi evac zone, marked with red smoke) or water (from a lake/river), and then drop it into the blaze. Topping off your tanks: When inside a refill zone, go to communications - Other - Firefighting and choose "Activate Intake" to fill up your flame-retardant tanks. Filling your tanks is instantaneous. When hovering over open water (lake/river), and at 10m AGL or less: go to communications - Other - Firefighting and choose "Activate Intake" to fill up your flame-retardant tanks. You’ll hear your intake pumps activate, and your chief starts giving you live updates. Your pumps can acquire 100 liters (kg) of water per second, so keep this in mind while hovering. Filling up the Huey (1200l) takes 12 seconds, while topping off the Hook at that rate takes 90 seconds. Once your tanks are topped off, your intake pumps disengage automatically Dropping Flame Retardant / Water into fire: Note: currently, there is no difference in efficacy between water and flame retardant (this may change in later versions) Move towards a fire cell and prepare to drop water. You can choose between two different methods: MANUAL: choose Comms - Other - Firefighting and sel ect "Manual Release". This empties the contents of your tanks at 1000kg/sec until they are empty. The impact point is derived fr om your current speed and direction. While the tanks are emptied, you can hear the turbo-pumps pushing out the liquids. I recommend that you bind the F2 key for manual release using some appropriate software for greater precision. ALT-triggered: Go above 300 m AGL (900 ft), and then Comms-->Other-->Firefighting and choosing "Arm Autodrop Trigger". An aural soft tone blips once per second to remind you that the altitude trigger is armed. Once your altitude gets below 100m AGL (328ft), that triggers release. Note: Altitude-triggered release is more difficult, and intended for advanced pilots who can judge their approach. Once release has started, it ends after the entire contents has been emptied. The drop pumps are rated at 1000kg/sec, meaning that the Huey (1200l capacity) is empty after 1.2 seconds, while the Hook (9000l) has 9 seconds of water/retardant, and can therefore cover larger areas. After you successfully drop water/flame retardant into a cell, the amount of fuel left in that cell is reduced. Once all fuel in the cell is consumed, that fire cell dies out, and can't re-ignite. Dropping water around a burning cell can prevent the fire from spreading in that direction. If you succeed in extinguishing all fire cells in a blaze, all pilots that have successfully contributed to fighting that fire are awarded an number of points based on the size of the conflagration. You can always query your status from HighPerch. Initially, your Rank is "Probie", and that rank increases with the number and size of fires that you help to put out. Note: Refueling Keep in mind that in order to carry more flame retardant, your helicopter is only fueled to 50%. Keep an eye on your fuel gauge, and when you return to the airfield to refuel, do not top off your gas tanks. Fill them to 50% to avoid falling out of the sky. Other notes: On Servers (and only on servers), install stopGapGUI (a tiny script) into /Hooks to avoid people crashing their helicopters on slotting. StopGap is here: StopGap - visible, populated player slots [all player aircraft, single/multiplayer] (digitalcombatsimulator.com) If run on a server, this mission auto-restarts every 8 hours. It's an endless SAR sandbox mission If you also have some of the other "Angels" missions (e.g. "Angels of the Levant") and persistence is enabled, the missions share all player's accomplishments. This mission can persist all your accomplishments (landings, time, rescues) per airframe if you have persistence enabled (this requires that your DCS is 'de-sanitized'). Acknowledgements PearlyGates and HighPerch performed by ElevenLabs Created with DML Features 20+ Players, supporting the Hind, Huey, Hip, Hook, Kiowa and Gazelle rescue missions inside Batumi city proper, forest, over water (Batumi Harbor and bay) rescue missions in the Mount Elbrus alpine regions Fire-Fighting missions on the outskirts of Batumi Dynamic Airfield Scenery (provided by stopGap) Persistent accomplishments "St. Peter's" Choir - persistent list of most heroic angels "Book of Ambers" recalls the most exalted fire fighters Civilian air traffic (fixed and rotary wing) Endless sandbox Shares accomplishments with other "Angels" missions "dynamic scenery" for evacuees Fog on demand (player controlled)

  15. Tod und Merkel! @Gladius und @MoeZ: Ihr habt Recht! Das erklärt auch die späte Reaktion. Da bin ich ja völlig grundlos in ungerechtfertigten Zorn verfallen! Daher also meine aufrichtige Entschuldigung an dich, Herr MoeZ.

  16. We have this kind of problem for many bindings of that kind; not just trimming, and for a significant number of aircraft. In many cases that can be fixed by changing the GAIN in "clickabledata.lua" or the VALUE_DOWN in "default.lua". But these changes are not a "one size fits all", because the best values are vastly different depending on whether you want to use a pair of pushbuttons or a rotary encoder. The best solution from a user point of view would be to provide a "Tune" option for all bindings of this kind in Options/Controls. I do realize that this might require a lot of rework in the software.

  18. I always know where I am, however, I'm not always certain where the rest of the world is located in relation to me. Especially when flying a Warbird in the weather. TBH, I never was particularly good at DR, I prefer to use landmarks where possible, which is why NTTR is a little annoying, being a desert with a few rather indistinct mountains. That said, I can use it well enough to at least get me to where I should see a landmark from.

  19. I'm with GJS. If all you are doing is madly typing in coordinates and flying following a line, then you're missing all of the fun. That's why I'm so looking forward to the Phantom, it's going to go a long way towards weaning people off of the crutches, and perhaps, changing their mindset into one of a real world pilot. You can't count on the automation or the INS or even the TACAN. The dirty little secret that you are missing, is that flying an attack or recce run at low level using time, heading and ground speed is a BLAST! I'll probably put up a little paper are TARPS in the F14 forum shortly, on where to find how to do this, and some examples and tips. Otherwise, TARPS from stored point to point in a sim will be boring. Learning to navigate isn't difficult, and it unshackles you from electronics, which results in confidence of knowing that if it all gets taken down, you can still find your way to the target and get home. My guess is that I share a lot of the same, fond memories as G.J.S, sitting around a table, telling sea stories while mission planning with my mates. More later. F4 Learning Curve The F4 is going to be easy to fly for those who know how to fly a regular old airplane. It's easier to land than the F14, it doesn't have the trim changes that the Tomcat has with wing sweep and power inputs, and it has a superior attitude reference in the AJB-7 ADI. You can do a full aerobatic sequence referencing nothing but the ADI. We had a similar instrument, the AJB-3 in the TA-4J, and on a student's first flight in the aircraft, they performed a "squirrel cage" sequence, under the bag, in the back seat. Rolls, loop, half cuban eight, Immelmann, split-S. It's magnificent. The Phantom is going to be a ton of fun. Change your mindset, embrace basic flight tasks like trimming, which become second nature in mere minutes. The F4 is a very straightforward airplane. Everyone I know who flew it loved it.

  21. The Harrier has that basically. You can skip alignment on servers based on your special settings. You don‘t really have any advantages but you don‘t have to wait. The setting is optional, those who want to wait can do it. Precision is the same.

М - Мета! что из этого всего можно использовать для взаимодействия с кабиной? риторический вопрос.

  28. it says "*New model with 4 digital rotary controls*" i.e. it's not analog axis.
    2 points
  29. I looked at that site, and I saw no specifics. So it's not clear to me whether the controls labelled "Key..." are analog devices or rotary encoders. A rotary encoder is like a pair of pushbuttons that produce a short pulse at every click.
    2 points
  30. Be careful before you buy - I don't know about this one but I've looked into similar button boxes and the rotaries aren't truly analog axes; turning them left or right simply presses a keyboard key, so you'd still be at the mercy of over-sensitive controls.

  37. If you like the indicators on all the time you can go into the editor and find the layer called indicators, unlock it, click on it and in the properties above, uncheck “hidden”, then they will show up when the profile starts. Thats how I set mine up. If you want the switch to match, unlock the “indicator SW” and change the initial/start position from two to one in the properties. Then save the profile.. If you don’t want the splash screen, you can delete the layer ( first one) in the editor, or move it to the very bottom layer.

  39. There's someone new working on a F-35. It looks extremely promising and a lot better than the VSN one. Discord is A51 Tech https://discord.com/channels/958909714014564403/958912712430223380

  40. I do not use Steam. But in the standalone version, MT.exe is in the bin subdirectory, and you should be pointing to the root directory of your DCS installation, not the bin subdirectory.

  42. Yup, you are absolutely right. The PHIMAT is a bit heavier and if I may say so the BARAX is astonishingly light for such a capable ECM pod. But yeah, in my case I just said I want a comparable weight to counterbalance the BARAX. IRL a 20kg weight difference is really not that much of a deal compared to having nothing on the other hardpoint. Payload drag might be of slightly more importance here so the BARAX may counter the PHIMAT, actually. But that is just an assumption, so...! Anyhow, we really need that pod. We really need more countermeasures...

Also aus meiner Sicht also nix für ungut bzw. typisches Internetmissmissverständnis.
