  6. Because I had to be really creative to get all the missiles working again. To be honest, I'm glad I actually found a way to implement them again. The fins are folded during the "boost" phase and will then unfold.

  9. Video 12/09/2024 = Talking a little about the project. Hello community, I present to you the first test of the UH-1H Huey cockpit. In this particular case, it is for you to observe and help me correct proportions and general shapes. Much of the work is based on photographs, and while I try to be as precise as possible, perhaps someone with real experience with the aircraft might notice things that need correction. Don't expect anything usable, just a white structure of the larger components of the cockpit. In the file, you will find a .jpg image with the steps to follow for installation (it may break the integrity check, meaning multiplayer mode might not work). Please remember to back up your files, and I am not responsible if you need to clean up the installation after use. Today, I want to introduce you to a project I started a few days ago. I'd love to hear your opinions and perspectives on it. About the Project: The main idea of the project is to update our beloved but somewhat outdated UH-1H Huey. As a 3D artist, my primary focus will be on updating the module's graphical aspects with new 3D models and textures (we’ll discuss the scope of these changes and their implications later). However, I don't rule out the possibility that, with the community's help, the changes could be more comprehensive. Considering that the Huey's flight model is excellent, and its systems are quite complete, any improvements beyond aesthetics would likely involve adding new weapons or features. Images (WIP): Progress So Far: Currently, I have partially modeled the Huey's cockpit. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but so far, I think it's looking pretty good. I've attached images of the work in progress. I managed to run some tests in the simulator with the new cockpit added to the old model, and it looks quite promising. I still need to figure out how to make the file changes through the "saved games" folder to avoid breaking the Integrity Check (IC), which I currently have no idea how to do. If anyone is willing to help in this area, your contribution would be more than welcome. -- We need to replace the file located at: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\Uh-1H\Cockpit\Shape" named "Cockpit_UH-1H.edm" with a new file of the same name placed in the "saved games" folder. Project Scope: Regarding the project's scope, I envision several possible options. Over the past few days, I've conducted a series of surveys to gauge the community's reaction to the project. For now, the goal is the following: A completely free mod for the community that updates the cockpit with new 3D models, textures, and animations. There would be no new functionalities. We would need to find a way to include it as a mod that doesn’t break the Integrity Check. If that’s not possible, based on the survey responses, there would be little community interest in the mod (and therefore, not much reason to continue its development). For those who have installed the mod, the helicopter will function as usual, but with a significantly enhanced level of detail in the cockpit. For the moment, both the exterior model and the interior cargo area of the helicopter would remain as they are currently. Improves on those parts would cost lots of time for a free proyect. The Reason for the Project: Essentially, I usually do things out of pure enjoyment or whim. The Huey is one of my favorite modules; it’s easy to use, fun to fly, not too complex, yet you can spend quite a bit of time mastering it. Despite this, its graphics, especially the interior, are quite outdated. Therefore, a few months ago, I started thinking about updating its textures to the PBR format. This led to multiple challenges due to the way its UVs were created, preventing the proper use of an AO pass. So, I decided to start modeling the interior in 3D from scratch. Estimated Timeframe: There’s no ETA; this is a project I’ll be working on in my spare time. Other Possible Versions: For now, I would focus on the version we currently have. I’d love to be able to choose whether to add or remove the radar altimeter and the flare dispenser at will, to make it closer to versions used in earlier periods of the Huey’s history. I’d also love to add the option for side-mounted M60s without the external hardpoints, as used by Hueys in Vietnam. If I were to develop other versions, I would be interested in a "C" version with various weapon systems used during Vietnam. I’m not a big fan of glass cockpits, so I’m not interested in modeling more modern versions of the Huey. However, these ideas are more like "dreams" rather than concrete goals, and they would largely depend on community support (since beyond 3D art, aspects that require programming are not my strong suit).   11. I should clarify for everyone. I've been working on replacing all the broken missiles for the last three weeks. I had to use all the tricks in the book to get them to basically work again. Core DCS doesn't have accessible weapon schemes made for these kind of weapons (like the GMLRS, ATACMS, PrSM, GLSDB, 9M723, YJ-21, DF-21D etc). It's not due to my lack of understanding these weapons, it's because I haven't found another way to implement them. The alternative would be to remove them. I have tested numerous different solutions, and this is the least worst one. I've experimented a lot with the SCUD code, but we need to understand the aim_data parameters for it to be useful.

  15. Die Situation mit Razbam ist wirklich nicht schön. Ich habe alle deren Module und außer der Mig19 gefallen die mir sehr gut. Ob ich von Razbam etwas kaufen werden glaube ich jetzt weniger, bei anderen Herstellern hätte ich da jetzt keine Bedenken. Für mich ist der Finanzielle Verlust auch nicht wirklich tragisch, zumal ich ja schon einige Stunden mit den Modulen verbracht habe. Auch habe ich genügend Alternativen auf der Platte die zu wenig bewegt worden sind daher sehe ich das entspannt. Was ich wirklich nicht schön finde ist, es gibt keine/kaum Information, ob überhaupt ein Interesse an einer Lösung vorhanden ist. Wobei mir auch klar ist, dass sowas besser ist als Halbwahrheiten. Nur gibt es für mich der sich fast ausschließlich hier informiert ausschließlich selbst erstellte Vorstellungen was der Rechtliche Rahmen ist. (nicht jetzt hier, im Razbam Unterforum ist das schon nicht mehr Nachvollziehbar)

  16. Started trial today and I'm loving it. And the bonus is it works with 3rd party mods with no workarounds, add-ons , or LUA editing. Just ran it with the OH-6 mod and worked great.

  20. I would like to add my own observations here. Reference the following release: Disregarding that the calculated bomb range and TOF are completely off (that's not the concern of this post), note that the calculated required sight depression is 85 mils. This calculation is confirmed by my own bombing calculator (which uses in-game bomb cx values determined from testing) when inputting the same parameters (plus/minus 1 mil). Observe also that the "correct" depression required (see the crater near the reticle) is 69 mils. Release CAS was 425. At release, my G per the F2 view was 0.8, versus a nominal G of 0.68 for a 47° dive angle. As per the correction chart below, this approx. 0.1 G error introduces a sight depression error of approximately 2 mils. For simplicity's sake, I'll ignore it. At the time of release, the aircraft's gross weight was 47717 lbs as per the mission editor (I set unlimited fuel to make sure). As per the below chart, the aircraft's AOA should have been 17,8 mils (rounded 18 mils). To compensate for this AOA, the actual sight setting would have had to be 85 + 18 mils = 103 mils, thus even further from the actually required sight setting. This makes me believe that the simulated F-4E's AOA diverges significantly from the real F-4 at given parameters. Note that if you were to subtract 18 mils from 85 mils, you would approximately get the really required 69 mils, but this is a coincidence based on other tests with different release parameters. It is entirely possible that I'm completely misunderstanding how the above calculations should work, so if anyone spots a flaw in my logic please help me out.

  22. Geduld und Abwarten hat mit "Augen zu und durch" nichts zu tun. Es dauert einfach seine Zeit und da kann man als Spieler rumheulen, schreien, drohen und mit dem Fuß aufstampfen wie kleine Kinder, es wird deswegen keine Minute schneller gehen. Aber wir haben schlicht unterschiedliche Arten, mit der Situation umzugehen und werden auf keinen gemeinsamen Nenner kommen (was natürlich auch nicht weiter schlimm ist). Es macht daher auch keinen Sinn, wenn wir weiter darüber diskutieren, da wir uns nur im Kreis drehen würden (genau wie der Razbam Thread im internationalen Forumsteil mit 86+ Seiten).

  25. Du hast ja den alten Ordner nur umbenannt und nicht gelöscht, richtig? Die Statistiken kannst du einfach aus dem alten Ordner rüberkopieren, die gehören nach: C:\Benutzer\{Dein Windows Benutzername}\Gespeicherte Spiele\DCS\MissionEditor\logbook.lua Überhaupt kannst du aus dem alten Ordner beispielsweise deine ganzen Controller-Einstellungen zurückholen, die liegen in Gespeicherte Spiele\DCS\Config\Input. Nebenan in DCS\Screenshots finden sich deine Screenshots, und so weiter.

  26. A timeout on a feature does seem sketchy. I’ve never heard of something like this before nor have I ever heard of a reason to code such a thing to a module.   27. Do you mean you can't fire them if you take control of the assets? If so, that's correct. DCS doesn't allow me to implement more advanced radars (with separate channels etc) and still retain the feature to manually fire them. And since I primarily make AI assets I chose to have the more advanced radars.

  35. Dispense Countermeasures. I believe it is under the Throttle section of the bindings. You will need to assign a button to it as iirc it defaults to unbound.   37. Да там и без графика были видны отклонения ручки даже в нормальных режимах, кто хотел тот увидел сразу это, тут даже графики не нужны. Я забил просто, главная проблема летунов защитников - они опираются на какие-то ощущения, а не на цифры и графики. А к ощущениями апеллировать сложно. Я вот могу на метле себя ощущать как на f15 от разбама, докажите что это не так. И там и там кстати радар не работает.

The HOTAS bindings for both modules are a little bit schizophrenic, and manuals (neither ED's nor the -1) cannot be trusted 100% I could reproduce both of your issues, and updated the kneeboards.   40. Yepp, that is what i ment. @hornblower793, You can try it out yourself. Look in a mirror, Hide your fear, and dare to look in your mirrored eyes. You will see exactly where youre eyes are directed at (i hope). Then .. stare at the top of your head ..don't cheat. And, when looking at the top of youre head, try to make out where your eyes in the mirror are pointed at.. I found it surprising how little whe can see sharply, without moving our eyes. Pheriferal vision is very sensitive for moving things, that draws our attention en then whe can verry fast turn our eyes to sweep the area and gat a sharp picture in our head.

  43. Really good video. I think a lot of us are really just used to turn fighting but if you look at it, US planes generally excelled in speed ever since WW2 and the main strategy since then has been to drain your opponents of speed and drop on them like a sledgehammer. Mustangs, Lightnings, Thunderbolts, Hellcats and Corsairs did this in the Pacific vs Zeros. Bf 109s and Fw 190s used these strategies vs Spitfires. Then Australian Spitfire pilots had to learn the hard way to do the same vs the Zero as well... A lot of us are now in this stage with the F-4 since most of us are used to the extreme maneuverability and highly-rewarding 1 circle strategies learned in 4th gen jets where reliable HOBS and radar-homing missiles punish anyone trying to 2 circle or extend. Energy fighting is STILL dogfighting, but the idea that 1 circling IS dogfighting seems to be more persasive among jet pilots online. I'm convinced that F-4 pilots need to go back to the WW2 mindset and use missiles and radar as bonuses, not the primary means of winning a fight.

They do everything the in game wingman does and has a lot more functionality. Interactive Range controller (BLACKJACK) and (SHOWTIME) Simulated HAVEQUICK system. -- simulates a secure comms system for DCS world. New Dynamic JTAC system -- Replaces the in game JTAC (Wags) and Adds more functionality. AFAC and Artillery observation for Helo's. -- Player can interact with AI Aircraft and Artillery battery to direct fires. All the systems are based off of NATOPS manuals and official documentation, it's as authentic I as I can make it for DCS. Plenty more...... As all ways, the Devil is in the details. So far there's over 2000 sound files and many, many thousands of lines of code. So far I have added the F/A-18C, F-16C & AV8B. I'm relearning the F-14 to see if Jester will interact with the JTAC. Think of it more as a tech demo than a campaign.
