  1. Status update Hey guys! I'm back in business again after the short vacation! My aim is to finalize the German asset pack update, if everything goes to plan it should release tomorrow or the day after.

  2. On popular demand... the German asset pack update 1.1.0 will include the IRIS-T SLM system, with the launcher, the TRML-4D radar and C2 vehicle. And it's of course equipped with the IRIS-T SL medium range SAM. These assets wouldn't be possible without the efforts of @HE5405, who made the meshes for both the launcher and the radar!

  5. Good news, everyone! We just concluded a productive meeting with the ED team, and I'm pleased to share some positive updates. Firstly, I'd like to extend my gratitude to the ED team for their time and understanding. We discovered there had been an email communication issue, which has now been resolved, allowing us to have this important discussion. During the meeting, the ED team thoroughly reviewed DCRealistic and SimHaptic. I'm happy to report that they found no issues with these products, and they are supportive of them being available for use. While this is still in the clarification stage, we expect to receive official confirmation within the next 72 hours. Thank you all for your patience and support as we move forward! rkApps

  6. What a shame ! I really wish ED and rkApps come to an agreement. I just bought expensive hardware, Haptics Buttkicker, and then I tested and then bought rkApps SImhaptic, because it's much better then the original Buttkicker software. I also tested and wanted to buy DCrealistic just today, which I can't now. VR + Buttkicker + SimHaptic + DCRealistic is the best experience of immersion I ever got. I understand that rkApps earns money thanks to existence of ED. And ED earns money thanks to the existence of Intel, AMD, Nvidia .... etc, ... ED should really have a good policy to encourage third parties to improve DCS world environment. And by the way, it might be off topic (or not), I went into DCS because of the Mirage 2000 (I'm french). You see what I mean. I also bought the mudhen/

  7. HOT FIX Download this lua file (FlankerCFG.lua) and paste inside: "\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\aircraft\Su-30_EFM_V2.7.xxb\FM\ " (Replace if asked) This should fix A/A configuration of the Base version of the mod. Do not install CWS until further notice. Note: CWS 1.8 is outdated and an update will be provided soon along with an overall mod update with many changes. Please keep an eye on this channel for future news FlankerCFG.lua

  8. @BIGNEWY may be able to make contact to the right persons at ED? Or @Wags And on a personal note: I would beg ED to not put too many hurdles in front of rkApps. Wether you need it or not, it's an enrichment to DCS imho.

  9. We've got an updated test version, downloadable here. Encyclopedia entries have been created for the units and weapons. The FIM-43C and Blowpipe have had numerous tweaks to them. The Redeye is dangerous to targets traveling slower than 400 knots, which is more in line with documentation. However, it has been modified to overall be less accurate; experiments suggest slightly less than 50% hit chance against a Su-27 flying straight at 360 kts at 3000 feet and not dropping flares. The Blowpipe has been tuned to be even less accurate, as testing suggested it was hitting far too often. Given that with over 100 shots during the Falklands War by both sides, only two fixed-wing aircraft were shot down, it should have extremely poor accuracy against a fast moving aircraft. The Strela-2 and 2M were slightly modified so that they are less likely to be launched at a very vertical angle, and a slight delay in firing to make it more likely that a fixed-wing aircraft is shot from the rear. This makes the missiles slightly more likely to track, but does result in a shorter time before the aircraft leaves the WEZ. Please post any issues with this test version, along with as much detailed information on the circumstances of the issue as possible. If the weapons still seem to accurate, please post the test/use case setup.

  10. I tested today on cont 80s server been flying in that for a few months now. Since last patch spotting is completely out of the window for me now , yes before we had the big black blob , but now I don't see anything and I mean anything not unless on top of me , no point even setting my headset up anymore . Even real pilots are saying VR is totally fucked up . So today I went back to 2D , 43" TV. And I could see everything, ground targets and air targets at 6 miles , on call outs it's a completely different environment. 2540 x 1440 upscaled to 2160 res DLAA . That says to me that some thing isn't right with DCS and VR. When in VR in the cockpit is amazing but the outside world is a blurry messed up mess with no positive targets . . Jump into another sim and I see them same targets just fine . The WWII server has lost most of its population of late .

  11. Christ. It's ironic, don't you think? All these emotional over-exagerrated expressions, insults and superlatives to criticize Jester being too cartoonish, emotional or incompetant. Amazing how many of the rest of us get on with using him - quite succesfully by the way - whilst being cogent of his limitations. And I'm talking Jester 1.0; we're doing ok whilst not even benefitting from the improved coding of J2.0. Of course it's SOOOO easy to program an AI that's integrated into a virtual avionic system and aircraft; surprised you haven't done it better yourself yet. And to attempt make him a vaguely human character rather than a DCS equivalent of a talking teasmaid... simplicity itself. But of course, I'm sure you could do that on that on back of a knapkin in your lunchbreak... Suggestion - take your own advice and dial back the emotion; try to show some respect to some of the hardest working devs in DCS and learn the difference between feedback and criticism. Right now, you're being a douche.

  15. "So, in tandem to the other thread, I cant say enough how dissapointed I am to have shelled out more money for the supposed "cutting edge" tech and latest improvements in DCS terrain rendering....to get what is simply put yet another example of blurry textures laid over terrain mesh with -really, definition points measured in the hundreds of metres rather than the centimetres that I was getting in FSX 15 years ago......mountain ranges with dead straight ridgelines hundreds of metres apart....mountain sides comprising flat planes with low res testures pasted over. Repetitive low res textures with detailed areas plonked over the top with no blending. Its really, really dissappointing after the same crap in Kola and SA. Check out these screen shots. Honestly, there are areas of the Caucusus and NTTR that look better than this. Is this really 15 years progress in scenery development in DCS?" ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I would have to agree with this guy. Doesn't look like they put a whole lot of work into this map. I flew it last night for the first time......I may as well go back to pretending that the deserts around Las Vegas are Afghanistan. They sure look as good if not better than this new map. Seems like every time I let my guard down and fork over cash to help the cause....I get what I pay for. Sorry ED......That's just the plain truth.

  16. Folks, just to be clear - and avoid unecessary heat: AFAIK - the only problem so far is, that rkApps had problems in contacting ED on the matter. They deactivated their apps as a precaution to not violate EDs EULAs. So far ED has neither denied or charged them to make their App available as far as I'm aware off. Please correct me, but in the meantime, we should just chill.

  19. It's so, so much fun. I've been waiting for this plane for so many years. I'm Japanese, and there's a manga in Japan called "Phantom Burai." I fell in love with the Phantom through this manga. It's difficult to fly, but it's also a lot of fun to learn. *If the DCS replay was more reliable, I'd be able to enjoy watching the replay, but that's the only thing that's disappointing. I loved it so much that I immediately made a skin. XD

  20. I (and several others) asked this a couple of time already and at least a year ago, still no change for >4 updates despite it was promised to implement: Homepit owners with a working ejection seat handle usually can only once press a DirectX key, the usual setup for the handle is that it's connected to a rod being pulled and activating a switch. This switch with an interface sends a single keypress to DCS. But single keypresses can't activate ejection, you have to press it three times - at least in the F-16, the F-4 just needs one. As I can't imagine that this change would take more than two lines of code if ever... will we see this change in the near future as promised? Ruining a lot of immersion sitting in the cockpit in VR, trying to muscle-remember where the keyboard with CTR and E is... or pressing three times some unused hat (there is no unused in my setting) on the stick.

  21. Mission 5—Night Hunt: The illumination flares from the Su-34 don't illuminate during the attack on the house. Dialogue and instructions regarding the escaping car are unclear. Mission 6 - Narzan Valley - The Hinds don't prosecute their attack on the Narzan Valley compound after you destroy the AA/Manpad threat, making success almost impossible. I've included many Tacviews of this behavior. 24. I too have seen a general performance drop in VR since the last patch. I ended up locking my HMD's refresh rate at 45Hz just to make it playable, when previously I could run at unlocked at 72Hz. I will try to get a log and dxdiag for you tonight.

  27. this is the correct way to load, I would recommend using this line, it was changed w/ 2.9.6 My work around simply adds the Old info to force a binary load, this properly loads the DLLs and systems.

  28. Please ED, support rkApps. DCS is not the same without your improvements. I hope they reach an agreement and ED looks after its variety of clients. Lately ED does nothing but put stones in the way, rather than speeding it up for a better experience for its users. Please think about the users, with good intentions everything can be solved.

  29. I would like to strongly advocate for ED granting rkApps an official license for SimHaptic. I've a rather expensive motion rig setup with 4 ButtKicker Minis on it. SimHaptic is BY FAR the best software I have used for interpreting DCS telemetry and converting it into extremely immersive haptic feedback. The official software that came with my rig is woefully inadequate for flight simulation and SimHaptic has massively improved my enjoyment of DCS - allowing a deep level of customisation for each aircraft. It's extremely well produced and functions very well. I would go so far to say that SimHaptic is increasing the amount of money I spend on DCS - it certainly makes me more excited to play - and I can only see a benefit to ED in partnering with companies whose software supports their simulator and makes DCS more enjoyable. Massive thumbs up to rkApps - ED please do the right thing and make them official partners.

  30. TGT-VRP/PUP altitude is set relative to the steerpoint altitude ASL. If you want the VRP or the PUP (for some reason) to be below the steerpoint, use the (0-) MSEL key to set a minus before the altitude. Afaik, this should also apply to the Offset Aimpoints (accessible through the DEST page, and good references for your pulldown and egress). Example: TGT altitude is 400ft ASL, you want to set the PUP for 1500ft ASL. 1500-400 = 1100ft, which is what you enter. TGT altitude is 1200ft ASL (say a radio tower on a hill), VRP is a town at 400ft ASL. 400-1200 = -800ft FWIW, planning all this is makes much more sense for VIP and not VRP. VIP is used for pop-up attacks where you use a landmark as your Visual Ingress Point as your navigation fix (pre-GPS) and set a fixed TGT based off of that landmark. Linked below is a great tool for that, although it doesn't support the newer maps sadly. VRP is moreso for referencing something that comes up along the way in the mission and using the target (which you can see visually) as a reference point. Can't say I've found much of a use for it but hey. I hope that helps

  35. Our test team are volunteers so they are customers the same as you. They deserve to be treated with respect as do you. If they ask for a track it's because they are required to. 90% of the time it's better to get a track from the person experiencing the issue. The other 10% of the time it's still better to get a track from the person with the issue. At the end of the day, our team is instructing and requiring them to get the track from you. I am aware there are issues with some training missions and we are looking into it, regardless, please give constructive and mature feedback, if you are feeling frustrated step back from the computer for a break, as well see my signature below for a link on how to properly report bugs. Thanks. Posts are hidden by ED Team, they are hidden based on the forum rules clearly shared at the top of the forums. If you have questions about how a post was removed, please send a DM to me or BIGNEWY. Last thing, this is not a bug thread, if you have a bug you need to create a thread in the appropriate section with the appropriate info. I am closing this thread now. If you have an issue please post a new thread.

  37. Echoing those before me, yes it is great fun! The combat aspect has its own rewards, but I’m more than happy just doing some cross country via nav aids, pattern work at an airfield somewhere, before a return and more pattern work at my initial lift off point. It’s quite pleasing. The biggest draw - and this is my own view - is that it’s an honest aircraft. Fly smoothly and it will complement you immensely. Stray too far and it will bite. Everything you need to know is there, no need to push through several MFD pages. You only need the pipper up when you intend to use a weapon, otherwise just turn it to standby and just fly!

  39. The external “cheese wedge” mirrors, located on rear canopy bow, are only adjustable by ground crew. The internal bow mirrors are adjustable by pilot - not to a great degree - but they are adjustable. There is even a warning to check centre mirror (pilot) adjustment does not foul canopy closing.

  40. Yes. Better to have reasonably realistic ~2006 Eurofighter, compatible with the timeframe of ~2006 Hornet, Viper, Apache etc. and many AI ground, air and sea assets available. Than unrealistic late 2020 P2Eb Meteor compatible EF, castrated from all the classified equipement and purposely changed other ones and with guestimated avionics and weapons. Lacking any context in DCS, without 2020 AI ground, air or sea asets.

  41. Most of the mirrors in the Phantom are mechanically locked and cannot be tilted IRL. You can easily see that in the 3D model as well if you check its back. Some can be adjusted very limited by ground crew, not inflight. This will be made available by us eventually. Tiltable mirrors are a bit complex to setup on the technical side. Regarding the default angle, I have to check back with the SMEs, but I vaguely recall that they have been used mostly to check flight control surfaces and not to spot enemies behind you or similar. As in, I believe it was supposes to have such an angle - but I will doublecheck it, its been a year or so already :)

  42. AFAIK, they (ORT) released their fixes to ED for integration testing a couple of weeks ago, so it is (currently) out of their, and in ED‘s hands to finalize and publish. I understand that you are frustrated (it has been way too long for an update), but currently we wait for ED, not ORT.
