Whether you’re a seasoned virtual aviator or a newcomer looking to broaden your horizons, there’s no better time to add the next thrilling asset to your hangar. The upcoming Mission State Save Option provides a way to maintain mission progress across sessions, preserving achievements and unit statuses without requiring complex editing. This feature will allow you to save or generate a new mission at any point, ensuring destroyed or activated groups remain consistent and aircraft return to their latest positions, whether airborne or on the ground. It will also capture essential warehouse data and adjust the mission date and time to reflect the saved state. Dedicated servers will be able to utilise an automatic or on-demand save function to create new .sav files. Please read the details below. This week we brought you a campaigns only update that included several improvements across a variety of DCS campaigns, each focused on refining mission flow and gameplay. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Spring Sale Up to -50% Don’t miss this chance to expand your DCS collection at special springtime prices. Head to our E-Shop to explore all available offers and secure your must-have modules before the sale ends! See you in the skies. The DCS Spring Sale 2025 has already begun on our E-Shop and will run until the 23rd of March, 2025 at 23:59 GMT. We are also pleased to announce our participation in the DCS Steam Edition Spring Sale 2025, which will commence on the 13th of March and end on the 20th of March 2025 at 17:00 GMT. Mission State Save Development Progress We are pleased to share good progress on the Mission State Save Option. This feature is aimed at giving players an easier way to set up their own mission context and environment (story) with basic mission editor skills and be able to keep progress made by transferring achievements to subsequent sessions of the same mission automatically. It’s designed to enhance long-term gameplay, providing a seamless experience for those engaging in lengthy or complex missions. Additionally, we are making it compatible with multiplayer nuances. We hope you’ll enjoy it! The new Save feature will allow you to save mission states between missions. It will also allow you to make mission changes at the save point in the Mission Editor. The feature is now integrated with the existing DCS architecture. The current efforts are focused on adding specific dedicated server controls for running persistent missions and saving them on demand. As always, community feedback will be vital to our development process. Once this feature will be available, we encourage all participants to provide as much detailed feedback as possible so we can plan future improvements. The Mission State Save feature is aimed at giving players an easier way to create new missions based on the saved events state of the played mission. New Save does not save the state of everything in a mission but rather applies the theatre of operations events to a newly generated mission. This allows you to create linked missions with persistence between them. You can save the mission state at any time during the mission or generate a new mission from the state you get at debriefing after you exit the mission. The new mission file will have its time and date set to match the day and time the previous mission was saved at, and groups that were destroyed will be deleted from the mission and groups that were activated will be added as active. If you save a mission state while controlling an aircraft in flight, the aircraft will spawn at the location it was flying when the mission ended. The same transfer of spawn position will also happen at airfields or FARPs when the aircraft is on the ground. Ground unit current positions, speeds and waypoints will also be saved between missions. We are also working on adding new types of triggers that will activate by absolute time passed in the mission, not just time passed since the start of the simulation process. All warehouse states are also transferred. We are working on adding and refining the parameters that are transferred to new mission files. The Mission State generated file will be compatible with the Mission Editor, just like a regular mission file, so you can adjust it as needed to best support a storyline you want. Additionally, we worked on multiplayer functionality to give dedicated servers the option to generate these files automatically at the end of a mission or on demand by the admin panel button. Also, we have developed a new dedicated server mission format .sav to support seamless mission persistence, when a mission is converted to .sav, the server will automatically save the last state of that mission after mission end or restart, while saving on demand will give you a new .sav file at the location of your choice. The dedicated server interface also will allow conversion between .miz and .sav formats. That way you can run missions lists which will iterate through different types of missions and keep persistent missions automatically updated after the server switches to another mission. This feature won’t break protection of DCS paid single player campaigns and is aimed at user generated content only initially. Campaigns Update In the DCS: AH-64D Outpost Campaign by Stone Sky, mission 2 now has a corrected landing procedure on the Arleigh Burke. For DCS: F/A-18C Operation Green Line by Badger633, the boat movement issue in mission 1 is fixed, and F/A-18C Rise of the Persian Lion 2 sees its mission 13 carrier parking conflict resolved. Ground Pounder Sims updated mission 10 in the F-16C Last Out Weasels Over Syria 2 Campaign to prevent the rotor from engaging MiGs prematurely, while F/A-18C Operation Cerberus North mission 5 received various minor tweaks. Finally, Baltic Dragon’s F/A-18C Raven One: Dominant Fury underwent an overhaul in missions 4, 8, and 9, addressing progression blockers, datalink fixes, and comms improvements. To experience these important campaign fixes, please update to the latest DCS version now! Black Angels Air Race This weekend, make sure you tune in to an exciting new DCS Mustang Air Race Championship, hosted by our dedicated community members Black Angels. Inspired by Nick Grey’s recent feedback, they have improved their race result export system to update in near real-time, ensuring that pilots can see their lap times both on their Discord and on the event homepage. Join in for free practice sessions on the 7th and 8th of March, with the main competition taking place on the 9th of March featuring the iconic P-51 and free TF-51 Mustangs. In their commitment to expanding air racing throughout the DCS community, the team will release their racing script for anyone interested in creating their own thrilling events. They also invite participants to #FlyTogether by offering a gift voucher for any Eagle Dynamics module as a prize. If you’d like to get involved please visit the event page, or simply cheer on the racers on the Champions page. We truly hope you take advantage of the fantastic savings available in the DCS Spring Sale 2025 and that the development progress on the persistent save feature is to your satisfaction. Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,15 points

I'm happy to give you my overhauled dora cockpit! Some things that were done All textures were upscaled to 4k, every line and detail were sharpened and refined Colors were corrected. Cockpit corrected to late war RLM 66, main instrument panel texture(including normal map and roughmet) were redone from wood to metal with a historically accurate Bakelite tone...great for absorbing light and reducing glare. Leather and main instuments changed to black for historical accuracy Dirt added where it should be as the cockpit was sterile and ready for a heart transplant operation Light bleed anomaly behind the rudder pedals greatly improved to a smooth transition Again too large for for the DCS userfiles but you can get it off my google docs install pathway is in the main DCS install ie. ?:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FW-190D9\Liveries\Cockpit_FW190D9 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IpGvg4JFiL39h_F0CM8NlE_eVvl9vgFJ/view?usp=sharing @MiGCap18 points

Thank you for the explantion but I am very aware of this and I know very well that there is a difference between free and open source software. It is a clear decision to make it free but not open source. I am wondering why I really have to discuss this here. Do you really believe that some who would like to take the code does not take it and compile it to a non readable binary because it is a GPL licence??? Sounds like letting doors open and putting a sign please don't steal something. Nobody said the oh-6 won't be maintained. No DCS update had negative impact on the mod til now. Open source won't happen To be honest, I think it's pretty cheeky to ask so insistently.7 points

Hello everyone. To start, I want to let everyone know that this update will be about what I am currently working on and that it does not include any new renders, but rather information about the project. I know that many of you are eagerly awaiting updates and asking what’s new. To clarify, my time is not dedicated solely to DCS—I have a job, family, and friends, and I also spend time with them. So, please don’t expect me to release updates regularly. As you all know, my current priority in my free time is working on the Tornado project for Aviastorm, which takes up most of my time. However, this doesn’t mean that I don’t occasionally work on my Su-22M4 project as well. Of course, I have some new things in progress, and I constantly try to push the project forward whenever time allows. A significant amount of time is spent studying manuals and guides for this aircraft, as well as engaging in discussions with my contacts who assist me with the project. These contacts include former pilots of the Czechoslovak Air Force who flew this aircraft and ground personnel who maintained it. Their insights are invaluable to the project. As many of you know, the project is currently on hold in part because I need to find someone who can help with the flight model and new textures for the aircraft. The textures you’ve seen so far no longer meet DCS standards, and I want to create a mod—or, if possible, a full module—at the quality level required for such projects. I can share a few details that I may not have mentioned before. When developing a module, it's not just about being able to click a switch in the cockpit—it has to make sense in terms of functionality and simulation. It’s not just about the switch being "ON" or "OFF," but also about properly replicating the system behind it. Many of you have asked why I don’t just use the avionics from the Su-25T since they are similar. In reality, however, my goal is not to reuse existing systems but to bring the aircraft to DCS as close to its real-life counterpart as possible. For example, before a flight, a navigation data card with coordinates for waypoints (up to six) and four airfields was inserted into the aircraft’s navigation system. This is one of the features I’d like to implement in the mission editor so that each pilot can program their own flight route. So, as you can see, I have a lot on my plate. Even though you don’t always see the progress, it involves more than just development—it includes studying how these systems functioned, holding discussions, compiling information, and organizing everything into notes for whoever will be working on coding the aircraft’s systems. If you’re curious, one of the most recent things I’ve been gathering detailed information on is the LO-86E system, which is used to control the warheads of Kh-58U and Kh-25MP missiles before they are launched from the aircraft. At the moment, I’m just waiting for photos and additional visual documentation from pilots to confirm how the system was used in the cockpit. In conclusion, as you can see, there is a lot that I have to and want to create for you, and it’s not an easy process. However, I believe that in the end, you will be satisfied, and most importantly, I am actively working on the project. As you know, there aren’t many aircraft like this in DCS, and in my opinion, that’s a shame because even these older aircraft can provide an experience that many of you have never seen before. They offer a glimpse into how aircraft operated on the other side of the world during the Cold War, an era that is now almost entirely historical. I am truly grateful that so many of you remain interested and are patiently waiting to see what can be created for you. Your enthusiasm is a huge source of inspiration for me to ensure this project is successful. Once again, a huge thank you to all of you!6 points

More than cheeky, i think people was just so excited and happy with the MH-60 development, and knowing the project is cancelled is shocking so maybe they want to dream about any ray of hope about the future with that project. Your position about is crystal clear, and i think all of us respect your decision. We are gratefull about the free OH-6 and keeping it working in the future4 points

I agree -- I see the entitled attitude in the community even now after the announcement. Thank you for the good times with this mod -- it was fantastic!4 points

While I agree with you in spirit, I would say that is a tough decision to make. Tobi and Eightball have obviously put a lot of time and effort into the endeavor. Handing it over as open source for free may be difficult for the following reasons: Protecting Work – Prevent unauthorized use or monetization. Preventing Cheating – Avoid exploits in multiplayer. Retaining Control – Keep the mod's vision intact. Avoiding Extra Work – No flood of bug fixes or feature requests. Legal Issues – Might contain third-party assets or reverse-engineered content. No Interest in Collaboration – Some devs prefer working solo. Future Monetization – Might turn into a paid module later.4 points

My 5080 arrived today and is now installed, having replaced a 3080Ti. The rest of the PC includes a 7800x3d, 64GB ram, PCIE5 SSD. My VR headset is an Oculus Pro, which does have eye tracking. As such, I'm using that rather awesome Quad Views from Mbuchia, which most certainly does help. My drivers are 572.16, using the latest DLSS (K?). The DLSS setting is for quality upsampling and DLAA AA. The hope was to achieve an FPS of 72, which is the native frame rate for the Oculus Pro, and in short, with the 5080, it nearly consistently hits it. Settings included: High Textures High scenery textures Ultra Clouds (lower settings look a real mess with DLSS upsampling) scenery detail, forests around 80% across Flat shadows In the Oculus, I have the "Home" disabled, and in DCS, I have the empty hangar, both of which save VRAM space. I tried a variety of aircraft including the Viggen, Harrier, F4, F18, Apache and Chinook (not the mod). For terrains, I used Kola, Afghanistan and Falklands. With most of the aircraft/terrain combinations, the GPU was running between 60-80% usage, even after upping the up-sampling in Quad Views to x1.5. The frame did visibly bounce around a little, but in most combos, it was very smooth. VRAM usage was around 14GB+, so not much headroom. The positive news was that with nearly every combo, once the shaders were built for all but the "odd" new texture, that the blips barely registered whilst it was loading. My guess is that maybe data bus all being at PCIE5 "might" helped. The caveats being: Add the Chinook showed up the implications of only 16GB of VRAM, which resulted in an absolute tanking of frame rate, whilst DCS was dragging in what are clearly "fairly large" textures for the aircraft. As that was the only aircraft that I experienced issues with (and that was on the SA map), that's fairly positive. Is it enough to justify the additional spondoolies for a 5090, well that's not for me to answer This was single player. Haven't tried multi-player, so these findings "might" not be fully representative In short, I'm pretty impressed. I wasn't sure that it was going to deliver the hoped for 72fps, but in the majority of my tests, it happily managed it. As for power consumption, turns out that it's very close to my old 3080Ti, meaning that I frankly don't really care. Hope that helps.3 points

Absolutely, I chose black because its what I saw in photos, brown very much couldve likely been used depending on who made what, if it was replaced etc etc though id expect the brown leather to be much darker than the stock d9 cockpit.... by this time in the war cockpits have german cockpits have also gotten much darker, it was all about glare reduction. Even the standard RLM 66 paint used has inconsistencies from plane to plane, so there is plenty of room for interpretation :). That wood instrument panel however had to go, I could not find a single record of a dora using a wood panel even with the material shortage during that period, also looks like balsam wood lol with grains that widely spaced that thing would disintegrate after a minute of it shaking like that haha3 points

I would love to see an option to save the aircraft state. If you turn off the aircraft, it will stay the same way you left it. This would make the use of Checklists mandatory.3 points

F/A-18C Rise of the Persian Lion F-16C Last Out Weasels Over Syria 2 Campaign

I don't think you can talk about leaving quickly here. I was thinking about for several month now. I have put a lot of my free time into these topics for more than 5 years. I have written an exporter that has made many other mods possible, I have helped with many mods and even if it was only small things and there is still a complete helicopter with good quality for a piece of software given as a gift, which does not get any new features for the time being but is still maintained. I think that's more than one should ask for. I can at least say that I can go into modding retirement with a clear conscience.3 points

I am very excited to announce VSN has allowed us to test their upcoming F-104C standalone mod. I am very impressed with the 3D model and flight model. It will make a fantastic addition to ITJ when it is released. We are also looking at adding the VSN F-4 B/C. Both mods are having a minor conflict in ITJ we are looking into right now. I hope to find the issue soon so we can place it in the mission. I look forward to making more videos soon with ATA Refueling, Bomber Intercepts and some other functions. Hope you enjoy the kickoff video and again, thank you to the VSN crew for allowing us to test this!2 points

Some people have noted that their anti-virus has quarantined the WhisperAttack executable, this also happened for me this morning. This is a false positive and a known issue for some Python applications built using PyInstaller (which we use) or py2exe. You can add an exclusion to your antivirus software, e.g. Windows Defender, to prevent this from occurring. nullThere is another executable builder which apparently does not exhibit this issue so I will be investigating that for later releases. Apologies in advance if this has happened to you as well.2 points

KevinAu and I exchanged some PMs and he's convinced me that 15 degrees of bank is the better option for now, so I thought I would share why: ATP-56 (which was previously cited) indeed prescribes a 50nm x 20nm track. With the speeds tanker aircraft generally fly at for fighter aircraft (300kts), a 15 degree bank would result in roughly 20nm turning diameter (depending on altitude). That fits the 50nm x 20nm track perfectly. The 25 degree bank resulted in somewhat erratic AI behavior and throwing off other AI planes trying to refuel. I assume this could be fixed eventually. Although the tanker still somewhat struggles to fly the pattern whenever a receiver aircraft joins on the tanker's return leg, I was unable to replicate the glaring issues I remember having. The issue is more exaggerated with very short racetracks. With longer tracks this issue is less apparent. So I must have been wrong or ED fixed the issue. It doesn't change the fact the tanker doesn't behave like last advertised, so perhaps that description requires a correction. Ultimately, I think the option to set tanker bank angle would be nice. But now I agree 15 degrees of bank during refueling is more universally practical as opposed to 25 degrees.2 points

I put about 16-20 ish manual hours? Upscaling is easy, refining each line not so much so I used AI specifically for that and it did a great job. But redoing the floor and correcting mistakes i had to do myself and it took a while.2 points
