Anyway, I made weapons control panel with left/right pylon selection and ripple selector from 1 from each pylon to 4 and all. Also the interval/delay knob which I'm still working on. https://streamable.com/au8scd10 points

Random claims that this project "won't work" because "I don't listen to the community suggestions" that he yet didn't prove (it's been almost a week). Doesn't look like a friendly constrictive criticism to me. (I took suggestions about landing gear, textures and roughmets, weapon placements and many more) I did not attack anyone. I just asked him to explain his point of view, which he actively refuses to do and also started getting political before having his posts removed by a moderator. If someone isn't supporting this project, just don't check the thread and don't pollute it with unnecessary comments. I added him into ingnored users, and everyone doing similar thing will be added too. Criticism and opinions is a good thing, but only if they bring something to the table instead just being hateful.9 points

Don't follow this thread then. I don't understand what your problem is. You can doubt as much as you want, project is not waiting for your personal approval Just as I thought, several days pass, he responded to others yet no elaboration. I guess he has something personal with me, which I don't know of, neither do I care.9 points

"The C130J went on pre-purchase the other day and now we have a first look by one of the content creators." Can we have something similar with the Mig29A? Everything has gotten cold since the pre-order video dropped almost 3 months back. Or am I asking for too much?6 points

Attack? He responded to a pretty off hand remark that came out of nowhere without any form of constructive criticism. Read the room! Well said. You're in the right here and I thank you in advance for your hard work! Cheers!5 points

Posted it elsewhere already, those videos are exactly what I want to see before release. Show us how things work in practice. Not more not less. Awesome indeed! Also like the tone of you both working together.5 points

Given the fact there is a FAQ on their Discord, but not in this forum I've decided to copy it in here so people can find it better. From the FAQ on Airplane Simulation Company Discord as by August the 2. : Q. Which variants are planned? A. Stage 1- C-130J Block 6.5 Hercules, Tactical airlifter C-130J-30, Lockheed Martin designation for its 15 ft (4.6 m) extended fuselage variant; designated CC-130J by USAF for a short time after 2002., Release timeline to be confirmed for the following at a later date: MC-130J, Designed for Air Force Special Operations Command. Originally named Combat Shadow II., Q. Are the C130H or legacy models planned? A. No. Q. What is the expected release date? A. By the end of 2025. Q. Will the C-130J be able to transport weapons? A. We intend for the C-130 to be able to carry any warehouse items between bases. Q. CNI/FMS? A. Yes, a fully simulated FMS is included. We have also modeled airways/SIDS/stars, etc. Q. MOAB? A. Yes! Q. Will there be an AC variant? A. Depending on sales, we will consider an AC / Harvest Hawk in the future. Q. Airdrops? A. Yes for cargo and vehicles. Paratroops will be added when ED puts them in game. Q. Multicrew? A. Yes, at least 3. Q. Cargo Loading/Unloading without needing scripts? A. Yes. Any cargo dropped or landed will be added to the DCS warehouse system. Q. What defensive systems will the plane have? A. The plane will have an RWR, MWS, and IIRCM systems. The fidelity levels of these are limited by both the availability of unclassified information on those systems, as well as DCS itself. Q. What skins will be available? A. The list is unconfirmed at the time as there are so many national operators, but the artist will produce a paintkit in the future, after release, for livery makers. Q. Will we add the fuel probe? A. Possibly in future after initial release Hope this one will prevent some confusion and give answers to people who aren't using Discord. As soon as a more official FAQ arrives, this one can be closed and put into archives.5 points

Your comments here are insulting many people and with relatively low knowledge of the subject. If you don't care, the developer doesn't care either. The best you can do is politely ask, that's all. You even marked your reply as resolved. That's really lol.4 points

Oh, I like how those guys make teaser videos. Exactly my thing. Show us how things work in practice. Not more not less. That's the stuff. Keep them coming! Thanks!4 points
-
There are countless examples. They do carry them, and it may be required, especially during combat missions (and DCS is a combat simulator, right?). For MSFS, this might be strange, but for DCS, it's not. However, I agree that it would be nice to have the option of wearing a helmet or not. That is, having the pilots' heads, without helmets, wearing only headsets. Of course, this would probably require some changes (and contrary to appearances, modeling a human is one of the most difficult elements in 3D graphics combined with simulation), but it's possible. @ASC, maybe it's worth considering this option for users too?4 points

Hello to all heli pilots out there, or those who want to become one. If you're new to DCS or helicopters and want to learn how to control the helicopter without flight computer support, then you're exactly where you belong in this group. You're looking to operate like a pilot, not just a player. I (Grizzly, a helicopter flight instructor) and others from the squadron offer online individual and group training. It doesn't matter which helicopter type you want to fly. However, the UH-1 Huey is particularly suitable for beginners. But if you don't want to invest too much money in DCS at the beginning, MODS can also be used by arrangement. Feel free to get in touch with us here, on our Discord, or via direct message. https://discord.gg/aqwzv2P Ein Hallo an alle Heli Flieger da draußen oder die es noch werden wollen.

@Wags @BIGNEWY @NineLine Gents, quick question for ED. I pre purchased the C-130 and noticed in early access there was going to be the ability to walk around inside the aircraft and out upon release. I was under the impression ED was waiting on updated tech to accomplish this. Does this mean we could see the same for the CH-47 in a closer upcoming patch, or is this functionality for the ED modules still a ways out?3 points
-
Yes, absolutely. Only(!) three years, which is actually quite fast, for such a complex DCS module. And considering they did basically dump all the existing code base AND the 3D model and started from scratch along the current development (see interview below), that's an incredible development pace.3 points

Can you (since we already have the helmet) also add a sun visor (on/off) for the player's seat in the C-130J? Of course, this may depend on the type of helmet, but simply putting on or taking off the sunvisor (with a darker screen effect) is also a good option. Some modules have this, such as the F-15E and MiG-29A FF, and other DCS modules will soon have this option. The model: Example of animation from MiG-29: Btw. Of course, it must be VR-compatible, as with other modules. Some also have animation (hand movement). The logic here might be quite simple: - NVG present on helmet - no sun visor (but glasses are possible on/off) - NVG removed from helmet - sun visor present on/off3 points

IMO, a pair of Rayban Aviator's should be an option and bindable control for all pilots in DCS.3 points

Helmets mess up their hair. I'm a civ (former Air Wing Marine) employee of a company currently working at Davis Monthan with a C-130 unit. USAF Herk bubbas don't wear helmets. Marine Corps Herk pilots don't either. Not even the Blue Angels Fat Albert guys and they are slamming that airplane around every demo. Please get rid of the helmets on the pilot models. You made a beautiful airplane but I just watched Ralfidude's video and it's the first thing I saw because it's the most unrealistic possible. Give them medium reg haircuts (with product) and David Clark headsets. Make it realistic.3 points

Hi Yoyo, many thanks for this remarkable campaign from a guy who just flew back from mission 3 in the sunset to the base listening to your perfectly chosen music! Your missions are so immersive that I never even think about using the f10 map and are really proud when I complete (for me) difficult tasks (like landing on the supply ship or hitting insurgents without crashing my kiowa ). I will definitely send you some bucks as a gratitude!3 points

Crews from Cannon and Hurlburt are very familiar with wearing helmets, agree there is no need to go back and forth, just highlighting its not just a British thing, as i said depends very much on the mission set and AO. I think it will be down the list however on dev priorities given its a combat sim.....3 points
-
Simply not true my friend that Herc pilots don't wear helmets. Depends, night time operations under NOD's or in hostile AO's and mission set they wear helmets, and the guys in the back. The very fact they are down low in small arms fire engagement and frag zones not to mention you need to have a helmet on to mount NOD's. Peacetime daytime flying is different and in peacetime yea sure units will fly just with bose headsets etc in the states. Note the trailer was done on the Afgan map, the herc is flown more than just US crews lol. RAF crews flew with helmets daytime and nightime during the Herrick years. To note British crews wear helmets whilst peacetime flying in the UK. It would be misleading to say the USAF crews didnt, because they did wear helmets, depends very much on their role, where they were operating from in Afgan/Iraq, the squadron and mission.3 points

This is complete fiction. I have every warbird (except the I-16) and every single one of them, including the Corsair, reacts to torque above stall speed. First you make a claim relative to stall speed and now you've changed that claim to be relative to 120kts. Which is it? Furthermore, we don't have any warbirds with greater than 2,000hp. The P-47 and F4U have engines that are rated to 2,000hp (no more) but the hp you actually get is going to vary greatly depending on altitude and power settings. All the other warbirds we have are in the 1,700 range and that's at WEP. Additionally, the criticisms using that "Taming the beast" video as evidence are blatantly ignoring the context in order to fit their own confirmation biases. First, that's a British clipped wing corsair. Then someone jumps in the standard non-clipped module and attempts to make a comparison but it's an invalid comparison because they're in the wrong aircraft. Second, in the real footage of landing practice you can see that there's no stall strip installed on the starboard wing (19:55), which further invalidates any attempted comparison to what's in that video to the DCS module. Third, the pilot interviews don't specify what timeframe these happened. Most likely it was pre-stall strip installation. Which brings me to the fourth point, the "flipping on it's back" is NOT caused by torque alone! It's caused by a combination of torque and the port wing stalling before the starborad wing, which is the whole reason we have that stall strip in the first place.3 points

The video description might shed some light there: Personally, I really enjoyed the video, but I wouldn't know if anything they did was procedurally wrong. Either way, "lame" isn't the type of constructive criticism I would have picked for the first live look we get at the new module. To each their own, I guess.2 points

So see this: They wear them, they wear them. This is evident in most videos related to night flying (due to the NVGs), but not only that, they are also used during the day because of the sun visor as well. For example, Hercules pilots wore helmets in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Of course, I'm not saying that 100% or most flights can be conducted without a helmet, especially in fully controlled and relatively safe conditions, but it's always a protection in the event of a hit and a forced landing. Therefore, it's not a mistake that the ASC designed the crew to wear helmets, although, as I wrote, it would have been nice to have the option of having the crew in the cockpit without them.2 points

I'm in the process of making comparison GIF for all aircraft. So far, I made 6 of them and I can tell you that: HUD boldness is not affected by resolution for the following aircraft: JF-17 (the result is very clean) A-10C Ka-50 (the result is poor because characters are much too bold, whatever the resolution) EDIT: AH-64 HUD boldness is indeed affected by resolution for the following aircraft: AV-8B F-16 F/A-18C EDIT: F-15E affected too, even though it's less striking I stand corrected about the AV-8B. This GIF method is the best I could find to demonstrate the issue (even to myself). Thanks for pushing me harder when it's needed, gents. Once I'm finished, I'll report all affected aircraft individually.2 points

While she may not appeal to all, I'm certain there is a good chunk of the DCS community that is ecstatic to get their hands on this beauty not to mention the entirely new market this could potentially open up for non-combat focused flight simmers! I really hope ASC are here to become the Heatblur if you will of the logistics and the non-standard module world, can't wait to see where these guys take us in this 4-engine beast. Thank you ASC for opening up a whole new world in DCS and thanks to both ASC and ED for pushing the boundaries of what DCS is and giving it a yet another layer of operations! I'd kill for a good C-2/E-2 module. Nothing like shooting a fat prop on and off a deck!2 points
