Anyone wanting to keep up more frequently, I would say track his discord. Apparently she is getting really close to release. To help VN out, I grabbed some of his latest screens from discord to put on this thread for him. @ViolentNomad Just FYI. null14 points

Apologies for the lack of updates here. The project is still alive, although work has slowed due to the real world unfortunately getting in the way. Modelling work is basically complete, we are looking for someone to join the team to help out with finessing the unwrap and doing the texture work. I’ll dump some more of the images that have been shared on our discord.11 points

I use the Object Free Camera par with View Slow up/down/left/right bindings to emulate walking in VR. I use also the Speed up/Speed Down binding to slow down the movement while "walking" around the aircraft. Sometimes i place myself inside a vehicle and go to the ramp by bus using the Object Free Camera. I do my walkaround in VR before every flight, having this feature in core DCS would be most welcome for me! Regards, F.4 points

I think the AI creators would do all of us a great turn by creating some dedicated Cold War "packs" for the major NATO and Warsaw Pact countries.4 points

The thread is about what we want to see in DC not what you're afraid of not getting. ED said they're not trying to copy BMS, they have their own vision, and that's good. Just wait and see, no matter how much time it takes. Don't let random DCS influencers influence your judgement.4 points

Yes, I will focus on fixing wmd7 bugs till the end of 2025 (probably overhaul since SDK is always updating with new features). Sorry that we are a small team and part time for DCS JF-17, I will try my best to enhance player's game experience during my free time.4 points

After Enigma's (insightful at times) "leaked" video last week: I'd just like to say, DCS still has no rival. It will NEVER be bug free (it is WAY too complex and comprehensive), never. Most of the negative comments about DCS underneath his video are absurd to me. The constant comparison to BMS is mind-boggling. If DCS was an F-22, BMS is a Cessna 152 by comparison. The Dynamic Campaign is really very cool, but you're talking about a platform that had one archaic map and one aircraft. Try pulling that off with 50+ high fidelity aircraft, dozens of different maps, with exceptionally high graphic standards, controllable ground vehicles, and wildly compl....oh, wait. ED is ACTUALLY trying to do just that! My only real criticism has been that they've spread themselves WAY TOO THIN! But I do not fault them for being ambitious. Have they blundered some 3rd party business? Yes, it is impossible to be a business for decades and not burn a bridge now and again. Can they reconcile those differences? Of course. At the end of the day, DCS is the only air combat simulator right now that is cutting/bleeding edge in my book. Period. Dot. Keep up the good work, team.3 points

A Dynamic Campaign A Save System and a reliable Replay System. I’ll believe this when I see it each one of those is 6-8 years work at the ED pace of development. Plenty of games have these features without spending a decade to develop them or needing such elaborate justification to include them.3 points

Still the 12 steps checklist. However at night. So what? Note the process of ID friendly location with the rope (not easy at all in DCS), then sparkle target. Night is essentially cheating, but if you don't do it right you could nail your pals on the ground.3 points

The entire point of the new SPO-15 model was laying the ground work for a higher fidelity RWR simulation across the entire game. ED has said it numerous times. You're acting like it's a permanent unique implementation that will never exist elsewhere.3 points

Are there any plans to make an "SA-4 Krug" or some more Cold War SAM's? I think it would be very interesting for Cold War Germany and would complete the russian Sam system, that we missing in the game, but ye love the work and thy for polishing DCS Ground modules that are old it was needed.3 points

First of all, I repeat again that by balance I am referring to having ALL systems of ALL aircraft modelled by same standards, meaning if MiG-29A RWR is modelled with flaws, then all other aircraft need to be done the same (but they are not), not to mention the flaws put into this RWR are put as the way the system was designed to function by default, and this is just wrong, I don't care what you believe in, I have noticed that you have that typical western bias against Russian/Soviet (and I think I am safe to assume Chinese also) anything, and second because of this you don't seem to add anything valuable with your comments.3 points

Since it was the easiest to make without properly modelling it, that's what it feels like at this current moment, and how most of this topic is being ignored. There are so many documents and SMEs that proves the complete opposite that what is implamented. I would rather have the "chaotic" readings in HPRF, and properply working RWR in MPRF Insted of being blasted by an aircraft that we don't even know that is locking. Currently a MiG-21 has more SA than a way more advnaced MiG-29. But hey, more importantly that all other jets have magic rwr that detects things that it shouldn't even, but the SPO can't even work with it's radar on (that was designed to operate it)3 points

Weapons is ED's responsibility. So, if ED makes ultra realistic RWR for MiG-29, they still could update it for other aircraft. Same for mentioned AIM-7 failures.2 points

Could be interesting, but would require the whole EW side of things in DCS to at least have a simple modeling that is reasonably consistent throughout the world. Not even talking about the whole multiplayer balance thoughts that I understand many people don't care about, but in any scenario such a concept would be wildly disappointing if it was only effective for a select few targets and others were completely immune.2 points

Hi guys, RSBN and PRMG works fine. On my upcoming mini campaign (Desert Bad Guys - Fulcrum vs), I installed RSBN/PRMG on all campaign airfields. All of them on DTC as well. it is already uploaded and just waiting release by the moderators. Remember to put and activate 3 Cars: - RSBN - PRMG Loc - PRMG Glidepath. Use a channel number to RSBN and for PRGM add 2 to the channel number. Good luck2 points

Honestly, currently the view angle for weapons is just horrible, its very close up and its from underneath, one has no reference point at all where the missile is, where its heading etc... so please change this to look something like in the 2 last screenshots (let the horizon be visible and move the view further out... please)2 points

There are 4 tracks in this thread to review. If they need more we can provide more, but first ED should tell us if the fixes on internal versions where moved to the latest update or not.2 points

If you're referring to the YT video I'm guessing you are.. Without diving into the actual "discussion", or I'd rather say "reactions" from the community (which for obvious reasons will probably not be allowed on this forum); from what I've observed and without judging, the general consensus in reactions of the community after seeing this leaked video, are definitely not complaints about bugs or comparisons with BMS But until someone dares to post a link here to said YT video (I don't ) it's unsure if we are talking about the same video. (My expectations are, that this thread won't have a long life )2 points

I've released v1.5.0. Highlights include: MiG-29 Full Fidelity support, SRS recording support, and some minor improvements to speech recognition quality. https://github.com/dharmab/skyeye/releases/tag/v1.5.0 On a personal note, development is slower now because of other stuff in my life being quite busy (my professional work, home improvement projects, non-digital hobbies, and family time). I hope to resume major development in the future but for now expect mostly maintenance rather than big new features. Yes, when you run local speech recognition on Windows or Linux, all available CPU cores are used, and newer, faster CPUs perform better. See the hardware section of the admin guide: https://github.com/dharmab/skyeye/blob/main/docs/ADMIN.md#hardware Some people have made forks of SkyEye that can use GPU acceleration on Windows and Linux, using CUDA or Vulkan. I'm interested in adding support for this in the standard build, but have two obstacles: 1. I don't have any nvidia GPUs to test CUDA 2. Limitations on my time mentioned above I would strongly consider using the OpenAI API, if possible; it's _really_ cheap and works great. Running on local CPU should be considered a last option if a Mac or the OpenAI API is not possible. No, SkyEye bypasses all SRS effects. SRS radio effects are client-side; you can customize them or turn them off in the official client. SkyEye uses custom code instead of an official SRS client, and simply does not implement any audio effects, instead directly converting the SRS network packets' data into the format used by the AI models.2 points

Which "roll angle"? According to the 29G manual, there's no difference between the two down buttons. That's what they're actually called: "One UP and two DOWN" buttons.2 points

As earlier mentioned, there is no "takeoff" position at all. The "takeoff" position button gives the exact same flap/slat settings as the "landing" position. This makes sense from a manufacturing perspective because it's easier to re-use MiG-21 cockpit parts or whatever instead of making an entirely separate switch box for the MiG-29. However what I don't get is why the indicator also shows a half-flaps settings when it's clearly been designed in the shape of a MiG-29 and has not been recycled from another aircraft like the flaps switch box has.2 points
-
What does it matter? Just use flaps up as your “up one level” and either take off flaps or landing flaps as your “down one level”. It doesn’t matter, as they are functionally the same.2 points

This was a simple misunderstanding. While developing, the test bed is Caucasus, Modern Era and Single Player. This is not to overwhelm the development of the DC. As you can imagine, different maps, eras and MP would add extra challenges that are better handled when the basics are done. It is NOT planned to limit it to one map, one era and SP. Hope this clears this up a little. Thanks.2 points

I would love such feature. Starting the mission outside of the aircraft and being able to do a walkaround would be super immersive. Also getting out of the pit after a mission to inspect the battle damage you've taken would be cool. Or maybe you walk to the runway to see your buddies land after a MP sortie... Would also gel well with the super carrier... Proper animations for climbing into (and out of) the cockpit would be icing on the cake, but even if it would just fade to/from black would be ok, if that would significantly simplify the development of such a feature...2 points

My concern after the Enigma video is that the dynamic campaign is going to be nowhere close to expectations. It has been in the works for half a decade. People like me have invested thousands into modules under the pretense that this is all going somewhere. If the dynamic campaign does not launch with industry leading leading AI, full logistics support, support for all maps, SP + MP, support for all modules and eras, many robust updates and fixed to multiplayer, good performance, slick interface... I mean, what I just said is the basic 101 requirements. My fear is that this is "unrealistic" and people are going to be disappointed vs BMS, a free mod for a very old game. It sounds like there is just not serious investment into the game side of this. "Development takes time" I am ok with, I understand this is a niche. But ED needs to be transparent here. The dynamic campaign has been in works for longer than most games, including games by small indie studios. I think an expectation that DCS is "close" to become a masterfully, fully fledged combat flight sim GAME exists and is reasonable. But... recent releases have been comically underwhelming. Comical, if it weren't so frustrating. The Mission save feature, seriously? I understand this is an old engine and will be more complicated to implement, but people have been asking for saved games for what, close to a decade? And what do we get, a half baked save state feature that can barely handle any complexity or cockpit states that feels more like a hack? We have been waiting years, and I can't just save the game in a Reflected campaign at will, with ease, no fuss? Or the Quick Action Generator, which can't even match the free briefing room? None of this is confidence inspiring as to what we are getting with dynamic campaign. If the enigma video is to believed, we are going to end up with a half baked dynamic campaign that wouldn't live up to 2 years of dev time let alone 6+ years. I agree that ED needs to hire a game manager and have a team that is solely dedicated to the development of DCS as a GAME, where the engineering team can operate independently and produce full fidelity modules for the ecosystem. The irony is the DCS side probably WOULD be more profitable if they actually did this, but there is a chicken-egg dynamic here. If the game side actually got the attention it deserved it would open up a lot more interest in module sales.2 points
