So as it stands with the MiG-21bis in DCS, we have non-editable (without breaking integrity check) RSBN and ARK beacons on the following maps through the use of an R_NAV_data.lua. Caucasus Nevada Normandy (why?) PersianGulf Syria TheChannel (again why?) We are missing an R_NAV_data.lua for the following maps: Kola Sinai I have attempted to create such a .lua from scratch for the Sinai map, but was ultimately unsuccessful. I figured with successfully adding more beacons through the R_NAV_data_Caucasus.lua that I could just make one for Sinai and well, nothing happened but a big waste of time. Now with Kola released (yes, I know, EaRlY aCcEsS), that now makes 2 maps with absolutely no navaids besides a map, compass, and stopwatch, making navigation in the MiG-21bis comparable to WWII, but for whatever reason, those maps HAVE those navaids. I don't understand what goes into making these navaids, nor do I understand why after all this time that Sinai STILL doesn't have any, and now another map doesn't as well. Both of these maps have quite a bit that can be done historically with MiG-21, but as it stands we just gotta muddle through. So is there a workaround we can do in the interim, or are we just up a creek without a paddle till judgment day is at hand? Is anything being done to fix this lack of navigation systems for these maps? And lastly, why isn't there an RSBN beacon that can be placed like the TACAN beacons through the mission editor?

Hello all, I'm editing a set of Training Missions for the MiG-21, set at Egypt, but with an emphasis on following real-world procedures as much as I possibly can. I have just finished the first one: Cold Start, and I'm halfway trough the second mission, on Taxi, Takeoff and Climb to cruise. I will upload it to User Files tonight, but in the meantime here is a video walk-trough of the first: The full mission runs 45-50 minutes, but 3 of its 5 chapters can be skipped by those users who prefer not to do complete checks. The mission is a bit verbose because the Cold Start is an ideal point to give a bit of background on the many Systems that the -21 has. The next missions will be much shorter. Please, If I have misunderstood parts of the procedure, let me know so I can fix them if feasible. Best regards to every fan of the Fishbed Update: 21/Nov/24 Today I finished testing my second mission, on Taxi, Take-off and Climb, it looks like this: As taking-off on the Fishbed requires some practice, during testing I decided to expand this mission a bit, adding a second client slot for a runway start, dispensing with the long taxi ... this way a new user can practice the take-off several times without spending too much time, this short version looks like this: For more immersion, I added a bit of random air traffic on the background, so you need to be careful to avoid collisions, like I did waiting for the helos to cross the runway before taking off Update: 11/Dec/24 Well, it took more time than I initially thought, but I've finally finished the third mission, here is how it looks like: I have uploaded these first three missions to the User Files section, here is the link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3342519/ the file is in OvGME format, and places both the missions and the RSBN mod for Sinai map on the Mig-21 folder of the DCS program folder. Be sure to employ a mod manager, since the RSBN mod is not IC compatible, so you may need to disable it before going to a multiplayer server. Edit: The RSBN Mod is no longer needed, as on February 19th Magnitude 3 added native RSBN & ARC data for the Sinai (and Kola) Maps. Also, these missions employ the superb Egyptian liveries created by @Kerbo 416 ... be sure to download them here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/unit-is-mig-21bis/user-is-kerbo416/apply/ Meanwhile, I'm starting to edit a weapons training mission .. for an easy start I have chosen a Gun Strafe training, hopefully it should not take too long to finish. Update: 16/Jan/25 It took more effort than I expected, but today I have updated this mission set with the addition of two more missions: M04 Re-starting engine in-flight. M10 Gun Strafing (my first weapons training for the -21) IMPORTANT: Please note that mission M10, REQUIRES the 476th VFG Range Objects Mod, which you can download here: https://www.476vfightergroup.com/downloads.php?do=download&downloadid=482 This is a very mature Mod that should be placed at /Saved Games/DCS World/Mods/tech/ and does not impact the Integrity Check, so it is MP-safe ... it looks like this once installed (my DCS folder at Saved Games is named DCS.296, yours will most likely be different): Here is a walkthrough of each: These videos were taken on the latest testing rounds, so I must say that the landing distance report feature that appears on the video, was removed from the mission because it gave erroneous values, not sure if its a problem with Sinai or with the Script, since this script worked fine on my last missions set on the Kola and Nevada maps. I will now work on both a Visual Landing mission, and on a Rocket attack training missions, hopefully they won't take as much time, I'm aiming for a release on the first week of February. Update: 4/Feb/2025 I've completed my two A/G Rocket missions, one for the S-24 and another for the S-5 rockets. Unfortunately, ED's User Files is giving me trouble at the moment and I had to open a Support Ticket for it, in the meantime this Mission Pack can be downloaded from my Cloud drive (ED fixed the issue and now the User File entry works correctly). As with my prior missions, you can start already in the air near the Weapons range, or start on a nearby Airbase with the engine already started. After expending all rockets, you can optionally practice the return to base, landing and Shutdown. The new missions are similar to the Gun Strafing one, and require the 476th VFG range objects mod in order to work. As always, you can press Spacebar to cut short the voiceovers, and on the flying sections you can use Time acceleration freely and the mission will return time to normal when needed. Here is a walkthrough of the S-24 mission: and this other video showcases the S-5 mission: Update: Feb 18th 2025: I've added a VFR landing & shutdown mission (M05), it looks like this: I intend to add later a Break-Circuit VFR Landing, as well as an IFR night landing one, but this last mission had me landing several dozen times while debugging, so I'm kind of burned out. So, the next mission will be a Radar Basics Training, followed by another on AA radar guided missiles. Update: March 6th 2025 I've completed the Radar Basics mission, this is a walk-through of it: I encountered several MiG-21 radar bugs while editing this, and it is a bit disheartening that no one from Magnitude commented on them when I reported on the Forum : Anyway, the training menu now looks like this: Cheers to all. As far as I understand the AOA indicator in cockpit is marked with degrees unlike bluefor aircraft. Therefore the range of available alpha should be 28° as the end of yellow zone and 33° as the end of red zone. When I pull this angles they are shown in the DCS infobar and Tackview as 15-17°. The issue is either with the FM itself or with how AOA of the module is perceived by DCS and Tackview.

Vielen Dank schonmal. Meine export lua: _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('lalalala'); Description = '3 Screens and L-R MultiMFD' Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 3840; height = 2160; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 16/9; }, LEFT_MFCD = { x = 3920; y = 1320; width = 390; height = 390; }, RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 4530; y = 1300; width = 390; height = 390; }, } UIMainView = Viewports.Center LEFT_MFCD = Viewports.LEFT_MFCD RIGHT_MFCD = Viewports.RIGHT_MFCD

The J/F-7E or any other double delta MiG-21F is a very unique plane to China and Pakistan as well as many other countries around the world. DCS is currently missing a MiG-21F model as there is a gap there which could be filled by a modernized Chinese export variant. You said you didn't want to do another MFD plane so I think this is the perfect choice. You have done the JF-17 so I am assuming that you already have connections with Pakistan aeronautical teams. I think that this project is thus realistic and since it's based on a Soviet plane there is demand for the plane. I hope you can let us know what you have chosen sooner than later. Thanks

Hello! I'm looking for the dimensions of the throttle and stick in the MIG-21 as a wish to build a functioning replica to be used with DCS. Has anyone any ideas on where I could get a hold of these dimensions or point me in a good direction? Thanks in advance!

Howdy, Can someone help me how to get the MiG21's radar window clean on a second screen? I use the standard export of the A10C and the radar is also displayed, but unfortunately it also overlaps with the mirrored screen. In the A10 and I think the Harrier it works. Actually just a cosmetic problem, but it bothers me a little now. My export lua: _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('lalalala'); Description = '3 Screens and L-R MultiMFD' Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 3840; height = 2160; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 16/9; }, LEFT_MFCD = { x = 3920; y = 1320; width = 390; height = 390; }, RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 4530; y = 1300; width = 390; height = 390; }, } UIMainView = Viewports.Center LEFT_MFCD = Viewports.LEFT_MFCD RIGHT_MFCD = Viewports.RIGHT_MFCD Thanks in advance

I'm trying to make a skin and I'm having lot of trouble with the nose numbers on description.lua file. I think it has to do something with the "Tac Number Nose Set 1" and those values. I'd like to use only two numbers that change in the mission editor but I just don't find the proper values for it. And is there anyway to make the font smaller? I only get scrambled textures or something that shows on the attached picture as I would like to get it to look like on the real picture. Could someone please help me?

Hello! I modified my MiG-21 module in `DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Input\MiG-21\joystick\default.lua` with few lines to extend the possibilities with two and three stage switches. The extension is working, but i wanted to put the configuration in my `Saved Games` folder to avoid the problems with the next update. I created the same path, but its seems not working. Have a working solution for this problem? Regards! Apoth

A Roarrrrrring Gooooood mooooorniiiiing DCS and especially MiG-21 maniacs! Plesase support me on these wisch: MiG-21bis that we have in DCS is equipped in RSBN/PRMG nav system. As we know the system is mobile - it's installed on URAL trucks and can be moved to a random location by road / offroad. So my wisch would be "To have a mobile RSBN/PRMG system for MiG-21bis, L-39C / L-39ZA Albatros, Mi-24, MiG-29, Su25, Su27 in DCS!" These way t-offs and landings would be possible from random locations - even in heavy weather conditions. As we know Warsaw Pact Pilots used to systematically practice such operations. I would be more than happy having a possibility to recreate it in DCS Virtual World. With my best regards. 303_Kermit

Noticed that the Mig-21 is the only module (as far as I am aware of) that doesn't have the option to bind Spyglass Zoom, VR Zoom and VR Reset. The only way to do so requires users to unload all mods, repair game and bind it through the UI Layer option to all modules as opposed to just the Mig-21 in the controls screen. Failure to do so will get users stuck in a loading screen on the control's menu while binding to the UI Layer. Can these control options be added so that the Mig-21 is more inline with the other available modules and friendlier for VR users.

None of the bombs I launch from the 21 work (at any launch parameters). All of them just hit the ground and do nothing (as the video shows). It works on all FC3 aircraft, just not in the mig21. Can anyone else confirm? Last time I used bombs was a month ago and they worked fine, so not sure if the recent updates did something or I did something in this mean time I can't recall. Have tried verifying files, reinstalling the mig only (haven't got the time to fresh reinstall the whole game yet). Dcs 2022 06 29 20 24 14 185_cmp.m4v

Good day, I am a new DCS World user and have been using the simulator for a month or two. An issue that consistently perturbs me is that of the black ventilation device that obstructs the Heads-up Display in the MiG-21bis and makes landing and takeoff difficult. I am unable to get rid of this device, that protrudes right into the lower half of the hud and has thus become a serious botheration to me. This problem persists in the Su-25T too. I wish to know, if this issue is rectifiable, and if yes: how? Please to reach out to me, if you know the solution. Thank you in advance. Warm regards.
