.............into the future. :)

I would say some where around 2016-2020 this sim will be a dream come true.

With new tech like Oculus Rift new LCD Screen and maybe a F-18 pit like this...........

if wife lets me.

I will be eternally happy.

One thing I noticed is that in the Caucasus screenies in EDGE, the engine uses "old style" clouds while in the NTTR screens we have had new clouds for a long time.

Are the new clouds simply not in EDGE yet and all we have seen from the NTTR (recently) is not actually rendered in EDGE? Or will the old map keep its trusty clouds?

Aren't there multiple weather conditions?

What you see might be two different conditions, so it can not be compared that easily.

I mean the grapical representation, the cloud models so to speak. You could be right, but while in the Caucasus screens there are those that look exactly like the current ones every single time, on screenshots of the new NTTR I did not see them even once, irrespective of weather condition. I think SkateZilla mentioned somewhere that EDGE would/could improve all things related to rendering/graphical representation. Perhaps the current state of integration of EDGE does not yet include the new clouds... That´s why I´m asking.

NTTR Screens so far have been exclusively from the Terrain Viewer tool, not from within EDGE.

The clouds you see in current EDGE screenshots may not be representative of clouds in NTTR.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Come let's eat grandpa!

Thx.

(I was under the impression that the tiny NTTR screenshot from the newsletter looked as if it was made in EDGE, although not much is visible. The lighting and everything looks much more refined than before.)

Honestly I had to ask Wags, but it is from the terrain builder...

Theres one thing that makes me sad about this newsletter.

Not a single mention of the MiG-29. =(

I'm sure after the Su-27 PFM comes out, we'll start hearing about the Mig-29. Unless the Su-33 PFM takes precedence. But the Mig-29 cockpit and external model should be worked on before the Su-33 IMO.

Maybe they will surprise us with DCS: Mig 29 at some point down the line ;) Plenty of great stuff on the way to keep me happy for a while, but it would be nice to see this eventually.

The Su-33 probably won't be improved until after the F/A-18C since AFM/PFM does not currently work well with carriers.

Definitely, as much as I like the Su-33 I can't see them doing the flight model for it until they have working carrier ops first.

And here people thought landing a PFM F-15C on a Med/Short Runway was hard.....

I cant wait to see the crashes of people landing PFM Hornets, lol...

I think the MiG-21 will be the crash queen for a good while. Over-rotate that big delta wing trying to correct a sink rate instead of aggressively adding power and they'll just be mushing straight into the approach lights..

Gonna be fun!

yeah, the -21 will be an unstable pony at high AoA...

Has there ever been a PFM/PSM Aircraft modeled in a Naval Sim?, I wanna see how people react to carrier landing difficulties.

If you can land a Dora without any "helpers", you can land every plane on a carrier.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9800X3D, System-RAM: 64 GB DDR5, GPU: nVidia 5090, Monitor: LG 38" 3840*1600, VR-HMD: Pimax Crystal/Super, OS: Windows 11 Pro, HD: 2*2TB and 1*4 TB (DCS) Samsung M.2 SSD

HOTAS Throttle: TM Warthog Throttle with TM F16 Grip, Orion2 Throttle with F15EX II Grip with Finger Lifts

HOTAS Sticks: Moza FFB A9 Base with TM F16 Stick, FSSB R3 Base with TM F16 Stick

Rudder: WinWing Orion Metal

If the FCS is correctly modelled then landing the Hornet on either a runway or carrier will be reasonably easy. The difficult bit will be hitting the small target with the correct alignment and glide path, not flying the jet itself.
