Bloodhound57 Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 (edited) ... or else? Quite honestly, nothing wrong with waiting patiently like normal people would without constantly asking for some form of communication. We already know what's coming, the only thing left for us - the community - is to wait for it. I'm sure your opinion is much appreciated. Just like the pages of this thread where people give theirs. "Or else?" LOL, it's a computer simulation. Life will go on, I'm sure of it. Communication is something that was lacking and something that most of the comments of these 196 pages talk about. shagrat Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 I've certainly had my share of dumb arguments, but I did not and would not advocate a SP release if that meant MP as a whole would stop working simply because of an SP release. That would qualify as a great big game breaking bug. Now if MP stopped working because people who were told not to use it MP went ahead and used it MP anyway.... well, that's why they put childproof caps on medicine containers and those little stickers on the hair dryer telling you not to use it in the shower. Yep. Exactly the point I was talking about. shagrat Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Straw man argument. Nowhere was a requirement for devs to spend hours on these forums mentioned in that post. Besides, that's not a dev job anyway. There wouldn't be these constant requests for info if the salient points were put in a sticky for people to easily find. That wouldn't take much time at all to do.You mean like the newsletter and Mini-Updates? TheGuardian Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 With all due respect, someone asked a question, and I gave an answer, I just happened to be on Skype with Nick at the time, it wasn't a statement or an announcement, it was me answering someone. I discussed a little bit longer there, then went and hung out with the family, had dinner and played a little Wolfenstein: The New Order, and went to bed, it was Saturday (I think) after all. I spend a lot of time here, on Hoggit, on Discord, on FB, on Steam, etc. I try to answer as much as I can when I can, where I can, that happened to be the perfect storm, and I happened to answer that user's question. No one place is any less deserving of a question being answered, Hoggit has a huge user base after all, and honestly, the person I was answering was asking the same questions here about the same time and I was confident in the thought he would share here as well, and he did. I still feel we are one of the best in the business when it comes to talking and communicating with users, and I am not the only one available here or anywhere else to answer questions. Why hasn't there been a big update about the issue, because it's still in active development and testing, I am sure something more official will come when they are more satisfied with it.\ Thanks guys. I don't think anyone is saying only share information here. I know I am not anyway. However, one would think that the primary source of information should be ED's webpage/forums. I get it, you guys can't control the narrative over on Hoggit. If misinformation starts to spread over there, you can only combat it with posts. While here, clearly spelled out rules, "Our way, or the highway". I say that with respect, really I'm totally cool with the rules this forums has, but rules spell it pretty clearly. Now, with respect to your statement of being one of the best in terms of talk with the community and communication............well you might be halfway right. I have only been a apart of a few other communities centered around gaming and I do think ED is pretty good, maybe the best at TALKING, not so much communicating. Yep, gonna bring it up again, the 13th-14th was in no way the best communication, even the lead up to the Friday before Newsletter. "Any news about the SC release next week?", "More news in the newsletter." Meanwhile, no news in the newsletter about SC release, only dev updates. "WINK WINK, Newsletter" .All we got all day of the 14th, "We will have an announcement soon" , "We'll be with you later today.", "Answers are coming, please be patient." , "Does this feel like a normal release guys, no. We will have more information soon (Oh look another hoggit one)." , "We are going to make an announcement tomorrow.", "Kate wants to give the information herself." You guys are great at talking, but not very forth coming with any information. It was pretty flipping evident what was not going to happen, but ED would say it, would end the BS post about the 15th release. If you think that is being the best, clearly we can end this conversation right now, cause it ain't going anywhere productive. Now before the patient waiting heros of fandom start, I DO NOT think you guys have to make every post, giving breakdowns of when this dev is going to the bathroom, when he is working on the LSO station. That is dumb, and it is very off point for what I'm asking/saying. This release felt wrong. It felt wrong the week before. Nothing went the way previous releases have went. NOTHING. Honestly, you know what might have stopped a lot of the BS posts the past week. on the 13th "Guys we aren't going to be releasing this week, some bugs popped up in testing that demand fixing before we release. We are working on getting some info together for you guys, but it may take a few days. We as disappointed as you are. More info to come!" That is how you start being the best, stop being reactive and get proactive. I may be completely wrong. I may be a fool. But how can a post like that convey the wrong message. Yes, you guys give us info, details, insights about different point of views that are very important. But you can also be very wishy washy. I'm am only asking for continued improvement in communication, not a re-write of the rules or procedures. But if ya'll feel like you're one of the best, then there is no need to listen to fools I suppose. Can we also stop with the, "Spent time with family", "Had to have some time with the family", "Played a little of this or that" posts. I think we all get that you have a life outside of this, and I don't think anyone is demanding you devote 100% of your time to ED. If they are I'm sorry you have to put up with that crap. But to keep throwing that up in posts makes you sound condescending and gives the feeling you don't give a damn what we say and are posting to shut us up. May not be what your trying to do, but it just isn't a good look.
Admiral189 Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Is there a discussion on whether the SC will be released this week? Thanks in advance!
shagrat Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Perhaps, if they'd actually included any up to date information on the carrier, which they don't.What "up to date info"? Deck sliding is back, Carrier speed calculation supposedly identified as root cause ( as mentioned in the Patch notes) and any other info I've read was a lot of "if, could, may, depends on..." etc. that would not meet, at least my expectation of an official status update. So it seems the problem is the perception that ED is withholding "news" and "updates" from us? Then, again, they might not want to share speculations about potential fixes, before they actually are tested reliable and really fixed it, as the other half of the community will start grabbing pitchforks and grind the knives if ED dares to talk about a fix and it turns out like the last update(s) that caused additional issues? Damned if they do, damned if they don't! :dunno: Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)
Weasel Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Is there a discussion on whether the SC will be released this week? Thanks in advance! This is very unlikely as we still didn't get any other update about a release. Latest status is still april-may but I don't expect a release still in April

It's all buried in this 200 page thread. There is no one good central repository of information of the status of any module. Exhibit A: Is there a discussion on whether the SC will be released this week? Thanks in advance! This is it I'm afraid. I wouldn't count on it coming out this week.

I read this forum a lot, so I know many corners here and I am able to pick some good info on what is going on but newcomers... they just ask and get info from us ;) I mean you can't read anywhere official that new module get released silently to wednesday's beta, there is news on friday about it and you can have it on stable some weeks later (or months). Oh, and to keep the thread on topic - I hate new night images for not having aircraft and crew shadows. I hope it will not be omitted. So what information do you feel was posted buried here that qualifies as an official update? Of course there is no new release date as they did not announce a new release date after the old release date blew up in their face and they still work on the fix. I am sure we will see a "release date" on release, as giving an estimate that may or may not work out is a bad idea with all the pitchforks out? You put the straw man argument "it's buried in this thread" argument to force some answers you personally would like to see confirmed, I guess.
