Like the title indicates, blood ! :)

When we shoot-down an opponent and kill the other pilot I would expect to see some blood splashed on the canopy.

This is a flight simulator ... gore has no place here and I’m glad that ED has not gone on that route ... there are other games for that.

I don't see a reason for it, while it would be historically accurate, it would just not be needed.

Yes, the illogical ESRP ratings etc exist, nothing can be done for that. Making, you can destroy whole vehicles full of people and it is less than one pilot guts splattered on canopy, because gore.

Only Blood? Come on. An enemy Soldier without his feet crouching on the battlefield. His intestines behind him. More Fantasy please.

(This is sarcasm) No Blood for me. A dark Screen after a crash is enough. Dead is dead. This is not Battlefield Z.

Just out of curiosity:

Apart from making gruesome videos, what is a scenario in which you would even get to see that effect?

Even when dogfighting very close you are most likely to be seeing the enemy plane from behind, even in a head-on engagement by the time the smoke clears. Seems easier to just add that particular special effect to your video or screenshot afterwards.

Watching the latest video from GR (taking off from SC without catapults), I'd add that we *definitely* need collision with ground personnel to go with the gore (based on that video apparently you can drive "through" them for now). Let these yellow jackets fly over board when we hit them because we forgot to brake, let them run and scream while burning because we lit them on fire with our afterburner, like Denetor falling from the top of Minas Tirith. Yes, let's make GTA: Super Carrier.

Or not. I'm sorry but for 99,5% of my kills I am too far to see the cockpit in detail (also, VR, so...). So even if ED spent time and energy for that, I would practically never see it, and I am sure the same would apply for most other players. So why waste their precious time?

Apart from visual gore effects, pilot wounding and bleeding out is something that should be simulated IMHO.

I'm not sure if DCS is maybe already doing that? In all my time of playing DCS I encountered one or two situations that seemed like I was bleeding out: After I recieved some battle damage my vision started to slowly get darker and darker untill I fully blacked out after a 5-10 minutes. It definitely wasn't hypoxia, as I was flying very low.

Ridiculous thread and a waste of time given there are far higher priorities to get sorted in game that actually matter. Fixing CTD's oh and a working netcode for one. ED have realised this hence their post's about sorting 2500 bugs.

If you want to see what gore looks like, join the forces. It's not something to wish, celebrate or glorify in a game.

Most of the stuff that DCS shows isn't something you want to experience IRL, celebrate or glorify. Some things are even banned in many countries (like cluster munitions). Still, they are simulated in DCS, because they are relevant to the simulation of air combat.... as is pilot wounding. Especially in WW2 this was often the cause for the loss of aircraft, where the aircraft was still airworty, but the pilot was not, after getting hit. So I think it is as relevant to simulate pilot wounding as is any other part of the damage model.

Does it need to have gory special effects for this? No, definitely not.

Quigon respect your post especially regarding warbirds and agree damage model especially does need review in terms of pilot being mortally wounded during flight from gunshot wounds.

Just meant we don't need the proverbial claret arterial spurts and limbs missing, or half a skull hanging open or burned alive that some would seek re gore.

Isn't pounding part of the gore he asked for?

For me... no gore, not needed, there's gore enough already in the world.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

I cant help think the OP is tongue in cheek but I will take something from it that I have frequently wished for and that it the interaction with the 'world'.

Buildings are pointless and so are civilians.

I ran a small mission today to cluster bomb two BMPs on one bridge and two on another who were 'supposed' to be preventing Civilians from entering the island.

Probably 100 civilian vehicles drove through the burning hulks and past the Redfor training camp on the island.

I dont need to see burning Civvies or troops hanging out of the BMP melting for immersion, but their current ambivalence to the World around them is pitiful.
