Thank you for these (new) information. :)

I hope the Nevada Map sets a new standard for 3rd party maps, like DCS: A-10C which set a new standard for 3rd party modules!

It will ! and not just a new standard for 3rd party maps. but a standard for all flightsims scenery to aspire to ;) atleast i think so and if the screenshots are anything to go by.

I imagine the orbx gang would happily rise to that challenge but I hope you are right

Also, If I remember rightly, I purchased the A10c module just after it was finalised.... how much will I have to pay for Nevada? or will you give it to those of us that own all modules etc?

You didn't pre-purchase so you will need to pay what ever the full price will be... which is not yet determined... and as said clearly already only those that pre-purchased the beta will get it for free... so owning all modules does not fit into this if you haven't pre-purchased the A-10C beta. :book:

Hey Ali,

Don't want to sound pessimistic, but that's a photo...just looks too good to be true.

MAC

That photo is a joke, not a screenshot, indeed.

What is projected Nevada scenery release date?

Pardon if this has been asked a million times, but curious about the subject... I only stop in here occassionally...

I remember a thread on the Nevada scenery and it looked promising... Have the developers ditched the project? Understanding was that it was supposed to use new DX11 features and speed FPS while looking better... Is that the gist of it?

catch up here :)

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80468

A few items to reiterate:

1- Much of the Nevada map is done, but aspects of it could certainly change between now and release.

2- The original effort was done by a third party, but for various reasons, that effort did not work out and the Eagle team basically had to re-start it from scratch.

3- Due to the massive number of ground objects, elevation mesh detail, and texture sizes, a new image generator (IG) had to to be created in order to run it at more than single digit frame rates. Creating a new IG is a huge undertaking and it takes a lot of time. More so than anything else, this has been the reason behind the delay.

4- There has been no change in our plan to make this map available for free to those that purchased the A-10C beta.

5- Given the nature of the map, I would imagine that most missions will revolve around training, but certainly large Red Flag type campaigns are also possible.

6- We have no ETA at this time.

When there is a change to any of the above, there will be official news of it.

Latest on Nevada Map?

Haven't heard or read any thing about the Nevada map lately. What's up with it?

As far as I know, EDGE is still being optimised. Nevada is for the most part done, but the new engine needs more work so it can function up to an acceptable level for game play.

Good things take time.

any news on Nevada

Now that we have 1.2.3, would be great to get an update on the Nevada project. Has there been any news recently, like screenshots etc.?

What he said is that Nevada map is almost done, however finishing it requires EDGE.

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.

The Current map has Bump mapping in places. Parallel mapping would be cool to have.

Nate

Yeah imagine if parallax mapping can be added to EDGE...we can get some nice ground level detail...not to mention additional detail on objects.

DCS world and EDGE

Not sure if this has been asked before or not but here goes. Once EDGE is released does ED plan to re-do the Georgian theater in EDGE quality? Will it be able to port over or will they have to start from scratch?

Discuss....

Considering there's no carrier ops in the Nevada desert (unless there are carriers on Lake Tahoe now? :D ) and DCS F-18 is on the way, I would hope Caucasus gets a facelift.

Since we have no way of knowing what EDGE quality actually means at this point, nor how much work is involved in making a map of such quality (consider the sheer size of the caucasus theatre), it really is hard to say anything meaningful on the subject.

A complete remake sounds unlikely to me due to the amount of work needed, but if they manage to put in a higher resolution terrain mesh (prettier mountains and hills), some nice new terrain textures, new forest model and maybe even fix the mismatch between road- and elevation mesh (notice how you sometimes drive under the road?), then that alone would do wonders.
