  1. Hello everyone. Below, please find the results of further tests of the upcoming Caucasus Redone 2022 pack. I am still working on the summer set of textures: colours, blending, etc. Once I'm happy with it, I'll move to other seasons. The aim is, as always, to make the map look richer in terms of details. I think I have already managed to achieve that but there is always some room for improvement. What I am particularly happy about is the fact that now I can change the gamma of the buildings and trees with one line in the .lua file. I'll keep you guys up to date with further changes! Best, Barthek

  9. If someone got the talent it is 100% worth learning basic computer hardware stuff. You don't need a MSCE certificate to build, run and service your very own rig. It also pays if you understand the OS a bit more than average joe, again, you don't need to be a dev to properly configure windows. Those, who for what ever reason cannot put their minds and hands into this, pay guys like me so that their stuff runs as intended and that someone also tells them what it can all do, what makes sense and what better not ;). Those who can answer this to themselves save a ton of money and get a faster pace in getting things done whenever a PC is involved. It's like owning a car, either you can fix it yourself or you need a garage and have to pay. It's easier to fix a PC than a car, hands down.

  10. While they are doing this, it would be a good idea to add dates to aircraft liveries as well so they can work with historical mode. For example in the F-4 if the date is set to the late 1980s we might have the three tone grey.

  18. For predicting the raw single-player fps performance, Heaven Benchmark comes relatively close. When you gain 3% fps in heaven, you will likely see +3% in DCS as well. Mind though, that DCS has several performance killers, that doesn't scale as linear. Heavy Scripts, lots of AI, multiple video feeds and so on and so forth.

  19. At the time Casmo and Barundus put out the introduction videos of the Kiowa Warrior, it looked really close to release. But then the lead designer had a medical incident and was put off from work on the project for long time. Luckily the lead designer could recover after a long time. Then Polychop decided to add two more variants of the Kiowa of different eras for the release, what is quite unique for a DCS module.

  20. Break it down like this: A - OG batches, 60GR-75GR up through '73. Test/Eval squadrons, VF-124, VF-1/2. Gahbage IRSTs, different beaver tails and big reinforcement before being changed. - Main production A, 80GR-end of 110GR in '81. Added a nose probe in 90GR. Includes your Final Countdown/1st Sidra jets (-90 and -95s from VF-41 and 84), Top Gun jets, and 2nd Sidra jets (an -85 and -90GR). - Late production A, end of 110GR- in around '81 to last 140GR As delivered in 1988 to VF-201 and VF-202. Added jammers by intakes/glove and new beaver tail with jammer antenna. The bulk of the jets that survived to OEF/OIF and got LANTIRN etc. 1996+, trickle down of upgrades similar to B, LANTIRN, PTIDS through '98/'99, DFCS and ALR-67 by 2001. A+ / B / B (U) - First new and converted A+ around '86, VX-4 and testing through '88. 24, 211, 74, 103, 142, 143 start converting around '88-'90. Basically A with GE engines, new jammers, and new ALR-67 RWR. - Name changed in '91 to "B". That's about it. - B (UPGRADE) through 90s into 00s, various upgrades and phases for things like digital BUS, A2G, Lantirn, PTID, DFCS, GPS/JDAM, HUD. D Built or converted from As, 1990-1993. That's basically it. Got PTIDs as A/B squadrons converted or shut down, got GPS/JDAM around 2002 cause already a digital jet. Two good resources: Mike Crutch's CVW Volume One book/PDF, breaks down each BuNO and its squadron history with exceptions being the RAG and non-line squadrons. But you can sometimes see if they went to or from there. It's a good way to figure out when jets from those "blocks" hit the fleet squadrons. Second is this site: https://modelingmadness.com/review/mod/us/usn/fighter/gar14adiff.htm They are some big IFs, but ones that didn't necessarily receive an immediate "no" when asking if possible or to be considered. Animation argument would be one way, but making them both pods means like the Lantirn you could actually have them tied to the functions. Maybe if I send IronMike and Cobra enough snacks and pint size hookers it could happen, who knows. They have to add the ALQ-126 anyways, easier to add than remove.

  22. These are also cool. When I was in the army during the 94 Olympics, the drivers had a contest of who dared to drive through the thickest tree(s), downhill beside the ski jump. A fair share of international ride-alongs didn't approve, but it was just too late.

  28. It's one of the most interesting aircraft in the lineup IMO. Challenging to fly and iconic. The devs are working on an update (or will be in the near term), but there's no reason not to get it now.

  29. I agree with everything written above. It's not a perfect module, but pretty much none are in DCS. The MiG-21 has a lot of character and is fun to operate because you really have to work a little bit as a pilot and actually fly that thing. Odd things are the gunsight which is a little bit off, some switches/systems aren't (fully) implemented, and FM-wise take-off and landing behaviour are a little bit annoying as the DCS MiG-21 - like some other DCS modules - tends to be glued to the ground, so performing a proper take-off rotation or a smooth landing on the main wheels and perfoming aero braking isn't working well/at all. Further development / bug fixing seems somewhat slow, but at least it does still get some attention by the devs, even though they are quite busy with developing new modules. You should definitely get it if you are into Soviet aircraft and like steam gauges and lots of switches to play with and planes that really need to be flown in an old-school way.

  31. If you're into coldwar era aircraft of course you should. Despite some critiques FM is quite nice, challenging but manageable after a little training which is a big part of the appeal. Systems wise apparently it isn't perfect, it's still a 2014 module birth from a mod and that's there, but if you aren't that nitpicky it doesn't really matter, it's nice to fly, systems do their job and are nice to manage, it's nice to study manuals/videos, which you're plenty of, telling you how to master the beast. In short, IMO it's really fun to fly and master to the day, plus everything told upwards.

  32. It is overwhelming to start to build it yourself for the first time. you run into things like Motherboards and if they are next gen ready or will not be. all motherboards need the firmware updated and cmos Bios setup to get the most out of the parts you just installed. Power supply will be looked at and over looked and we all do it different but I always over build on my Power supply because I Know I will make changes down the road. Crazy but I have a 1000w Power Supply I run a Power hungry RX 9600XT Red Devil GPU, VR, LED, Liquid cooling Large Fans, The Case is important there is junk ones so your going to educate yourself on them and airflow. Memory can't just be put into any memory slot so your going to be forced to educate yourself on your motherboard a lot. From the front of the case to hooking up all the wires to the motherboard for start button, reset button, USB ports, lights (Option) Wire management in the case. Crazy stuff to think about when it comes to how it looks because stock power wires are ugly so you can buy fancy clean looking wires and on and on. For the First time if done right and setup right who cares what it looks like as long as it is setup right. then Hard drives I have 5, 2 NVMe, and 2 SSD, and a WD Black. Games are crazy big then if you do a lot of video or digital art and Sound file editing the junk piles up fast. You need to go into a DIY project knowing ahead of time all the looking up reading and educating you are going to have to make yourself do if no one has opened your eyes to the amount of all this stuff. The Crazy Part is it is so easy to do IF YOU KNOW what NOT to do wrong and HOW TO DO IT RIGHT. Best of Luck I built my first Computer over 25 years ago. I still have to Educate myself every time I build a new Computer. I am always Shocked by what I need to learn. Sometimes you pay more to build a DIY unit but ODDS are nobody is building one like it better. Manufactured Computers are over priced and corners Cut that you did not CUT in your build. Good Luck and Enjoy WATCH THE "GAMERS NEXUS" Videos make them your best friend for Educating information.

  36. Normally, I'm not a fan of people putting words in my mouth, but this time, I'm going to allow it: You have been mathematically incorrect at every attempt in this thread, not by simple rounding or carrying error, but by orders of magnitude that a fundamental understanding would catch on even back of the napkin math. And like your continual mistatements, halftruths, and outright fabrications ("airplanes are disposable"), at no point in this conversation have I said a Tomcat would sustain 7Gs worth of load for in excess of a minute in this thread. I'm saying it now, categorically: A F-14 Tomcat, with the necessary altitude and entry speed, and within its lifetime expected hours and maintenance, would have zero issue sustaining 7.5 G for in excess of one minute, and Mistang- as evidenced by your own work in this thread, there isn't a single thing you are capable of providing to disprove that fact. Not mathematically- as you have repeatedly failed to do, not documentarily. The airframe and crew would absolutely survive that experience; your ego and contentions, not so much. You should try it sometime, bro.

  39. This is nonsensical. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the kinetics of a turning aircraft. And the math is wrong.

  40. Yes they are planned. Currently work on the helo pilots is in progress, and after the fixed wing pilots It is planned, but I can not give any ETA not all pilot models are the same, they have many different characteristics, so it can take a lot of time We would certainly like all modules to have pilot bodies but that depends on time and resources. As mentioned above there is a lot of work involved with the pilot bodies, it just depends what tasks the art team have and the resource available at the time.

  41. Hey guys, I'll need to update this thread - but also decided to go ahead and make workarounds for M6 and 12 for the time being, as I am not sure when the Tomcat fixes are going to make it... so if they are not in the next update, I will arm the F-14s with dumb bombs for 6 and 12 temporarily so you guys can finish them. Thanks for the thread about the freezes and crashes - it indeed seems to be caused by the Tomcat, but here I can't do anything about it so we will have to wait for the fix!

  42. Here is what I'm using. Definitely went overkill for this one but I can't say no to new projects and the huey is still my favorite thing to fly in dcs. Cyclic and collective are the real thing from the aircraft. Buttons are all wired up and working as well as the axis for everything including the twist throttle. Had to edit the default.lua file to make some of the switches behave correctly and now I can go from cold start to flying without touching the keyboard (except for closing the doors) There is also a custom radio box and systems control box. the smaller one needs labels but the radio box is soon gettin replaced with some custom panels to include a real UHF control head that I hope to make work in the sim. The whole set up makes flying the huey a dream! Probably the closest I'll get to flying the real thing.

We are getting new content, its optional, you make the choice as the consumer. Im looking forward to the terrain and wish Checksix all the best.
