  1. DCS: Tornado Introduction DCS: Tornado is the epitome of the multirole aircraft jointly developed by Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. This two-seater, twin-engine, swing-wing multirole fighter was built in three variants, one of which is the Interdiction/Strike (IDS) variant. Powered by 2 RB-199 MK103 engines, the IDS was developed to meet the then NATO doctrine of low-level attacks against enemy airfields and fixed-positions, in any weather, and at any time of day. AviaStorm's goal is to develop the best simulation of a 1989 German IDS Tornado for DCS. Their team has decades of experience in the simulation & gaming industry, and it boasts secured access to many resources (engineers, pilots, WSO, technicians and museums) that will provide them the necessary information.

  4. Klar.

  6. What's new in V6: Fixed normals that caused dark patches. Especially visible in FLIR. Reduced flickering further. Improved shapes of some trees. Fixed normals. Reduced flicker

  8. Yes, Yes! YES! Tornado incoming! I'm excited for all recent announcements, but this one simply rocks. And it's the best variant possible being IDS from 1980s proper for Cold War scenarios Fulda Gap and Desert Storm and from the time when it was on the top of the foodchain in his domain! And the enviroment it was design to operate still existed. With mechanical moving map and half-analog avionics requiring skill and engaging to operate. I wish AviaStorm a fantstic premiere in DCS!

  9. I'll echo the confirmations in here that the Black Shark is certainly worth the money. I've been playing it since it came out in 2009 and it is still in my top 3 favorite modules, the AH-64D and F-16C being the other two. I say top 3 not because the Ka-50 is in 3rd place, but because the Ka-50, AH-64 and F-16 are my favorites for different reasons because of their own unique qualities. To me, the Ka-50 and the AH-64 are like two sides of the same coin, with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. What makes the Ka-50 so interesting to me is how the aircraft avionics automate some of the piloting and targeting tasks to compensate for the lack of a second crewmember. It can still be a handful to operate at times, like most attack helicopters; but once you get the flow down and develop the muscle memory for flying, targeting and shooting, the Ka-50 can feel very natural. Even though the module is the oldest in DCS (excluding the Flaming Cliffs line-up from LOMAC), I'm still looking forward to Black Shark 3 and whatever enhancements it will bring to an already fun and polished module. (Full disclosure, I've only joined the ED team in the recent months, so my views on the Black Shark are from using it as a DCS player for well over a decade. Not trying to advertise a product, just being honest)

  10. A blessing it is 'only' a 1989 variant IMHO. We have enough mid-00s options. Very glad they went GR1 rather than GR4 (or god forbid - the ADV).

  11. You forgot Kormoran (and maybe even HARM). Also it can provide AAR too, although that's not a weapon.

  16. Exactly, Cold War era Fulda Gap 1980s variant = penetrating enemy airspace at low altitude at night or bad weather, with terrain following radar still operable and mechanical map with INS, avoiding Soviet interceptors, evading SAMs and aiming iron bombs to the target inside AAA fire or trying to allign for very low altitude non-pop up attack with BL755 cluster munition dispensers over Soviet armor protected by Shilkas, then trying to lose the pursuers inside some dark valleys cooperating with navigator on a way back. Very much what you see in a Gulf War Tornado pilots memories and mission descriptions. Not 2000s era last Tornadoes with disabled radars, releasing very long range automatically guided cruise missile from 100-300nm from the target with zero risk, cruising at 30,000tf and RTB.

  17. FANTASTIC…!!! the Tonka and the Kola map are going to get some heavy heavy, use…
    4 points
  18. Yeah, kind of. If you use the classic loadout of x3 Mk.83 used during Gulf War it's pretty identical. ADV is a totally different machine. It's an AA platform with Skyflash missiles, different AA radar instead of the AG one, different engines, different cockpit...

  19. Indeed, that isn't a balanced fight. So, why did the mission maker match up an Eagle with an Albatros? That's on them, specifically. Now, take a look at the MAC line-up: F-15C Eagle Su-27 Flanker B Su-33 Flanker D J-11A Flanker B+ MiG-29 Fulcrum A MiG-29S Fulcrum C A-10A Warthog Su-25A Frogfoot Su-25T Frogfoot F-86F Sabre MiG-15bis Fagot F-5E Tiger II MiG-21bis Fishbed L-39ZA All aircraft already modeled in DCS world, but simplified. There's a reason why that is: By ED's own statement, a FC3-level module takes almost as much time as a full fidelity one. Heatblur's Cobra corroborated this when the topic of an FC3 level JA-37D came up. They still have to do flight model, accurately. They still have to construct the external model and still have to make the cockpit. They still have to do a lion's share of the work and then they expect a fraction of the return because it'll be in a bundle of others like it? There's why you don't see more. I'm afraid the days of FC3 level modules may be over. Combined that with current global tensions, there's no way in hell we're seeing a Su-35 or later Fulcrum in the immediate future, even as an FC3-level add on.

  20. His videos on the subject were quite awful. He went into the merge with one engine already pulled and often had the wrong engine pulled for the situation. Only occasionally did he have the right engine pulled in the right situation and that is when it looked cool and made him look good. If you are going to do this you should keep both engines in AB and pull one out of AB only when already at low speed and otherwise in conditions where the rudder isn't enough. Nothing he did in his video was unachievable using rudders with occasional cross control lateral stick.

  22. Sorry you feel that way, but not liking my answer isnt going to change the fact that the work is in progress and when we are ready to share more news we will. There seems to be some here on the forum who keep asking the same question and expecting a different answer, and that is not going to happen. Thanks

  23. As per title, our question is what kind of aircraft you would like to see on DCS World in future. Currently we have many ideas on our future projects but we are curious to know what are your thoughs and whishes. With the announced scenarios, DCS World is becoming more and more exciting and the possibilities of developing projects that fully fit into certain historical contexts become more and more numerous day after day. Below are some projects we would like to work on in the future, but we would also like to hear your opinions and suggestions. Attention, the projects listed below are not confirmed, nor have they yet been agreed with the ED. EDIT -> Check the pool

Verzeiht mir also die Ungenauigkeit.

  25. DCS: C-130J Announcement Although the C-130 first entered service nearly 70 years ago, the airframe has been continually updated, culminating with the delivery of the J model in 1999. Watch the teaser. The ‘J’ is a modernized variant that features a glass cockpit, air-to-ground radar, FMS, and computerized airdrop capabilities designed to reduce crew workload. Exciting additional variants are planned in the near future, including the KC versions. This will offer player to player aerial refueling, another first in DCS.

  27. Fantastic news. I couldn't be happier with the 1989 IDS. For me this is what the Tornado stands for. As far as I know, Marineflieger IDS used HARM as anti-ship missile. According to the SIPRI arms transfer database, Germany received a batch of 944 AGM-88 between 1987 and 1992. So I guess HARM is on the table.

  28. Indeed, but it's close enough, and I didn't want to dampen what is unarguably welcome news with an 'if only they'd done x' caveat.

  29. The contemporary GR1 was more capable than the '89 german IDS. Plus the GR1 had about 900lbs more internal gas. A '91 (post Operation Granby) RAFG GR.1 would have been the optimal Tornado to bring to DCS in my opinion - the connecting fibre between the old Cold War all weather low-level strike and the post-CW medium altitude LGB delivery platform. The GAF/GNAF Tornado IDS won't be half bad, but the GR1 would have been the icing on the cake.

  30. I'm a bit disappointed. Those news are an hour old and only 22 replies sofar. What happend to the tornado crowd? People asking this module for a decade! (or even longer) First day purchase for me because it says 1989 in the advertising.

  36. Thanks! As for the leafless trees, I believe it is possible but requires some more study on how the speedtrees work. If I remember correctly, even the stock winter trees have some leaves here and there, painted white. I'll have a look at it.

  38. Wow guys, calm down. First I/We didnt pressure anyone. I just give a different perspective. Im one single consumer. Im just a consumer who is interestet in the the topic Performance optimization. I read a bit here and saw unhappy consumers and some people who use energy to defend ED by all costs. ( I think the internet call it: "Keyboard justice") Sorry for the critics but: BIGNEWYs Answers don't help me really. Don't understand me wrong: You react to the Community. That is a good thing, but the answers sounds like a politician or bot. (Say something but don't transport Information) For example developers from "Periscope Games" explaned in the past what they have done and were is the challenge with examples. It were very interesting Potcasts/Developmentprocess livestreams. (Just an example for contemporary work in Gaming Communities). I may can speak for some of us, when not most of us: We are just interestet if the work is going well. And sometimes what cool stuff they doing (because yeah suprise it's interesting). But if fanboys or Beta Testers complaining and defending about every single question, than we don't need a forum here. The Topic here is Vulkan and Performance not how triple AAA Gaming Companies crash there business in the past. Maybe we use the Topic here to give and find some infos, if we will be able to play DCS with a High resolution VR Headset or Monitor, on our super expensive rtx3080s in moderate graphics, and useful visual range and frames? (The World will Call you: "The Half-Life Alyx of Flight Combat Games") If you guys have some News about this topic I will spend time to read it. But if not, than please don't waste your valuable time to try to answer off topic or give me advices I dont ask for. I will simply not read it. Fly safe!
