  1. (F-16) Lock (distorted_v2).ogg This is a custom made PRF tone of an STT lock by another F-16. I think I've got the distortion figured out pretty well.

  3. I just wanted to thank ED for what they've created. I was showing off DCS to some colleagues this week, and their reactions made me realize how you just start taking for granted how awesome it is when you use it so often. This one title has brought me more enjoyment than every other software package I've ever bought ... combined. It's so incredible that it's truly life-changing, and I can say without any reservation that it's improved the quality of my life. Every single day, I can't wait until 6pm so I can fire it up and do something completely new that I've never done before. Thanks ED, for making this available during my lifetime. And that's all I've got to say about that.

  4. I see that you are new here. One thing to keep in mind on the ED forums is to use the search function and to read everything in the newsletters and the moderators answers to questions before posting your own or going off on a rant. From the same newsletter you quoted above: DCS: Normandy 2 will be available as a complete map for $59.99 USD. If you have either DCS: Normandy 1944 or DCS: The Channel maps, you can purchase Normandy 2 for $14.99 USD. If you own both, you can purchase DCS: Normandy 2 for only $9.99 USD. Hope you enjoy the new Normandy map as much as I will.

  5. The vast majority seems to be very happy with this. Both ww2 maps are really small, Normandy didn't look good. So now you get a much much bigger ww2 map, with two huge cities, and it will cost you 15 bucks if you have Normandy 1, or 10 bucks if you have Normandy 1 and Channel map. Or if you have none of the ww2 maps you'll now pay 60 bucks for a big ww2 map. Instead of 100 for two small ones.

  7. The amount of work this team has put into this map update is incredible, its not an easy skill to learn, its artistic in nature. 9.99 if you own the original map and the Channel map is more than fair in our minds. As for your comment on upgrades, there is a simple choice here. You dont buy the upgrade. If you do not want to pay for extra work, that a real human puts in time to do, then you do not have to get it. Its been the same for the A-10C II, will be the same for Black Shark 3, etc. You dont have to buy them, but please dont suggest we should give everything away for free this is not sustainable. We already do give a lot for free within the core. Thanks. Not sure how your math works, but the Channel is not being updated. Normandy map is having some previously low or non-detailed areas added. If you own the original map and/or the Channel map you get a discount. DCS: Normandy 2 will be available as a complete map for $59.99 USD. If you have either DCS: Normandy 1944 or DCS: The Channel maps, you can purchase Normandy 2 for $14.99 USD. If you own both, you can purchase DCS: Normandy 2 for only $9.99 USD.

  8. If it includes Paris and London, that in itself constitutes a new map. And given the amount of work involved to make those two cities, and to - hopefully - make them run well, it is anything but lazy. As I obviously have all the maps this looks like a great deal with the discount. I get Paris and London, plus other improvements, for $10. I think this is a solid good deal. If you don't like it, vote with your wallet. I will be voting "yes" with mine.

  9. Yes I agree and hope they do it justice. I don't understand the vehement anger this map has produced though? OK, you don't like it, then don't buy it. Why are you all trying to shout down those that are interested. Yes it's the same area but it sounds like it's much more than a simple patch. How many of you would expect to get a free book or coffee simply because you had bought one in previously? If this was just an update then yes I would be angry about paying more, but it's not. It's much bigger and clearly involves lots more work. If you don't want it then fine, but the rest of us don't need to know that. Sorry for the rant all but these forums seemed to have changed since ED started releasing new upcoming projects week after week. With so much content there is bound to be things individuals aren't interested in but others are. This is a good thing, it's allowing DCS to become more individual and people to focus on what they like. Not everyone is the same and that's a good thing.

  11. Althought i was hoping some late-war map annoucement finally, normandy 2 will be more than welcome upgrade for dcs WW2 in my opinion. Especially owners of old normandy and channel map it will be bargain. Screens looks awesome already...how about 109 G6 next, then we would have decent planeset also.

  15. I along with others have got to a point that we won't spend another penny on DCS until Vulkan is released. I get that Rome wasn't built in a day, but I along with many others have literally spent thousands on a gaming rig to play DCS. So to still be on 2 cores in 2022 is just beyond a joke and it's driven many away from DCS.

Our sincere apologies that we were not able to put the finger on it yet, and that the previous attempts for fixing it did not solve it yet. Thank you all for your very kind patience, we certainly know how frustrating the issue is.

  20. The Spitfire is still waiting to have the new cooling added, so it should be coming I hope. I think to pin one specific time on a map is tough. We try and give enough interesting stuff to be able to allow Mission Creators to have their way with it. So sometimes you need to suspend belief if a ALG or other object is somewhere that it shouldnt be for your current mission.

  22. As I said in my latest video I’m not gonna maintain several alternate versions, that’s a development suicide. Normandy 1 only / Normandy 1 and channel / Normandy 2 only/ Normandy 2 and channel, sorry, no way. and from the Channel you can’t just ‘move ‘ the missions to Normandy 2 without having to rebuild them from scratch, and that is not going to happen either. I am, however, going to make sure that my missions work on both (as the announcement promised they would). People who bought my Normandy campaigns bought it with the requirement of the Normandy 1 map. I can’t add another payware requirement retrospectively.

  23. We do have 4 independently controlled throttles already so no need for the wishlist, Hopefully we should be able to accomodate the strange people who somehow have 16 different throttle axis aswell as the people who only have one. We cant provide children to push the throttles for you so you will have to bring your own It is possible, Once you get into modern ordinance with targeting pods and guided munitions it gets problematic but we shouldnt run into that issue (hopefully). Its possible to edit the code and get 16 nukes aboard and droppable but you have to be real high to not blow yourself out the sky, Dont ask how iIknow

  26. With the popular demand for more dynamic content in DCS, and along with the upcoming dynamic campaign feature, I want to promote an idea to help bring dynamic mission making to the mission editor. That idea is the airbase controller, which can be placed at an airport to automate flights coming from the airbase. This is more than just ATC, the idea is to have something that reacts to what is going on on the map and try to reach a desired goal. For example the airbase controller could be set to simply defend the airbase. It could do this by spawning and organizing CAP flights. Or maybe the goal would just be to populate a map with civilian air traffic. You'd place it at an airport and give it a list things to spawn. For a military controller you would provide a list aircraft groups on the airbase available for the controller to call, time between spawns, and a list of destinations, and tasks and targets to engage, for example Intercept, orbit, ground attack, etc. Targets might be trigger zones or other groups/units. This way you could automate the defense of airbases in a mission or just have a constant randomized stream of AI performing missions in the back ground without having to spend a lot of time adding flights in the ME. Here is a potential example of what the GUI might look like in the ME: So in this example the controller has access to F-15 and F-16 groups at its airbase. I will spawn a group every hours to fly CAP over CAP Trigger Zone and these CAP flights will engage everything in a 40 mile radius of the zone. Their target is set to Aircraft, meaning attack anything in the air, and Ariel 3, so if that specific group is detected they will prioritize it. The groups are also set to orbit their destination. And a civilian flight example: Here 747's and 777's will be spawned every 5 minutes and then takeoff and fly to Dubai International. Orbit is unchecked so that the aircraft behave like airliners. I think this concept would also tie in very well with the warehouse system. For example if the controller must pull aircraft and weapons from the airbase it is placed at, then you could control the resources available to it. An airbase might only have 4 Su-27, and if these are launched and destroyed the controller would be forced to use other aircraft for missions, or might be unable to launch missions at all until the airbase is resupplied. The resupply job could even be tasked to another controller sitting at a different base further behind the front lines. That base would just send flights of aircraft to the forward base as needed for resupply. So, in summary I'd like to place some kind of aircraft generator at airbases to automate tasking in user created missions. I've provided some examples of how it could work, but it's a pretty open ended idea so there are certainly room for other options or settings. Perhaps the idea doesn't need to be limited airports but could also be applied to ground units. I also think such a thing might be helpful to have in the dynamic campaign, although maybe ED has already thought of such a thing.

  27. Please make it look like a map of Normandy from 1944. There are sources to download actual scanned Department of War relief maps in various scales with the actual roads, villages, bridges streams, woods, towers, railroads, electrical lines, hill tops. The are literally thousands of photos of every important location in all of Normandy. There is NO reason for anything generic or generated. I want to recognize all the places I've seen in films and photos since I was a child - Sainte-Mère-Église, the Vieville draw, Carentan, St. Lo, Pointe du Hoc, Arromanches-les-Bains, Villers-Bocage, Caen, Benouville, Ranville, Falaise - I could go on and on. I want to be able to recognize what I'm seeing, and above all, I want to be able to take a map from the era and use it to navigate, to fly from England and once over the continent, use landmarks to navigate - church towners, roads, notable buildings, railroads, electrical lines - everything pilots really used during the war, and which are taught to use in training films on how to navigate using only visible references. I am excitedly looking forward to this new developments

  29. Yeah, and if Heatblur would make me an F-104 and throw in a bottle of 20 year-old Pappy Van Winkle, I'd be a happy chappy too. But it's an imperfect world. As it is, I get London and Paris for $10. I can live with that.

  30. Not to get lost in semantics, but all modules are DLC. And I would say again that adding London and Paris is no small thing. And there is no doubt some aspects of the map are being carried over. I can't imagine otherwise. If what is being carried over is good enough or getting a facelift, fine. And let's not lose sight of the discount for previous owners. If we are getting a bigger, better map for $10... that's pretty much the ballgame. If the Normandy V2 map was $60 for everyone, then there might be an issue. But if it's $10, there is no issue. It's $10.

  31. It would of course be a dream to have campaigns from the two maps work on the one new one. But I understand you can't work yourself to death to remake 90 or 100% of a campaign for no money (I honestly don't know how you make it work for the price you take) you spend up to a year to make a campaign and sell them for 10-15 bucks. I'm curious how many copies of the campaigns you sell. I mean it must be quite a bit for it all to be worth it.

  33. M-28 Skytruck / An-28 "Cash" has been updated to v1.1.1007; including a "fix" to the damage model to prevent the floating props when the engine is destroyed (among other bug fixes and additions). The update also includes a new livery for the An-28, the Ukrainian Antonov Airlines UR-NTE. The plane was in the news earlier this year, so I included it for anybody wanting to have the livery in one of their scenarios.

  34. Most of the big bombers are nuclear assets, chances of us getting any of those are very, very slim. F-111 and F-117, maybe. The Su-24 is currently unlikely for political reasons, since even MiG-29 got axed, but that could change depending on what happens in Russia. Canberra is old (so, not classified), iconic and has an awesome service record, but it was mostly a nuke bomber and high altitude recon, though it could also do conventional bombing, so it'd have a use in DCS.

  38. I would say just create new content for the new map and those who bought the old campaigns, if they move up, buy the new content. I would not expect Reflected to have recreate all that for free. That change is on ED, not Reflected. I would say when the new map comes, make new great campaigns for the new map, charge full price and forget about the old. Until then, I think campaigns on the WWII maps created by Reflected after the announcement of the new map would have to be ported to the new map, in good faith, since we are buying something knowing the map is going away. The campaigns that Reflected makes are great, so I would buy any new ones, at full price, just my two cents.

  40. The B-66 and A-3 should be different modules. The B-66 may have looked like the A-3 and had a similar mission set but they were very different. The B-66 had unreliable engines. More were lost to flame outs than enemy fire. My dad almost went down over North Vietnam because of a flame out.

  41. I have to be honest and say that would be absolutely fine with me. It's not like the older/original versions become unplayable, just that newer fancier versions would become available. And if the cost of the new version is discounted for owners of the original version, great! I am looking forward to the BlackShark 3 more than any other module (maybe) and I like that I'm going to get a solid discount. I have zero complaints about that. New toys cost new money. And if I'm getting cutting edge flighsim goodness, I'm happy to pay. F-5 V2 and Nevada V2? Take my money!

  46. Hi all, It's my personal opinion but getting disappointing that: The first announcement of Vulcan happened at Nov 28, 2017. As customer I just experience that there is no god to push enough performance out with VR from the game (without 3rd party tools). Before someone just asking I use: Ryzen 9 5900XT with ASUS 3090 OC and 64GB RAM, and yes I have spent enough time to find the best options. If sometimes, still means that lots of already expected 'magic' still missing, like shadows generated by anything except the sun, moon and the 'tricky magic' shadows on carriers or just a few annoying bugs: - falling red colored snow, - the fog still look like in the games around 2000 especially in rain, - you hear the rain but not see it when using rain preset. - after moved some LUAs into DLLs, the loading in menu became horribly slow, - Mig29 cockpit 'unusable' at night since 2 years (no reaction for requests for fix especially if it has affect for ED modules) - no fog visible in rain but rain moving into opposite direction than the wind, - more then 90% of tracks not usable (We don't even dream that get a player where possible to forwards or backwards the time - in 2022 it is unthinkable), - snow falling in hangar too, and so on, many other things on 3rd party side as well. At the same time 1-2 core of CPU just 'melting down' to serve everything, especially in multiplayer or missions, so sometimes some info or update would be enough to not sell the whole thousands of dollars worth equipment, and start to believe that something happening beyond the promises. I quote again: "The first announcement of Vulcan happened at Nov 28, 2017."

  47. At the moment, I have written more than 400 pages for the AH-64. The cockpit description, start-up, takeoff, landing, and sensors sections are complete. The weapons section is still being worked on. Once the weapons section is complete, I still have to work on the navigation, autopilot, powerplant, countermeasures, multicrew, and aerodynamics sections, which should prove to be slightly "less complicated". Work on the Mirage F1 guide has not started yet. I'd rather not work on stuff in parallel since I know some users are getting impatient about the AH-64 guide.

  48. You either have an internal miscommunication or need your SME to take another look at these particular issues: - Missile launch recycle tone: the missile launch recycle tone is 515hz instead of the 1000hz of the "initial" missile launch tone. This sounds every 15 seconds after the initial missile launch tone. You can hear this on the Serbia shootdown video... - New threat audio: whenever a new threat is detected, there is a chirped tone of either 3000hz (air or unknown threat) or 500hz (surface threat). Again you can hear them in both the Serbia and Alaska videos. - Hand-off mode audio: indeed not the same as in the ALR-69, but there is still PRF audio/chirped tones for the "diamond" emitter. Yet again, you can hear the tones in both videos. I have no idea of how you can assert that your ALR-56M implementation is fully correct when it is literally missing all tone features from the real one, and when even your missile launch tone is repeated continuously instead of being "recycled" every 15 seconds. Maybe the DCS viper is headed for a similar future than the DCS hornet.
