Well, many people love other modules, in many cases the fighter of choice for their air force (F16, F18, Su27....). Having said that I usually see many jf17 online in the servers I play, mainly blueflag and Ddcs. It's a great plane with lot of nasty weapons to do harm. Is there information or a update for this being added? It doesn’t seem to be a Wishlist thing to be honest, if it’s how the radar is meant to work with the information being a available it seems like a fairly important feature to not implement.4 points

Dear ED, would you please work with Heatblur to get the exterior lights working as they should on the F-14? I was watching a F-16 taxi down a long taxiway at Nellis. It was during the day and you could see it's strobe flashing from the other side of the airbase. There is very little light bloom on the F-14's exterior lights (and disappear after a short distance), especially the green formation lights that shimmer so wonderfully on the F-18. I'm sure the F-14 has been a big seller for DCS and it's a shame to see it treated so shabbily. Thank you.4 points

We have been talking about expanding and growing what we do with updates and how we share them. Its always a debate between community people like myself and devs as they do not want to show mistakes or bugs or issues with additions, if I had my way I would have shown what the 109 looked like today in the Multithreading build, it was hilarious and ok to laugh at ourselves from time to time. I know we will share some news on Mutlithreading very soon, and I think you guys will appreciate it. You also have to understand the is a big group of people that do not appreciate these types of updates or take them the wrong way etc. So its always a balancing act of what we share and what we dont. I can tell you that early performance showed good results, but more so on heavy missions, meaning while there is improvements across the board, the more stuff you added to a mission the bigger the performance difference, which isnt too surprising, but these were from earlier build and its always evolving and changing. And that is another thing, early development peaks can make people nervous, they might not see the performance gains the want but forget there is work to be done, so again... its a balancing act. We really do appreciate all you guys, from our biggest fans to our biggest critics, we are working really hard on making a very big positive change and setting the stage for a very bright future going forward. Just make sure you are subbed for the newsletter.4 points

A lot of us like to complain about things the we think should be done a certain way, myself included. But the vast majority of us have no idea how any of this software stuff actually works, myself most definitely included! I see AI do dumb dumb stuff, and whine about it. Then @NineLine points out of why some things are the way they are, most of which I haven’t considered because I don’t know what involved. I’ve never considered the old FM of the AI to have anything to do with how they act, nor do I have any idea how any of that works. I try not to sound disgruntled in my posts because I am not, if any ever come off that way, i do apologize. The ED team does do a great job of updating DCS whether its what any of us want at the moment or not. What may seem agonizingly slow to me, may be leaps and bounds from a devs perspective. As @Exorcet pointed out, other AAA games are a total ripoff in comparison to DCS, if you think of it in long term engament. Think of COD, Every year( about) a new one is released which really isn’t much more than a re-skinned version of its predecessor, yet you pay $70-100 each time and in that year between is usually spent just getting everything in the game to work, all while pumping out micro transactions for skins and useless trinkets. ( can you imagine paying $20 per livery for each aircraft in DCS) Then the previous rendition is all but abandoned. DCS you could buy one module for $70 and literally never have to spend another penny on it, yet ED still keeps pumping out updates, free maps, engine upgrades and users still make a LOT of mods and content, which ED very graciously allows, all for nothing. If that’s not standing behind your product and supporting the community, I don’t know what is. @draconus commented earlier on this post to me “ Should've made report and upload a track to help devs actually do something about it.“ and I thought about that. Straight to the point and 100% correct. Having a mouthful of something to say on a forum, doesn’t help the ED or DCS in any way. Correctly presenting a bug or any odd things happening in the proper format, no matter how insignificant it may seem, is literally the only way we can all help to make progress. We should all be thankful that @NineLine, @BIGNEWY, @Flappie, @SkateZilla and others do respond to us. I’d love to see other big studios actually engage with their community on a day to day basis the way the ED team does. -edited Nuff said, afternoon rant over. in 2022, there's no such thing as 100% Bug Free Stable, there's no pcs of software of considerable length that's 100% Stable, there's billions of software and hardware variables, any of which can cause bugs and instability. We strive to do the best we can.3 points

I don't see why people get to a level of pessimism where they unironically think it won't come out next year. Pessimistic view earlier this year was that it was going to come out at the very end of December or maybe as late as Feb. Then they announce "Some delays but we're still gunning for 2022." and now it's "Late next year, if not two or three more." I know some, if not most of the comments like that are jokes, but for it to take that long to come out Heatblur would have to be lying through their teeth. And I get it "Where are the pictures???????", I get it, but the policy was laid out clearly from the start. We get the pictures and serious big boy updates when it's about to release - which I'm making the gamble on being no later than Q2 next year, but that's my pessimistic view where I'd be kind of ticked at HB. Q1 I think is more realistic, absolute latest first month of Q2. Anything past Q2 color me genuinely surprised, and wondering if HB had been all that truthful and if they're deserving of my cash without a VERY indepth explanation of what's gone wrong.3 points

You may be shocked to learn that "SAP" is an acronym with extensive use across multiple industries. As is usually the case, one can determine the meaning from the context. Pretty apparent we're not talking about financial software here, on the WinWing controls subforum of a flight simulator board.3 points

I can see this is a game... I serviced those two variants of the 530 at BA-102 Dijon, they were used by Mirage IIIE in my time. The AAMs were mediocre, regardless of the variant, same corps, different head, their performances were limited and reliability abysmal due to the way they were stored (pressurised container) technology used and built quality (electronics). The 530 was already integrated to the Mirage III C, here one aicraft of the Escadron de Chasse 1/2 Cigognes, Dijon AFB (BA-102), later the squadron was equiped with the IIIE and the 2000-5F. In all its service life, this AAM scored only ONE kill (with the Israeli air Force), its failure rate was very high. France launched a program for its successor as early as the technology was available and they came up with the Super 530F first used with the Mirage F1, to be honnest, the Super 530D was perhaps the best available at its time, with acceleration, top speed and interception envelops above average. In the case of the 550, it is a totally different story, it is a dogfighting IR AAM, unlike the AIM-9 which was first designed in view of intercepting bombers. The 550 has a larger diameter, a shorter range but is more maneuverable than the contemporary AIM-9s, the Magic II variant had much larger firing envelop (all aspect). I was planing to buy the Mirage F1, (did not happen due to credit card issues, not funds), but If I scored a kill with a 530, I'll know it is much probably nowhere near as realistic as it should be, chances are it would either fail or miss in real life, but fired withing its parameters (range), the Magic II would be best for a turning fight than most other IR AAMS of its time. If you want to translate this doc, you will find some little known informations on those AAMs. LES MISSILES AIR-AIR DE LA DEUXIÈME GÉNÉRATION Centre des hautes études de l'armement. The best I can do is a pilot mod with new models, including women! The base model has bones, so with max, and proper args and connectors, they could be made to do things in the cockpit! Turn switches, move controls etc. The basic mod is about done. All are sitting, not standing. They could be placed in any cockpit with lua!3 points

#################################### DOWNLOADS ########################################## Links deleted Some things are overdone and need to be toned down, others have ugly seams that need fixing. Wish i had the 3d model as i could do more trickery and seamless painting in substance painter... *oh well* For now ive only touched the color/diffuse map, as ill build the roughness, metalic and normal from that one. Its the same layout as with the current Dora texture sets but each texture is 4096 * 4096. I´m doing research on the panel and riveting patterns so not touched that yet, but its just that much i can do as ive noticed differences between the model and various other blueprints that i tend to go along with the native DCS patterns and just "redo" them. More research is to be made for the appearance of paint chipping etc...research is half the deal.. Work Work Work. The current livery is nothing specific, but i plan on doing each of the 15 Staffeln of JG.26, with each having its own unique color scheme plus Stab (madness), but generating these, once the base texture is set up, its only a matter of a weekend. Flaps on Landing. There's no difference between Autoslat, Combat Flap and manual Flaps in terms of LE devices in game. Whereas IRL: Autoslat. Combat Flaps or manual Flaps. So in conclusion: 1) LE device travel is not enough in game (seems about half of the IRL travel) 2) LE device schedules aren't accurate: Max travel for the inboard LE-droops is 25° - no matter if flaps manual, combat flaps or auto-slats. Max travel for the outboard slats is 15° in auto-slats and 26° for combat-flap or manual flap. Seems like both are always only extending to ~15°.2 points

I am pretty sure we will find out one way or another in four weeks whether we get it this year or not. One thing I am 90% certain of, it's that we will get some sort of statement or news sometime the next three weeks before the holidays starts. A part of me wishes that we get it after the new year because if we get it before the holidays it's gonna ruin my social life this Christmas.2 points

It's not about how hot the object is, it's about the rates of emission or reflection of infrared energy. Additionally, it also comes down to the ability of the specific FLIR sensor to distinguish and display the relative detections. If a FLIR sensor or its video output only has 5 levels of brightness between full white and full black, the temperature differences as they appear on a video display may not have the level of resolution that directly correlates with the actual differences in infrared emission/reflection rates. If a FLIR sensor and its video output have 20 levels of brightness between full white and full black, you will see a greater degree of difference across many objects; but again, that doesn't directly correlate with how physically hot or cold the object is. As an example from real-life usage, by messing with the level and gain of a FLIR sensor, I can make it so everything looks like Cookies & Cream ice cream, where everything appears to be almost completely black or completely white, with little in between (even when using a sensitive, high-resolution FLIR camera). When this happens, it can often be hard to see whether the FLIR is set to White-Hot or Black-Hot, and therefore the FLIR needs to be re-optimized. A FLIR sensor may need to be re-optimized several times over the course of a flight as thermal conditions in the environment change. I'm not describing how the F-16's TGP or AGM-65 seekers function specifically, because I have no first-hand use of the F-16 or Maverick missile, but I have extensive use with FLIR systems in other aircraft. What I'm trying to say is that there is a lot more to these systems in how they display thermal images of the environment besides just the apparent temperature of "hot" or "cold" objects. If I drive up the gain on a FLIR camera, where a running vehicle is already at it it's maximum brightness level in the video output, I can make it so a cooler object is at the same brightness level as a much hotter object, giving it an appearance of being at the same temperature. And while a lot of FLIR sensors have automatic gain control mechanisms in them, the sophistication and effectiveness of such functions vary, especially with older generation FLIR sensors. Even in DCS, I am often constantly adjusting the FLIR picture using manual level gain controls to get a better picture based on the video output. Only on the most sophisticated FLIR systems in recent years would you have automatic gain control logic that rivals the management of a human operator.2 points

Some update on my side. I spend several hours with some expert from support. It turned out, I have a dedicated public address. It’s not shared. So all should be ok. We tried port forwarding the port 10308, but all checks done on portchecker.co/checking showed that the port is closed. They didn’t understand it, and told me that the port is open. Now I got it. Of course the port is closed. The port is only existing when I create a multiplayer server. I learned a lot during this exercise! Best training ever! I’m sorry for it. All is good! They are slotted stabs. All early Phantoms (B/C/D) were produced without slotted stabs. Some B's were later retrofitted with them. German F-4F phantoms had the slatted wings but unslotted stabs. The Japanese F-4EJ Had Un-slatted wings with slotted stabs. The Japanese RF-4EJ, being a conversion of the F-4EJ also had slotted stabs. All RF-4C/E's had un-slatted wings and un-slotted stabs and as such were the fastest of the operational Phantoms. All E/G/J/K/N and S Phantoms had slotted stabs.2 points

One little detail. I don't think DCS Mirage F1 weapon inventory is complete, it should be able to carry the Super 530F which in fact was its primary weapon from 1979, and it was used by many operators of the export versions of the F1, the 530 was the Mirage III and IIIE primary weapon, not that of the F1... Iraqui Mirage F1EQs shot down Iranian F-14s and Turkish F-100 with the Super 530F, see below the list of Mirage F1 export operators having used the 530F, in any case, this AAM should be available for the Mirage F1 in DCS... Medium-range or interception missiles. The French Super 530 family was developed by Matra (see figures 40 and 41). The R 530 missile required a complete overhaul to adapt it to the evolution of the threats described above. The Super 530 F is a new missile. It kept, from the R 530, only the diameter (263 mm) and the interchangeability with the missile launcher. This diameter was adapted to the technology of the R 530 (dating from 1958). A diameter of 220 mm would have been more rational for the Super 530, but the EMAA considered that a derivative keeping the diameter reduced the cost of development. The Super 530 F was developed from 1969 to be adapted to the Mirage F1. Its main characteristics and performances are as follows: - semi-active pulsed EM seeker: we indicated above (chapter 8, EMD) the reasons which led to the choice, for the F1, of an on-board radar without continuous illuminator; attacking targets at low altitude was not possible. On the other hand, the AD was modern (monopulse antenna, profiled radome and electronic technology from 1970) and its range was doubled compared to that of the R 530 (gains of the antennas of the radar and of the AD markedly increased); - classic configuration, but with reduced wing span (0.64 m, instead of 1.1 m for the R 530) to facilitate mounting under the aircraft; - mass of 245 kg; - more efficient propellant than for the R 530: mass of 115 kg (+ 49 kg) and use of butalane as propellant; - Thomson proximity fuze, electromagnetic correlation (see chapter 8, CFTH), and 32 kg Brandt fragmentation charge; - performance: firing in the F1 range with a maximum Mach of 4.5 for the missile; possible height difference of 9,000 m, allowing the attack of targets at 21,000 m; minimum altitude limited by the AD, varying from 1,000 m in rear attack to 3,000 m in frontal attack; maximum firing distance of 25 km; minimum shooting distance of 1000 m. This missile was put into service in 1979; it had undergone a spread of its development, for budgetary reasons. It should be noted that a few test interceptions took place at the CEL, in 1975, with an altitude difference of 8,000 m on an American AQM 37 A supersonic target flying at a Mach 0.9 higher than the shooter service aircraft. (Vautour). In addition to the F1, the Super 530 F was adapted to the first Mirage 2000 equipped with an RDM pulse radar. 1,200 missiles were produced until 1988: 650 for France and 550 for export with the F1, to Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan and Qatar. The Super 530 F was used in the Iraq-Iran conflict. The Super 530 D is the version adapted to the Mirage 2000 equipped with a pulse doppler on-board radar (named RDI, pulse doppler radar). The main differences in characteristics compared to the F are as follows: - EMD semi-active doppler seeker (see chapter 8, EMD), with 1980 digital technology (microprocessor for management); significantly increased AD range: 50 km; very high resistance to modern countermeasures; - partially digitized computer driver; - more efficient vehicle: increased mass and length (+ 30 kg and + 265 mm), total impulse thruster 16% higher, with an SEP composite casing; - performance: maximum speed of Mach 5; increased possible height difference, allowing the attack of targets at 24,000 m; minimum target altitude of 60 m; maximum firing distance of 50 km, with an interception distance of 35 km. The "F" of the Super 530 corresponds to the F1 aircraft. LES MISSILES AIR-AIR DE LA DEUXIÈME GÉNÉRATION Centre des hautes études de l'armement. Département d'histoire de l'armement. The Navy and I never got along well, even when I was in it, so I don't worry too much about what the LSO thinks. I pay more attention to my own performance (pathetic though it might be) and work on consistency. So far I'm consistently pathetic. It is nice to know the LSO has a hotel oscar for me, though. You're brilliant! I spent some time going through a ton of LUA files and came across the materials.lua which includes the following lines... --materials["TID_COLOR"] = {28,255,15,220} materials["TID_COLOR"] = {4,71,7,255} File location is ...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\F14\Cockpit\materials.lua The first line is commented out. I tried copying the commented out values, {28,255,15,220}, and replaced the uncommented line's {4,71,7,255}. That did it! The brightness is now the same as the HSD display. No idea why they have a couple of commented out lines. Maybe options that they were testing at some point and left behind??? This is probably going to be a pain since the file will have to be changed after every update but at least it's found. I didn't take the time yet to figure out what order the values are in... assuming some order of Red, Green, Blue, Transparency. Thanks for the suggestion!2 points

We've heard nothing about anything worthwhile for a long time. Last mini update was of no interest to me and was September. Performance has regressed. I fired it up only to test my 7700x Vs my 4790. Everything else I tried from RDR2 to MSFS brought a smile to my face. This module feels awful even knocked back to 1080p to lock 60fps. Getting frustrated now.2 points

The F-16 manual revision is over halfway finished, including well over 100 pages of new content. A preview of 4 new pages is not indicative of the totality of progress. The person doing the F-16 manual isn't the only one writing manuals, just the one that is responsible for a few of the aircraft, like the F-16, F-18 and A-10C.2 points

Ok so I made the update ... Just HIGH settings for 2.7 and 2.8. I also deleted fxo and metashaders after patch and here are my results with @speed-of-heat track 2.8 with openXR : as some others people, around 10% of loss in term of FPS, about 1.5ms of GPU time Made all tests twice to be sure. edit : and I am under WIN11 but I made the little .bat to remove perf logs What are your final graphics settings with 2.8 ? no more shadows ? thanks2 points

Ugh, thats not really true. It never exceeded the numbers of PFMs, PFS or MF in any of the mentioned countries during 1967 war, War of attrition or 1973 war. Iraq for example received only 20 MiG-21FLs in 1966. In 1967 they already received 36 brand new PFMs and in 1971 further 20 MFs. Not to mention some 48 MiG-21bis delivered between 1979 and 1983. I think Iraq had even more Hawker Hunters than MiG-21FLs. That wouldn't be true for Egypt either, especially since immediately after 1967 war, Soviet Union decided to rapidly send 65 of their PFS to restore some of the Egyptian Air Force capabilities, which was virtually annihilated. Finally, Syrian Ordre de bataille as of October 1973, indicates that most common variant were PFMs and MFs. Note: all the above numbers are rounded for the purposes of quick search and based on slightly dated, but still likely some of the most accurate, publications: - Arab MiGs. Volume 5: October 1973 War, Part 1, - Iraqi Fighters: 1953-2003: Camouflage & Markings Voila FLs are easy to distinguish as they had no SRO antennas. Poland kept 21PF in service until 1989. And they were retrofitted with GP-9 as picture below shows: Polish PFs were modernized since the time of their arrival in 1964 / 1965, by replacement of RP-21 blocks with RP-21M, installation of SBKO-E blocks for identification control and couple other things like installation of the hook under the airframe to attach the mentioned GP-9 pod.2 points
