BS3 is based on a mostly experimental helicopter that never saw more than a few missions in one conflict. This allowed us to have a Redfor helo that we could mold into something that fit the needs of DCS World (and not worry about any government officials coming for us). This doesnt mean that we need or want to do this with every aircraft we do. To be honest all other aircraft, including the Kiowa have enough realistic options to not need fantasy loadouts. Not to mention we learned with the Viper than many people didnt like a loadout that might have been possible, worked well for gameplay, but not really a operational common loadout. SO long story short, the BS3 opens the door for a dev that might wanna do an airframe that never saw action, was never produced, etc but for all others we (and our 3rd Parties) try and be as real as documentation allow.9 points

Dear all, We will explore the option of auto-boresight for the Maverick and HMCS from a cold start. This would also need to be server enforced. When possible, we want to shallow the learning curve for new players. This is a low priority though as we have much bigger fish to fry. On the subject of Maverick boresight: this has been fixed internally and we hope to release in the next update or the one after (limited time for final testing and integration). Kind regards, Wags6 points

Misc Military Assets by Currenthill M142 HIMARS Version 1.1.0 released - see first post Version 1.1.0 Added 40 seconds deployment time Changed time delay between launches Fixed the reload amount (2 reloads) and time (300 seconds) I felt these issues were annoying enough to quickly release a version 1.1.0.5 points

some fixes. @DB 605 cheers! yeah ive applied some masking to the bottom dirt, having the focus of this around the wheel areas and towards the rear fuselage. thats where all the grime kicks up and such. as doras flew alot from improvised airfields. still have to match colors a bit and blend the sides downwashed dirt with the bottom dirt... ive kept the chipping minimal. most little specks are around where debris on start / landing would kick up, and of course areas that are handled alot like cockpit, hatches etc. will look into it tho mate. thing is, i kinda have to settle for something. filze size is huge. 5 gig for the working file. 20mb for a single diffuse map and you need 4 of them. plus 4normal and 4 spec/roughness maps. So in the long shot it want to change whats absolutally necessary when doing other versions, like eg, only the diffuse maps and the rest will stay the same. there sure were some doras that got delivered in pristine condition but were shot downon their first combat mission, but where´s the fun in that5 points
-
Time to dirty up the dora. Started adding dust and grime. Bottom is bit too much for my likin, gonna tone it down. Redid the labels to be more readable. Added JG 301 tailband template and group markings....as you can see...HEAPS OF UVW FUN!5 points

Nochmals danke an Euch alle ..

DCS: F-16C Viper | January 2023 Update (COMING SOON) COMING SOON What map is this? A preview of the upcoming DCS: Sinai Map. NOTE: Multi-Threading is enabled in this video, but DLSS is not (forgot to enable it). Purchase DCS: F-16C Viper from: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.co... In this DCS: F-16C Viper update, we’ll talk about the primary new features coming to our Viper: new ALR-65M radar warning receiver features, an animated tail hook, and the alternate landing gear handle. First, we’ll look at some of the new features coming to the Viper’s radar warning receiver, or RWR. Some of these items may have been introduced a bit earlier, so I’ll cover them all in this video. In the center of the RWR display can be indications for the Search and Low Altitude functions that can be enabled next to your left knee. When the S is flashing on the Search button, acquisition radars are not displayed on the RWR display. This can help declutter the scope. But, if you press the button and the S becomes steady, acquisition radars will be displayed, and an S is displayed in the center of the RWR scope. When the Altitude button is pressed and LOW is displayed on it, low altitude/short-range ground air defense systems are prioritized, and L is displayed in the center of the scope. If LOW is not displayed, then air emitters will be in priority. If both SEARCH and LOW are both enabled, then the S and L on the scope will mipple. Also please note that symbol sizes have been slightly reduced and Early Warning Radars, or EWR, are now displayed as a dish symbol on the scope. To see them, the SEARCH button will need to be enabled. New air and ground emitter visual and audio indications have also been updated. Newly detected emitters will pulsate for a few seconds between half size and full size to grab your attention. When a new airborne emitter is detected, you will hear a high frequency alert tone and when a ground emitter is first detected you will hear a lower alert tone. When you are locked by an airborne or ground-based radar in tracking mode, the scope symbol will now have a square around the emitter code. As before, if the radar is guiding a missile, there will be a flashing circle around it too. Speaking of radar-guided missiles launches… The missile launch tone is also now quite different. Rather than continue to sound if the radar is guiding a missile, it will now have a high-frequency launch alert tone of about seven beeps and then it will go silent for 15 seconds. If after 15 seconds a missile is still being radar-guided on you, the tone will repeat but at a lower tone. This pattern will continue until the radar is no longer in missile guidance mode. The target separate button now correctly separates a group of over overlapping emitters along the azimuth rather than incorrectly spreading them along heading. Only the priority emitter will be at its “true” scope location. Upon pressing the SYSTEM TEST BIT button, the RWR TEST BIT will run and display on the scope. Later, once we have a library of the pulse repetition frequency, or PRF, tones for each radar and operating mode, we will add the handoff mode that allows you to cycle the priority emitter and hear the PRF audio of it. In this next update we’ve hooked up a couple new items in the cockpit. The first is the tail hook. By setting the hook switch to the down position, the hook will be lowered. If then set to the up position, the hook will be slightly raised, but you’ll need to land and request a repair from the ground crew to fully raise it. Before you ask, we’d like to include the ground arrest system for airfields later, but there are currently no plans. I’m sure many of you will try it with the carrier though, good luck. The other cockpit item is the alternate landing gear handle, left mouse button clicking will allow the landing gear to drop using the same air pressure bottle as the tail hook. Note that the pressure is limited, and you probably cannot do both.4 points

Just to make it clear score enables people to: - view composition of enemy force (airframe + pilot) - can indicate if the focus is ground or air mission - can be used by player as battle damage assessment tool (player remembers own score and compares after firing the missile) I really think it is time to add the simple configuration option: this practically costs nothing.3 points

There should be no passive tracking if you drop the lock. There's nothing for the jammer to jam, therefore the RWR ringing is incorrect (you dropped the lock) and the missile tracking is also incorrect (jammer should shut down or at least stop jamming that channel - and no, the missile shouldn't just pick up and track any willy nilly ECM emission) Incorrect functioning in all respects. If you're not locking that target the jammer has no reason to operate. May or may not be correct. If your contact maneuvers after enaging ECM, the track may be considered 'dead' and will not be correlated again. The missile should fly to that track and attempt to track its target, but exactly how all of this would be mechanized in-flight for the missile with respect to its own seeker trying to track an ECM contact is unknown. P-STT is for older sparrows, don't quote me on this but I believe the radar in P-STT doesn't generate data-link signals for the phoenix, and the phoenix seeker cannot use P-STT so it'll just go active off the rail.2 points

This would indeed add a lot to a more lifelike environment on airfields. Also an external bleed air cart (with those typical big bore air hoses) would be cool to see. And icing on the cake would be two versions: one with rolled out air hose and one stowed version.2 points

Request to add more Ground Support equipment to the list of static objects that can be placed to make the ramp look more active and realistic. I see that there are US Navy equipment units and deck crew for use on carriers or shore bases. Can we have a set for US Air Force Bases, both vintage and more modern. For example: Start Carts: MA-1 (1950's & 60's), MD-3 and more modern A/M32-60 from the 70's & 80's Tow Tractors: Harlan and Clarktor tow tractors and MD-1 Universal Aircraft Tow Bar Munitions Loading: MJ-1 Bomb Loader, MHU-83 Bomb Loader, MHU-12 Munitions Trailer Refueling Trucks: R9, R11 and similar refueling trucks, not just the M978 HEMTT Ground Personnel: USAF ground crew, similar to USN carrier deck crew in animation.2 points

Sounds strange. I just tested the asset (without other mods as a precaution) and had no issues firing the ATACMS. The only asset on the map at that point was the HIMARS. No other vehicles or anything. In regards to the ATACMS looking like the 6 pack. It's intentional by the manufacturer, on the ATACMS there are just covers on the front/back/top that makes it look like a 6 pack too make it hard for the foe to separate the kind of loadout you have. When it's fired the front/back covers are destroyed and you can see the one large hole. It shouldn't need any kind of control vehicle, unlike the M270 MLRS. I intentionally made it standalone. And I just tested it this way, as I wrote above. Make sure you adhere to the range limitations, both minimum and maximum range lines are showing in the ME. By the way, I'm not completely happy with the reload action, so I'm updating it at the moment. The ATACMS version will be able to reload two times (for a total of three missiles including the preloaded one). This will emulate the capacity of a Mk37 Resupply truck. Every reload will take 5 minutes.2 points

It looks like we're seeing progress, but slowly and independent of forum discussions. It mostly seems to be people throwing attitude around in response to any skeptical thinking applied to the FM, with the FM silently being tuned to address it just like the excessive adverse yaw issue. Best to avoid bringing it up for your own sanity/faith in humanity and wait for improvements to come when they come. I've given up on any kind of civil discourse here.2 points

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so please keep it civil. Having said that, the AH-64D's FCR is like an optional external sensor pod. Removing it is simply removing a sensor option, nothing more. It would be like saying the F-16C is only iconic because of its HTS pod, and removing it somehow detracts from the aircraft in other ways aside from removing a sensor. I think that for many fans and advocates of the AH-64, its performance in Desert Storm prior to the FCR even existing, as well as its use in several conflicts in the past 20 years (such as Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, 98% of which was without FCR's), is what has made this aircraft iconic and legendary in its own right.2 points

According to the interview with the Luftwaffe Eurofighter pilot in the Fighter Pilot Podcast, they are only using GPS and Laser-guided weapons. The canards block the pilot from having a good view of ground targets for traditional bombing runs, so they're not using general purpose bombs like the Mk83/84. That was quite an interesting tidbit of information.2 points

yes is a common issue, because the device when lost track it figures out how the fingers are positioned , try to don't have near sources with high reflection (even monitor), and if you can tilt a little the device in the headset (15º more or less ) to point in down direction . Mine works fine with this config, now I have to separate a little from my monitor in order not to touch it when I extend my arms. Here is how I configured my device... one more thing...If you installed the device years ago, with the old drivers, make sure you remove all the garbage stuff in your main directory. It is the suggestion on the ultraleap page Hope It helps2 points

Our F-4E has dive toss, this is like a pseudo CCRP mode, you have the WSO lock the main lobe clutter from the radar in the air-gnd mode (don't be fooled this is the same as boresight pretty much but the antenna doesn't move when locked and the range scale can be greater than 5 nmi) then the pilot puts the pipper on the target as accurately as possible and depresses the bomb release, this tells the computer what the slant range is and it computes the target point, then using the INS the computer figures out when to drop the bomb so it hits the target.2 points

@OnReTech, thank you very much for being so interactive and responsive. I have seen that Northstar was so nice and has provided you with kmz. files, thanks. This is also where my file is from. Adding these sites will make it incredibly more realistic to fly in these extremely SAM covered areas for Egypt and also help mission builders. Again thank you and everyone involved very much for the work!2 points

My father's brother's cousin's nephew's college roommate knew somebody who knew somebody involved with the AHIP program in the '80s as well as some involved in TF118 back in the day. The reason for being against these additional weapons is that without any real data on employment, you're guessing as to how they were integrated into the aircraft. The documentation only covers the authorized and approved weapons loads, not fantasy or test loads. If you throw in guesswork, then anything becomes possible: you in essence have ~1600lbs to work with, which means everything up to and beyond a B61 is theoretically possible. Even if you dial it back to say, TOW, you're still trying to guess as to how such a weapon would be integrated into the MMS and fire control. FYI: they did actually employ M261 pods a couple times during TF118's deployment, but this involved removing the MMS and a severely reduced fuel load. This loadout was abandoned in short order due to the performance inhibitions (~1050lbs for the rockets + ~500lbs for the crew leaves only ~200lbs available for fuel when removing the MMS). It worked because they basically just told the weapons computer they had 38 rockets onboard (the 58D never had the AH-1E/F/AH-64's RMS). Get an appropriate variation and it's part of the suite. Most examples are from the AH-64E series, which is markedly different from the variant simulated in DCS. Alternatively, a DJP from Mitsubishi would fit, but you're going to have to give up your CMWS and flare packs for it. The testbed A model had significant issues with Stinger integration in the 80s; there's a document available on dtic.mil that's distribution A describing how they integrated it. Among the issues identified: no way to cue the seeker; no way to cage/uncage the seeker; no integration with the FCS (gross safety issues as a result); difficulty in determining lock status; and a host of other issues. Find the (open source) documentation for how the weapon is integrated to the aircraft, then make your case. If you desire to make fantasy loads available, then perhaps DCS is not the game you're looking for. ATAS on the other hand was an approved loadout for 58A/C/D models and it was also widely hated. The words described to me at one point were "yuk ATAS, what a POS!"2 points

Baltic, great campaign. Hey- just to clarify, Fahrenheit is used for sea surface temperature because that is what the national data buoy center uses. Every squadron has a slightly different SOP, but when operating in warning areas over the ocean or any international waters with buoy data, we have to check sea surface temperatures. https://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/ Basically, when windchill is below a certain temp and water temps are below 50s in Fahrenheit, we are required to wear exposure suits. That way we have a chance of surviving post ejection based on SAR asset recovery times. FYI- I am a former Tomcat RIO, still flying as a reservist. Currently attached to NAWDC. FYI x2 - we all HATE these suits.2 points

If you warmup your mavericks during startup, you can boresight them before taxi/takeoff in 1-2 minutes depending on how many you're carrying. I'd suggest you simply practice boresighting so you can do it quickly and efficiently instead. I don't think we should make the aircraft less realistic just because people can't be bothered to learn how to start their aircraft in a timely manner. What else should we remove? JHMCS alignment? INS alignment? Why not just hot start/air start at that point?2 points

In this DCS: F/A-18C Hornet video, we’ll look at some of the changes coming to the Electronic Warfare, or EW, page. This consists of new ALR-67 symbols and enhancement. It’s important to understand that enhancements are regarding an existing emitter contact on the EW display, they cannot be displayed independent of an emitter symbol. Let’s get started. First, we have a new symbol for Early Warning Radars, or EWRs. These are the large, low-frequency radars that operate independently of a SAM site. These now appear as stylized radar dish. Another new symbol is for radar-guided anti-aircraft artillery units like ZSU-23-4 or Gepard. This appears as a bent line with two protruding lines on the top. Now let’s look at some of the new symbol enhancements. First is an open-X symbol that will surround an emitter symbol that is also jamming. If the FLIR is slaved to an emitter on the EW page, a circle will surround the correlated symbol. When a HARM is handed off to emitter also on the EW page, a staple will be drawn below the EW symbol indicating the two are correlated. If an EW symbol is correlated with a friendly radar contact, a hemisphere will appear above the symbol. If, however, the radar contact is ambiguous, it will appear as a staple above the symbol.2 points

Unit, date, deployment? Outside of safety tests, there was no operational usage. Again, the testing was in support for the F upgrade, which shaved a couple hundred pounds off the empty weight. Only a handful of the modified GAU-19/Bs were delivered for this test routine. If you went to any operational unit and checked their TOE, you wouldn't find the GAU-19 on the list. The reason is that the OH-58D always struggled with weight, especially at the end of its service life. The GAU-19/B still clocked in at about twice the weight of the M296 and brought with it a number of other problems. The M134 is a similar situation, except now you're also reducing the caliber and thus your range and power. In light of this, the M296 was more than adequate for the job, and the saved weight could be put into fuel or munitions (and maybe the crew could have Big Macs for lunch instead of a small fruit cup). Won't clear the ground, in addition to the aforementioned weight problems. Somewhere I have a picture of a 58D with a M261 rocket pod and the edge is literally centimeters shy of the ground. Sources? Test beds don't count, because otherwise there's a lot more than you might be aware of. Off the top of my head: 20mm cannon in place of copilot's seat, TOW launchers with sight above copilots head (this was so heavy they could barely takeoff), 7 cluster rocket pod launchers, 6 cluster rocket pod launchers (same as the 7 shots on UH-1), 7.62mm gunpods, M296 on the starboard side, DAGR pods on the M272 rails, and FIM-43 launchers in streamlined housings. These were all aviation test loadouts that never attained operational nor safe usage and most were on the older A/C model (in preparation to arm the at the time upcoming D model).2 points

But possible is not realistic, almost anything is 'possible' given enough time, money and resources, but that doesn't mean it is realistic. It would be 'possible' to mount just about anything to a KW (why not AGM-65? Why not 40mm grenade launchers? Pretty much anything could be made to work given the necessary operational requirements), but just look at the fuss kicked up when APKWS was requested for the Viper. Very much possible, plausible, and realistic IRL, but still knocked back by ED. I know PC get to make their own decisions, but they have limited resources and this project has already dragged on for literally years. IMHO they should just focus on what is fitted IRL by KW operators and finish the product, without wasting effort on experimental loadouts which very few would actually use. Quad Hellfires? Would you like any fuel to go with your helo? Why not eight Hellfires and get a Chinook to sling load you to the fight? The KW is in essence a light-weight recce platform with some self-defence or CAS capability, not an attack helicopter. I suggest the Apache might be more up your street if that is the experience you are looking for.2 points

Thank you. There is no exact release date yet. Let me just say that we are at the final stage of the 2nd phase. As soon as we finish it, we will start testing the map with the second phase enabled... I don't think it will take much time2 points
