I will be doing plenty of 47F tutorials on the 47Driver YouTube channel as soon as it releases in EA. Unfortunately, I don't and will not have access to the module sooner than that. I am an active CH-47F pilot, and I plan on doing a series of simple/straight forward tutorials as well as some more in depth content on the aircraft as well. Thanks!9 points

AIM-174B for F/A-18C 1.1.0 released! On popular demand I chose to release the AIM-174B (air launched version of the SM-6 Block Ia without the MK72 booster) for the F/A-18C. It's nothing fancy, it was made to be used with the player controlled Hornet, but will of course be limited by its radar performance. It will replace your AIM-120B and will break IC. Credits Thanks to ED for the F/A-18C and its configuration files. Installation Unpack files in the main DCS program folder (not your DCS Saved Games folder) and overwrite. I recommend using OvGME as it allows for easy installation and uninstallation of the mod. Distribution model It's available for download on my site. And as usual, please don't redistribute it! Disclaimer This was just a quick side project and I won't spend time supporting it, feel free to play around with the missile configuration to tune its performance.7 points

Late to the party here, but I can indeed confirm that the Chinook is a very easy helicopter to fly when the AFCS is on and everything is working. She's also incredibly powerful and maneuverable. I will absolutely NEVER forget bringing the Engine Condition Levers to flight for the first time and feeling the sheer power of the aircraft around me. Terrifying and awesome at the same time. Don't let the ease of maneuverability keep you from giving the aircraft a try, though. It's an absolute blast to fly and can do some amazing things. She's incredibly nimble for her size, and when she's not heavy with cargo you'd be shocked at what this aircraft can do. If DCS keeps up their track record of accurately representing flight models, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Time will tell, but I'll be sure to give my opinions on the flight model when the module is released into EA on my Youtube channel, 47Driver.6 points

Added a new section to the FAQ: What does Early Access, Features and such mean for Terrain and how does it compare to Aircraft modules? (ADDED) We have noticed some confusion on what Early Access means for a terrain, especially one being sold with the possibility of owning only 1 or 2 parts. Features on a Terrain can be described as things like Airfields, Cities, POI's and such. Saying the SW portion is mostly feature complete it's for these types of objects and areas. What it doesn't mean is that those areas are necessarily done in layout or textures, all these things can change during Early Access. This also goes for textures, for example, some have pointed out areas where highly detailed abruptly bump up against low detailed areas. Even in the SW regions, this is still very much WIP. The challenge of doing a huge map like this is maintaining a reasonable size and performance. The idea here is to get the most out of the high-detail areas for all 3 areas, then go back and see how much we can push those medium-detail areas you would see between High and Low areas. If we were to complete the SW area before the others and push it to max levels before the other 2 areas were in, we run the risk of having an unmanageable sized map, or one with poor performance, and would require us to go back and pull some detail out. This is a very new way of doing a map, along with one of the biggest and most detailed maps to date, there will be some growing pains and it will look rough in places at times. We appreciate all those who are willing to continue on this EA with us, and we look forward to all your feedback and reports on the map!6 points

Slight improvement. Replaced Yosemity Sam with TerrorBusters logo. Moved MP Crossed Pistols where AirCav Crossed Swords Wings or Cav unit guideon would be. Kept it slightly mettalic glossy. As thats how I perceive aviation metal. Even when painted and weathered, the water vapor and sunlight and air stream still give it slight gloss. Even on tactical matte finishes of modern combat rotaries. Also my RTX effects desaturates in game by 15% and blooms slightly. So your look may vary. Funfact. On night time missions, I set RTX effects to desat almost 100%. Army_MP_Sec_TerrorBusters.zip5 points

To clarify my comment about "youtuber" reviewers that don't know what FFB is, I wasn't necessarily speaking about Spudknocker (I'm not that familiar with what he does). My annoyance is about a general trend of asinine review, offering insights about how "solid it feels", and that "it's made of metal and high quality plastics", and "it moves smoothly to all 4 corners"...pretending as if they're not just throwing out another monetized review that's as pointless as AI generated youtube content. In fairness, some of the dumb videos were at the expo, where anybody could make a video. But the few I've seen of people receiving a unit from Moza have not been informational, despite having hollywood levels of production quality. Yeah sure, they might be flight simmers, but if they don't understand the physics or effects that FFB is modeling, then their input is pretty pointless. It would be like Nikon sending a flagship DSLR camera to people that say they like taking pictures. You might get a really relevant review, or you might get someone complaining they can't take selfies with it. All I'm saying is that Moza's selection of influencer-type reviewers may end up causing more harm than good.. Too many youtubers are self-promoters and are more interested in buzz that generates them clicks. That said, it seems like most product launches for anything in general these days all seem to follow the same formula...the manufacturer picks their chosen reviewers, sends them product or invites them to an old-school "press junket".... and the very next day you have the EXACT same drivel being put out by 100 different youtubers, all with the EXACT same *jazz-hands* thumbnail...ugh. Seriously, I'd rather watch AI content just for the giggles I get from hearing mispronounced words by a voicebot with an australian accent. Spudknockers comment about the stick not getting full throw is really a problem with the mount geometry and dimensions, not the FFB stick proper. I mean, a mount is not exactly high technology. He could have simply gotten in contact with them to tell them the mount has incorrect or insufficient dimensions for the setup he's using, and tell them he's unable to review it as a mount/FFB package until they send him an appropriate mount, because he doesn't want to crush his trigger finger. That's assuming Moza intends on selling a purpose built mount. He chose to announce this caution to the general public...no big deal I guess, besides bad press for Moza (which would be Moza's error ultimately, even if I don't want to see them get bad press). If Moza graced Spudknocker with a FFB stick, it's because they want the exposure that his review will generate, so I'm sure they would send out an appropriate mount pretty quickly. On the other hand, maybe Spudknocker doesn't care about mounting it in a way that will allow a proper review. I guess we'll see when he releases his video review. Hopefully it's not full of comments such as "made of metal and high quality plastics" and talking about how smooth it feels when it's powered off I'm rooting for Moza and FFB in general. I'd hate for Moza to have marketing missteps and set back FFB unnecessarily. I hope their marketing team was briefed by engineering that this unit is NOT, in any way, designed to work on *top* of a desk (the stick grip would probably be at neck level on most people, which could cause someone to get clubbed in the chin lol). Sorry, but if somebody feels it's elitist to say you shouldn't use this on top of a desk, well then, they don't really understand what FFB is and they'd be royally wasting their money. That said, it would be wise for Moza to offer a lowered desk mount for this specific unit to let the casual gamer use it appropriately, easily, and safely. So if they are sending them out for reviews, the mount needs to have the correct dimensions. But if Moza does not intend to produce a mount for it, then they need to make it very clear that the reviewer/purchaser is responsible for figuring out a mounting solution (and they aren't responsible for crushed fingers or bloody noses lol).4 points

Adjusted existing skin set to make semi-fictional Army MP heliborne security. Saw something similar IRL around Rachel, NV, JB HIckam, and in vicinity of Elmendorf. Basically a counter infiltration and security. Actual aircraft are MD-500, UH-1N(USAF Sec Forces), and yet to be deployed USAF Grey Wolf suppourt/security helicopter. Made with Intel DDS Tecture Tools and Nvidia RTX Tools. Cheers Army_MP_Sec.rar4 points

Chuck's Guide to the F-15E Strike Eagle is finally available! The page count is 900+ pages. *** Link: https://chucksguides.com/aircraft/dcs/f-15e/ *** This project was a roller coaster from start to finish. Two cockpits, many heavily-integrated systems modelled to an unprecedented depth, RAZBAM-gate, a community ever-hungry for anything Eagle-related... and much more. It was a difficult endeavour to say the least, but your shared excitement to see it all come to fruition is what kept me going throughout these last months of sheer insanity. Happy reading! With the release of Afghanistan map, the Kiowa, the upcoming chinook and the previously released Apache infantry are becoming MUCH more relevant in DCS. There are countless threads on ground AI and behaviour but thats not what this is about We need more red and neutral infantry and emplacements, instead of just a stuck kneeling RPG soldier and a handful of units with AK-74s Specifically: Civilians: we need civilian assets (there are mods for vehicles but not infantry) as a common challenge in afghanistan thats relevant to these new modules is VID, and discerning enemy fighter from civilian bystander. Being able to have people on rooftops and in fields that the player cant just assume are enemy combatants would add a lot of depth to the game. I would suggest just a few models, male and female that would feel in place for a few of our maps. Enemies: a bit more variety here would be good, give us a mortar team that can pick up and move, a guy with a shovel (think planting IED), and a few variants of the generic rifleman ideally Emplacements: trenches, mounted machine guns, bunkers, etc basically statics that shoot, we need more of them, we need to be able to have a machine-gun or atgm position that is small, somewhat disguised, and able to engage targets, and most importantly isnt an infantry unit that will run in circles the moment the target returns fire Any amount of all of these will be a big help, not asking for new behaviours or AI in this, just a few more models basically.3 points

Hello everyone, I would like to write quickly here because I cannot create a topic in "DCS Core Wish List". First, excuse me for my limited English. Secondly, as the title suggests, it would be good to know if a Mi-6 helicopter as a heavy logistics helicopter would be welcome. For my part I loved having a rotary wing steel monster on DCS. With the development of logistics around the Chinook and the C-130 a Mi-6 type helicopter which was widely used by Vietnam, CCCP, China, Egypt and many other countries with 925 cells built. Which would be great for Cold War of all kinds, and maybe it would attract players like me who like spicy logistics. And then it’s an iconic CCCP helicopter. Concerning the "technical sheets" if that helps: https://www.flight-manuals-online.com/product/mil-mi-6/ And for information or design on real things there is the Torjok Helicopter Museum in the North-West of Moscow for proximity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vg5SmqwMG58 https://youtu.be/6E1QzvRZ24o?si=da6SMjZq0O4WOKFF3 points

Despite what is happening, the jet is very effective in its current state and very fun to fly. Its actually one of the only jets I fly currently besides the F4E. I Really hope progress is made between ED and Razbam because it has so much potential to be the most badass piece of hardware in DCS. However, if it stayed the way it is and it just was kept functional I would still fly it.3 points

Watching your video and others in VR its plainly obvious it wasn't tested in VR before release, stuff like this should be picked up in beta testing and was picked up within hrs of the patch being released, its great to get all this functionality but its broken for VR uses as is This could be in a long list of things to fix and may never get fixed.3 points

As Wags stated in his video, he was just showing what is needed to get the CH-47F engines started. There are a lot of other things that will be added to the Early Access Guide over time, such as how to perform a flight controls check, setup the navigation systems, etc. But many of these checks are not needed to just go fly in the game; even the FADEC checks are not required despite being shown in the Early Access Guide procedures. If players want to run through every item that would be performed in real-life, they can certainly do that, but that wasn't the intent of the video. Personally, I never do a flight controls check when I get in the F-16 or F-18 either, but I think some people insist on speculating on things to start drama when it really isn't necessary. Not saying you were doing it, just agreeing with you it was hardly worth getting upset over. Don't read into the graphics showing the internal cargo loading. It just happened to show a graphic with four pallets numbered in a manner to illustrate the reverse loading concept and why you can't unload the pallets that are in front of others, not without cutting the aircraft in half.3 points

The recent patch has been great for those who love blowing up ground targets. No longer do ground units insta-360-no-scope aircraft like some aimbot using COD player. However I would suggest one added improvement to ground unit targeting. Currently, Terry Taliban sitting in the back of a Landcruiser jacked up on amphetamines is either the Terminator or he spouts a tracking and acquisition radar out of his back side every time he decides to shoot at an aircraft. My attempt at humor aside, the point is that ground fire for units like the LC DShk, which rely on the scientific wild ass guess method of aiming at fast moving air targets, are still WAY too accurate especially on their first burst. My suggested improvement is either: 1. The quick and dirty solution - lower base accuracy for ground units that do not have some sort of radar/tracking ability 2. The slightly more in depth solution - lower the base accuracy for the first burst. Accuracy increases with subsequent bursts but is a function of distance, aircraft speed, change of direction etc. If the aircraft leaves the ground unit's engagement zone the accuracy returns to the base accuracy value.3 points

Hi all, +++ updated 02.09.2024 +++ I uploaded my Kola Sandbox, a set of 55 slot based quick missions for 12 different aircraft This sandbox is intended to give the players a set of 55 quick missions on the Kola map, to offer single- or multicrew players some quick fun. In total there are 55 missions/slots available for Royal Norwegian Air Force, Swedish Air Force, Finnish Air Force, US Air Force, US Marine Corps and Russian Air Force. These include: Norway 7x F-16 3x F-5 (full fidelity AND FC4) Sweden 5x Viggen Finland 7x F/A-18 3x MiG-21 USA 5x F-15E 3x AV-8B 5x F-4E 5x A-10CII Russia 3x MiG-21 3x MiG-29 3x Su-33 3x Su-25A You will use air bases, road bases and carriers. You will intercept bombers, mingle with fighters, perform SEAD, conduct precision strikes with guided munitions, provide CAS with rockets, gunpods and dumb bombs and many more. What is this sandbox? It is intended to be an easily accessible set of quick missions for players of all skill levels. It offers a variety of F10 radio options to adapt the difficulty, like adding additional SHORAD or numbing down S-300s. Each of the slots has a unique task assigned. To provide a care free experience, the fligtplan is set, all neccessery radio frequencies are set, loadout is selected, tankers are available. But of course you can always adapt all this to your personal liking. The sandbox is also intended to be the user's personal Kola playing ground. You are a Hornet flyer and want to attack the target of Viper #4? Just grab it. You want to fly the JF-17 instead of the F-16? Just swap it. Users can also add new aircraft slots, like super carrier with Tomcats to their liking. The manual provides all neccessary frequencies and a list of target coordinates for maximum variety. Some highlights: + two versions of the mission - one with all aircraft (except for the Kuznetzov slots) set to cold start and one with all aircraft set to hot start. + Mission overview PDF with all relevant data + 18 page PDF manual + Enemy air assets that are slaved to a specific slot can be unlocked for any (added) aircraft via F10 options + various F10 options to set Red SAM behaviour While this set is intended for the single player, it should work well when used as multiplayer as well. Enjoy! https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3339556/2 points

Thanks for the comment, does HB have the ticket reporting likes ED has? So that we know what are issues have been reported. I guess that we built the list because there is no central point for users to report to. And, we, as users, are in the dark and no ideal How HB handles issues/concerns.2 points

if you want to get into A2G business then A8 is the way to go. You get 1 bomb + 2 rockets as a load out (obviously it's nothing compared to the blue planes, but still), and a radial motor that outlasts any other plane if damaged, it's extremely survivable, talking about flying 15-20 minutes with no oil and 1-2 cylinders shot out, it's pretty fun to nurse it back to home with all the damage. It's also decent in the dog-fights. You can easily take on the P47, and the noob-medium p51s. With 4 cannons + machine guns you can kill any plane head-on. The only advice I can give you is if you want to be great with its gunnery then learn it with the tracer-less ammo. You'll see better where you shots land on the ground and you can adjust it accordingly (walking it). The same with the dog-fights, you'll get a much better idea for deflection shots, etc.2 points

I've just pre-ordered in the UK. Moza make quality products, so I don't feel there's much risk on that part. Counting on there being a big backlog of orders when the proper reviews do start dropping (Spudknocker has probably done me a favour order number-wise, despite being a simple clamp issue!), and even if there turns out to be issues, I very much doubt the problem would be with hardware but software, which can be sorted out in time. Regardless, it's going to be better than my non-FFB base. Been on the fence for some time building a Rhino, but I've never committed due to time (and laziness!). This is the perfect option for me.2 points

I am working on a small campaign for the Hind in Afghanistan where one of the missions takes place at night, supporting a Spetsnaz ambush on a caravan. It's pitch black and you need to fly to the ambush site using the radio (F10 menu to get the Sptesnaz to transmit so you can orient yourself). Then in the actual ambush they fire illumination bombs every 120 seconds. But the bombs only last 90 seconds so you get 30 seconds of pitch dark. Have to time your runs with the flares otherwise you "black out" just as you are in full dive for a rocket run. Ends with having to pick them up using the landing light and fly back to the airbase. And no NVG because it's 1980. Fun little mission. Looking forward to getting this done for all the Hind afficianados.2 points

True. Mi-24V, F-16A, F-15A/C, AH-64A, Mi-8MT, CH-47B/D, MiG-21F-13 etc. would be awesome. And some 3rd parties like Aerges, Heatblur, Polychop are already making different variants, which is great. The core of the current problem with variants is, the criterion to chose between variants with available documentation, is not to chose the variant fitting the rest of DCS enviroment - but to model always just the most modern we have access to, even if it means it won't fit ANYTHING in DCS, no other AI or flayable aircrafts, no ground or sea assets, no campaigns. Unfortunately often it means the modules in limbo.2 points

Regarding forum registration, with gmail I never got the confirmation but with protonmail I got it within seconds. I think ED don't like gmail accounts for some reason. I'm using both programs, only issue so far is engine rumble and/or vibrations continue even with the engine shut down. Other than that I regard the software (Haptic and Realistic) as superb. The other major pro is that with Andre's software I had to have my amp volume nearly maxed; with the Simhaptic stuff it's dialled way back.2 points

I've got mixed feelings about variant modules. I'm not going to say no to them, for example, I would love to have love to have a proper period correct Hind for the Afghanistan map. Early model F-teens. I am always thankful when a module contains multiple variants. On the other hand, I also want to see other aircraft and vehicles added to DCS. So you always have to think which would do more for DCS? The F-16A or the F-105D? just like we also have to think would a new module or a new map or even bug fixes work? I'm not saying they shouldn't be done just the DCS Community's theme song was written by Queen, it's called I want it all I've said it before, I would love to see ED and the other developers come up with a variant module pricing model where the price is based on the amount of work necessary to produce the variants.2 points

Did some tests. AI wingmen can't take off from ground because they drift sideways, roll over with skids going into the ground and explode. Some bug there. They have to start in the air. But they seem to follow my radio menu commands (if radio is set right) and reply with "copy". I managed to get my AI wing to jettison weapons, cover me, pincer right, RTB, etc. Just that he seems to do it all at some strangely high altitude separation above me (I was in active pause at 500ft AGL though). But as for engaging enemy ground targets, he won't comply ("unable"). As for the frag/smoke grenades and weapon combo loadouts, they should appear in the cockpit whether correctly or incorrectly as described in my earlier post. Give it a try.2 points

Who said we are not happy? We have launched the early access southwest Afghanistan, it is work in progress and work continues, we have outlined our plans in the FAQ thread with the other regions to follow in due course. Early access is just that, its early access for the development of the product. Some people don't like the early access model we understand that, and I think that is part of the frustration for some, but early access enables us to bring these products to you all, and it is very popular. Sales have been good and that allows us to continue the production of the product. Good constructive feedback is essential for the betterment of the product. thank you2 points
