Good Day Everyone, In order to restore FC3 Dependent mods that utilize the Old = x System, You have to force load them on startup, In the \Mods\Aircraft\ Folders for: A-10A F-15C MIG-29 Su-25A Su-27 Su-33 There are entry.lua files You will need to open these files, and add a line below the binaries block Add: load_immediately = true, And save the LUA File, This will tell DCS to load the Binaries at DCS Startup, Allowing mods that used Old = x to run as they did before 2.9.6.5 points

Does that mean that the screenshots don't have to be "previously published or submitted in other contests" or are only screenshots allowed which are never published before, including the various screenshot threads in this forum? If the last one is true, please delete this post as all three were shown in threads on the DCS forum before, although worked over a little bit. These are the originals. Thank You. MiGCap4 points

Hello everyone, while searching through my archives I found photos of my stay in Afghanistan in the Kapisa valley in 2008 - 2009. With these photos I pay tribute to the ground personnel and the CHINOOK crews who participated in the operations alongside us. May they be blessed for their dedication and professionalism. CH-47F Chinook of Company B - "Varsity", 7th Battalion, 101st Airborne Division CH-47F Chinook of Company B - "Pachyderms", 6th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division and others that I have not identified...... Photos on board.... And various missions.... oups ! after an eventful flight the panel left its place without authorization !2 points

No air to air refueling, Wags mentioned in the youtube comment of the recent take off video that only the MH-47 Chinook has that. And hinted at wanting to correct the misleading store page info.2 points

Both variants are flyable yes, and requires the DCS: F-5E Binaries -C Skoshi Tiger uses F-5E(-1?) shape with the pointed nose, but there is cockpit clipping because that model doesn't have the removal of the side walls and panel hood like the -3. -E Export Tiger uses F-5E-3 shape and works flawlessly, Both versions have the ability to add the AAR, Antennae, and Wingtip tanks etc. As for the AGMs, I haven't tested the bullpups, the AI uses them, But for Mavs, I started coding a addon system that puts the display over the radar, however it has an issue where it never goes away after being activated even once you've depleted your MAV stores, so I'm working on that, and the system wont be publicly added until I can finish it properly. Along with addon Fueltank systems. (Allowing use of the Wingtip tanks, as well as full AAR capability), these systems will take a while to properly code and integrate, as the FM/F-5E systems don't have the wetlines to the pylons, nor the AAR Transfer switch in the systems or cockpit. The point of including new versions was to help with mission building, as well as make it so the mod is 100% in SG and does not require modifying core files. User can use the Export Tiger and have all the capabilities of the -E-3 Plus addons, without having to modify their DCS Core files to add things. I plan to develop more addon systems for the cockpit as soon as I can get the core package done and clean. I'm also looking into FCS Versions.2 points

Morning CH. This German asset pack is an absolute beauty, you’ve outdone yourself good sir! An idea to flesh out a couple of your other packs came to mind yesterday when I saw news that Turkey has just launched one of the Ada class corvettes that it has been building for Ukraine. Could this be something you look into to add to both Turkey and Ukraine’s pack? And whilst on Ukraine, the Bohdana 2S22 self propelled howitzer I think would be another fantastic addition to your Ukraine pack and is something that the Ukrainians are ramping up production of. Obviously take your excellent mods and decisions on them where you will, just food for thought.2 points

It depends on your selection in the Special Options. Its called the Headtracking Origin and you can select between two types: Center and Dynamic. If you picked Center, you can shift the Center point to your natural head center (important for VR) by using the offset options next to it. Details of how it works in our manual: https://f4.manuals.heatblur.se/dcs/special_options.html#allow-head-tracking2 points

not what i expect at all, however it is reasonable to expect them to have a different ground texture down low in these areas that isn't a low res sat image so that there arent 2D building images baked into the terrain.2 points

When you select the trailer in the mission editor, select the three dots on the right side of the screen, near where the loadout editor would be for an aircraft2 points

He doesnt yet hear AWACS calls, but that is being worked on. Try acquiring the head-on lock yourself, you will likely have trouble doing it as well and conclude it is mostly just the radar and not necessarily Jester using it incorrectly. His shortcomings in that regard currently are not experimenting with the gain setting enough, which is also being worked on. You can help us by sending in working tracks of situations where he wasnt able to spot the target, but you were (by operating the radar yourself). Aspect and Vc settings have no influence on the radar, those are manual overrides. What plays a role here, aside from the pilot positioning the aircraft proper, is the correct antenna angle and gain setting. And even then, a head-on small target will be very hard to spot until perhaps 15-20nm out in good conditions. Thats just how this radar works. Please make sure you have a solid understanding of how to operate the radar in order to ensure your Jester complains are valid. If unsure, just hand in tracks :) Cheers2 points

Hi, this is not a bug, rather a design feature. In the real aircraft, a force proportional and opposite to the stick displacement velocity is applied to the stick. So, no matter how much force is applied to the stick, there will always be a sort maximum displacement speed on it. Taking this into account in the simulation is very important for a feeling as close as the real aircraft as possible. The best way to represent this in-game is to include a maximum displacement speed for the stick, that way, small corrections are unaffected (as would be the case in real life) while drastic, instantaneous movements are impossible.2 points

You see before words like “ not on par with,” or “is not a counter part” were being used, To me that does not mean “isn’t equal in some ways,” but roughly similar, with the end result depending more on how it is used. F-16C gets AMRAAM in 1992, that’s 8 years of MiG-29 having the longer stick in addition to its WVR edge. MiG-31 is here in 1984 before F-14D or AIM-54C If we want to bring production numbers, who operates what, and turn this into a “who would win war at certain dates based on number of airframes, or if both countries fight a battle with only these two aircraft they have at the time” then there’s not much I can say. For example, I do not subscribe to the idea that the MiG-31 only being capable of 5 G is somethIng that makes it “not comparable/on par with F-16/F-14” because it gains quite a lot of capability from not focusing on BFM. Speed, missile payload, PESA and wide angle IRST, data link with other assets such as Su-27, EWR, and MiG-23P. There is a lot of advantages over western airframes at the end of Cold War, even iF those advantages were eroded away. Does F-14/16 get PESA/AESA before 21st century? Did F-14D with its IRST, fielded in 1991 , operate in comparable numbers to MiG-31 at the same timeframe? Was it able to offload targets digitally to other platforms with less radar range? If our MiG-31 crew is at the same level as say our F-14/16 crew, will the MiG-31 just happily merge against their training and into a situation they know has the odds against them? Is anything western at the time able to intercept at Mach 2.8 over 20 km? Are we putting equal emphasis on BVR/WVR? Are we going to assume the western pilots are better from more flight hours? We could go on forever like this! Does Phoenix beat R-33 in range? Yes. Did F-16C get AIM-120A in 1992? Did MiG-29S get R-77 in 1991 while having R-27 variants since 84? Yea. Is MiG-29/31 comparable in role and use to F-14/16? I believe so. Does Russia begin to lose the advantages they inherited from USSR because of economy until modernization post-2010? Of course If you include China on red side like you mention, and take into account how these assets are supported and used, it becomes more grey? I think so, especially say 2005-2010. Or are the US jets also not comparable to USSR jets in certain ways also? For a long time they are lacking HOBS TVC missiles with HMS, AESA/PESA, IRST focus, or a widely deployed and cross platform compatible GCI datalink unless you want to pit F-106 against MiG-29/31? Is MiG-31 designed for BFM or meant to be used that way? Or perhaps is it’s lack of maneuverability a compromise to fly faster and higher than any Western fighter with the first PESA and likely the longest range IRST of the Cold War. Does F-14 being designed to carry bombs/rockets in the rare event it was needed mean it wasn’t built or designed to be a Long range missile carrier like MiG-31? I apologize for making this such a long message. I just can’t accept that a missile being shorter ranged, or having AMRAAM after 92, or low production numbers and lack of domestic sales automatically disqualify any MiG from being comparable. But I completely understand that if real war broke out, the advantages of these eastern platforms will have the odds stacked against them. How about, 4 MiG-31 against 4 F-14, 4 MiG-29 against 4x F-16C. Equal skill and tactical situation. Are they “comparable” or on par? Are the F-14/16 pilots going to dismiss MiG-31 as not having an advantage and to not worry since it will be easy to kill it WVR if Phoenix doesn’t work? What if it’s 1987 and MiG-29 has R-27R against AIM-9 only F-16C? US vs USSR/Russia? Sure US will win. Does that have a lot to do with economy and logistics? Sure. Personally, I find economics and logistics somewhat boring, and airplanes much more fun to talk about.2 points

Good Morning Everyone, Happy Friday. My account was disabled because it was giving off spam. With that said please change your passwords often and enable two-factor authentication if you can. I am still recovering from my procedure so I'm not back to 100% yet. Getting there slowly. As requested Rudel, I have created a livery for the Chilean Kaiser Class Oiler Almirante Montt. I changed the Hull Number, Updated the Stern name, changed the Lifeboat textures and also removed the Blue/yellow bands on the Stacks/Exhaust. See below. The livery can be found in the link below. Version 1.0.3 I will look over the Italian Mods this weekend. I may release them separately as I didn't realize how much work the FREMM frigate would be. Stay Tuned and thanks for your patience. https://sites.google.com/view/admiral189dcsworldmods/warships?authuser=02 points

On popular demand... the German asset pack update 1.1.0 will include the IRIS-T SLM system, with the launcher, the TRML-4D radar and C2 vehicle. And it's of course equipped with the IRIS-T SL medium range SAM. These assets wouldn't be possible without the efforts of @HE5405, who made the meshes for both the launcher and the radar!2 points

It's been 3 years since the weather presets released. Can we please get some storm options, would love to have a lightning storm going on. Some snow/winter presets etc. Yes I know you can do this with the old weather options but the clouds are just layered and ugly. Or lowering the temp so the rain is snow.1 point

Selling my mixed heli/fixed wing gear, because I upgraded to a Rhino and no longer need it =). All gear is in perfect working condition with minimal wear. Most cams and springs have never been installed. One base (fixed wing) comes installed with #50A + #10A springs for a strong centering force. The other (rotary) comes with tightened clutches and #10A springs. Looking to sell everything together for 550 EUR/600 USD + shipping, but could be persuaded to split it into two different bundles for separate buyers, if there is interest and I can't place it all at once. UPDATE: Grip + 1 base + 1 extension sold. Remaining for sale: 1 base + 1 extension Asking: 175 EUR/192 USD + shipping UPDATE 2: everything sold1 point

Definitely start in 2d… the VR rabbit hole is very very deep… and a bit like crack cocaine … there is never enough… I would agree , dcs is very VRAM demanding and 4080 super /4090 be what I would recommend, if you were upgrading your CPU/MB if not then honestly a good second hand 2080ti would likely pair well for your current cpu …1 point

Hey Nineline, Thanks for the response. May i ask why that is a very low priority?. As i said it is a pretty integral part of the start up and would add alot more system fidelity to the aircraft to do with Errors and FLCS stuff. EDIT: just to add, this would make basically every person ive met who flies the F16 regularly very happy. Alot of people that i know of complain about this part of the F16.1 point

AFAIK, they (ORT) released their fixes to ED for integration testing a couple of weeks ago, so it is (currently) out of their, and in ED‘s hands to finalize and publish. I understand that you are frustrated (it has been way too long for an update), but currently we wait for ED, not ORT.1 point

Old post but this is a much needed update. UH1 is a classic and it's really fun to play, like driving and doing maintenance of a 60 year old car. But interior is pretty outdated in details and textures and that hits the inmersion factor in VR.1 point

I only fly in VR, so generally I can always forgive some inaccuracies in modeling as long as it results in good optimization and good FPS. Please remember that it must be a compromise between appearance and performance. You can certainly do everything in more detail, but this will require more requirements. People sometimes forget about this. @RealDCSpilot made quite a good analysis here and, in fact, it is worth paying attention to it because it will affect the optimization of the model as well.1 point

F-111C/F add-on on 'competing' platform made me cry. It is so gorgeous! Made me cry, I want it so bad on DCS. Charlie for Oz friends. Foxtrot for the rest of us. Were late 1970's to mid 1980's really that awesome for NATO Cold War combat aviation? The golden age. Harriers, Jaguars, F-4E's, F-15A, F-16A, F-111, Tornados, B-52s, B-1Bs, AlphaJets, F-104G (NATO), A-4M, Mirages, G-911 point

Is the plane's nose oscillating up and down in reaction to the stab going up and down only visual??? I'm sorry, but what?? I am really struggling to understand the disconnects here (both in the discussion, and in the F-4's virtual flight controls). It's not only the case on the ground -- watch the end of maksim's video at 15:45 as he lets the plane nose over close to the stall. His physical joystick is centered, yet the stab and in-game stick are fully forward. Pretty sure he's in the air there! I don't want to get used to it because it is broken. It does not fly like a real aircraft in this one critical regard. I get that you do not want to accept that assertion, and that's your prerogative as well. I also get that most players don't know enough to understand what's going on as they don't fly aircraft in real life. Maybe one day, if they ever get a chance to learn, they'll understand that they sometimes actually have to push back against the controls in order to make them do what they want.1 point

It was discussed, alongside the F-20 after the F-5 was released. 16XL aside,... it is a good practice to have a look at the pattern which aircraft are picked to be modules or desired to be modules by developers. [Low amount of Redfor aircraft in full fidelity is due to other issues, and they are highly desired. MiG-23 and 29A will break my wallet day 1 of release for sure]. What I gather is that usually are aircraft that have seen active deployment in the world. Even the Ka-50 saw war, and that's the current DCS module that has seen less action besides the trainer jets. Documentation is also needed to develop a worthwhile module to have a high degree of fidelity and functionalities. They are not cheap to make or buy, so they have to be worth the investment. I find it unlikely to have DCS experimental aircraft modules in the short to medium future for their cost, appeal, capabilities, compatibility with realistic scenarios, documentation. I may be inaccurate in the observations made, I apologize in advance if so.1 point

Currently we have functions to draw all kinds of shapes on the map in realtime (trigger.action.circleToAll, markupToAll, etc.), but as far as I can see there is no way to set or change the line thickness of a new or existing shape. Since there are functions that change the color, line type and fillcolor among others this just seems like an oversight and should not be too hard to add. Having the thickness as a parameter in the draw functions would also be a real convenience. Thanks1 point
