Thanks, Ironghost, your right. We have to take care of ourselves. Most will never understand until they are disabled. Hello everyone, as promised. I have released the ITS Cavour Aircraft Carrier. I broke the Thaon di Revel Class mod code yesterday so I'm piecing her back together one code at a time. I will release her once I finish. *** As mentioned. There is a known issue with the AI Player AH-64 Apache helicopter, it creates lag when spawning onboard the ITS Cavour. All other AI Player aircraft FPS were above 100. Not sure why the AH-64 creates a problem. I don't have the Kiowa for testing. *** Also, you may or may not see issues with the Aster 15 Missile exploding on launch. I'm working to resolve that issue. Keep in mind all we do is code the mods. DCS Game engine decides what it wants to do with the code. Please report any major technical issues. It's best you PM me. I don't monitor the forums much while I'm working on the mods. -- Next up is the French and Italian Horizon Class Frigates. Thank you all for your patience. Please enjoy the mod.13 points

Seems to me that you are projecting your DCS use-case onto the whole community. It may be a surprise to some, but not everyone here is a competitive multiplayer gamer, there are some users who actually enjoy the simulation, and learning the in and outs of a new DCS aircraft and dont care if it is not an ultra modern aircraft .. I can even enjoy a Fw190 or a Sabre, dont need a super missile to be a happy Simmer.7 points

Our Lanc flew at the virtual airshow with the BBMF maybe @Scoobyon has a recording somewhere? Mini dev update regarding what im doing: Finally, some significant process on multicrew. I've got some system state syncing between pilot/other position, but the Lanc in its own way is pretty daunting for a 7 player multicrew implementation. So the folks over at caffeine simulations are letting me use their rapidly progressing T38C mod as a test bed, also helps that @Hayds_93 is a fellow low life with plenty of time on his hands and a compatible time zone to mine, so thats where most of the work has been tested so far. I aim for multicrew to be as seamless in comparison to (great) mods like the C130 and Uh60 where theres some configuration in text files and port forwarding needed... so seeing how i can get around that requirement and make it as easy as an official module. Im pretty sure the DCS game host's server is the one that handles the connection for official modules... curse locked down SDK for making me circumvent ED. Thats about all i've been working on and is its own little feat. I'll leave the other updates for Lok' and Scoob who are working on that stuff should they care to comment... Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all those eagerly awaiting DCS Lancaster, I look forward to DCS's WW2 future in 2025 as it seems like theres a few things cooking that could be released soon. All in good time.7 points

Good Morning Everyone, Thank you all for your kind words. It means a lot. Most people don't understand the mental impact of being disabled by pain. So I appreciate it. It's good to know some of you care and I thank you all for that. That is why I will continue to provide AI ship mods for DCS because of your continued support. As promised I will be releasing the Cavour Carrier and the Paolo Thaon di Revel class Offshore Patrol Vessel. I am preparing them for release as I write this message. -- Known Aircraft issues with the Cavour are the AH-64 Apache Player creates a lag in the game but I receive an FPS of 100 plus with all other aircraft. I don't have the Kiowa mod so I couldn't test her FPS on deck. --I also see some issues with the Aster 15 Missiles but it's hit or miss when the missiles launch. They tend to explode after launching. I have been working to fix this issue. However, all the deck guns work great. I will finish testing her this afternoon and release her either late today or tomorrow morning. --Lastly, I can't get the collision model damage textures to work but I will continue to work on both mods until I fix it. Stay tuned for release.6 points

Please keep in mind project is still in the 'early testing' stages Download: https://github.com/fredemmott/XRFrameTools/releases/latest Documentation: https://github.com/fredemmott/XRFrameTools/blob/main/README.md Summary: Every time someone uses any framerate measurement tool that was not specifically built for OpenXR, the numbers are not accurate, and are likely misleading. That said, it's not been entirely productive for me to keep saying that without offering an alternative, so... here we are OpenXR Toolkit's numbers are accurate; I had 3 things in mind when I started making this: OpenXR Toolkit is no longer maintained, and some games are incompatible I wanted to include power management data: "GPU time is 99% of frame time" has different meaning and implications if your GPU is running at maximum performance, vs when it's throttled, e.g. for thermal management More powerful logging: the option for 'every frame'; the binary logs are logged at every frame, but you can choose how many frames go into each row when exporting to CSV I wanted 'always-on' to be a reasonable option. Currently, the binary logging consumes 104 bytes per frame, which is 26mb/hour at 72FPS, or 43mb/hour at 120fps. Please check out our development screenshots and read the project status update below. As we approach the end of the year, we want to take a moment to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your continued dedication to DCS. Your feedback and passion have helped us push boundaries, refine our simulator, and bring ever more realism to DCS. Thank you. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all of us! We look forward to soaring onwards and upwards into the New Year together! Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Winter Sale Up to 50% discount Now is the time to expand your hangar and sharpen your combat skills with new aircraft, terrains, and campaigns! Until the 6th of January 15:00 GMT enjoy deep discounts on a wide range of our most popular modules! The DCS Steam Edition Winter Sale is now on until the 2nd of January at 18:00 GMT. Enjoy! MiG-29A Fulcrum Development Progress The primary MiG-29A development efforts are focused on the design of the external model, cockpit, avionics, and general aircraft systems. The DCS: MiG-29A is our first aircraft based on photogrammetry. The cockpit reference aircraft is located in Aircraft Museum Kosice, and we greatly appreciate their generous assistance. The textures and geometry of the new cockpit have been created from scratch, using new technologies that include high-polygon models for baking-in normal maps. This technique has provided many quality improvements whilst also presenting plenty of challenges. We generated a huge number of photos and videos of the aircraft, and we completely reworked the external model. Based on this reference data and factory diagrams, we were able to include an exceptional level of detail for items such as surface materials and treatment, rivets, screws, and panel joints. The new normal map reflects the structure of the aircraft skin to a high degree of accuracy, with texture resolution increased by 400%. A lot of work has been completed on avionics and systems, including the Optical Laser System (OLS), which is an important component of the MiG-29 targeting suite. Its main elements are the InfraRed Search and Track (IRST) system and laser range finder. Most of the air-to-air targeting modes are progressing well and nearing completion. The gun sight development was not a trivial task, with a complex simulation of both the tracked-target mode and the non-tracked, “funnel” mode. The gun sights have been significantly redesigned for a highly accurate representation of the real unit. A new mode has been added which was designed to engage invisible aerial targets in cloud, haze or at night with the gun. Weapon modes for engaging ground targets with rockets and guns at fixed and moving targets in the presence of wind are in active development. We have also scheduled the development of the basic bombing modes in the near term. We have totally recreated the Fire Control Radar (FCR) architecture and the main modes. After primary work on the OLS and FCR is complete, we will model the interaction between the OLS and the FCR. The SPO-15LM radar warning receiver, also known as Product L006LM, has been completely rewritten. The new SPO-15 uses the same physics-based approach as the SPO-10, but with greater attention being paid to its second iteration of directivity patterns for transmitting and receiving antennas. The latter being of particularly high importance to Soviet RWR designs due to the independent processing of an output from each azimuth sector antenna. Additionally, the database has been expanded, with each radar having a unique signature in terms of signal properties and with the properties themselves covering additional details. Thanks to these improvements, the new SPO-15 can be modelled to closely emulate the algorithms used in the real system, and it simulates many of its real-life quirks and limitations. Pilots will find themselves having to pay attention to these limitations to utilize its full potential. These include, but are not limited to, non-linear range indications that will properly display the signal power, blinding by high power radars, and many cases of incorrect threat type determination due to limited resolution with which the signal parameters are measured. This depth and accuracy of the simulations will make our new implementation of SPO-15 in DCS the most realistic and detailed simulation of this system of any PC simulator. A Mission Editor data programming panel is being developed for the navigation system. This will allow you to program the flight before the start of the mission and use this program in flight. Access to the panel and modification of data will be possible during the simulation, when the aircraft is on the ground. We are developing the MiG-29A INS and its interaction with the navigation system. Special attention is being paid to the modes of ground INS alignment and its accuracy and drift in flight. This will be affected by the alignment mode and the presence or absence of radio correction from the programmed beacon. Work remains on the Identify Friend or Foe (IFF) system, but we'll release the core functionality of IFF at early access, and then continue to work on the more advanced IFF features. Aircraft systems are being added and refined to a deep level of functionality. This includes the new hydraulic and electrical system, procedures and physics of engine startup and shutdown, expansion and reconfiguration of automatic control systems. Numerous new modes are also being introduced, and transients are being improved. Merry Christmas Happy holidays! In the spirit of the upcoming Christmas holiday, we wish you calm winds, clear horizons, and treasured moments with friends and loved ones. May your hangars be full, your aircraft finely tuned, and your upcoming sorties filled with excitement and discovery. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and your loved ones. Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,5 points

I've been testing a few custom versions VSN F-35B. I'm trying to make it more ai compatible with the AV-8B/Tarawa module. Aircraft weight plays a big role in how DCS handles "the Harrier" for take off/landing modes and there is a big weight/payload difference between the two aircraft. I'm trying to lower the weight of the F-35B without just using the AV-8b numbers. But still keep the the fuel and weapons payload "correct". I'll look into the conflict as well. I'll share the aircraft lua as long as no one from VSN objects.5 points

Bugfixes for what we already have would be great I for one don't constantly need something new. Sometimes it's enough to have what you already own working properly And besides, there are plenty of bugs that have been around for 5-10 years. Getting those squashed would be great, or simply things like a proper implementation of modern RWRs would make a lot of people happy as well I bet.5 points

Description files Thanks to @tanax bug report, we now made the descriptions files available in a separate download: https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases/download/VWV_0.9.0/TeTeT.VietnamWarVessels.descriptions.0.9.0.zip We'll need to fix the situation going forward and repair the faulty script. @Stackup I'm not aware how we can add the radial engine sound without changing the engine to radial in the config. Unfortunately it didn't take off from a carrier when we did so. Maybe it's time for a re-test, seems ED has been fixing carrier code lately. Cheers, TeTeT4 points

This is my updated CV-59 runway that allows parking/takeoff for 4 RA-5C and adds extra spaces for up to 20 parked aircraft. But as TeTeT said it's best to just use the runway for larger aircraft unless you are just adding " static" planes for eye candy. Also Cat 3 has a lower max take off weight limit for some reason. Not sure if that's correct or I broke something. The RA-5C almost winds up in the sea. All planes in this pic took off but 2 A-6s launch from cat 3 took a swim because they were over max weight. I only tested a few times and mixing in other aircraft types might cause taxi issues. Also I think I need to fix a wheel going off deck for a second when some planes use cat 4 depending on their start point. CV-59-Forrestal_RunwaysAndRoutes.lua4 points

Thanks, Guys, you all are the reason why I keep going and creating the mods and It's great to see you all enjoying them. That's a beautiful photo, Rudel. Thanks for the prayers and hugs. I appreciate it. I pray every night for pain relief. I hope my health will improve this upcoming new year and will be much better than in 2024. I also wish you all a wonderful X-Mas and New Year. Hopefully, you've gotten all your shopping done. On another note, I fixed the Cavours Collision model. I went back to the drawing board and took note on how ED created collision mods for ships and well that's where I found the answer. The photo below shows it all. This is inside the AH-64 Apache. You can see the FPS I received while inside as a player. I will see if I can get the Damage textures working. Also, I'm 90% complete with the Horizon Class Frigate textures. I try to keep the textures simple. It shouldn't take long to complete the ships.3 points

Hello and good morning. I’m Silver_Dragon. As you may have noticed, my visits to the forum have become more and more sporadic, and I’m updating the roadmap whenever I remember. I’m not keeping up with the patches and almost never fly DCS World, only when I have to do a report on a module for a Spanish-speaking magazine. I’ve been working since early November in an IT job, a temporary position that will most likely end in January. I’m very disconnected from both the development, the news, and what ED and the 3rd parties are doing. Simply, when I get home and have a moment, I watch YouTube videos, and on some days, I visit the forum. I’m sorry my followers have seen how I’ve been drifting away from this. I don’t know if I will return to being the same, time will tell. A hug to everyone and happy holidays PD: If anyone sees that I’ve missed something on the roadmap, please let me know in this post, or create a new one. When I have time, I’ll update it.3 points

There are pictures of R-27ER being carried in 80s in operational units, taken by the western side. R-27ER/ET is very much realistic for 80s scenario. Further more the P variant appeared in one of the manual pages for 9.12 and was removed due to being potentially sensitive.3 points
-
That's true. Both AIM-120A AMRAAM and R-27ER/ET were tested in evaluation programs since 1988 in very small test batches, but both AMRAAM and R-27ER/ET entered service only in late 1991. After the Desert storm and Cold War ended. In 1980s scenarios AIM-120A and R-27ER/ET would be a fiction.3 points

Razorback a dit : It's nice to hear that the MiG-29A Fulcrum is "going full speed ahead" but why isn't that the case with the modules that have already been released? The CH-47, and this is just one example of many, was released months ago and there are still a lot of bugs or unfinished possibilities. The CTLD script is needed to build nice missions in multiplayer. There are still major issues with the radios and the SRS. Since the release, only a few bugs have been fixed but there are still a lot of things missing. Isn't it possible to set "full speed ahead" to fix these really annoying issues as well? He oui Razorback a hélas raison le nier serait de mauvaise fois .3 points

ED provides an utility for viewing its 3D models and liveries in great detail, a tool that you use when creating new liveries or when editing training missions. The utility can't be used with the new F-5E because the base files are now in an encrypted format, such that even ED's own Model Viewer 2 utility can't view them.3 points

Nice to ear that the MiG-29A Fulcrum is "advancing full speed" but why it's not the case with the already released modules ? The CH-47, and it's just one of multiple exemples, was launched months ago and a lot of bugs or unfinished possibilities remains. CTLD script is necessary to build nice missions in multiplayer. There are still major problems with the radios and SRS. Since the release only some bugs were resolved but a lot of things are still missing. Is it not possible to set "full speed" to solve these really annoying problems as well? OK, it isn't a new problem, and we all know that sometimes it takes a long time to improve products... and that my complain has also been written by others at many times. But once again we're going to be offered a new module, which will almost certainly not be completely finished when it's released, while things are moving at a snail's speed when it comes to finishing or at least simply making ‘usable’ modules that have been distributed for months. I suppose that a "2025 and beyond" video will come in the next few weeks. I'm not expecting anyone to sell me a dream, I'm mainly waiting for operational existing modules. Even if we know that this isn't the most financially attractive objective for ED.3 points

First of all I really appreciate the job that ED made on this terrain. I really want to fly and enjoy the beautiful views across the Iraq but me and other members of our community not going to buy the map without the Diyarbakir AB. Because it’s one of the biggest Air Bases of Türkiye whom also the owner of the Incirlik AB. Don’t forget the Türkiye is the top 5 biggest army in the NATO When we take a look at the history we can see that Turkish Bases like Incirlik and Diyarbakir played one of the biggest roles on the region. Also one of the cities Türkiye have is Van. In Van there is a Turkish Gendarmerie Aviation group that provides Logistics with BlackHawks and CAS with the Attack Helicopters to the Iraq and the region. Our request is please expand the map to north a bit and add the Air Bases that plays a significant role in the region.2 points

I am sure this module will look great and will be fun to fly. But I am wondering how it will fit into DCS in its current state. Does this model have a datalink or will GCI be required? Will a better, more current Fox 3 missile be available for it? In some servers like SHADOW REAPERS, where weapons are limited to FOX 1s, this would be a great aircraft to fly. But that small exception does make up for much. The current MIG-29 versions and weapons available in DCS are no match for an FA-18 with later model AIM-120s or a Tomcat with the amazing AIM-54. If it is put up against the much improved BLUFOR aircraft it will be so overmatched. I know, it's not about being fair, it's about realism. I fly REDFOR almost exclusively but I doubt I would buy this module because it will be priced at $80 dollars or so, be half finished, and be an antique against current BLUFOR capabilities. Beautiful but useless. Hope i am wrong..... Sorry for the rant!2 points

I would really like to see a Petrovich for the Mi-8 similar to the Mi-24's pilot AI. Basically just a pie menu with voice feedback that you tell to do things like, "hey fly this in a straight line while I fiddle with the instruments" or "hey, hold this hover," or "hey, configure the weapons", "hey, tune the ADF" etc. etc. That would reflect real world usage and be very useful (necessary, really) when flying in IFR conditions.2 points

No, that's not my idea at all. My idea is to reduce the intensity of the simulation of reflections, dirt, and scratches on the canopy to better represent what a pilot actually sees when they look through a transparent object. This is because those things are not in focus when a human eye looks beyond them and focuses on the outside world, and therefore appear less prominent. It's as simple as that.2 points

Not true, human eyes and the visual processing of our brain is fundamentally different from a digital camera, such are the limitations of meat-based optics. The most relevant factor here is nicely demonstrated by your own video: the depth of field the "sensors" are capable of. As you can see, the depth of field the GoPro is capable of is massive, with both the instrument panel and the terrain in focus, even when the latter is several kilometers away. Your eye, on the other hand, has to refocus when switching from looking inside to outside the cockpit and vice versa, this is why HUDs are focused on infinity, so you don't have to refocus on it when you've been looking outside. Go and try it in your car or something, you'll need to refocus your eyes to read the tach after looking through the windscreen. Another factor is that we have binocular vision so when focusing on distant objects we're quite good at filtering out unnecessary or obstructive stimulus from close to our eyes; anyone who wears glasses understands this as you don't really "see" the frames unless you're actively trying to, despite them being well within your field of view. Even if you don't wear glasses, your brain removes your nose from the image your eyes feed it, despite it also occupying a significant portion of your FOV. Perhaps the best example of this is the halo in F1, where a big titanium pillar sits right in front of the driver's eyes; ostensibly a terrible idea, except your eye focuses past it and it becomes entirely unobstructive while racing This means that, while looking outside the cockpit, items close to you are not in focus. Items such as the scratches and reflections on the canopy. This is why I say it depends on what you consider realistic; are we (the player) a camera or a pilot? If we're a camera then the way the scene is rendered is very realistic, but I don't think we should be looking at what a camera sees, I think we should be looking at what a pilot sees.2 points

Hi, Vietnam War Vessels 0.9.0 is out and can be downloaded from https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases Release video: From the github announcement: Vietnam War Vessels 0.9.0 Update: New Ships, Planes, and Improvements! We’re excited to share the highlights of VWV 0.9.0, which brings new destroyers, aircraft, and updates to enhance your experience. New Destroyers This release expands the mod’s fleet with two Sumner-class destroyers: USS Laffey (DD-724): A historic ship that has been preserved and can still be visited in real life! Allen M Sumner (DD-692): The class's namesake ship joins the fleet alongside the USS Moale, available as a livery option. Both destroyers, like the Fletcher-class ships in the mod, are presented in their FRAM II configurations, complete with flight decks originally designed for the DASH (Drone Anti-Submarine Helicopter). In-game, these decks can accommodate the OH-6 mod or even the UH-1H, though space is tight for the latter! Updates to Existing Ships USS Maddox (DD-731): Now updated to reflect its 1964 configuration, aligning closer to its historical appearance during the Gulf of Tonkin incident. USS The Sullivans (DD-537): The ship wake issue has been resolved for smoother visuals. Aircraft Enhancements Updated Aircraft A-1 Skyraider: Overhauled visuals and collision shell improvements ensure better compatibility with the latest DCS updates. While some minor clipping issues remain, we’re actively working on a fix. MiG-17F Fresco: Now features two Syrian liveries: Early Sixties and Seventies variants. New Aircraft MiG-21MF "Fishbed-J": This interceptor, used by the North Vietnamese Air Force in the 1960s, joins the mod. While texture work is ongoing, it’s ready for action! RA-5C Vigilante: A carrier-borne reconnaissance jet, available with multiple liveries for different carriers. Note: Due to its size, the Vigilante may be challenging to use on standard DCS carrier deck layouts. Starting from the runway is recommended unless further deck modifications are applied. Flagship Updates CVA-31 Bon Homme Richard Updates The Bon Homme Richard model has received visual improvements, including: New rescue boats, antennas, and searchlights for added realism. Kudos go to all contributors to the 0.9.0 mod: ChedforceOne (RA-5C livery) GKABS and Stratos (RA-5C pilot) Hawkeye60 (A-1 and MiG-17 work) Helijah (A-5 base model from FlightGear) James J Jackson (new Destroyers and updates) mrflyboy (testing) Odyseus (MiG21-MF overhaul, BHR improvements) seabat (all those liveries and testing) Seabiscuit (new xcf for ship numbers) Showtime 100 (testing and helo landing on Destroyers) Slapshot (CVA-31 and Essex based A-4 missions) toan (testing, wake file help, lua fine tuning) Whiplash (screenshots) Keep in mind that we have an on-going call for donations for Helijah, the author of the Vigilante model: If you like his catalog of 300+ free planes, please support him via the donate link on http://helijah.free.fr/flightgear/hangaren.htm We hope you enjoy exploring the new and updated content in VWV 0.9.0. Your feedback and suggestions are always welcome as we continue to refine and expand the mod. KNOWN ISSUE When 4 A-1 and 4 F-8 launch from CVA-31, one of the F-8 will drive into one of the A-1. This results in the F-8 becoming in-operational and despawning. Some Screens from Whiplash for you:2 points

One easy (partly) fix would be to simply give us the option to use 2K textures. Especially for VR it wouldn´t decrease quality in any noticable way. It´s really a shame for an otherwise fun Helicopter.2 points
