Well, the hose connection wave is just a nice visual effect for a start but: the basket should react to aerodynamic forces near the aircraft (escape from the nose) the basket/hose should give a little stabilisation after connection and push back with minimal force boom should give a lot of stabilisation after connection (should hold the fighter size aircraft easily if trimmed and set proper power) the basket/boom should obey physics even when it's not intended for us (when buddy or AI is also in AAR process) the basket/boom should not autoconnect until an inch from the actual connection and the shape of basket/receptacle should ease up sliding in the basket/boom should not automatically disconnect after getting filling up the probe, basket, hose or boom can be damaged (including keeping the broken basket on the probe in some cases, hooking up the hose) no clipping of basket/hose or boom over the aircraft body some fuel spills during connections and disconnections option for both types of refueling on capable aircraft more wobbly basket depending on wind/turbulence settings no possibility of connecting from the the side or backwards What did I miss?8 points

We would like to extend our gratitude to all individuals who have dedicated their time to submit entries and provide feedback and concerns regarding custom livery painting for our customers. Consequently, we have decided to cancel this contest while we explore options to enhance our support for those who appreciate painting and sharing their livery creations. Regarding the current entries, while we will not be adding any to the game at this time, we would like to offer a small gift to you for your effort and hope that when this contest returns, you will consider resubmitting your work. We will contact you shortly. Thanks again for all the feedback we have received on this, and we look forward to improving this in the future. The ED Team8 points

Let's look at it this way....none of us wanted to get this or any other competition "cancelled". However, if this was done because ED has realized that something corrective needs to be done with the idea of encryption on a whole, and by extension, getting the MV working correctly and allowing us access to the files we need in general going forward, then this isn't a win for "us" who voiced opinions - it is - but it's a win for ED and the community because it means high quality pieces can be made and the community can stay lively with the biggest user made staple of any game - skins. Regardless who makes them. I know plenty of amazingly talented painters who didn't voice their opinions here who will be overjoyed if this is the result going forward.7 points

Some better A2A refueling physics woukd be a great addition. A good wave of the hose as you attach would be great. Woukd also be amazing if the basket didn't auto disconnect when full.6 points

Dear Ugra @MAESTR0 Now that I’ve had a few days to go over the Germany map for DCS, it is done very well and dare I say probably the best map to release for DCS to date. It is absolutely a solid foundation for many years of fun adventures to come. I can't wait to see what kind of official campaigns come from this. With that said, I do have some constructive criticisms. The airbases all look the same and have very little character. The overuse the same generic hangars and buildings over and over is disappointing. I hope that future updates may bring a little more life to the individual characteristics of each base. Also, brought up a many times now here, the brown patches in the grass at EVERY airfield are overly exagerated. I get the vibe that UGRA media went for a late 1970’s timeframe. The color scheme they used for the NATO bases give a run down rusty vibe, which works for the Eastern Bloc bases, but not NATO. Generally speaking, US Facilities but more than likely all NATO associated facilities have pretty well kept grounds. Missing patches of grass happen, but not very often. We mow our grass, and most bases would be considered "Well Kept Garden" like. My suggestion would be to all but remove the brown patches from the airbases of the West Germany side of the map. Doing this would give us the immediate recognition of which side we are on. Similarly to how film directors use subtle light and color pallets to differentiate scenes for movie goers. As far as the Buildings and Hangars go, I recognize that compromises have to be made to optimize the gameplay and keep download sizes reasonable. One thing that could help is to close up some of the Hangars and Hass Shelters. If you get rid of some of the interiors of these buildings, then that gives a little more head room for custom details at a few choice bases. A couple examples that I explored are Bitburg Airbase, and Giebelstadt Army Air Field. Bitburg Wishlist: Personally, I would prefer to see the base with the Tan and Brown painted buildings, The HAS Shelters in the Green scheme. Minimize the brown missing grass patches. Add a custom Roether Memorial Alert shelter, add the missing weapons bunkers For Giebelstadt AAF, Generic Hangars are re-used here again, and this is an acceptable compromise (even though the real live Hangars would bring so much Character to the base). Unfortunately, the use of large light poles everywhere is not conducive to helicopter operations. Also in your rendition there are a few prominent trees in the midfield that were never there real world. Wishlist: is to "Green up the brown patches in the grass once again, Remove the light poles, and remove the trees. Every picture I have found of the hangars had the doors closed. I know its a ton of work, but with the removal of the extra polygons for the Tree and Light poles, in combination with more simple closed up custom hangars could potentially yield no frame loss, and potentially not much more hard drive space. See Below for examples of Giebelstadt. To wrap up this lengthy post. Thank you UGRA. You have done an outstanding job, and I look forward to all that you will give to us in the future. I Know that every base can't be a custom masterpiece, its just not feasible. Maybe something like picking the top 5 most well known and documented airbases, and detailing them out with more custom buildings as "Flagship" fields could be the answer. Or instead of top 5, maybe the bases that align best with the actual DCS Aircraft IE: the New Eagle Dynamics F-15C main home will be Bitburg, Hahn for the F-16, or a Belgian F-16 base maybe, ETC. Thank you for this amazing WIP map. -Preston5 points

It is great that Ugra is adding a lot of heliports on their maps. But when I am flying fixed wing I am not really interested in them and they clutter up the F10/ME map a lot. Would be great to be able to filter them out when not needed. Additional map markers with respective filters for point of interests like prepared SAM sites, army bases, training grounds, ports etc. would also be great. So you find these things quickly when you need to but can filter them away most of the time.4 points

Can I please request for consideration an independent parameter for setting the sea swell in the map editor. Currently the swell is directly coupled with the local wind setting. However IRL, sea swell is not solely a product of local winds. Swells are often generated by distant weather systems, sometimes thousands of kilometers away, and can persist independently of local wind conditions. The current system in DCS, where swell height is directly tied to local wind settings, does not accurately reflect this behavior. I propose adding a separate configuration option for swell height in the map editor, that allows for the decoupling from local wind parameters. When set to 'auto' (default) - it can keep the same logic as now, to make it backwards compatible, but this can be changed to set the swell height to override from the sea parameter. This would allow mission designers to create more realistic and different scenario's for their missions, and hopefully wouldn't be too difficult to implement at a core level. Thanks for consideration. DZ4 points

Have updated my sandbox mission and have attached it if it helps anyone. Key updates are: Added markings on the F10 map for locations of fixed Soviet SAM sites. By fixed, that means the SA2, SA3 and SA5 sites. SA6 are mobile and are NOT marked Added what appears to be the expected route(s) for a Soviet advance using the Fulda gap. For that route, have added target points for rail bridges that would likely be used to supply forward Soviet units Tidied up the positioning of the SA2 and SA3 sites New AI quick reaction flights on each side In the new few days, I'll be updating with pickzones and similar to aid with CTLD. As I've seen mentioned before, the dirt around every single paved area also looks pretty strange. Most airfields in this kind of environment in general only consist of well kept short grass.4 points

sorry, but this thread is now making circles... fixing MSAA for this issue is still worth it: DLSS nor DLAA is not a solution due to: 1: for AMD users DLAA is no option 2: for cold war and dogfights all TAA solutions are leading to ghosting or even dissapearing bandits, and no VID of targets due to smearing and ghosting3 points

Dogon is just the MPRF mode every MiG-29 has. You are referring to “SP” or “Free Space” mode where targets where plotted by azimuth-velocity, and was supposedly so disliked by Soviet MiG-29 crews it was removed after 2-3 batches, thus you won’t see any pictures with it really.3 points

Heading hold AP in Mi-24, is operating and holding heading within its limits, only when the AP channel is engaged, microswitches on pedals not engaged (feet off the pedals - depressing the microswitches puts the heading hold AP in standby), having the option "Pedals Auto Move" in Special Settings enabled. In all practical terms, you need one more thing - FFB pedals. If you don't have FFB pedals, then the AP will move your virtual pedals without you (potentially) knowing, and in the worst case, result in reduced range of rudder pedals. You run into the problem, that was described at the start of the thread, and which many people don't get. As a worst case scenario, if the AP trims your virtual pedals to the left, and you perform a combat maneuver such as quick stop, then your maximum physical pedal right (to arrest descent while raising collective), might only result in as little as 50% virtual right pedal - you won't be able to counter the torque from the increased collective to arrest descent and down you go. There are two general ways about this, given that you don't have FFB pedals, which solves this deficiency; a) You want to preserve the AP heading hold as a function, you enable "Pedals Auto Move" in the Special Settings, like you have it now. Finally, you bind the rudder pedal microswitches to a button that suits you. Whenever you want the AP heading hold to be operating and actively holding the heading for you, you have to release the switch/toggle it off. At that point, the AP heading hold will trim your virtual pedals as it needs, and within boundary. You, will have to remember, that when you want to take over rudder pedals and press in/toggle the microswitches, the position of your physical rudder pedals will not match that of the virtual ones. Solution - very quick maximum deflection right and left (results in a "bump", poor airmanship), or reset trim (use a function that does not exist IRL in the aircraft). The problem here again, is that your cyclic will also be returned to neutral, so a "bump" in the flight envelope will happen, whether you want to or not. b) You realize that in reality, even though the function to hold heading is there, no pilot is ever taking his feet off the pedals, unless he hands over the controls to his/hers gunner/co-pilot. Even if you want to rest your feet, feet-on-pedals is the least stressful position (compared to cramping them closer to the body). I have heard many (chief amongst Russian pilots), either directly or indirectly hint at the fact that whoever flies an aircraft, maintains full control of it. Military aircraft are simply not flown the way commercial aircraft are. Thus, if realism is of importance to you, than in-fact, the AP heading hold is engaged as per SOP due to security (pilot faint, etc...), but it's practically never used. In that case, you can simply disable the "Pedals Auto Move", and have the whole AP heading hold logic off, as if microswitches were pressed in all the time. You also avoid the problematic with having your virtual pedals offset from the position of the real ones. That's basically what it stands at.3 points

I'm happy that it looks like you guys have been heard and acknowledged with the cancellation of the contest until solutions can be found. It will be good to see the big hitters take part (hopefully) when they reschedule it, overall it's a win for the DCS community as a whole in my opinion.3 points

It's OK, more OpenXR is good, more adoption is good. My code is open source to allow that, but it would be really nice if companies using open source would take the time to follow the directions of the license3 points

One thing that hasn't been mentioned yet is what I like to call "fapping for energy" - it is a technique on how to use the stick, and in fact very simple to practice. As others already have stated you want to manage your energy, that is Gs and speed. Ideally you want both at ideal numbers, so corner speed at around 6ish G. But that won't always be the case, a climb may reduce speed, a sharper pull will reduce it, and a dive for speed may reduce your Gs, etc. Now, of course we need to stay observant of our instruments (in time you also get a feel for it, as the cockpit rattling and buffeting feeds back to you, so you can have more eyes on the bandit). But how does that actually look in terms of stick work, if say we fly a level turn - hypothetically (since usually you should go half a circle up and half a circle down). So, let us say, we fly a level turn and suddenly have too much speed and not enough G? How to get back G load without really bleeding all your speed? A good technique is to pull (quick release), pull (quick release), pull (quick release), pull (quick release) ... on the stick, aka very fast stick aft movements. This will quickly load G back on, without bleeding speed, since you have a brief release of the stick between the pulls (hence fapping for energy). Vice versa, if you have a lot of G, but losing speed, you do it in the opposite direction. You push (quick pull aft), push (quick pull aft), push (quick pull aft), push (quick pull aft), ... This will allow you to load back on speed without sacrificing too much G, aka just letting go of the stick and G load. Note that while the "fapping for G" is a more pronounced quick and sharp pull and release, the "release for speed" is a more relaxed, slower movement that you adjust as needed, sometimes as little as one slightly relaxed ease forward on the stick, can gain you back enough speed, and then you bring the stick back again to hold the Gs, etc. Try and train that by simply flying level turns, and observing how either loads back on G, or releases G and loads back on speed. And observe how the aircraft behaves. It is a very good thing to have in your muscles memory for dogfighting. This technique is not Tomcat specific and can be applied in any dogfighting aircraft, even in a glider, a fokker dr1 in ww1, a bf 109 in ww2, an F-4 in Vietnam, or an F35 in post modern times... and allows you to stay at full throttle at all times (which you generally should, unless you are trying to force an overshoot, or as a last resort, or some more advanced split throttle shenanigans, yada, which I'd consider more of a gimmick than base dogfighting skill.) I hope I explained it well enough to make sense. Happy training!3 points

After more than two years of research and trial and error, I'm happy to present my MB-339A Falkland mini campaign! You are a young pilot of Armada Argentina, you were training on the A-4Q, but news of the war brought you back to the airplane you know how to fight in, the Aermacchi MB-339A (MC.33 in the Argentine service). You will deploy to Port Stanley, now renamed Puerto Argentino, and fight your hardest to repell the British fleet. In this 6 mission mini campaign you will find an historically accurate account of the MB-339A's involvement in the falkland war. Planes (including the actual bort numbers), dates and times, troops movements, AAA postions and ships name and position have been researched and accurately reproduced. Each mission has a Briefing and a debriefing document, several custom kneeboard pages, and lots of dialogues for a total of more than 200 voice overs. Inside the package you'll also find custom skins for the 339 (adapted from the excellent skin already provided by IFE) and other Argentinian planes. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/it/files/3344459/ Update V.1.1 Fixed crashes on startup removing the late spawn feature. Completetly reworked mission 3 to more accurately follow the real event. Incredible thanks goes to IFE for all the help!2 points

The Save Game feature is finally here. It's a great step in the right direction, and I'm sure it will be improved down the line and make DCS a more user friendly experience. BUT You need to remember that I have the same access to DCS as you: the mission editor. I can guarantee that my missions work, but I cannot guarantee that the save game feature does. Based on official communication this first iteration is currently aimed more at simple missions, not extremely complex ones like my campaigns, where all sorts of triggers and scripts are firing all the time. So please do not post any bug reports that happened AFTER you saved and loaded a mission, because I'll have no way of figuring it out. I'm sure ED will keep improving the feature based on user feedback and one day you'll be able to save the most complex missions at any time. And that will be a real game changer. Thanks!2 points

Hi Aerges, Since 2.9.15.9408 dropped, I've had the english voice ALR-300 voice and had to adapt to the less convenient gear lever and firing safety logics. Before that, i'd gotten used to my preferred options, enjoying the historical spanish and french voices, and the keybind logics that made sense with my peripherals setup. I understand this change is from last patch, developed in this line of the patch notes: I'm curious as to why this change was made, and if it really is necessary. It's nothing dramatic, although the new version may be quite inconvenient, the F1 is too good a module to let up for such a small reason. I suspect it may have been motivated by better synchronisation when multicrewing the BE, but I can't know for sure. If that were the case, I'd like to request that these changes are only made to the F1BE, without affecting the EE or CE. If the change was made for another reason, I'd like to request that this reading from server be made optional. I understand some may want to standardise the functioning of all player aircraft, but I believe that is a very invasive change that isn't justified on bigger multiplayer servers. Thank you for your work!2 points

So Tactical DCS run a series of limited number courses for assisted learning of the systems in various jets. But they dont ( I think ) do a Phantom course. I wondered if there was any squads or organisations or individuals who did anything like this? I fly pretty much full time in a squad operating the Hornet, as a result of which my skills and knowledge of the Phantom have atrophied....a situation I would like to correct. I know there is a lot I can do in single player, but I really enjoying flying with people and find teh learning experience much faster and better when guided in this way.... Any suggestions welcome.....I dont even mind paying for some lessons......I know people like Spud do one on one stuff for example...2 points

Hello there, Is there any April news/updates on the F1M? Friend of mine was about to purchase de M2000C to join me but, well you know... I mainly fly M2k, F1 and sometimes A10 or 16 but I'm really looking forward to have something a little more modern so is my friend (he's not into CW) when it comes to the F1. Are they planning on releasing the 104 1st and then get back to the F1M? Should we expect it soon, late 25, next year? Not discussing the "better late and ready than early and incomplete" just trying to understand where they are and what we could expect in the near future Q2 Q3.2 points

I too have suddenly been having problems with VR Stuttering using my Pimax Crystal the last few months. I tried everything in this thread and more to remove this problem. I then ran across this video over at Gamers Nexus and rolled back my Nvidia driver for my 4090 to 566.36 per the recommendation in the video. My stuttering is almost completely gone and my rig runs very smooth now. It seems that Nvidia has been having drivers issues since December that have only gotten worse. Hope this helps solve your problems Capt StevieJ2 points

Bignewy mentioned that you have IC failures and to remove mods, however you stated you have no mods. The IC failures can actually be due to the out of memory errors and the textures are unabled to be loaded, this is a false positive that they are an IC failure, see example error below....you have a lot of these, which indicates the memory issue I mentioned earlier. 2025-04-22 19:44:18.941 ERROR EDCORE (2092): More out of memory in SharedBuffer for 11184952 bytes. 2025-04-22 19:44:18.941 ERROR EDCORE (2092): Not enough memory to decompress: uh1_tail_us_army.dds 2025-04-22 19:44:18.943 WARNING SECURITYCONTROL (2092): IC fail: /textures/uh1_tail_us_army @ bazar/textures/uh-1.zip 2025-04-22 19:44:18.943 ERROR BACKENDCOMMON (2092): Can't load image '/textures/uh1_tail_us_army.dds'. I dropped your zip into the DCS log analyzer and got the following output: Memory Timing Issues Remove any overclocking (XMP) from your RAM. Your System ran out of Memory Increase RAM or add a custom page file Your GPU ran out of VRAM Reduce Terrain Textures and Shadows. Doublecheck your pagefile. Given the amount of RAM you have on your system, and your video card, this can be a little unexpected. However this is definitely evident in the log file. I would recommend deleting the Saved Games\DCS\fxo and metashaders2 folders as there have been occurrences in the past with older cached textures causing out of memory errors even with systems with large amounts of VRAM and RAM. Disable core parking. Additional advice: Verify that this is configured correctly in Windows: Game Mode disabled Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling disabled Core Isolation disabled Remove the OH6GunnerExport script for performance reasons. Follow the above, see if this resolves anything, and if not then drop another log file. Note that the DxDiag log file in the zip indicates issues, may be similar, with other processes on your machine. There's a few for GameInputSvc.exe (Windows Game Input Service).2 points

While ED is working on integrating the route tool to the DTC, which is a more complicated thing, I guess, one probably easier request: Could we please have the MFD setup aka what MFD page is displayed on which of the two MFD screen in a certain mode (DGFT; A-A, Nav) to the DTC? The one thing that prevents me from using EDs DTC it in my startup procedure is that this feature is still missing. The default layout of the F16 MFD screens is unpratical in AG and AA mode. So I still need to use the external DTC app instead of EDs built in one for a quick setup in the jet. The MFD setup together with the already available CMS setup via EDs DTC together would make a great first iteration of the DTC for DCS.2 points
