Thanks for those references, I will change the landing gear height. I don't plan on changing the fuselage dimensions, it would require redoing a lot of animations and other stuff, and the difference is barely visible. This was meant as a simple modding project, not 1:1 version of Su-22 in dcs. If you don't like it's proportion and dimensions then wait for Snipers Su-226 points

Thank you. The one I have linked was made in OvGME, so anyone should be able to use it that way if the wanted, but I'm glad you got it figured out. I replace the entire mod file every time and there are often multiple files added or modified. Replacing the entire mod is the way I had intended.4 points

I´m in DCS now for half a year and there are some issues which are quite annoying on a every day base. The AI. Its rediculous that the AI can´t perform a simple overhead break. I mean, there must be a way to fix that, if not by making the AI actually intelligent, then why don´t you record a standart pattern which the AI performs every time like a replay. I mean the AI is actually able to perfom a somehow carrierbreak. Same when the AI defends missiles. When our squandron reviews the tacview after each mission, the AI flights are just doing some samba dance no real pilot would attempt to do. These are basic elements which could at least give you the feeling that the AI is not totally insane. There are standard manouvers for every aircraft that every player has to lern, like how to defend a sam, how to make a hook turn or fly a cap. These are very simple manouvers and it feels like you just don´t give a <profanity>. I´m realy scared of what you call a dynamic campaign if the foundation of it is this crap of an AI. The Tanker. In my single player missions there is allways a message displayed, that due to a recent refuelbug, the AI isn´t able to refuel besides the player. So maybe that worked in the past. But its very immersion breaking and can´t be that monster of a challange to fix, or is it? If you just could get rid of these inadequacies it would feel so much better. I do understand that you can´t make money with such improvements on first glance like with a new module but that is a very narrow view. My experience over the last view month, where I got in touch with the german community is that nearly every one would go for it, if you would get a real competitor. If microsoft would add weapons to their fligth simulator or Falcon BMS would get desent graphics you would face some serius sales problems. So please ED, spent some love on the very basics, and then spent some love on the modules you allready released to early access a decade or so ago. We would realy appreciate. Oh, and if you are still looking for some money to make, think about an AI ATC Module like sayintentions or beyond atc. That would be a gamechanger and a potential cashcow.3 points

Looks like crosswind. What does the briefing say concering wind? And when you say it's always shifted to the left, even when you do a 180 degree turn? If yes, check your INS, alignement, INS switch, GPS etc.3 points

For Aerges modules, yes the liveries are country dependent by default. But I know there is a way to hack the config files so that you see all liveries no matter what the country.3 points

Was a little sceptical initially upon installing this, when Syria came out - for me it was unflyable, a stutter ridden flick book that was only reasonably smooth more than a year later. This however, even on my relatively old machine, is butter smooth already. Echoing others - the greens are a little too much I feel, Germany doesn’t really look like that. But the layout of the terrain is refreshing, I find myself distracted quite often when for instance a SEAD mission suddenly becomes a sightseeing exercise! I eagerly hunt out Schloss, bridges and other unique geographical items. There seem to be a heck of a lot of dirty great smokestacks and power stations! I have a feeling that a lot of them should be something else, and maybe these are just placeholders? Flying the border is easy enough to mimic, it is visible, and was still perfectly visible at many thousands of feet altitude during my short stint there on exercise in the late ‘90’s. This map holds great promise, and there is still so much more to come. Well done Ugra. You keep setting the bar higher, and you do not disappoint. VERY happy.3 points

We have, between us, I think, provided more than enough feedback on the limitations of the QAG which offers absolutely nothing over the system it it supposed to replace. You need to to take on board this feedback as it comes from people who have invested a lot of time and money into DCS. In a nutshell, we want the old fast mission generator back, whether you choose to run it alongside the QAG or whatever, is up to you. If you don't you're going to have problems, because I for one will be done with DCS for good unless ED starts listening to its user base. I'm sure I'm far from the only one who thinks this.3 points

Hi @GOA_Escorpion (R) I tested again tonight. I placed the DF21-D down with an AWACS in the sky. 1 enemy ship. The AWACS detected the ship, the DF21 primed to fire, FIRED and sank the ship. That was all. A bit like the Silkworm but no radar required. 1 thing I noticed is that (probably due to the problems with CH ballistics), that the initial phase of the missile trajectory, it does not climb high enough. Although the final stage does.3 points

You're so right! I also fly only VR. But for me the pilot in the cockpit is the immersion breaker, it looks crude and distracts me and also do not respond to my arm movements so that parts of the cockpit are covered. I never realised that the MiG-21 has no pilot body ...3 points
-
Personally, I don't really get the craving for a pilot body either. I found it more disturbing than helping with immersion (strong case of uncanny valley). VR and 2D. But to each his own...... I will probably get both anyway, but I find the Corsair much more appealing. With all its quirks. Whereas the Hellcat is certainly a formidable Warbird, but otherwise pretty generic.3 points

A definite “area of opportunity” that DCS has in the multiplayer realm is consistency of mods. There are some ace mods out there, but if a player tries to join a server and the player doesn’t have a mod that’s needed to join, all they get is a name of the missing mod. personally, I’d love to have: - a central repository for mods, that would host all mods that are needed to join a server, ie aircraft, ships, statics etc. To exclude skins, which have large texture volumes - the option for the mission hosting server (eg myself) to auto upload to the central repository - when a player attempts to join a server that needs a mod they don’t have, they’re given the option to download from the central repository. Sure, might take a couple of mins, but as we’re excluding larger elements like skins, hopefully the volumes won’t be too onorous2 points

Hey, @BIGNEWY If you are still in the area, or can get this way, you might want to come visit us at Boscombe Down Aviation Collection. Get to sit IN loads of cold war jet cockpits, see some truly historic aircraft , and climb into our full reproduction lancaster cockpit, (all original equipment, the frame is new build from Avro drawings).. Drop me a line and I would like to offer a visit as my guest. (and yeah I know our website is VERY dated, sorry all, not my side of things) TJ2 points

It's better to have all the data/info in one place, which is here on ED's forum. So I would say no to Discord.2 points

Phantastic new shots, wow, what an improvement, Ghostrida! Your details are awesome. Regarding the hangars, I have to add that the current front doors are wrong. The big aircraft doors had been replaced by smaller section doors for vehicle usage after the last Harrier GR7 left the air base in 1993. 1993 to 2016 the British Army took over the airfield and exchanged the hangar doors. So to represent the air base buildings correctly, you should use the big hangar doors because of the aircraft maintenance options. Here some examples: Hope this helps.2 points

Hello ED! In order to perform realistic helicopter landings in rough seas, the mission maker should be able to configure the waves in the mission editor. The wave size could be adjusted with a slider. The wave direction could be adjusted with a rotary knob, or it could follow the wind direction. The interface could look like this: Finally, the bonus: Managing sea spray! If the waves are large enough, create a localized "rain" effect a few meters around the boat, so that a helicopter landing on a boat in rough seas would get water on its windshield, reducing its visibility. The goal is to be able to perform landings that look like this: Is it envisageable to have at least configurable waves ? Thanks!2 points

Version 2.5.0 - 20250605 And so it turns out I was wrong: DCS does invoke the save state callback. It merely disables all debugging, and my debugging code wasn't invoked, leading me down the wrong track. Since all debugging is disabled during state saving and can't be enabled, I'm postponing my own development until it can be enabled. I'm not that masochistic. I also tried DCS' new QAG (Quick Action Generator) and was deeply troubled by what I saw. And, again, I screwed up - believing that the interface blunders in that new feature were obvious to anyone with UI/UX experience (they are), it seems that the kind folk at ED took exception to my publicly saying so, without me elaborating the (to me) obvious. That post was taken down; ED deemed it unhelpful and not constructive (as I did not point to the many -- to me obvious -- faults or provide a better solution). I followed up to our community managers in a private conversation enumerating some 30+ (yeah) of the most egregious (and, yes, obvious) bugs/UI/UX blunders in that one new feature (examples: set the number of wingmen to 1 to have zero wingmen. Press the Cancel button on armament screen to accept all changes. That kind of obvious). I haven't received any reaction other than the we'll "look it over the next few days". Ah, well. Somewhat disheartened by what seems to me an accelerating downturn in DCS quality wise, I tinkered with some scripts that now can access a map's radio and beacon info, and came up with a new mission that turns out to be incredibly fun: Ferry Caucasus It's full of new scripts (some of them folded into "common") that may or may not make a full transition to DML - we'll see. Changes Documentation Manual - clone zones "noSpawn" QuickRef - clone zones update Demos - clone here - but not here (new) Modules - bcn 1.0.0 - (experimental) - cfxMX 4.1.0 - (DCS "state save" preparation) - cloneZone 2.7.0 - noSpawn zones - dcsCommon 3.3.1 - various new support methods - ungrief 2.0.2 - removed typo in config Enjoy, -ch2 points

Hi, often we train from the ship. On our own training server we have a complete carrier group to practice all kinds of scenarios. The last campaign that we did was land based but that's more of an exception than that it's the rule. We're navy so we like the sea #FlyNavy2 points

Fix the AI. This is the biggest complaint. And the one persisting year after year*. *Please buy our new latest early-access module that will be early-access for years until enough people complain, even then it won't be "complete".2 points

Bullets in DCS already have decent collision physics, with the ground and other physical objects. Bullets colliding with each other though, I don't really think it would be necessary. And yeah, there only would be a rare probability of such collisions happening, that's why that feature is not in the game. Also it would cause a larger form of lag, especially on low-end devices.2 points
-
They chose to spend more of their limited resources on implementing functional carrier and some ground units. I suspect there are many more customers interested in these features than ones interested in pilot model. Business 101 and that's that.2 points
-
a lot is going on lately but i keep creating my own PBR textures when i get to it, it takes time but the good thing is that many of those textures can be used for many buildings. Just a few more normal maps and roughmets are missing. I also created a few more models allready.. anyway... a small update.. more soon2 points
-
Not sure I get it. I also fly exclusively in VR, but having the pilot model in the way is more distracting than anything else to me. Not like you can move your arm or leg to see that gage or switch. I find it a bit rough not to buy a great module just for that but that’s just me. I mean come on we’re talking about the Corsair2 points

+1 would be nice to override the sea state (and in general have sea states that go beyond 4-5)2 points

I think this is not so complicated to implemant because there is already waves who adjust height & direction to the wind. We only just make thoses two parameters configurable by the missionmaker. So technicaly, this is not so complicated to implemant.2 points

I have answered the question, its a core feature for DCS and work has stalled currently. When work resumes I am sure we will see it for the MiG-29A I will need to ask the team about the radar. edit: радиолокационный прицельный комплекс РЛПК-29 NATO designation 'Slot Back 1' For A2G weapons it will be like we have now, unguided bombs, clusters and rockets. thanks2 points

I assume you mean CE/EE. The CE does if you select to fly for Iraq. The BE does as well. The EE does not. Would be nice if it did.1 point

DCS now provides us with the current DLSS version (310.2.1.0), so no more swapping needed. It's also possible to force the new preset "K" via autoexec.cfg DLSS_Preset = "K" (thanks to Tallymouse for that one!) Is there a way to also force OverrideAutoExposure = true ?
