Simply the performance optimization for the Caucasus, Persian Gulf, and Nevada maps. This was working quite well in our internal trunk version, but when moved to the 2.5.5 branch, we lost the optimization. The team is investigating. Once we stomp this gremlin, we'll get this VR performance optimization into a later OB.

Sounds reasonable. Things always work on local builds, the moment you put it in front of a customer it breaks.

 

 

 

This is similar to the opposite rule involving tech support, where the issue is always present until the tech support rep is at your computer, in which case, it will always work perfectly until the rep is out of earshot.

some new hit effects on the BF109K's I was flying the Spit, and fired the canons and MGs into a BF109K, and seen some new sparks effects from the hits on the plane.

Not always a software problem there. I had my boss call me for an emergency software issue where his program was broken because it kept scrolling down. Needed me to fix immediately. So I walked in and lifted a book off his keyboard, and what do you know.

Did the actual vr improvment make it into the patch or not?

 

Fair amount of debate on this in the vr forum. Be great to hear some clarification from ED.

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

It's that way for all aircraft apparently. Had new effects when firing my 190A8 against Spitfires earlier. More of a puff of smoke. I like it. I don't know if it's realistic, honestly, but I like it.

The VR optimising is NOT in this patch, but they are hoping to get it to us for the near future, once they can track down the problem.

if you ever watch the gun cam footage, you will see puffs of smoke, sparks or debris coming off the planes.

Have seen a fair amount of gun cam footage. Yes, some sparks and debris. The new effect in DCS looks like a Chineses fireworks show, over done and a bit to static (Gamey) IMHO.
