Red Dragon-DK Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Happy new year all In this month, 2.5 will be released and I'm excited about it. I am looking forward to see all the improvements from Nevada and Normandy going into Caucasus and how the new speedtree, big forests looks. Seeing from pictures and video I also exited to se all the seasons and the changes and improvements they have made. A big thanks to Matt W and ED for all your great work. What are you looking forward to in the new release of Caucasus the merge in 2.5? 1 Intel I7 4770K, Evga 1080 FE, win10 64Pro, 32GB ram, TracIR 5, Hotas Warthog, MFD Cougar x2, MFG Crosswind
schurem Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I am very much looking forward to resume training on the A-10C, the Viggen, the Mighty Eight and the Sabre in gloriously smooth VR. Speedtree and the other new rendering tricks in the 2.x engine makes VR miles better than 1.5.x. Also dem clouds! I5 9600KF, 32GB, 3080ti, G2, PointCTRL
NeilWillis Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Low flying in those majestically forested hills of the Caucasus. They look amazing in both the live feed, and the winter low level flight videos.
QuiGon Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I'm eager to test the new speed trees by crashing in to them when conducting low levle sorties :D Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
funkyfranky Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 What are you looking forward to in the new release of Caucasus the merge in 2.5? Apart from what has already been mentioned, I looking forward to having everything under one hood again. I cannot even remember how that was once upon a time. Not having all these questions "which version gets an update?", "in which version is the new module released first?" etc. etc. Also, of course, a lot less maintenance time for all of us and even more importantly for the developers :) 1 A warrior's mission is to foster the success of others. i9-12900K | RTX 4090 | 128 GB Ram 3200 MHz DDR-4 | Quest 3 RAT - On the Range - Rescue Helo - Recovery Tanker - Warehouse - Airboss
Cibit Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 From a chopper pilots perspective, the lighting and detail at ground level along with those thickly forested hills with only a couple of obvious LZ's and those either slope landings or very tight with collidable trees all around, oh and the EGT fix for the huey and the multicrew when it comes. Awesome times my friends  1 i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB

grunf Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Hopefully the 2.5 will eat a bit less of disk space compared to three version we have now. :D 2.5 Caucasus looks amazing! Low level flying will be a completely different experience, with all those collidable, sight-blocking trees. Should be fun for Combined arms too... 1
Gunnergolly Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Just having one version of DCS ... and the Hornet. .. 1 Win 11 Home 64Bit, i7-13700K@5.2Ghz Water Cooled, 32 Gb RAM, PNY RTX4090, Pimax Crystal, Quest Pro, Realsimulator FSSB R3 ULTRA, Virpil/Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS combo, MFG Crosswind Pedals.

Buzzles Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Cannot wait to delete the 1.5 and Alpha branch versions from my machine tbh, and just get back to one release version and the open beta. 2 Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
Vitormouraa Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 (edited) Indeed, 1.5 is so outdated now. With all due respect, I can't stand the performance issues, graphics, the huge impact of the tree shadow and many more. 2.2 is way better, even tho the loading times are greater. I believe 2.5 will be one of the greatest things ever. Edited January 1, 2018 by Vitormouraa 1 SplashOneGaming Discord https://splashonegaming.com
Slap_Chop Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 1) Hoping for a stable graphics engine with well known minimum hardware requirements optimized for current GPU's. 2) With 1) completed I am hoping for some rest for the devs. There has been so much work done to get to this point and I feel it's almost there if 2.2 and the latest livestream any indication. 3) After a much deserved rest I'm hoping the devs can focus on some fun things for example new ATC system. Contunue making explosions and effects cooler . Tweaking the mission editor. Things that aren't huge problems but maybe fun to play with. 4) Looking forward to one version as well and the continued success of ED and their partners and a growing community. I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy and I've had both. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pikey Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Looking forward to: 1) Unified game again. It's been so long that the effect will feel like it's something extra, rather than reverting to normal. 2) Getting on with DCS life. It's been so long and so many discussion about development roadblocks all hingeing on this unification that I'd like to see less complex roadmaps, faster development, more resources freed up, starting to look at wishlists again like they aren't crazy ideas. 3) Less forum noise and confusion. I think once this happens and things return to normal, the forums will not be so bogged down with repeat questions. 4) Getting a real look at water with depth and what that means to naval and submarine combat in DCS. 5) Seeing how CA pans out with all those trees and smoother landscape. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
Headwarp Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 (edited) Have to agree with several posters here that having a unified client is going to be the biggest thing to look forward to. Graphically DCS 2.x is pretty stunning.. so the update to Caucasus is going to be nice, but my hope is the dev team's work gets easier from here on out. It will also be nice having something to actually do in the new client, as there really isn't much in the way of content for Normandy/Nevada and Caucasus is bringing all of the SP that came with the modules I already own. That and hopefully the server admins in 1.5 will continue to be so in 2.5. But.. to try to sum up the most exciting part of 2.5 - two words "The future". Which includes the Hornet, the Tomcat, the Phantom and a larger supply of people to help pin down bugs. Yurgon Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Wags' F/A-18 video over Caucasus was so beautiful, wow! I just hope the SSD has enough space left for the initial installation, when all versions sit on the disk at the same time. Well, 87 GB free right now, should work out okay I hope. ;) 1
Creature_1stVFW Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Like everyone said before, just having one install and everything on under one roof. Looking forward to seeing it! One regular version and one beta version being patched for testing as it is today. To save disk space both versions could use the same terrain file locations but I’m sure they won’t. Settle for 200GB disk space to have both versions installed. :) 1
